The SIXTH YEAR walked along through the corridor at the middle of the train.
Yes. Schuyler was a sixth year now. Which meant next year was her last year. And that was crazy in and of itself. But she didn't bother to try wrapping her head around that little fact because she was much too excited to be returning to school. Of course summer and traveling and road trips and the like would all be sorely missed, but she felt ready for school again. Mainly for the people, but she supposed for the atmosphere as well. Even some of the classes.
And what was one of the BEST parts about this year already? She wasn't the 'new girl.'

Christmas was going to sit at the back of the train for some reason she chose to sit in the middle of the train and she hated sitting alone and hoped that some of her friends would join her soon or somebody else would come and sit in with her

Tessa sighed as she walked down the train aisle. Another school, another way to arrive... the train was a nice touch though. Each car seemed to be filling up very quickly. She finally found one and ducked in.
"Hello," she said, smiling at the girl who was already in the cabin. "Mind if I join you?"

"Thanks," Tessa said, brushing back her mulit-colored and blonde locks. She settled down, propping her feet up on the seat across. "I did, actually- is it so easy to tell?" she asked with a grin.

Yeah, it was Schuyler. Pronounced SKY-LER.
With her reunion with Theo and West at the platform, her mood kept improving. Especially after their one-planned group enterance. And now she was hoping to get reunited with other friends of hers.
The sixth year walked down the corridor after exiting the prefect compartment with the badge on her chest and started peeking into compartments as she did. No, not snooping, just looking for familiar faces. She of course could wait until they got to the castle and feast time but why when she could search here?
So no one yet in the front cars? Was there some sort of meeting she wasn't notified of! Or was just everyone at the back. Hmm..
Cassia kept walking and squinting through the glass of compartments until she finally found someone! YAY! Schuyler. Just when she stepped into the car, a thought popped up in the snake's head. She came to a halt and whipped her head around. Phew. No Olly. Smile back on face, the blond dropped in the seat before the Gryffindor. "Well, hello, pretty," she greeted grin growing. "Don't mind me joining, do you?" She already was seated, though. And unless Olly was coming, Cassia couldn't think of why she'd leave, right? Right.

This was SO exciting-YET scary, BUT THRILLING-and somehow a bit all too shocking all at once for an eleven year old. Honestly who would have thought that just TWO days ago that THIS fortunate girl was FINALLY going to be attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizadry! Well honestly, come to think of it, she probably wouldn't have been attending Hogwarts if her father had any last say in the matter. If he could have, this little girl, who we'd come to find out was named Josette, knew that he would prefer to have her attend another school closer to home, especially because she knew how much her father was such a worrying grown man for reasons she wished she could fully understand. BUT she knew he was just trying to be, what she imagined, how any father would be acting if his only child were leaving home!
But what Josette didn't understand, was why her father had been REALLY against her going to Hogwarts? Was the school mediocore? Maybe he didn't like the way they delivered their letters, which she thought was strange, since they owled practically everything back home too. OH! It was probably because his little girl wasn't going to be home all the time, which she thought was a bit sad, even she practically swore to him that she'd write him EVERY DAY! She was so serious, that she had even crossed her heart for him back on the Platform! In FACT, Josette was SO serious about it, that she was on the verge of offering up a PINKY SWEAR promise if only she'd had enough time before it had been time to get on the Hogwarts Express.
Anyways..after such bumbling words..
Josette had managed to navigate, in a manner that she hoped didn't make her look confused, through the train corridors ducking & dodging between all of these BIGGER people that looked A LOT bigger than the tiny framed girl. Her clear blue eyes passed on each compartment trying to find one that didn't look too crowded. Every one that had someone one inside she'd mentally say, 'Nope. Nope. Uh uh. Not there. No.'
Would her father be upset with her for speaking with strangers? She grew up hearing the same phrase almose every day from her father, that 'Strangers are Dangerous. You cannot trust them. Be wary.' Knowing her father was a wise man, she knew she couldn't disobey him, she'd never want to make him upset. He was her only family after all. Although she never did question him, she couldn't help but wonder why her father would rarely ever let her talk to anyone besides him. It just didn't make any sense.
..
Finally finding an empty compartment, Josette practically flung the door open to claim it! Quickly closing it behind her she took a quick glance around the quiet compartment. It was almsot a bit too quiet, but it only made her think of home, so you could say that it didn't really bother after a few moments. Although, Josette REALLY wished she hadn't left her owl, Edwin, back in the Luggage Compartment! He was probably so lonely back there! Perhaps she could sneak back there & feed him a treat later? …BUT UNTIL THEN!
Her tiny feet ran to the window & within an instant her little hands, along with her face, were pressed against the window as she watched moving scenery in front of her! It was so AMAZINGLY…different!

Dylan carried his armload of things along the corridor of the train, peeking into each compartment as he went. Merlin, the seats were filling up fast! He spotted an older girl sitting alone. "She looks like she needs company!" he thought to himself as he adjusted the things in his arms so he could hold them up longer.
He slid open the door and cleared his throat to get her attention. "Hi, do you mind if I join you?" he asked with a smile. The weight from his things was driving him nuts and he was worried he was about to drop it all...he held his breath and clutched it tightly against him, smiling at the girl.

Tessa laughed. "I guess I'll never get that 'transfer student' look off of me," she joked, shaking her head. "I'm Tessa, by the way," she said, giving a small wave. "Is it always this crowded on the train?" she asked.
She glanced over to see some other students and waved, inviting them in.

What was that noise?
Josette jumped at the sound of the compartment door clicking open. Her clear blue eyes were immediately brought away from the moving scenery outside to the sight of a boy who looked a little older than her standing in the doorway with his arms full of bags. She felt her heart practically leap out of her chest.
With her back glued to the window, she just stared at him for how long she had no idea, but it must have been more than a minute or so. All the while of this silence though, a familiar voice kept ringing through her ears, 'Strangers are Dangerous.' Josette almost didn't hear the boy's question over the ringing voice in her head. But she heard the last of his words though. Could he join her?
If her father was near, she'd have automatically have said no. But she couldn't help but feel really bad for this boy carrying all of this stuff. Her eyes narrowed briefly as she studied him, wondering if this was someone her father was always warning her about. Although, her father never did give a specific description of a 'Dangerous Person', and this boy surely didn't make her feel too afraid. After a few more moments of silence, the eleven year old slowly nodded her head, before she let out a cautious, "..Alright?"

"Goodness, you would think they would extend the train and make it a little roomier if they knew it got this crowded," she said, shaking her head. "Another school had us ride in carriages- they could fit 20 easily, even though they only appeared to be able to fit a handful. That was nice," she said, grinning.

"Since you're 4th year?" Tessa repeated, curious. She was about to ask where Christmas had gone previously when the girl answered. Her lips flickered in a smirk for a moment before fading.
"Ah, I see," she said. "So, what do I need to know about Hogwarts?" she asked, quickly changing topics.

Sixth year. Mo really ought to be sitting up in the Prefect Car, and he felt like he WOULD make his way there eventually, but at the moment, he was interested in taking up as much room in this car all by himself. The Prefect compartment was always a bit squished, and Mo didn't really want to deal with someone sitting half on him and sweating in his personal space.
Mo liked people, though. He really really did.
So he spread out on one whole side of a compartment, measuring his growth by how much he had to bend his legs. How close was the trolley?

Sander was now making his way through the middle section of the train when he noticed someone he didn't know but that wasn't what stopped him in his tracks. It was the badge the older boy was wearing. According to the other Gryffindor girl who obviously was a prefect but didn't want to admit it, all those with badges had their own special compartment.
That's what intrigued Sander. That this boy was hanging out with the regulars.
So he poked his head in...
"So not wanting to be nosy or anything but how come you're not sitting in that special compartment of people with badges like you? I'm Sander a transfer." he asked the boy.
Yes transfer meant he would be inquisitive about anything.
Yes Sander wanted to know because....he wanted to know whether this boy would help sneak him in...and that way he would have said he had thoroughly explored the entire train.

Now, Schuyler had just found an empty compartment that seemed to be situated in an OK area that was not too overrun with pipsqueaks. Although said pipsqueaks were, admittedly, sometimes cute. But just as she had opened the door, someone had squeezed inside the compartment in the moment's time that Schuyler lingered outside it. And who might have done the squeezing? One Cassia Somerlad.
"Why, hello, lovely," Schuyler greeted in return, a grin of equal size on her face. She slipped into the compartment as well and claimed a seat beside her friend. "Are you kidding? Of course not." Silly. She grinned and crossed her legs as she looked over to the Slytherin again and....
Hold up.
Schuyler paused and then suddenly lifted her hand to touch the badge that now adorned Cassia's top. "Cassia!" This was certainly a new addition. And because it had been unknown to her until now, she gave her friend a light shove on the shoulder. "You got prefect?! That's awesome!"
Hope tried her best to catch the fluff ball as it scurried down the corridor. She had yet to find a compartment and Poppy the Purple Pygmy Puff was not too content with being trapped on her shoulder for another minute. He had jumped down and, in a blink of an eye, disappeared in the feet of people leaving her to search individual compartments for him. One by one she poked her head in each compartment occupied or not.
"Has anyone seen a purple pygmy puff?" She asked anyone and everyone she came by hoping someone would know where the fur-fluff thing had gone. She really wished her mum had just gotten an owl for her. Average as it may have been to own an owl, she probably wouldn't have had to chase it down.

It had taken walking up and down the corridor more than once to decided on which part of the train she'd settle for. After seeing students fall over each other in the corridor, Beverly found it safer to step back and settle for a compartment around what she figured was the middle cars.
She had several theories behind her decision. The front cars were too exposed. If something came at the train the front would get first impact. Beverly liked being first--actually, she preferred to always come in first. But when it came to life, she'd rather not be first in threatening situations.
Then there was the back cars. That was another unfit choice. If something came from behind the train, then they'd receive first impact. At the end, she decided the middle cars would be best. She'd be spared from head on collision. Not that she wanted anything to happen. Beverly has heard many stories, she was just being cautious.
Sitting next to the window she placed the several books she'd brought for light reading on her lap. One was about dragons. The second about wand cores and woods. The third about potions. She was still dazzled with her Aspen and Dragon Heartstring wand, she drew it out and set it next to her.
Having a wand as a companion wasn't so bad. Besides, she had her books as well. The only thing that sucked was having parted from her brother. She'd even felt sad saying goodbye to annoying John and cute Danny. But this was the start of her journey and she was ready to tackle it head-on.
Beverly flipped the book on dragons open and began to read. Was three books enough to keep her entertained until the train arrived at Hogsmeade?

Sander stuck his head out of the compartment when he heard someone ask whether anyone had seen her pygmy puff.
What's with people and their pygmy puffs. Those animals needed to be on leashes.
Sander looked around in the compartment he was in, under the seats especially, since those pesky creatures loved to hide....oh yes he had plenty of experience with those his sisters had at home.
No hers wasn't here. So he called out to her.
"No I don't see your puff in here. Where did you last see it? Maybe it's hidden itself inside your trunk?" Sander suggested...knowing also from experience that's what they liked to do too.

Hope crossed her arms and looked at the older student. "I saw him on my shoulder last. He hoped down and took off. I lost sight of him in the tidal wave of people trying to find a compartment." She sighed in frustration at his suggestion. "I agree, he might have ended up in my trunk...if it was open." Let's use our brains people. Pygmy puff may be sneaky but they couldn't open locked things without hands.
Maybe she made a mistake of letting it live over break. "Are you sure it's not in your compartment?" She marched into the compartment double checking behind him. "Maybe he's in your trunk?" Assuming the older boy has his trunk open.

O_o girl had attitude...Sander liked that....sometimes. Hey he was only trying to help. But he gave her the benefit of the doubt being that she most likely was more worried about finding her puff than being more careful about her manners.
"Nope I checked first even before replying to you."....which I could so not have....
"And no your puff isn't in my trunk since I don't have my trunk in here with me." Sander told her trying to restrain himself from sticking his tongue at her...just like his sisters would always do with her.
"So I guess your puff has flown the coop. Who knows maybe someone will find him or her and will keep it until you come across them." he told the girl.
Should he offer to help to look for it? Let's wait and see whether girl's attitude changes for the better first. So Sander sat back down and crossed his arms.

Hope crossed her arms and huffed. Maybe she should just go keep looking on her own. Obviously someone who thinks that a small ball of fluff can unlock, open, and climb into a trunk and fly, isn't really the best person to help her look for the fluff in question.
She grit her teeth and swallowed against the metallic taste that popped in her mouth as she said words that usually would never cross her lips under most circumstances. "Thank you for your help." She gave him a smirk. "You might want to read up on your magical creatures though. Pygmy puffs don't know how to unlock and open things and they definitely can't fly." Even in the end, she had something rather cocky and a tad rude to say.
