A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.
To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.
In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.

The library, perfect.
Tessa wandered the shelves, trailing her fingers over the spines of the books. She couldn't see herself spending a whole lot of time here reading- but it was definitely a cool place to explore. What was it with libraries being interesting places? BUt, that was a thought for another day.
The library was a perfect place to start looking for secret passages. How many times had she heard of someone just pulling a book out and a door opening? She'd even found one once at a previous school. So, naturally, she checked every library she could.
"Where could you be?" she muttered to herself, wandering among the shelves.
So the lake hadn't worked out. Especially with the getting-hit-on-the-face-with-a-beanie-with-ears thing in front of a BOY. Bev hadn't caught what he or the beanie's owner had said because she was too busy walking away all embarrassed. It was probably apologies she didn't want to hear.
Her next stop was the library. If someone threw her a beanie here then she'd simply return the favor with an encyclopedia. A very thick one at that.
Standing in front of the dragons' section, she skimmed the spines of the books for any she hasn't read.

Marigold walked into the library and then - SMELLED the books. That smell was PERFECT wasn't it? Skipping quietly over to the shelves, she started perusing the books.

Silver kept roaming the castle, trying to remember where everything was located and not get lost.
Library was next!
Smiling to herself she walked I and began looking through the shelves.
Bing! A lightbulb turned on, in the young girl's head.
Helloooooo!
Silver recognized the young girl looking through the books. It was beanie girl! With a BIG smile on her face, Silver waved at the girl her beanie nearly suffocated.

HOLLY SNITCHES!
The big-haired girl was right THERE. WAVING at her with a HUMONGOUS smile on her face. Bev turned back the shelf in front of her.
Nope. This wasn't happening. She didn't want to talk to her. It was her fault she'd been humiliated in front a boy. Not that it was a big deal, but come on! It was her first day out on her OWN.
Turning away as stiff as a robot, Bev walked the opposite direction of Fluffy, pretending to not have seen her and onto another bookshelf.

BYE.
I'm gonna catch yoooooou!
Silver sped walk behind the young girl. Creepy? Maybe. Did she care? Not really.
Found you!
Silver found Beanie Girl and smiled at her. "Hi!" She cheerful greeted her. "I'm Silver." She said. "My beanie swatted your face, remember?" Silver added.
Somehow Silvy managed to block out the part where the young girl didn't want to be spoken to.

Dylan entered the library, smiling as the doors shut behind him. He had missed a lot of places at Hogwarts, especially the library. It was always so peaceful and nice inside, and he always got a warm feeling inside when he would visit it.
Walking along the shelves and observing the books, he noticed a familiar fellow Hufflepuff was here as well, sniffing the books. He grinned and snuck up behind her, then gave her a quick hug. "Hi, Mari!" he said in a hushed voice, in case others around them were reading.

This was going to be interesting....
GAH. MERLIN. WHY?
Beverly stood her ground, pretending to be in deep thought. Then Fluffy started talking. The urge to walk away was very high. But then she had to go ahead and mention the beanie incident.
"Yes, I remember that, how could I not?" Picking a random book she took it from the shelf and opened it. "You should use a sticking charm so it won't happen again." Just FYI.

He totally did. He was taller than her now. Gah. Why was she so short? Her parents were tall. She got the bad genetics.

As for her name, she wasn't telling just yet.
Sticking charm? Ah, yes! She should use it from now on.
"You're right! I will do so next time." Silver nodded. "What's your name? You do have a name, right?" She asked, if she didn't get a name from her then she'll go down in Silver's history book as "Beanie" or "Beans".
"What you reading?" Silver asked. Was this girl simply too shy? Or was her tongue caught in the books? Silver wondered many possibilities.

"I know I am," she mumbled, leafing through the book. Hmm. She'd grabbed a potions book at random. The irony of life. Heh.
Holding the urge to toss Fluffy Silver the book in her hands, Bev took a second to inhale a deep breath. Her brother would frown upon her if she gave this girl a concussion with a book. "Of course, I do. Everyone has a name." STILL NOT TELLING YAH FLUFFY.
Rolling her eyes, Bev closed the book and hugged it to her chest. "Why do you want to know? Why are you here anyway?"

AND WHY DOES YOUR HAIR HAVE SO MUCH VOLUME?
Silver giggled. "Why are you so grouchy?" She asked, Beans.
You have issues, girl.
"I just wanna be your friend." Silver mumbled followed by shrugging her shoulders. "I don't bite.--Well I can, but I won't." She shrugged once again.
"You won't make any friends if you keep being all snappy." Silver said.

She wasn't grouchy. More like still embarrassed and wanted to be left alone and wallow in it. She was just about to tell Silver to go and take a hike, but stopped dead in her tracks.
Fluffy wanted to be her FRIEND?
Well, holly Chinese Fireball, she wasn't expecting this. She glanced at Silver with a cautious gaze. "Beverly. My name is Beverly Wayne." That was also a cue to: Yes, okay, we'll try this friendship stuff.
"And I'm not snappy. I just have attitude." Her brother said so. SO THERE.

Awwww her name was Beverly. Silver smiled. "See that wasn't so hard, Beverly. Very decent name too!" She beamed.
Ahhhhh I like her already! Silver thought to herself with a smile in her face.
Guuuuurl yes you do have an attitude.
"I noticed. I have attitude too. But just when I really need to bring it!" Silver grinned and nodded.

With his pets for the time being playing nice with each other sharing the same basket under the front desk Leo left it to inspect the shelves. With a roll of parchment tugged under an arm he mop-haired man headed towards the section with just rows upon rows of bookcases.
Ducking down an aisle with his self-inking quill poised over the parchment he scribbled notes on what he needed to restock when he heard a faint voice. Following the voice Leo turned around a bookcase his eyes landed on a girl.

"Hello, can I help you?"
Tessa was sure that this book case had something. She had tried gently removing a few books, only to have them catch for a moment before sliding right out into her hand. She had also checked for secret levers behind the books- but no luck.
NAturally, her odd behavior would attract the librarian. She winced and turned the face the man with a smile. "No, I'm fine thank you," she told him with a warm smile. "I'm just looking for..." she reached out for the next book, pulling it toward her. It caught it what she thought was the right way and she whipped around to see if there would be a secret passage yawning to her.
But no.
The book came into her hand, revealing its title: "Watching Grass Grow." Tessa made a face and quickly placed the book back. "Not that book," she assured the librarian.
Awwww her name was Beverly. Silver smiled. "See that wasn't so hard, Beverly. Very decent name too!" She beamed.

She ignored the way Silver spoke to her. She wasn't a child who needed complimenting on her actions. But yeah. Friends. Totally.
So Fluffy had an attitude as well? It hardly seemed like it. She reminded Beverly of a pink bouncy ball. So girly and bouncy. "That's cool...I suppose."
Not really, but she owed her a compliment in return. Bev placed the book back in the same spot she'd gotten it from and picked another one. Random, of course. "Anyway, what are you doing here? Weren't you with your boyfriend?"
She wasn't sure if the boy from the lake was Silver's boyfriend. It was just an estimated guess.

"I came here to apologize. I kinda felt bad." Silver nodded, she was genuinely apologizing.
Boyfriend? Hahahaha no!
Silver giggled.
"No." She shook her head. "Bay's not my boyfriend, silly," Silver continued. "I'm more of the no strings attached type of girl." She nodded.
Now curiosity sank into Silver's mind.
Does Bevy have a boyfriend?
"And what about you, do you have a boyfriend?" Silver wiggles her eyebrows. "I can totally ask a dude to go on a double date with you!" Oh the ideas Silver had.

Was there a non-sarcastic bone in Beverly's body?
"Oh," was all Bev said. Apologies, she wasn't good with accepting nor returning them. She blamed it on pride. Her family suffered much of that, but no one did anything about it. At least they were honest with each other.
Bev opened the book, but didn't pay much attention to it. So the guy's name was Bay and he wasn't Silver's boyfriend and..."no strings attached." Bev's eyebrows creased. TMI, FLUFFY, TMI.
BLUUUSH. WHAT?
She, Beverly Wayne, having a boyfriend? That was both comical and a nerve-wrecking to the third year. It even made her a bit self conscious, not that'd she tell anyone. As far as the impression she gave out was that of a quiet and composed girl. Or at least she hoped.
So when she thought about Silver's question again, the blush spread deeper throughout her cheeks. "I-I don't have one." LAME WAYNE. LAME. "B-But...I totally get what you mean about no strings attached." She waved her hand as if it was a piece of cake, though, she had no idea how that worked.

GAAAAAAH!
Ah. She knew exactly what Silver was talking about?! How cool!
We are so gonna be best friends! Silver thought to herself, as a huge smile spread on her face.
"Well look at you, you little quiet monkey." Silver giggled. "So that means you've played the field?" Referring to has she just had special guy friends without the relationship aspect.
It was clear that Silver was not only hair crazy, but also boy crazy. The Gryffindor common room seemed to have lots of eye candy roaming around.

He had in fact grown a lot taller over the summer, surprisingly. He was growing faster than he had expected. Not that that was a bad thing, or anything. "Yeah, I am a bit taller!" he told her with a nod. "But anyway," he said, looking around them at the books. "What brings you to the library?"

Let the sickly cute nicknames begin. That wasn't such a big deal as Silver's next questions. Bev's hands trembled under the book, not from it's weight, but because she might have said the wrong thing and now Silver was getting the wrong idea about it.
So, what?
It made her sound cool, no?
Collecting herself before her anxiety showed, Bev shrugged her shoulder in a "what if I have?" sort of way. "A few times." She raised an eyebrow at Silver. "Haven't you?"

Marigold squeezed Dylan a bit harder, stopping just short of making him yelp. They WERE in a library, after all. She smiled at him. He had a quiet laugh, boohoo. She attempted to giggle softly and ended up having a coughing fit, so she just stuck to being a little bit loud. "You are a LOT taller!" she stage whispered to him. Or maybe she was just shrinking. "Oh! I just am looking for a good book to read to relax. Why are you here?
Yay, Hamlet! • Cathopper • Disney Fanatic • I was normal once...
Cosette ran a finger along the bindings of the books as she walked down the aisle. Goodness gracious, she has never seen so many books in one place before! She pondered if the library in Versailles was this big; she surely should go visit it when she went back home for the holidays -- well, if she was going back home. So far, she was enjoying her time at Hogwarts; it was nice to get away from being put in the spotlight by her parents.
People didn't know her here, and that's what made it nice. She was starting fresh.
She stopped walking when she got to the romance section and looked at the title of the book her finger was pressed up against. Hm... She looked around to see if anyone was watching before pulling the book from the shelf.
Generally, Cosette Beaulieu was not one for romance, but she was curious.
