If you wish to meet with Professor Hadley, Hufflepuff Head of House, Arithmancer, and Muggle Studies Enthusiast, please schedule an appointment via owl.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Professor Hadley is a busy woman, but she is always welcoming to you once you've secured an appointment with her. When you enter her office, you will notice it's arranged similarly to her former office on the second floor (assuming you've visited there). The walls have been painted a light blue-gray color and there are a handful of paintings hung around the room, giving off a rather comfortable aura. One of the paintings is a rendition repainted by Josephina, herself, of a canal near her hometown in Perugia, Italy. There is a framed miniature Italian flag, as well as a third painting of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As with typical office decorum, there is a large, polished wooden desk. There are a few neat stacks of papers and worksheets on the desk. There are also a few framed photographs sitting on her desk; her sisters, her parents, her colleagues, and her niece and nephew as well. There's also another five-by-seven framed photograph of a handsome young gentlemen; like the young girl, he'll have the tendency to disappear and re-appear and may blow kisses once in awhile too. Behind the large wooden desk sits a black executive style chair. Directly on the other side of the desk - where visitors may sit - are two smaller black chairs, but still just as comfortable.
There's a bookcase on the left side, which contains various titles that Josephina collected over the years. Some these include, but are not limited to, The Complete Book of Numerology, New Theory of Numerology, Numerology and Gramatica, A Look Into The Future, and Olde and Forgotten Bewitchments and Charmes. There are also muggle classic books by Charles Dickens and Jane Austen, for which are a few of Fina's guilty pleasures.
Be careful as you enter the door, as her puppy, Baisley, has been very jumpy lately and loves to jump on visitors and play. Her kitten gifted from recent graduate, Lorelai Bristol, in which she conveniently named Bristol, is typically just lounging on one of the bookshelves, playing quietly with a ball of yarn. Just entering without permission is rude and punishable with either point deduction and/or detention for being disrespectful.
OOC: New this term, you MUST wait until your character has been invited in before you post. In order to be invited in, you need to request an appointment with Professor Hadley via owl (PM).

Hadley.
Was it weird for her to be nervous about visiting her Head of House? Probably. Ella had the utmost respect for the woman, and knew how awesome she was, but she also couldn't help but feel uneasy now that she had the added weight of the Head Girl badge on her chest. The fear of disappointing the professor was a lot to handle and where she'd had that fear before, it was tenfold now.
Holding on to Alec's hand, the blonde stopped in front of the door and smiled a little at him. They had an appointment so there was no need to hesitate but she needed a second. And in that second she gave his hand a squeeze, released it, and knocked two times on the door.
Best to be polite, yeah?
"Think we should have brought her cookies or something?"

There was a lot to be nervous about. For this seventh year, this was the first time he was visiting a Professor's office, let alone Hadley's. Sure, it was only Hadley: the woman who had talked to him about her family that one time in the Stands and had a lot of support for her Hufflepuffs. But, then again, it was Hadley: their Head of House and the woman who thought that they'd be good at... this.
See? Lots to be nervous about.
The holding hands part was nice, though. Alec appreciated the gesture and was a little bit saddened when she had to let go and knock on the woman's door. But... you probably couldn't hold hands in front of your Head of House, right? What would the woman think? And since his hand was free, he used it to ruffle his hair instead. Ruffle ruffle ruffle...
"Erm... maybe? Do we know what her favourite cookies are?" For future reference. They could bring some the next time they come here.
... Next time. Maybe they could... see how this one goes first? Yeah. Awesome.

Hadley was only slightly surprised by the request of her two prefects to visit with her. They were generally speaking, well-behaved students who rarely needed her assistance or guidance. Which ideally made them extraordinary candidates for the position of Head Boy and Girl. So when they requested an appointment, Hadley did not expect it to be sour news.
Yawning into the back of her hand - despite the early hour - Hadley heard the knock and bounded up from her seat to open the door.
"Morning Badgers!" Hadley greeted cheerfully, ushering them both in and grazing Alec's shoulder as such which caused the brunette's eyes to suddenly bulge open, her mouth dropped and she let out a low shrill, "aahhhhh!!"

There was no time to fully comprehend what Ells had said about Hadley's favourites because, before he knew it, the door was being opened. He did hear the word peppermint, though, which was now floating around in his head. Future reference, you know. "Hey Professor!" Alec grinned at the sight of their Head of House while his nervousness mounted. This was it. The talk was going to--
...
O__O
... What...?!
"Professor!" he called, gripping onto her arm to, not only support himself, but to keep her up too. You know, just in case she was about to fall from... that graze or whatever it was that had just happened. And she was shrieking. Grey eyes as wide as galleons, he looked over at Ells before looking back at their head of house again. Don't panic. What would Treyen and Oakey and Wade do?
"Erm... does it hurt anywhere? Do you need the Healer?" ... It was the best he could do. He was also trying his best not to think about that Prefect's event with the Dementors where Hadley... shudder.

When Alec gripped onto her arm, Hadley's whole arm began to shake violently for a good minute .... "I ....... you've got a lot of charge built up !!" Fina managed to say through forced chattering teeth. "Must be the static electricity in your hair!"
Then almost as quickly as she had started shaking, she stopped and just grinned at them. "Sorry, sorry! Do come in though. Please. Have a seat. And try to avoid anything that might increase that charge, Alec." You know. Like the girlfriend, probably.

What...on earth?
O____O
Ella's eyes widened even further when Hadley's arm started to shake and she was starting to wonder if the woman was allergic to her boyfriend. Could that happen, even? Probably. Crazier things were possible. But still.
And then...SNORT!
"His..hair?"
Ella couldn't help it and she quickly clapped a hand over her mouth to prevent laughter because of all things, Alec's HAIR was the source of enough electricity to shock Hadley. The Hadster. Alec's hair. Ehehehe. He was not going to like this. She'd have to give him hair ruffles later...when he wasn't so dangerous.
Heh.
The blonde composed herself and shot an amused smile at Alec before taking a seat, making a point to inch her chair a bit further away from his than necessary. She was teasing, of course, but it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

The woman was shaking. Alec's eyes widened even more, if possible, and he glanced over at Ells with an expression that clearly said 'HELP' spread across his face. What was going on?! Charge? He glanced over at Hadley who...
... Oh.
Static. Hair. Very funny, Hadley.
The panicked look turned into one of embarrassment and sheepishness. "Funny. Very... very funny," he said, the sheepish expression still spread across his face, "You know how to scare your students, Professor." And the girlfriend was laughing? Alec covered his face with his hands. This was... this was VERY embarrassing.
But they were allowed to go in so... he should follow the Head Girl inside, yeah? Uncovering his face, he looked over at Hadley and smiled. "Thanks for letting us come and see you Pro--" ... More static jokes. Which meant more sheepishness from the boy. "Professor!" He shook his head and let out a small chuckle before moving past her, making particular note to hold up his hands as he went.
And he saw that inching away. Yeah, he did. No kisses for you, girlfriend.

Was Ella LAUGHING at this?!? This was no laughing matter. Electricity and shock were SERIOUS business except the fact that she was laughing on the inside
But hey, at least she got them to avoid sitting in too close proximity. They did have responsibilities to uphold, not that she doubted them, considering they were both brilliant, well-known students.
"Just wanted to make sure you both were awake," Hadley smiled casually. "So, soo.... what can I do for you? Did you have redecorating suggestions in mind? Are our new first years behaving?" Because it was highly unusual for them to visit her; perhaps there was a troublesome badger already? Did one die?

She knew that look. She did. Puppy-dog eyes would be happening later to remedy the no kissing thing. Ella shot a small smile at Alec just in case and made a mental note that pouting might help too. Yes.
Anyway, everyone seemed settled now and it was time for a chat.
"Awake and happy to see you, Professor." Grin! It was true. Ella liked seeing Hadley, especially having witnessed things that made her think she might not to get to see Hadley again. Dementors were scary. Redecorating? Well, Lottie did hate yellow but no, Ella wasn't here on her behalf. She figured the brunette could handle that sort of thing on her own. As for the new Hufflepuffs, the blonde badger smiled. "So far, so good, Professor. At least from what I've seen. Tobias and I actually talked to a couple of younger students on the pitch about helping them fly." Nodnod. Ella then looked to Alec, wondering if he had anything different to report. They weren't always together, after all. Shocking, we know.
"I was actually coming for some advice, I guess? On stuff after Hogwarts."
urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse
Yeah, ELLA, this was no laughing matter. The sheepish expression stayed on his face for a while and he shook his head a little when she smiled at him. He had a feeling this would be brought back to him to embarrass him in the future.
Looking back at Hadley, he grinned and nodded along at Ella's comment. "Yeah, it's really great to see you again," Shock and all. The boy sat back a little and looked over at the blonde girl as she started talking. New Hufflepuffs flying? That meant new recruits to the team, right? Alec... did like that. Approving nods for you, Bishop.
And did Alec have anything new to report? "Erm..." What could he say? 'Hey Hadley, I had an AWESOME conversation with someone about how to take care of your hair and deal with girls going over a heartbreak'? ... No. "I think some of the new Hufflepuffs are fitting in really well. I mean... I've seen them in the common room," Not... creepy, right? "... and it looks like they're getting along well with each other. Even talking excitedly about classes and magic." Which was awesome to see, really.
Advice. His grey-blue eyes landed on the Head Girl and he sat there, watching her curiously. Stuff after Hogwarts... he had questions, of course. Lots of them. Ones that he'd ask later.
YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers
Aw! Warmed Hadley's heart just now. She liked when visits were good ones. Unlike the one she was going to have to have with Donny, since Annie addressed all to head to their common rooms and she never got to finish what happened at the boats. Tobias talking to some younger ones about helping them fly? Interesting and very good. Nodding at Ella, she waited to hear what else.
Advice? "Well there's all kinds of possibilities. You, um,..." she paused as she pulled open her desk drawer and perused the contents for a moment before removing two manila folders from the drawer - one for Alec and one for Ella - which were unsurprisingly thin folders. "Strong in Magical Creatures, Defense, History, Astronomy, and well ... almost everything actually, but I do reckon you have a keen interest for Creatures and Runes, no? Which leaves your options wide open. I reckon you're also not necessarily interested in perusing Professional Quidditch after graduation?" That was a question, because if she was interested in Quidditch, then it changed things.
And Alec ... ah, reporting about new Hufflepuffs excitedly talking about classes and magic! "Very good then." She nodded at Alec. And ... he didn't want to discuss his future? In front of le girlfriend? Well alright then. Some people were more quiet and personal about their future like herself and the few people who knew what happened last summer.

A folder.
One with her name on it, no less. She probably shouldn't be surprised but her expression betrayed her a bit, eyes on Hadley as she read off a list of subjects Ella was strong in. The blonde nodded at Hadley's assumption, thinking she knew her pretty well, Hadley did. "I'd say Creatures is at the top of my list, Professor. I've been thinking I might like to continue with that. Maybe pursue magizoology." She glanced over at Alec and then back up to her Head of House, a nervous smile playing on her lips. Was that...a stupid idea or?
As for Quidditch. "I love Quidditch but I'm not sure I'm fit for a professional team."Despite what some of her friends said. There were many players more talented than she and she couldn't see herself being picked out of the bunch. "Plus my dad really wants me to go to Uni."
The blonde then glanced over at Alec curiously, wondering why he was being so quiet. Did he not want to talk about his stuff in front of her because she could go if that was the case. She didn't mind. Or well, she sort of did but she wouldn't say anything about it.
urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse
Alec sat up a little and watched curiously as Hadley pulled out two folders, which were both pretty thin. This was a good thing, right? And did it have everything in there to do with academics? The boy had numerous questions about this but kept quiet. They were talking about other things yeah? Things like...
... his girlfriend being BRILLIANT.
His eyebrows shot up and he turned to look over at her, a big 'I told you so' expression spread across his face. Was she going to believe him now? She should. Creatures and Ancient Runes... there wasn't something you could do that would use both of those subjects, right? Probably not. Magizoology was perfect for her, according to the boy so... nods for you, Bishop.
... And there was the not believing thing again. "I think you can make it if you want to," he piped up, smiling a little. Or... maybe it was a good thing she wasn't going to. Bludgers, you know. And she'd be likely to get hurt. Not good.
Erm... both of the ladies -- who were both shorter, older and yet wore metaphorical pants better than him -- were looking at him. Was he meant to talk about future things or...? Grey-blue eyes focused on Hadley again. "Erm..." He wasn't prepared for this. "I... have been thinking about playing professional Quidditch for a really long time. I mean... I don't know if I can see myself doing anything else," Or if he was good enough at other subjects to do anything else. "... and Quidditch seems like the right path. ... I think." And he tried to put on a confident smile.
YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers
Was that an expression of surprise on the Head Girl's face? Honestly, she was her Head of House; of course she would have a file for her students with their academic and disciplinary information. But good, good, her assumptions about Ella were correct. "There's all kinds of possibilities with magizoology. Research, teaching, or just general care for them. So I think its a great idea." Fina nodded and smiled, to show her appreciation of the idea.
"I completely understand about Quidditch. Sometimes, even if you're a great player, which you are, it's better to just leave those things behind at graduation..." Fina agreed. "Or at least, keep them reserved for extracurriculars, but not your primary career. There's always leagues that are less ... competitive." Just in case she was interested. "But I think Uni would be a good choice. Perhaps a school where there's creature reservations nearby... of a particular creature you're fascinated by."
...and Alec was still being all quiet. Until the conversation turned to quidditch. In which he - of course - had confidence in her. But if she didn't want to, then she didn't have to. Professional Quidditch wasn't for everyone who played during their Hogwarts careers, after all.
Oh good. He spoke of his future interests, which of course, included Quidditch. "I'm fairly sure you'd be a good fit for a Professional Quidditch Team. However, your academic grades are quite well enough that I think... if Quidditch didn't work out, you'd do well in other vocations, as well." You know, just in case. Things happened. "There's also other aspects of Quidditch besides playing, which might interest you. I also think you'd do well as a curse-breaker." He was one of her better students when it came to Arithmancy, after all.

Ella read Alec's 'I told you so' expression loud and clear and had they not been with Hadley, she probably would've stuck her tongue out at him. Mature, she was. It was sweet that he thought so highly of her, though. Alec was pretty great at thinking she could do whatever she put her mind to and sometimes he was able to make her think that too. Lucky girlfriend over here. Yup.
But back to Hadley because staring at Alec could only lead to kissing and that wasn't allowed, especially not in front of their Head of House. "I'm glad you think so, Professor. I um..I'm thinking of talking to Professor Thompson as well, seeing what advice he might have since he's teaching Care of Magical Creatures." That was a good idea, yeah?
Something about the fact that Hadley thought she was a great player made Ella's cheeks go a bit pink. It was nice to hear, unexpected even. It just... meant a lot that the woman had recognized her for that. As for Alec encouraging her, the blonde reached over and gave his hand a quick squeeze, a small smile playing on her lips. Hugs later for you, Summers. Definitely. "I was actually thinking I might like to do that, play on the side. I wouldn't ever want to give up Quidditch for good, even if I don't want to play professionally." And maybe she could have the best of both worlds this way. ...Maybe. As for the universities by reservations, the blonde nodded. "Dragons or Unicorns, professor. Those are the creatures that interest me the most."
And the more she talked to Hadley, the more Ella realized that sorting out her future wasn't as complicated as she made it out to be. She knew what she wanted, it was just a matter of going after it and not being afraid.
Now boyfriend was getting 'I told you so' looks because Hadley had basically said he could do anything he wanted, Quidditch or school. See, Alec? You're brilliant. And the curse breaking stuff? Ella's eyebrows raised slightly, impressed. That sounded like a really cool profession. Really, really cool.
urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse
To say that Alec was pleased with this conversation was an understatement; the big grin spread across his face clearly showed exactly how happy he was. Why? Because they were talking about how brilliant the Head Girl was. They should do this more often, yeah? Because the girl needed to be convinced. And it was much better than talking about electrical currents from hair.
And... speaking of hair... he was just going to try and look towards the nearest reflection as discreetly as possible. Hello hair.
Shaking his head, he looked back at the two ladies in time for... hand squeezes. GRIN. He squeezed her hand back gently before looking between the two ladies as they talked. The boy had nothing to add to the conversation, really. He wasn't brilliant at the subject, despite what his OWL grade had been. So... no comments. He was going to sit here looking awkward, yeah? Awe--
... Hold on. "What about elephants?" She wasn't called Ellaphant for no reason.
The 'I told you so' looks weren't missed. He shook his head at her before looking back at the Head of House. He was fit for a team? His grades were good enough. "You think so?" GRIN. ... And then his eyebrows rose. CURSE BREAKING?! This was high praise coming from Hadley. "Curse breaking sounds great but... don't you have to be incredibly smart for that? And do you need Herbology? Because... I don't take that." Plants were not his thing.
... Pause. "You mentioned other aspects and... what do you mean?"
At 10 to 3 on a fine October day, Leah the first year Hufflepuff headed up the stairs nervously to the first floor, where she had an appointment with her head of house. She had checked her appearance twice, but was still straightening her sleeves as she walked.
The corridor outside Professor Hadley's office was quiet, which made Leah much more nervous. Rehearsing what to talk about to the Professor later in her head, the girl knocked twice on the door.

Hadley had to admit that she was amused with how each one was pleased that they recognized each other's strengths, but hardly their own. "I think talking to the professor of a subject that strongly interests you is a great idea. Whilst I can give you the book explanations for possible fields dealing with Magical Creatures, I'm sure that Professor Thompson can provide you with an even greater insight on possible careers and what to do next if you're serious about magizoology." Hadley agreed.
Ah good. So they were in agreement on something else too. That quidditch could be played as an extracurricular. A less competitive way. Dragons or unicorns. Both of which were popular for Potions. She nodded though, as she jotted that down about creature specialties. "Yes, you'll definitely want to speak with Professor Thompson. I'm sure he can guide you further in regards to studying those creatures and narrowing down where to best complete your studies. Though I'd imagine Eastern Europe would be the choice destination for Dragon studies...." Speculations. Considering she knew of a large dragon reservation in Romania.
Elephants? Hadley stared between the two. Surely Ella liked elephants, but that was just cause her name was kinda in the creature, right? LIKE she didn't seriously want to study them, did she?
"If you needed Herbology for curse-breaking, I wouldn't stand a chance with the matter." Hadley smiled at the Head Boy. "Seriously. There's no plants in my office for a reason. Because they'd die within a day." Not to mention they might eat her. Cause they were eviiiillll!!! Even the most benign of plants, like the flitterbloom. Totally evil. "But I think you could do curse-breaking, if you wanted to. You do have more than just quick reflexes, after all. And last I checked, you enjoy both Arithmancy and Defense classes. A lot. Correct?" She wouldn't have suggested it, if she didn't think he was a good fit.
... "Yes. Other aspects of Quidditch. Such as officiating. Coaching. Sports Healer or Mediwizard. Or even just a job at the Ministry, working with the professional leagues and the international affairs to coordinate times and places for matches. Regulations that must be followed for games. And so on." So really there was more that could be involved than simply playing.

The corridor outside Professor Hadley's office was quiet, which made Leah much more nervous. Rehearsing what to talk about to the Professor later in her head, the girl knocked twice on the door.
So Hadley expects all kinds of visitors, but one she hadn't expected was the request from one of her first years to see her after only two months into the term. Alone. Was everything okay? Were her classes too difficult? Honestly, she didn't know what Leah wanted, but she was happy to meet with her regardless.
Hearing the knock, she bounded up and opened it. "Hello Leah! Welcome! Come in ... have a seat! Peppermint humbug, dear?" she offered, gesturing toward the candy dish, as she strode around and resumed her seat behind the desk.

Leah strained her ears and heard footsteps from behind the door. Looking down at her robes once more, she looked up and saw her head of house in front of her. "Hello Professor!" She greeted brightly.
She walked into the office and was immediately welcomed by a puppy. "Wow! What's its name, professor?" She said, patting the doggy on the head. Looking around the room she found another creature on the shelves. Smiling slightly at her professor's love for animals, she sat down on a comfortable chair and received the humbug the professor offered. "I love peppermint. Thanks, Professor!" The girl said grinning. She had calmed down a lot, and did not get the nervousness she expected.
"So, professor..." she said, after swallowing her candy (yes, she is quite quick at eating) "This is my... 2nd month in Hogwarts, and I'm not bad at adjusting here." She said, thinking. "I wanted to know when teachers say 'behave well', what exactly do they mean?" This was what Leah was thinking about for quite some time now.
