Gobstones Match: Gryffindor vs. Slytherin

The doors were wide open to let the Spring breeze into the building used for the Gobstones matches, and to hopefully blow away any dust that accumulated upon the surfaces of the playing field and benches. Though the wonderful Spring air should make up for the gloomy look the term's sixth and final match seemed to already have.

Red and green marbles were set out for the teams and the playing field had been marked. The benches and chairs were set up on either side of the arena, creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

When Leobald headed down from the castle to set up for the sixth Gobstones match of the term he walked down in the early spring morning air where the grounds were finally starting to uncover the plants and grass hidden under the winter month. By the time he had unlocked and entered the building his hands were cold but not badly. Pulling out his wand he warmed himself up before he fetched the stone bags and took a tour of the court and stands in the viewing area.

Everything looked good for the match so Leo took his place in the center of the court to wait for Medea and the players from Gryffindor and Slytherin. When the group of student's had formed around him he spoke as much as to them as the people in the stands. "Welcome everyone to the sixth and final Gobstones match of the season."

"Good luck to both houses and remember that horse-play won't be tolerated." he said putting emphasises on the last words. Giving the teams their stones, red to Gryffindor and green to Slytherin he took his place on the sideline.

In the first roll of the match the lions sent out Sarah Edwards against a nameless Slytherin. The two released their shooters. The green stone broke off first with exceptional speed. The spectators didn't even manage more thank blink before they heard a PLOP. The green stone had fallen into the snake pit. The red stone could meanwhile roll up next to the pit with ease.

"1 point to Gryffindor!" Mr Kitridge announched in his sonorous enhanced voice.

Advisor note: This game like the 5th game will be played with the snake pit variant where the objective is to get your house stone closest to the pit without falling in.

The second roll was an all girls affair as Zoe Tillstorm walked out to meet Sarah Edwards. The two girl's released their shooters. The stones sped off. It was clear from the start that it was going to be a tight race from start to finish as the green kept on the red's tail. Coming up to the pit the green could watch as the red stone fell over the edge causing a beam of gob to spray up on the lions bench. The green stopped next to the pit.

Zoe was momentarily distracted as she exchanged a glance with Cutty on the snake bench. It gave Sarah the opportunity to release her stone first. Unluckily for the lions Sarah's red stone had incredibly bad aim which was evident when it rolled to the right and off the court. The green stone which Zoe released hastily could roll up next to the pit without trouble.

Keeping her focus on the game Zoe released her shooter at the same time as Sarah. The two girl's watched their stones sped away from them. The green stone lead all the way up to the pit where the red stone tried a brave move that ended in a fall over the pit edge. The green stone barely managed to not get caught up as it opponent dissapeared.
