Muggle Studies Lesson One (Electricity: Building Simple Circuits)
The classroom has been arranged into a style that might be familiar to those of you who have been taught by Professor Hadley before; there's several round tables, along with five or six chairs around the tables. Each table is void of any materials or props (for now).
Professor Hadley is seated at the front of the classroom, mesmerized by the pulling of a simple string on a lamp. Light on, light off, light on, ...
ooc:take a seat and keep chatter to a minimum. We'll begin shortly as soon as enough people arrived. Lesson has begun (semi). No entering the class, but please pretend like you've been here the whole time. Thanks <3
Lesson Progression
First Question: Introduction and what are different types of Electricity you know of?
Answers and Next Question: So what type of unit is used in electricity which determines how dim or bright a light bulb will be?
Jake gave a smile and a wave as he entered the classroom to see Professor Hadley playing with the string on a lamp. "Good morning, Professor Hadley," he greeted. He then turned and took a seat at the closest table to him.

Alexa was no longer sure how she felt about walking into Muggle Studies. Professor Cerulean wasn't here anymore...this meant no more kool-aid and cupcakes. How was she meant to stay awake now? Pay attention and learn? Blasphemy! It simply couldn't be done. Her shoulders slumped the moment she walked into the room and was met with the biggest disappointment of her year. There...was no food. No sugar. No happy.
"Hello Professor." She said, suppressing a sigh.
Lex took a seat and gave a curious look to the woman. "Professor....why are you playing with the lamp?" That was plenty odd, it was. When she was younger she was told not to play with them...though she still didn't know why.
As Lex sat in her seat she couldn't shake the feeling that something else was missing, besides the obvious. After another minute, she knew just what. Music. There was no muggle music playing in the background that would give them some idea of what would happen in the class.
Everything was so foreign right now.

Stepping in to the classroom, Benjamin had to admit it was a bit, well, odd, seeing Professor Hadley there. He really wasn't sure what to make of her making the move to Muggle Studies. Though as long as he passed his OWLs well enough, he couldn't really complain, could he?
"Hi Professor," he said politely as he made his way to a desk place right near the middle. Middle of the middle. Not too keen, but not with the trouble makers neither. "Are we doing electricity today?" And was that lamp really THAT fascinating?

Needless to say, Muggle Studies was going an entirely different class now that it was going to be taught by Professor Hadley. And after reading the rules, Sky knew that one of those differences was going to be that there would be no food. Sigh. She was going to miss that.
But once she stopped into the room and found herself a seat, she thought that maybe it wouldn't be so bad. As soon as Hadley stopped playing with the lamp, that was. The flash made by the lighting devices flickering off and on was making her eye twitch. "Hello, Professor."Twitch, Twitch.

So actually? West had dropped Muggle Studies. He had. Because Cerulean's teaching style hadn't meshed with his mind at all and he'd walked out dissatisfied and not having learned anything after every single lesson. But Hadley was different. West didn't like Arithmancy overmuch because all that personality junk annoyed him, but he liked her well enough, so he decided to just... show up. And see.
Like for fun.
Yeah. He was attending a class for fun. To see.
Shh.
He went in and sat down in silence. Yep. Nothing to see here.

MUM insisted she at least give it a TRY. Not that she cared what her mum typically said, but WHATEVER. Here she was.
And there was her cousin. Sighing slightly she entered the classroom and greeted the professor. Blah. She was obviously going to be a worse teacher than the DADA one if she was that entranced with a damn lamp.
Without really thinking about it she plopped into a seat beside Benjy and completely ignored him. She was not in the mood for chatting.
So Hadley was teaching Muggle Studies. Interesting. But why was she pulling on that light. On, Off, On, Off. It was kind of memorizing. Which is why it took Nigel a extra couple second to remember to greet her.
"Hello Professor Hadley. Nice Lamp"
Oh. Would you look at the desks. It was like a normal Arithmancy lesson. Now to take a seat.

Kace made it to muggle studies. He heard there was a new teacher teaching it this year. He wondered who it could be. When he arrived, he smiled and realized it was Professor Hadley!
Kace beamed at his head of house and waved to her. "Hello Professor, nice lamp you got there..." he said still looking at it turning on and off. It was quite mesmerizing. He realized the ravenclaw prefect did the exact same thing. He wasn't the only one.
As he made his way through the classroom, he found his desk in the middle and took a seat waiting for the lesson to being.
"Hi Professor Hadley," Fern greeted brightly. She had been eagerly waiting for this class, because Professor Hadley was the head of Hufflepuff, and therefore, the best professor ever. Which meant that this class was going to be the best class ever.
Plus the room was only one floor above the kitchens. Even though Fern was finally starting to get a sense of where everything was, this fact definitely helped a lot.
Looking around the room, Fern didn't immediately take a seat because it was full of people she didn't know. More exactly, TEENAGERS she didn't know.
But that was okay. She could pass for a thirteen-year-old. Easy. Straightening her spin, the 11-year-old walked over to the table the long haired, Slytherin boy was at, and sat down on his right, leaving a seat between them. Then she said, "'Sup" and jerked her head in a nod of recognition before turning her attention back to the professor.

Muggle Studies! Adi was excited! Excited about learning about Muggles from Wizard's perspective. He knew this subject was going to be easy for him, being half blood and all.
Oh! Lookie! It was their Head of House! "Hello, Professor,'' Adi said with a smile. Did she know his name? For safe measure, he decided to introduce himself. "I'm Aditya Rehman.'' Were they gonna be learning about light or lamps today?
Adi looked around. A few students had gathered already. Might as well find himself a seat.
Honestly, Adrienne wasn't a huge fan of Muggle Studies. It wasn't a terrible class or anything, it was just kind of... boring. She usually wouldn't be taking it, but Mamie had urged her to take every class possible, just to 'broaden her learning horizon' or something like that. So here, she was, nodding hello to her Arithmancy-turned-Muggle-Studies professor and taking a seat near the back of the classroom. She was prepared for about an hour of staring blankly at various walls, writing down a note every now and then, and maybe raising her hand to answer one or two questions. Funnn.

Hey, Cat enjoyed Muggle Studies. Not only was it really one of the more easy classes, but it was also rather fun as well. However, if only it had been taught by Professor Fuller, it would be perfect. Hadley was nice and pretty and things, but Cat much preferred Professor Facial Hair's face... and facial hair.
She smiled in the woman's direction before directing herself over to a seat. "Hello Professor Hadley." Will you have Fuller join you next time?

Muggle studies. This seemed to be an easier class for Tag. His family always, most of the time, went with the muggle side of things- so he knew a lot in terms of objects and life and such. But, he still came to this class because he liked it. An, he might learn different things about muggles and such from a different perspective of it being taught in a wizarding school.
What was the Professor doing?
Walking further into the classroom Tag simply nodded at her and said, "Hello, Professor!" Then he went to go find a seat and sat down.

Muggle Studies with Hadley.
Ella wouldn't miss it, obviously. She was anxious to see how her Head of House approached the subject and besides, she wanted to be supportive of the subject change. Mhm! She wore a smile as she entered the classroom, eyebrows raising a bit when she noted what the woman was doing. Interesting.
"Hello, Professor Hadley!" BEAM. "Cool lamp." Just saying.
And then the seventeen year old wandered over to one of the round tables and took a seat, ready to start.

Anya liked muggle studies. Why? Because she knew everything already. Easy points. And because she could use a phone and a computer and stuff in these rooms now. Woo!
"Hello Professor." she greeted coming into the classroom. ... why was she playing with a lamp...?
...
The Gryffindor then looked around before taking the seat next to her boyfriend. She offered him a small smile. This was okay, right?

Muggle Studies.
Well, Sophie supposed it would do her some good to take this class, but still...it had to be HARD for a child raised in a magical family. She'd been in that technology room, or whatever it was called, and if that any indication, she was going to be completely lost in this class.
Great.
She tried not to think about that too much as she passed by the professor in search of a seat. "Hello, Professor," she said, and then she took a seat at a nearby table.
Muggle Studies taught by Professor Hadley. He had been looking forward to the class all week.
Asher skipped into the room. He was beyond excited to see his Head of House sitting up front...playing with a lamp? "Hiya Professor Hadley!" He brightly said as he bounced by and towards his seat. "I see you like lamps."
His face flushed. 'I see you like lamps? Seriously?' he mumbled to himself, embarrassed and hoped no one had heard him. Asher quickly recovered his composure and took a seat. He couldn't wait for the class to start.

It was time for the weirdest class! ... You know... apart from Arithmancy.
But this class was weird in that Hadley was here teaching it instead. It had been a while since the announcement had been made but the boy still felt weird as he walked down the corridor towards the classroom, knowing fully well that his Head of House would be there. Or not. He still sort of expected her to make some sort of remark about numbers or possibly mention Bridget Wenlock or any other famous Arithmancer.
Alec readjusted his grip on his bag as he entered the classroom and turned to look over at... BLINK. A lamp? Not the genie kind, right? It was a regular kind of lamp, yeah? But... Hadley seemed to be flicking it on and off. Erm...? Eh. Shrug. "Hello Professor!" he called, grinning over at her and giving her a small wave. It was nice to be in one of her lessons again. And he had questions about the lamp. Lots and lots of questions! But...
... he'd just go and find a seat, yeah?
Couldnt his two favourite tiny blondes sit at the same table? it would have made things a lot easier for the hair ruffler. He waved at Ells and gave we an apologetic look before heading over to sit by Tag. Because... he kind of missed the leprechaun and wanted best mates time. Also, this meant that he wasn't likely to get distracted, yeah? Unless Tag decided that it was prime time to start hair modelling...

Wade walked towards his first Muggle Studies class. It was still interesting on how his Head of House was going to be taking over the subject this term. Even more so on how intrigued Professor Hadley was with the lamp. Entering after his best Hair ruffling mate, Spiffy Lec, the current motion waves his hair had been doing subsided as he stopped to greet.
Between the little flicks of the switching the lamp on and off, Wade beamed at her, "Hello, Professor Hadley.. nice lamp." He looked around later on to find a good place to sit, before deciding on choosing near where Captain Ella was, so she didn't have to feel alone. He smiled at her before dropping his bag down while sitting.
Hadley was teaching Muggle Studies now. That was weird. As in, you know, really weird, yeah? He actually missed her at the head of her old post with arithmancy, but, alas, now he had beard man.
Walking in tiredly, he smirked at her and said, "Hello Professor." Ascanius also might have wiggled his eyebrows, but that was all up to interpretation.
Muggle Studies. The important thing here was Hadley, honestly. Especially since Lottie never took Arithmancy, which would make this the first time she'll be at one of her lessons. Weird, yeah? Not so much since she'd seen the woman before, at least.
They already knew each other because, like, curtains. "Hi, Professor!" She greeted, with a small smile. Head of House Hogwarts.

Minerva headed to muggle studies a class she always enjoyed and even more so now that her favorite teacher was teaching it. Walking in she couldn't help but be a little disappointed of the lack of snacks and those oh so comfy bean bag chairs, but this was Professor Hadley's class now so of course things would be different. Moving on she stopped and watched for a few moment then walked closer to the desk. "Professor.." she didn't want to be rude, but shouldn't the muggle studies professor not be so hypnotized by a lamp. She had seen one before, right? This was why she was teaching this class right? If not she was very much so needed back in her old class, because that nut job didn't know what he was doing.
"Professor is there something wrong with the lamp?" Yes that was the explanation she had for her. Something had to be wrong with it and Hadley was fixing it. "Ready for your first lesson Professor? You were very missed in Arithmancy, but I think you noticed that in the bathroom. Umm" she leaned closer and in an almost whisper, " "Professor.. I might need some extra help for Arithmancy this year, I know you aren't teaching it anymore, but if you had any extra time." Plus she had said something about some secret something. Yes Minerva remembered and wanted to question her, but probably not here. So she turned and went to find the chair next to Wade.

Nerida headed to muggle studies a class she always enjoyed it was always full of fun and surprises... Event the Professor was a surprise Arithmancy and now Muggles Studies... Wonder why she changed. No snacks, no awesome bean bag chairs... It really was Professor Hadley's class just under a different name. Moving on she stopped in front of the Professors desk and watched as she pulled on the string of a lamp. "Hey...Professor Hadley its great to see you again!!" Since you know she had seen her in the bathroom when the girls pulled their rebellion.
"Its a very cool looking lamp, is it fun pulling on the string?" After giving the string a stare she gave a smile towards Professor Hadley before going to find a seat at one of the tables.

Another Gryffindor, who looked so sad? Why was she sad? Had she done something wrong ALREADY?!? Did Alexa Cambridge not know that she was to surprise and delight, rather than present all the goodies at the start of the lesson.
"Alexa... did you know...? no matter how many times you pull the string, the light still only goes on and off. Fascinating." Really, it was. Did she want a go at it too?

Couldnt his two favourite tiny blondes sit at the same table? it would have made things a lot easier for the hair ruffler. He waved at Ells and gave we an apologetic look before heading over to sit by Tag. Because... he kind of missed the leprechaun and wanted best mates time. Also, this meant that he wasn't likely to get distracted, yeah? Unless Tag decided that it was prime time to start hair modelling...
"Alec, hello!" Hadley beamed back at one of her brightest Arithmancy students. Speaking of Arithmancy students, there were a few others she expected to be here. Did they not like Muggle Studies?

Between the little flicks of the switching the lamp on and off, Wade beamed at her, "Hello, Professor Hadley.. nice lamp." He looked around later on to find a good place to sit, before deciding on choosing near where Captain Ella was, so she didn't have to feel alone. He smiled at her before dropping his bag down while sitting.
"Thanks Wade and hello!" Hadley greeted back to her prefect, as he found a seat.

Walking in tiredly, he smirked at her and said, "Hello Professor." Ascanius also might have wiggled his eyebrows, but that was all up to interpretation.
Smiiiiirk.
And then he sat.
"Hello Ascanius," she greeted back to the older slytherin.

They already knew each other because, like, curtains. "Hi, Professor!" She greeted, with a small smile. Head of House Hogwarts.
Lottie kept on walking towards Lex and joined her at the table. "Hi!" She was greeting her best friend before class started and they could talk no more... as if. Hadley should stop with the lamp now, we get it, you turn it on and off and then on again.
And Lottie! Was taking one of her classes! Because the girl didn't take Arithmancy, for whatever odd reason. But she was here now, which meant light on.
"Hello Lottie! Welcome!" You know, to muggle studies and to a Hadley lesson!

The next incoming student though who greeted her.... well the greeting came out more of a request. More of a ... I need to speak with you. Oh. Minerva.
Her hand held the string everso lightly, but she didn't pull it, as she listened to what the girl young adult had to say. "No. Nothing's wrong. But it does get everyone's attention rather nicely." And subtly, without loud noises or anything, other than the click of the string, when it turned on and off. Oh. They missed her in Arithmancy? Well yes, she recalled something about beards, which was weird. She kind of wanted to meet this new replacement and find out more about him. His background in the subject. Surely Truebridge wouldn't have hired him if he wasn't qualified, but what if he lied. What if he was a fake? Thoughts astray, they went back to Min, in time to catch her whispering. "Oh, oh, yes. Of course."

"Hello Nerida! Nice to see you on ... less hairy days, even," Hadley smiled at the seventh year. Don't worry, she wouldn't be making them wear beards again. That was just weird.
"I rather like the push button ones more. But the string lamps are okay."
And it seemed as if most, if not all, of who was coming today had arrived. Which meant time to stop the lamp string pulling. Leaving it in its on position, Hadley stood from her spot to introduce herself.
"Morning. As most of you know, I'm Professor Hadley. As a brief history, I taught Arithmancy for 10 years, but upon hearing about Professor Cerulean leaving Hogwarts for other opportunities, I've decided to take up Muggle Studies instead as the subject - and people - are quite fascinating. Not that it matters," because blood status didn't matter. "But I am a Half-blood, who grew up in a Muggle Community. My mother worked as a magical healer up until she met my father, but her role has casually shifted to nurse to be able to blend into the Muggle Community."
And that was probably really boring to most of them, but she felt like some history was required. But enough about her. Withdrawing her wand, she flicked and a shot a bolt of lightning over their heads across the classroom.
"Awake? Alright. So there are a couple types of electricity in existence. Who can tell me what some of them are?"
