Herbology Lesson One

Greenhouse Four was prepped for the first lesson of term. Instead of the broad long table used in most lessons, there are four round tables with clusters of stools around them. The greenhouse is thriving and a number of earthy, fresh, floral, pungent, sweet and savory scents filled the air.

Professor Bentley is sat on her own stool, absentmindedly stroking the the leaves of a large potted plant. It's mundane in appearance, but has its own mystical and magical properties.

This lesson was one of the top three that Tobias was really looking forward to, along with Astronomy and Ancient Runes. It was a class Tobias had found he had a natural talent in, and so he was extremely enthusiastic to be here.

Entering Greenhouse Four, Tobias have the room a cursory glance, noting the different layout. When he saw Professor Bentley, Tobias grinned and went up to find a seat at a table as close to the the front as possible. Eager badger and all that.

"Hi Proffesor Bentley! Having a nice day so far?" he asked brightly as he set down his bag that held all the things necessary for this lesson, and got out parchment ink and a quill for note taking purposes.

Ooooh, what was that plant? Toby peered at it and tried to identify it in his head.

It was now time for one of the lessons she DIDN'T liked! She didn't wanted to get dirty or to work with plants, sand and other dirty things! So, when she entered the greenhouse, she didn't looked really happy. But, she was here and she would do her best, or she would try to do her best... she needed a good grade for her lessons if she wanted to make her mom happy, so... she faked a smile when she saw the professor sitting on her stool with... a large plant... Strange... why was she stroking the leaves? Hmm... "Hello professor, good to see you again" and again, she lied, but she didn't knew that! Trying to be nice was always good right!?

Asher skipped into the greenhouse and breathed in the earthy air. The only thing better than being outside, was working with things that were from outside. "Hello Professor, beautiful day, isn't it" he happily said as he made his way to a stool.

He sat his bag down and pulled out some parchment and something to write with. Looking around the greenhouse, he noticed some different looking plants and started to make some sketches of them on his parchment.

First Ravenclaw to arrive! Which also meant she had noone to sit with. Then she actually looked at the other people who were there and realized she knew them. That was such a relief. She didn't have the best experiences with Greenhouse 4 and it had worried her that she might have to sit alone.

Nervously she ran over and sat between Tobias and Sonea. "Hello Professor" she said leaning out to acknowledge the professor before turning to the two other students. "Hi everyone"

Best give the appearance that you are confident, even though being stuck in a small tight box with horrible plants really scares you.

Annabeth was quite happy when she entered the Greenhouse Four as she loved Herbology. She loved flowers and their aromas and love to take care of the plants as if they were babies. It was strange to see round tables in the Greenhouse, they didn't seem too efficient as a work station, although they would allow the students to see each others as they were working. Perhaps the teacher would propose them to work together. The girl frowned, and then smiled, it would be nice. She took a seat as near as possible to the teacher and said, grinning,
"Hi, Professor Bentley! It's good to be back to the Greenhouses!"

It was his first Herbology lesson and Adi didn't want to be late. Had to make a good first impression on the Professor, right? Bentley, if he remembered correctly. Stepping into greenhouse four, the first thing he noticed was the mixture of various smells. They made a very weird mixture... Oh! The woman there could only be the Professor.

"Hello,good day, Professor,'' the first year said. "I'm Aditya Rehman.'' Had to introduce himself obviously. He grinned and eyed the potted plant. Was it Mandrake?

Anyway, he'd better go get himself a seat. Adi looked around. A few students were there already. "Hey guys!'' And there was Anna! He made his way over to her. "Hey, Anna!''

"Professsoooooor??" Lex called as she made her way into the Greenhouse. Her Head of House was Deputy Headmistress. If she could avoid seeing the Headmistress and getting her face hexed off, she'd try it. "There's this annoying turnstile outside the Greenhouse. Did you notice? It's blocking the way. Not everyone will walk to class with money--I had to spend some that was meant for Hogsmeade candy....." She trailed off watching the Professor petting a plant.

Blink.

It didn't look vicious...didn't make vicious noises..."Whatchu got there?" She asked curiously as she dumped her bag on a random table. Also....she couldn't shake the feeling that she was forgetting something. Something VEEEERY important. Lex kept her gaze on the Professor, trying to remember when it suddenly hit her.

"Oh! And Good day Professor!!" BEAM.

Plenty important that was.

Well at least Kat was able to survive the turnstiles. The Head Girl made her way over to join the class, but it hadn't started yet. Wow such early birds, these lot. Hopefully this class would be fun, you know. Nobody wanted a boring class anyway. "Hi Professor," the Slytherin said with a somehow forced smile. Because turnstiles. Paying for class. It wasn't even acceptable and that wasn't fair either. Paying to go to class? Really? Hogwarts was so full of it already.

Oh, and hello gigantic plant. Yeah... Kat went to take a seat and waited for the others to arrive.

Ugh. Plants. Gross. Caleb put on a happy face anyways as he entered the greenhouses for his first ever Herbology class. Did Aurors NEED this stuff? He made a mental note to check, because if not, he was dumping this class as soon as humanly possible.

"Morning Professor!" he said to the pretty lady as he sat down next to Toby, the boy he'd met in the bookstore. "Hiya Toby!" he added happily as he took his seat.

Herbology.

Ella smiled a little as she entered the green house, taking in the scents and sights. It was set up differently today, eh? Maybe they'd be working in groups or something.

Spotting Professor Bentley, the blonde approached and eyed the plant she was handling curiously. "Hello Professor!" Grin. "It's nice to be back." In Herbology, that is. Even though some of the plants petrified her, the blonde still quite enjoyed the class. She was always learning something new.

Oh look, a Tobias. Ella beamed and headed over to his table, hoping he didn't mind the company. He got a hair ruffle as she passed him because of the common room ruffling and then she took the seat beside him, setting her bag down. He looked smiley today, Tobias did.

Pocketing her pouch of money, Sophie entered the fourth greenhouse, a bit hesitant and cautious of her surroundings as she took it all in. Hmmm... okay, yeah, it WAS pretty cool in here. Worth the six sickles, she decided, and her smile returned to her face for her first Herbology lesson.

"Good day, professor," Sophie chimed, another one of those ploys to get on the good side of every professor who taught a subject that Wandmaker had mentioned. As she glided instinctively toward Ella's table, she added after a thought, "Sophie Brown." Just... in case the woman wanted to be able to place a name to the nice new first year who greeted her so cheerfully, yeah? Hopping onto the stool next to the Hufflepuff Captain, Sophie gave her and the Hufflepuff boy next to her a nod. Sup.

Herbology!

Just the mere scent that filled the air got Schuyler on the hook for class today. She ambled into the greenhouse with her bag at her side, and her pace began to slow as she breathed in the flowery aromas mixing together. "Smells lovely," she smiled. After finding a place at one of the three round tables, she dropped her bag and sat. Her eyes averted to their professor, then lowered to the plant she was tending to. By the looks of it, it seemed rather boring. But you could rarely rely on look, especially in the magical world, yes? Yes.

Great. Paying money to probably get eaten or something. Why wasn't life getting better? HMM? The fifth-year entered the greenhouses clutching her bag so tightly and as usual making sure nothing brushed her robes or her or even got too close to her. Which wasn't easy considering where she was. If she died, it'd be her father's fault for making her take up the subject. Although, she did want to know more about her enemies. There should be a subject called, 'Defense against vicious plants'. Definitely.

And here was Professor Bentely. The woman was too nice to be teaching such subject. And she was petting a plant! Cassia almost shouted for the woman to get away and run for her life. But then again, the woman must spend all of her time. Her luck was holding, did she know she was pushing it? Cassia hoped for the sake of Bentley's lil kid, that the woman would remain safe and uneaten.

Could they start soon please, before the monsters awoke?

There was a turnstile, Professor. Did she know that? 'Cause Ascanius had to shell out six sickles for this class and he wanted it to be worth it, yeah?

Although....she was looking mighty fit today. Yeah, she was forgiven.

Shooting her a smirk, he said, "Hello Professor. You look lovely today." Mhmmm. Yeah, she did.

Oh, right. He had to go and do that sitting thing.

Now that he had paid and everything. Nigel walked into Herbology class ready to scrutinize and wonder if the class was worth how many sickles he had paid. Well it did smell good in here. Not just dirt like Nigel remembered.

Was Bentley stroking the plant like a cat. That was pretty cool/weird. "Hello, Professor Bentley" So Nigel was suppose it sit at one of these round tables. Alright.

Adelaide passed the turnstiles, still confused as to what was going on. She entered the classroom and tried to locate the professor. Oh. There she was...stroking a plant. Adelaide still managed to smile, even at the oddity of the situation. "Morning Professor."

Now to find a seat. Adelaide spotted one near her fellow fifth year snake and quickly snagged it. "Hey Cassia." She smiled and sat next to her friend. She leaned a little closer. "What's with the plant stroking?"

Anya tucked her money bag back into her school bag as she entered the classroom. "Hello Professor." she greeted as she passed.

And with that she sat down at one of tables. Were they getting pet plants? Because she already had some azaleas she was keeping in the windowsill.

Still in disbelief over having to pay to get in, Sophie made her way into the greenhouse, ready for the first Herbology lesson of the year. Well, actually, it was her first Herbology lesson ever, save for what she'd learned during homeschooling.

Looking around, she spotted the professor stroking a plant like it was some crup. Was this woman like one of those crazy old cat ladies, the ones who lived alone in a house with nothing but a thousand cats to keep them company? Except, of course, cats would be exchanged for plants in this case. The woman didn't look old, though. Or crazy for that matter. Maybe she was just really dedicated to her job.

"Hello, Professor," Sophie said, and then she made her way to one of the tables and sat down.

Adrienne tried not to shudder as she entered the Greenhouse. She wanted to like Herbology, she really did- it was quite an interesting subject, actually, but honestly she simply couldn't stand all of those plants. They were creepy and weird and just all-around scary, and Adrienne didn't like them one bit, especially after what happened to Tora during their Astronomy homework. So she nodded at Bentley with a civil, "Hello, Professor," and then plopped down on a stool next to Tora. Why, why, why did they have to be in this greenhouse?

And she was still grumpy about those turnstiles, by the way. She hadn't brought any money with her, having forgotten, so she'd had to walk all the way back up seven flights of stairs just to get into class- thank Merlin she'd been early before, because otherwise she'd probably have points off for being late now. Stupid darn turnstiles. So annoying.

Forrest forgot about the turnstiles pretty quickly and paused to take in the class. So they were going to work in groups of four. He should pick his group well, then. He then saw Tobias and Ella. He was going to sit with them, of course. Quidditch buddies unite! He smiled to himself and walked to his buddies.

"Hello!" he greeted them with a bright smile and sat at the other side of Tobias. Yeeeeah, he forgot to greet the Professor.

Oh well.

Minerva walked in after paying still a bit put off by the whole paying thing. She just couldn't believe they were still doing this. Already in a not so great mood being on edge knowing she was going into the greenhouse with the plants, Minerva took a deep breath. It was time to settle down and deal with class.

Giving Professor Bentley a small smile she stopped turning to the professor, Hello Professor. How are you doing? I never got to finish talking to you at the feast." Small smile about sitting next to her. Hehe.. but I hope your baby is doing well and it's good to have you back." She was good to have back all these plants.. Well Minerva would do her best. Turning she found a place to sit and got her parchment ready at her work station.

After making his payment, Wade shuffled along into Greenhouse Four for his first class. Classes required a happy face, which he kept on as he saw Professor Bentley tending towards a plant already.

"Hello, Professor Bentley." He greeted with a smile before making his way towards a table to let his bag drop down by before getting situated.

Sniiiiiif. MHHHHHHHHHHHHHM. Smelled so goood, bapa so good bapa, so goood, bapa it smeeeellleeeed sooo good.

BEAAAM. The first year made her way inside the greenhouse and could only smile at everything she saw. This definitely seemed like it was going to be her thing. After all fairies needed to look after nature right? Now what better place than this.

Walking past an adult, Abbi assumed her to be the Professor and gave her an extra, extra wide smile. "Hello Professor! Smells so cool! You should make a perfume smelling like this! A fairy one, even! " Nuuuudge, nuudge, wink, wink, giggle, giggle.

Maybe she needed to find a working station though? The strawberry blonde hair flipped and Abbi's eyes were at the rest of the class. Nooow where to sit, where to sit?

As Kace made his way to the lesson, he entered the lesson and smelled like....wonderful smells. He sniffed the air and smiled. It did smell like a perfume he experienced at malls. At least it was better than smelling like mulch or any other stinky plant.

He saw that classroom had round tables and saw other student's were already here. He smiled and then he noticed the professor petting a plant. Kace waved and said, "Hey Professor! I am loving the new smell." he told her honestly.

After he greeted the professor, he took his seat at the round table closer to the front. He got out his notebook and quill from his bag and waited for the lesson to begin.
