Tall trees on either sides of the path and grass covering the area,the Pathways is a beautiful place where you can simply relax by sitting in front of a tree or taking a walk on your own or with friends without having to think about school work. Enjoy the fresh air while you can before your next class inside the castle begins.
Such a nice day, isn't it? And almost surrounded by trees. It was peaceful. Lottie knew this wouldn't be peaceful for too long, though, since Lex was bound to arrive any minute now.
Not that she minded.
Hopefully, her best friend would be in a fantastic mood, because there was only so much Lottie could do to cheer her up. And she's already given enough hugs already. To Lex and Alec, that is. She was glad Ascanius didn't ask for one. Anyway, she was sitting on the ground and leaning her back against a tree waiting for her bestie to arrive.

Alexa was fascinated, completely and utterly taken in by the chocolate frog she'd stuck into her mouth but hadn't bothered to bite into. Half of it was sticking out her mouth, wiggling as it did and were it not for the danger of LOSING it she would have giggled.
Lex was in fact, so focused on the piece of wiggling candy that she never realized when she'd gotten to the pathways.
Eventually the frog gave up the fight and went limp. Boo. She severed the head and took a look arou--ohai Lottie! That didn't take too long. Lex shoved the remaining half of the frog in her mouth then made her way over to the tree her best friend had chosen for them. "Hey!" She flopped down next to her and began rummaging through her bag for something else.
"The moving staircases had me going all over. They're just lucky I'm such a patient person." Really she just wasn't allowed to blast school property so....they were safe to mess with her.

Angeal thought it would be best if he was to explore the Hogwarts Grounds first before he locked himself up indoors, mostly in the library. He tucked a pocket sized notebook inside his robes, walked down a pathway, strolling slowly under the shade of trees. Perfect weather, serenity... Yet, his face remained expressionless.
Hogwarts had been better than the small apartment he had been living in with Eric for the past couple of years. There were more books here and also away from the hustles of the city of London. Here, there were more places he can do anything in peace other than his room. For example, this pathway. But if he was to name one thing he missed, it was having a room to himself. Not that he disliked the dormitories rooms. He had not expect nothing less after Eric's explanation, but still... He would have preferred having a room to himself regardless of how small it would be.
And when he saw a tree with thicker leaves, he sat down under it and leaned his back against the trunk. Angeal took out his notebook and glanced slowly through the pages.

Really, all Lottie did was smile widely as Lex took a seat next to her and watched her for a bit before finally saying something. "How's it been?" Honestly, she was kind of curious. Even if they'd both figured things out before finally stepping into the feast, she had absolutely no idea if something else had happened between now and then.
Lex. Patient person. Well, thanks for that, Lottie was laughing at her comment. Patience was a virtue Lex didn't fully possess. She could wait, just not for long, and she grew impatient rather quickly. "Oh, yes, absolutely, very lucky. Because... what would you have done to them, anyway?" Nothing. We're, of course, joking. Or not.

Olly had decided that wandering around the castle would have to wait a little. Instead she would explore the grounds first. Maybe she'd drag Schuyler along for the castle-exploring later. That way at least they would get lost together and she wouldn't just die all alone in some corner of the old building because she hadn't found her way back. So grounds it was. She would always find her way back to the castle from here.
And she had taken her toad along. For company. Or something.
After walking down the pathways she'd sat down on one of the benches situated there, placing her toad next to her. Which, she should have known, was a very bad idea. Because the moment somebody else wandered into their line of vision he was gone, off towards the guy. Brilliant. No, that was great. It really seemed like he liked everyone else better than her. She really was good at picking out pets, wasn't she?
With a groan she pushed herself off the bench and called out to the boy. "Don't step on the toad!"
Because she would kill him if he did. Just to make that clear.

She'd much rather hear about Lottie than herself.
Oh and a question she didn't mind answering. "I think a simple bombarda would have been enough. They would have learned one lesson or another." But again, she was awash with patience. It was practically dripping off her, couldn't you tell?
After finishing off the cauldron cake she went dipping again. Having bought extra candy on the train, she wasn't worried about finishing her stash before Hogsmeade happened....
....She would need to find someone to go candy shopping with now.

Merlin, the usual loudness and lively tone in her voice was entirely gone when she answered. THAT IDIOT RAVENCLAW. Lottie narrowed her eyes as if the boy was standing right in front of her. He better not show up anywhere, other than classes. Though, she was certain he'll be ignored, because she didn't need to raise her voice. "I see." What more could she possibly say, though? There was a look of concern when her eyes reached Lex's face. Lottie sort of understood what it was like for the boy you liked not to talk to you. But this was Lex. And he was not some guy she liked, this was one of her former best friends. It was a thousand times worse.
The Gryffindor was doing as well as Lottie had. Externally, at least.
OH, HER BROTHER! Lottie beamed at this, actually, she had things to share with Lex! Did you know she convinced Ascanius to call him Ollie?! HAHA! Well, not convinced, the Slytherin agreed almost instantly. "Oh, he's settling in perfectly." Of course he was, Lottie rolled her eyes. "I'm...," she eyed the trees for a moment..., "...doing great, actually. My family sent me all these letters... and they only sent him a congratulatory one. That was very thoughtful of them." She was BEAMING. All her letters contained words about how they were proud of her and whatnot, and also to keep an eye on her brother just in case. It had cheered her up immensely, because they'd wondered if she was okay after the sorting. First time they showed any sign they cared about this as much as she had.
So, Lotus was officially okay with everything.
Bombarda. Explosions. See why Lottie was bound to find Lex on that luggage compartment? That's what would've happened otherwise. "I bet the Headmistress would've loved that, by the way." Sarcasm, Lex understood.

Alexa gave a solemn nod. Yup. Not talking to her at all and making massive mountains out of a dirt pile. That was how she saw the whole thing you know, a dirt pile. A messy one that she didn't feel inclined to play in either.
"Lottie?" She began a bit uncertainly. "Do you...do you think he'll keep it up for the whole term...?" That would take them into next year's summer, a ridiculously long time to be mad at someone you called your best friend for something that wasn't even their fault. Obviously she would have made things different if she could. Her hand caught a pack of jelly slugs and she pulled it out. "I mean, he'll have to forget at some point--but then what if he gets over it but decides I'm not worth having for a friend again??" What if she was replaced?? That drifted somewhat into the territory of boggarts; being replaced and forgotten, yup. Even though Lottie wouldn't have the answer she would have loved her lying to her. Lying was allowed this time.
She'd probably face the truth when she'd accidentally run into him--let's face it, she didn't have the best of luck when it came to running into people.
Oh? A beaming Lottie at the mention of her brother? Things WERE fixed and she found herself smiling as she listened. "Neat! And to think you wanted to miss out on food out of worry." Lex said, grinning and giving her a playful nudge. In the end there was nothing to be so anxious about. That was good. At least she knew her friend was happy! "When classes start you can start looking impressive to him too." It was all about showing off and was in line with their priorities; magic.
Heh, the Headmistress. "I'd have been long gone by the time she showed up." Sticking around to ask the staircase how it was doing? No thanks. As for the candy, Lex raised a curious eyebrow at her. "No more than I'd usually be eating...why?"

It still felt really nice outside, and Penelope was gonna take advantage of that while it lasted. Once it got cold, it got COLD, and it wasn't as enjoyable to be outside then except for Quidditch and snow fights with her boyfriend that she TOTALLY WON even if she'd agreed to call it a tie. But still, anyway, the warmer weather was much nicer, so the Gryffindor had decided to go for a walk. She'd even pulled her long hair back into a ponytail since it was warm enough for it.
Walking alone was a little boring though, she realized. She should've invited someone to come along. Or maybe someone would join her. Either way, company would probably make this walk much better.

Concern. It was definitely there, particularly after she'd said her name. Was that... uncertainty, Alexa Cambridge? For a small amount of time Lottie actually forgot her dislike for Aidan. The way Lex had asked the question made her smile, albeit rather small. VERY small, but that was a smile. Friendship was super important to the Gryffindor next to her. And Lottie valued the right kind of friendship. Little details. "Lex...," she started the same way as her friend, only there was no uncertainty whatsoever, "...I don't think so." Aidan Stone was stubborn, but he wasn't mean, and he... he forgives people. He'd forgiven Lottie on countless occasions and she wasn't even a friend. "He'll come to his senses. His senses just need a bit more time." She nodded after this.
It was no lie, she couldn't lie to Lex. Withhold information, yes. But no lies.
Wow. It was jelly slugs now? Where was Alice, by the way? She kind of misses her. Mags mostly.
And then Lex had to say that. The reminder of 'rubbish friends' made her dislike Aidan again and her smile was completely gone. That had been hurtful. Particularly for Lex, yeah? She sighed, LOUDLY. That was probably not a good sign. "I... want to think he'll realize what an idiot he is...," that day was coming, definitely, "...and things will go back to the way they were. Eventually." Perhaps by the end of the year they'd had worked out all of this. It was a bit of a stretch to say things will go back to what they were before, especially for Lottie, but... eventually. Who knows, right?
She wasn't really enjoying this conversation now. This was TWICE she's been rejected as a friend. She has plenty of awesome friends, so it was alright.
Now, back to her also awesome brother. "Yeah, well, I was still feeling a bit nervous at the feast... but I had Alec, Tag and Tobias to keep me distracted during the sorting...," yup, and that was the moment she'd been nervous about. But this whole thing with her family made her feel TONS better about everything. Lex even got another laugh out of her at the mention of classes. She couldn't wait for Astronomy. She could wait all her life for History of Magic, though, she wouldn't mind for that. "Of course." Why wait for classes, anyway? Wink.
ACTUALLY, there was something she'd been meaning to say about showing up..., "You showed up at the Staff table almost immediately after the speech, though. One would think you'd be more interested about food than anything else." Because they finally have more-than-decent food! Thank Merlin! And the house-elves. "Oh, just checking." This was UNusual, Lex.

Charlie was not ready to lose the warm weather. Even though her time was mainly divided between Poland and England, she much preferred the week in somewhere HOT, or the few months of sun she was treated to each year. She made her way out of the castle and was glad, first of, of the lack of need for a jacket. Mmm. Walking was going to be nice in these grounds. If it stayed like this, that was.
Following the path, Charlie's mind wandered. There was so much to take in, and she still was so lonely and confused after her first couple of days here. The whole school environment was so different to anything she'd ever experienced before, and - bump.
"Oh, oh, sorry," she gasped, rubbing at her arm a little where she'd knocked the person in front of her. Maybe the first lesson she'd learn would be to watch where she was going? Apologetic smile?

She wanted to ask how much more time it would take, being fully aware that they'd only just gotten back and apparently he wasn't as good at pretending as she'd hoped but then Lottie couldn't speak for him and wouldn't know. This was all getting really annoying really fast. Lex didn't have the patience for this but knew there would be no quick fixes this time. That was probably the most annoying part of this whole thing.
Time. She would give it time. This meant no going around looking for him. She had this feeling that if she did he'd only ignore her, or worse, he'd do that annoying weird thing again and she'd be forced to hex his face off. It'd be such a waste of a nice face too. Lex emptied the pack of slugs in her mouth and went back to rummaging.
Her eyes flickered over to her best friend. "You think so?" Did she really because the outcome was looking pretty bleak from where she stood. He said he'd never be able to forget and it was the knowing that got him acting the way he was...but...she would allow herself to believe her because that'd make her feel far better.
And where were her manners? Lex tipped the bag toward Lottie. "D'you want anything?"
It seemed Lottie had gotten some distraction at the feast as well--Tag? That reminded her. "Tag's my new pet Leprechaun, he volunteered and everything." There was a happy change to the conversation from earlier. "He even says he'll give me candy and help me find rainbows, neat huh?" Of course it was. Not everyone got a pet Leprechaun.
Oh? The staff table mention. That. "Yeah....I had to let the Headmistress know how much I appreciated her speech, the part with the renewed focus on academics. It's perfectly in line with our priorities, didn't you notice?"She had. Also, it was nice of Lottie to ask about her candy eating but she was FINE.

This was all getting really annoying really fast. Lex didn't have the patience for this but knew there would be no quick fixes this time. That was probably the most annoying part of this whole thing.
Time. She would give it time. This meant no going around looking for him. She had this feeling that if she did he'd only ignore her, or worse, he'd do that annoying weird thing again and she'd be forced to hex his face off. It'd be such a waste of a nice face too. Lex emptied the pack of slugs in her mouth and went back to rummaging.
Her eyes flickered over to her best friend. "You think so?" Did she really because the outcome was looking pretty bleak from where she stood. He said he'd never be able to forget and it was the knowing that got him acting the way he was...but...she would allow herself to believe her because that'd make her feel far better.
And where were her manners? Lex tipped the bag toward Lottie. "D'you want anything?"
It seemed Lottie had gotten some distraction at the feast as well--Tag? That reminded her. "Tag's my new pet Leprechaun, he volunteered and everything." There was a happy change to the conversation from earlier. "He even says he'll give me candy and help me find rainbows, neat huh?" Of course it was. Not everyone got a pet Leprechaun.
Oh? The staff table mention. That. "Yeah....I had to let the Headmistress know how much I appreciated her speech, the part with the renewed focus on academics. It's perfectly in line with our priorities, didn't you notice?"She had. Also, it was nice of Lottie to ask about her candy eating but she was FINE.
If only Lex had followed Lottie's advice. IF ONLY. They wouldn't be having this conversation at all. And her best friend wouldn't be feeling awful. Because no matter how much candy she ate, and how many smiles she could give, Lottie knew she was hurt. She didn't have to say it.

Sure, Alec had already given Lottie a bag full of candy, but she'll put Lex on candy rations if she kept this up.

Uh-oh. The second her eyes were on her friend's face Lottie knew things wouldn't be easy, yeah? She'd been literally GRINNING before and now... well, she knew what that eyebrow meant. Subtlety, then? It probably wouldn't work, even if Lex was oblivious most of the times, she wasn't when she was paying attention to things. "Well, yes," she spoke super confidently by the way, no pauses or anything, "I should get to work on my people skills. It could be helpful."Nod, nod. So, people would be a priority.
Olly had decided that wandering around the castle would have to wait a little. Instead she would explore the grounds first. Maybe she'd drag Schuyler along for the castle-exploring later. That way at least they would get lost together and she wouldn't just die all alone in some corner of the old building because she hadn't found her way back. So grounds it was. She would always find her way back to the castle from here.
And she had taken her toad along. For company. Or something.

Because the moment somebody else wandered into their line of vision he was gone, off towards the guy. Brilliant. No, that was great. It really seemed like he liked everyone else better than her. She really was good at picking out pets, wasn't she?
With a groan she pushed herself off the bench and called out to the boy. "Don't step on the toad!"
Because she would kill him if he did. Just to make that clear.
"What?"
Stan nearly jumped. He thought he was only one here.. The boy whirled around to look at the source of the voice and it was.. that girl he'd seen around in the common room. They'd never talked much and he kind of wanted to keep it that way. For some reason. The boy then turned to look down at the toad that was now staring at him.
He bent down and picked it up gently before heading towards the girl. "Here." Stan smiled a little, handing the toad over to the girl.
.. And his smile widened to a grin before he added, "You're welcome." So.. he could just walk away now, right?
Stan nearly jumped. He thought he was only one here.. The boy whirled around to look at the source of the voice and it was.. that girl he'd seen around in the common room. They'd never talked much and he kind of wanted to keep it that way. For some reason. The boy then turned to look down at the toad that was now staring at him.

She was slowly growing quite annoyed with his constant need to run away from her. Maybe that guy in Diagon Alley had been right and he WAS trying to get away from her.

Okay. Stan had pretty much decided that he didn't like this girl. AT ALL. He generally didn't like people who were rude. Seriously, does it hurt to be nice? Especially when he had a face like this? The boy rolled his eye, with no trace of a smile on his face now. "No, you didn't.. but I did it anyway. It's called being HELPFUL." Unless, she didn't know what that meant. Heh, whatever. He wasn't going to waste his time explaining it to her.
Julian?.. Interesting. Honestly, the toad seemed WAY friendlier than this girl. He didn't know what her problem was though. She didn't know him at all.. so she had no reason to hate him. Maybe she just liked to scowl and be rude to everyone she met. Nice girl.
... And he was stuck with being in the same house as her for the next three years. Scary.

For a small Bristol such as herself, just finding her way out of the castle once inside, was a big enough task in itself. She couldn't stop there, though, as she had an endless amount of energy and so much more to discover. It was just a shame that she didn't have a companion to make some of her adventuring memories with. She was still waiting upon Forrest for his tour, so hopefully she'd find him soon.
For now, though, she'd settle for the first person she came across, but .. maybe not a seventh year. Actually, probably still a seventh year. She had no people fears, not really. You heard that. Big scary seventh years DIDN'T scare her. Not one bit, buuut she'd still prefer to come across a younger student like herself.
Which she did, thank Merlin. Now then, how to approach him. Um, well, "hellooooo," she chirped, standing in front of him with a look of curiosity on her face. "Whatcha doing?" Ummm. Reaching into her pocket, Charlie pulled out a couple of Chocolate Frogs and offered one to the girl. "Frog?" You know, to make up for being a total doofus. "I'm Charlie, by the way."'and I'm really sorry' she almost added again, but stopped herself, remembering that people thought it was annoying when you apologised to often.
