The Great Hall is flanked by two large, thick, wooden doors that often make a BANG! sound when flung open by dramatic students and/or staff. There are large glass windows, recently washed and shined, at the end of the Hall above the staff dais, the usual enchanted ceiling over everyone, and the four regular house tables lined up neatly in the middle.

Whether you make an entrance or choose to simply enter the Great Hall, you'll still be wowed by its size and architecture every time. You might also be pleased to notice the upgrade in cleanliness from last year.

Oh good, the Hall was still empty. Ish.

Annie click-clacked in and took a moment to look around the newly cleaned Great Hall before she headed up to her seat. The sun was lighting up the hall in beautiful purples and oranges and the ceiling sky above was just starting to twinkle.

She sighed. It was almost too pretty for a school.

It was marvelous, wasn't it? The Great Hall had always fascinated him, particularly the enchanted ceiling. He remembered getting completely distracted by it when he was a student a thousand years ago. Hopefully he wouldn't end up staring up at it the whole time tonight.

"It hasn't changed much after all these years," the former Slytherin said, walking up beside the redhead.

Pierson Fuller turned his attention to the woman in charge and smiled politely in greeting. "Headmistress." He dipped his head and held his hand out for her to shake. It was good to be here.

"The Great Hall certainly hasn't, even if its occupants have." Annie replied before she even turned to see who was speaking, delighted as she was to see the new Charms professor there. He was quite an improvement over the previous 'professor,' if one could even call Knox that. Much easier on the eyes, too. Heh.

She gave his hand a dainty shake and his handsome face a cordial smile. "Are you settling in all right, Mr. Fuller?"

Yes, the occupants had quite changed. They looked so young. Merlin, he was getting old. Piers gave the Headmistress a much firmer shake than she gave him and nodded in response to her question. "I am, thank you. Surprisingly, I haven't gotten lost yet. My memory of the castle is better than I thought it would be." Maybe it was just luck. He'd probably end up getting lost eventually, as he did as a younger student long ago.

"I have to say, I've been looking forward to this feast for a long time." Hogwarts feasts were the best. Food. Yum.

"Well if ever need a tour, or a self-guiding map, come see me." Annie was still smiling, weirdly, as she made the friendly offer. "I've been here too many terms now to count." Almost as many as staff as a student, too.

Oh, he was looking forward to the feast? Her brows went up some. "Do you read the papers, Mr. Fuller?" Had he heard about their ah...... financial troubles? Because Hogwarts' feasts weren't quite what they used to be.

Er... Did he read the papers? "Not... lately," he admitted. His mind had definitely been elsewhere for the last, oh.. year. And he hadn't started ordering the Daily Prophet to his new place in Brighton yet, so, no. "Why do you ask?" Hogwarts run out of food or something?

"Well not to be a Debbie Downer but..." she leaned in, "last year we had quite a few financial troubles... and all the house elves disappeared... so the food was awful and we were eating off of paper plates..." She touched his arm lightly with a small laugh. "But this year, this year we shouldn't have ANY of those problems."

Piers cocked an eyebrow when the Headmistress leaned in as if she were about to tell him a secret... Financial troubles? Oh. Now that he thought about it, maybe he had heard of something related to that recently. Perhaps his personal life had distracted him from the real world, though. Maybe he would have to find some old issues of the Daily Prophet to find out what she spoke of.

Paper plates, really? Wow. That must have been a serious... arm touch. Err. Financial trouble. But she was touching his arm. Friendly.

"Well, that's certainly good to know," he replied with a nod. "And if there's anything I can do to help..." He wasn't loaded rich, but every little bit helped, right? "Just let me know." He gave the Headmistress a warm smile. This was sort of his home again.

Annie returned his warm smile with a brilliant one of her own, then sashayed on up to the staff table. It was high time she got this 'party' started.

Well, this was all very good to know. At least the houselves were back, though. That meant the feast would indeed be fantastic and Pierson's worries were put to rest. "Please, call me Piers," he insisted.

He then replied with a "Thank you," a nod, and followed after her a moment later to the staff table. Time to eat? He hoped so.
