Crossover: The Hogwarts Games - The Hunger Games - Sa13+
Dusty Cellar (Incomplete Fanfiction)The cellar holds unfinished confections of storytelling, giving readers a glimpse into creative ideas that may one day be revived.
I will be adding it to Harry Potter in the second chapter. And two things. One I will be adding a bio for the other tributes, so then you can picture more of what they look like. Two I'll be adding a poll where you can pick who you think is going to win. It's sort of like the betting in the books, but not as complicated. So here it is.
Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, that belongs to the fabulous J.K. Rowling. Nor do I own the rights to the Hunger Games of Panem, they belong to the equally fabulous Suzanne Collins.
The year is 2150, and it is the 100th annual Hunger Games. My name is Aaron Hamilton the second, and I'm from district four. Last year when I was first able to be entered in the Hunger Games I got lucky and wasn't picked. Now I'm just another thirteen year old boy ready to go to see what the twist on this year's game is going to be. This year isn't like any of the other year's. This year is a quarter quell. They only happen once every twenty five years, and there's always some sort of twist added. Since it's the 100th annual Hunger Games and the third quarter quell they're going to add another twist to make it more "interesting". Now that they're adding two twists everyone from the districts do not want to get picked this time. Not even the ones from the career districts, one and two.
I make my way back to my house from the shore with my catch which will be tonight's dinner, four crabs and a trout. There would've been more of a catch, but I had to leave earlier to watch the twists for this quarter quell. So as I walk home I pass by my one friend's house to see that they're all huddled by the TV in a blanket that my family sold to them. After I look in I immeadiately look back to my house. Once I get close enough I see my Mom sitting outside with sparky, my dog. Sparky is an amaciated little yorkie that we might have to let starve to death for my family to survive. "Hi Mom." I told her while walking up tot the steps. "I got us dinner. Four crabs and a trout."
"Good. Now let's go inside before it starts. We don't want to miss the two twists." She replied to me while standing up. After she stated that she opened the door, and stepped inside. She turned around and patted her hands against her lap saying "Here Sparky. Here boy." Sparky then ran inside, and went into the kitchen to it water bowl which was running low on water. My dad is standing by the back door looking outside to see the beach, and the water. He turned around to say "Aaron please fill up Sparky's water bowl with fresh water."
So I did as told, and I grabbed Sparky's water bowl, took it outside, and filled it up with water at a pump. Since the water that was by the beach was salt water and not fresh water, everyone has to use a pump for drinking water. After I filled it up at the pump I brought it back inside, and set it on the floor for Sparky to drink out of it. "Here's our dinner tonight." I stated to my dad setting the four crabs and the trout on the kitchen counter. Dad examined all of the catch that I brought back. "A crab for each of us, and Sparky, and the three of us will split the trout." He replied back to me. Then he took out a fillet knife and started to fillet the fish. While mom was setting the table I got out the flour for the filleted fish. It was a family recipe that we'd fillet a fish, dip it in flour and other seasonings, fry the fish, then we'd have a nice fried, seasoned, and excellent trout. Sometimes during the summer my dad would grill it instead of frying it.
I watched as my dad used his knife skills to fillet the fish with such ease. He was cutting through the fish as if it was butter. He handed the fillets to me one by one. After I got all three I set all of them on a paper napkin. Then I took out a platter, put flour on it with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parsley flakes into the flour. Next I took one of the fillets, and set it on the platter of flour and other seasonings. I rolled the fillet around in it. Unfortunately I had to wait for my mom to start the pan for her to put it in. Thankfully though it wasn't to long. Once she got her I handed the fillet to her, and she added it to the pan. Then we did the same cycle over again grab, roll, give, put in. And again grab, roll, give, put in. Then we were out of fillets. As mom was frying dad and I got to preparing the crab. We gently ripped off the claws making sure none of the meat got stuck to the crab itself. After we had taken the claw off of all of the crabs, we took them outside and put them in the water. The reason why we did that was because a crab can re-grow it's claws.
Once the trout was done I grabbed another platter for mom to put it on. Once all of the trout was on I set it in the center of the table. While I was doing that mom and dad were boiling the crab claws. As they were boilining I turned on the TV to see that they were starting to begin the ceremony. "Mom, dad they're starting!" I hollered. Once they took the crabs out the aroma of the crab claws and the trout mixed together for an amzing harmony. The scents just agreed with each other so much I could already tell that this was going to be a good dinner. It would need to cool down a bit so we gathered around the TV. "Good evening!" Boomed the President Iko. President Iko got the honor of President after the 77th annual Hunger Games.
"Today I'll be announcing the two twists of this years Quarter Quell. For those of you who don't know what a Quarter Quell is the Hunger Games with a twist. In the 75th annual Hunger Games the tributes were picked from the living tributes that won. In the 50th annual Hunger Games it was double the tributes, so two males and two females were picked from each district for a total of 48 tributes." He stated over the microphone. A boy with a box came up, and presented the box to President Iko. He opened the box. The President reached his hand in to grab a piece of paper. "This years twist is....................."

"This years twist is...........the number of tributes shall be tripled." Everyone in my house gasped. "Tripled!? But that means six tributes from every district for a total of seventy-two tributes!" I exlcamed. I can hear gasps from almost every house in the district. This is going to be hard on having to face seventy-one tributes. Not only from other districts, but five people from his own as well. Not to mention that most of his friends enter their names multiple times for tessrae. Because most of them have little brothers or sisters. Once all the gasping is done from the audience in the TV I turn back to see what the other twist is going to be.
"As you all know since this is the 100th quarter quell two twists are added instead of just one twist." Another boy presents a box to President Iko. He opens the box and gently takes out the paper. With his finger he removes the tape tha holds the paper together. "The second twist of the 100th annual Hunger Games is................that the cornicopia moves because this years arena is........."different". Let's just say that it's a hidden arena in Scotland that we've been saving for this. The arena is called Hogwarts. There students from the ages of eleven through seventeen attend school, but this is no ordinary school. They go there because they are witches and wizards to practice their witchcraft and wizardry. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. See for yourself." He boomed. After he said that he clapped his hands twice and a kid about fifteen years old got rolled out straped to a dolley.
The President went up to the boy and said "Now listen boy if you want to know we're your parents are I suggest you to some of your hocus pocus nonsense." Then he went back to the audience and boomed "He agreed to show us!" He then picked up a closed envelope and waved it in the air. Slowly the boy grabbed his wand. After it was firmly in his hand he ripped it out. Then he took off the piece of cloth rapped around his mouth. "Expelliarmus!" The boy screamed. Shortly after he screamed that the piece of paper flew out of the President's hand. "See. This young boy just showed us a spell. Now restrain him. Oh and here boy take this." He stated while throwing the piece of paper at the boy.
He opened the piece of paper to see that it read in big bold letters.
SPOILER!!: Letter
Quote:
Your parents are dead.
They didn't show what it read on camera though. So we didn't know what it said. All we know is that before being dragged off on the dolley the boy screamed "You monster! How could you do such a thing!?" President Iko laughed at that comment. Then he faced the audience once again, and to finish up the ceremony he said "Thank you and happy Hunger Games! May the odds be ever in your favor!" With that the ceremony was over. Once I turn around I can see by the look in my mom's face that she's still shocked from the first twist. We all walk over to the dinner table to eat. once we get there we all take our seats. Then after a prayer we dine in the crab legs and trout fillet.
After a dinner I brush my teeth, take a shower, and go to bed. I try to go to sleep, but I can't because I'm having nightmares about me being picked as a tribute and having to fight my friends. I get up out of my bed, and go down to the shore. I see that my two friends are there as well. i walk over and say "You two couldn't get to sleep either?" Tom replys by saying "No. Let me guess you had nightmares about fighting us in the Quarter Quell." " How did you know?" I reply. Then Mary says "That's what happened to me." Next Tom says "Same. So I came down here because this might be the last time I visit ths place. Hey guys remember how we'd always come down here, and dig in the sand to find sea shells?" mary and I at the same time say "Yeh. Those were good times." We all laughed. Then we layed down next to each other. Slowly one by one we fall asleep.

Intense! But still sooooo good! I can't wait to see what happens next! At any rate the odds are certainly not in their favour.
One thing that mildly confused me though, and this is largely due to me being sick and my brain not functioning. But you kept mentioning the 100th Quarter Quell.. but it's not, it's the 100th Hunger Games -- as stated in your first chapter. XD But I figured it out! So all good!
Thanks to all of you! Sorry about th 100th thing, and I'm so sorry it took so long to post the next chapter! Here it is, hope you like it!
Chapter 3: The Reaping
Once the sun rose from the sky I could feel the sand underneath my back become hotter by the minute. Then I woke up, and remembered that today was the day of the reaping. "Guys, wake up it's morning." I stated nudging them to get them to wake up. After a few minutes of me nudging them they came to. "It's morining already?" Tom questioned. "Yes. Also it's the day of the reaping." I said to answer his question. "Well since it's the day of the reaping we better get home to get into our Sunday best unfortunately." Mary told to the both of us. With that being said all three of us stood up simultaneously. Then we all went our seperate ways to our houses.
I arrive at my house to see that my parents aren't up yet. So I sneak upstairs to my room to take a shower, brush my teeth, and get dressed into my Sunday best. I take a quick peek into my parents bedroom to see that the both of them are still fast asleep. I try to be quiet while taking my shower. After I dry off I immeadiately brush my teeth, and get dressed. My Sunday best is a white shirt, a red and black striped tie, and black pants. I take some of my money out of a jar that I have hidden underneath of a trapdoor, so then nobody can take any of it. After I take some of it out I quickly dash downstairs. [I]If my parents are asleep then that must mean that it's not even past seven yet.[I] I know that because my parents wake up at seven AM sharp every day. So I make a run to the door, then I'm gone.
Then I take notice to that the sun is still only starting to rise. Next I look around to see if their are any peacekeepers here yet. None are here yet, good. That means that I can run to the market before the reaping starts. Though I sprint as fast as I can to the market just in case they arrive soon. Then I see the abandoned warehouse where the market is located. That's were a lot of people in the district come to trade, or during the games place there bets. I sneak around to the back entrance, but before I turn a corner I peer around it first just to make sure that there's no peacekeeper their. Once I made it safely to the door I open it and walk inside.
The market place is really big. Any stand you could think of would be in their. There's jewelery stands, food stands (vegetables, meat, fruit, etc), book stands, collection stands (cards, shells, stamps, coins, etc), supplies stands, and even weapon stands. After I walk in I immeadiately head over to the food stand because I am hungry. I walk up to one that I normally go to and ask "Can I get the normal?" He looks at me while saying "The grilled crab and bananas? Sure thing." After he said that he looked back to the chef. "I need a grilled crab and grilled bananas." I take a seat a seat in front of the counter. I watch as the chef grills two crab legs and two bananas with such ease. He looks like he's been doing that since he was three, and trust me grilling bananas evenly isn't an easy thing to do.
A plate comes out and I gets set in front of me. "Thanks." I said to him. Then I placed to gold coins on the counter as payment. Then I dine in to the crab legs first. Those I like hot. The bananas I usely have as a snack before I walk over to the reaping. After I finish the crab legs a take the bananas and leave the counter saying "Thanks again." After that was done I notice I still have some time I can spend in the market. So I decide that I would browse some wares. While walking past some miscillaneous items I notice a locket. I pick it up and open it. On the inside it reads.
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
(Disclaimer: I do not own the song Safe and Sound sung by the wonderful Taylor Swift)
"How much for this locket." I ask the shopkeeper. "Two gold coins, but for you one gold coin." The shopkeeper replied back to me. The shopkeeper is an elderly man who looks to be about sixty years old. He has a bent over back, and has to use a crane to walk. I give the man the gold coin, and then leave. I notice that my parents should be waking up any minute now, so I run back to my house. I made it just in time, because they start to walk down the stairs directly after I sit down. As they come down the stairs I say "Good morning. Even though it's not such a great morning because of the reaping. Here have these." I put the bananas out in front of them, and walked over to the back door which was still open a crack from me running in. So I felt the morning breeze hit my face. Then I realized it was just the peacekeepers arriving for the reaping.
"Well it looks like I should head out to the reaping." I said to the both of them eating there bananas. Then I opened the door, and made my way over to the reaping. On my way there I saw a peacekeeper handing Tyke Nemeh, the person who represents our district, a note while saying "Make sure these people get picked." I couldn't see the names on the note, and thank god they didn't know that I heard them. I would be dead in an instant if they knew I was listening.
Once I arrived at the Hall of Justice I sign in by getting my finger pricked for a drop of blood. After I get it pricked I walk over to where the boys stand. I watch as familiar faces arrive. Then in the back I see my mom and dad just arriving. Once I see that the peacekeepers that do the sign in get up and leae I turn around to face the Hall of Justice. Then two living victors out of ten walk out from the Hall, followed by Tyke. The victors sit down, and Tyke goes up to the microphone. He taps on the mic and says "Hello! Welcome, welcome. Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor! Now I'm going to play a short film brought to you all the way from the capitol." After that the film comes on a big screen. The film is just a film on how the Hunger Games started, and how the capitol uses it as "forgiveness".
After the film is over Tyke faces the mic again while saying. "I love that! Now it's time to pick this years tributes. As always, ladies first." After he spoke he walked over to a glass bowl with a bunch of papers that are taped together. He waves his hand in the bowl slowly. Then he picks out a piece of paper, then another one, and the last one. He opens the one he picked out first and says "Erin Miser!" I look over at the girls to see who's coming out from the crowd. When I see the person they have an unfamiliar face. She's about sixteen years old, and she limps while walking. She slowly climbs the steps up to the platform. He opens the next piece of paper while saying "Our next female tribute is.............Cecelia Evans!" That name and face I don't recognize either. She looks about fourteen. Then he opens the final paper and says "Our final female tribute is.......................Mary-Ann Dzech!" (De-zek). My eyes widen when that name is called because she is one of my friends. So that's when I start to get nervous........really nervous.
"Now, it's time for the boys." He said walking over to the bowl as Mary walks up the steps. Then he picks out three more pieces of taped paper. He opens the first one and says "Evan Demayo!" Once again it's an unfamiliar name and face. He seems to be the oldes so far because he looks about eighteen. The Tyke opens the second paper and booms "Our second male tributes shall be.......................Thomas Belzeckie!" (Bell-zeh-key). My eyse widen even more because now both of my friends are tributes, and there's still one more spot! That's when I almost start to hyperventilate. He opens the last piece of paper while stating "Our sixth and final tribte shall be.....................Aaron Hamilton Jr!"
I'm so sorry that it took this long!!!! School has been my number one priority now, so I might not be posting new chapters that fast. And thanks for all the lovely comments!!!! So here is the next chapter!!! Hope you enjoy!!
Chapter 4
My eyes turn into a blank, emotionless, stare once Tyke calls my name. As soon as I hear it be called though I slow my breathing, so then i don't make a fool of myself in front of all of District Four. I slowly re-orginize myself, and walk up to the platform. I climb the stairs trying not to look Tyke in the eye. The reason for that is because I don't want to show him that I'm nervous because then he'll announce it. once I get up to the platform I glance over at my friends. After I look at them in the eyes I stare back down at the ground in front of me. Some of the people in the crowd gasp because three friends are put up against each other. Others sigh in relief that they didn't get picked as tribute. Some parents sigh as well since they don't have to worry about a family member going into the Hunger Games. Other parents shed some tears seeing that their child has to go, and might never return. I look into the crowd to see that my parents aren't there.
My heart fills with despair to know that now I have to go up against my two best friends. I look over at them to see that they're feeling the same emotions as me....frustrated, scared, nervous, sad, and over all total hatred. We all know that Tyke is a nice guy, and we all know that this wasn't a set up. Then I think back to the peacekeepers before I arrived here. How the one passed a note and whispered something to the other. Could it be that the note was the people that had to be picked? It couldn't be though because how would they be able to know which was which. I think to myself. As soon as everyone is up on the stage, we all shake each others hand. After that the six of us are escorted inside the Hall. This might be the last time I'll be seeing this place.
We're all escorted to a different room upstairs for our family members and friends to come up and say goodbye. I know nobody will come for me knowing that my parents weren't there, and my only friends are also tributes. As I walk in, I sit down in the chair and peer outside. I see that it has started raining. No suprise about that though because every year on this very day it rains. That must be mother nature's way of mourning for the tributes who will soon be in an arena to fight each other to the death. I can't help keep tears from rolling down my cheeks. Just the very thought about having to kill my friends sends chills down my spine.
I hear the creaking of the door starting to open I immeadiately wipe my tears. Once I turn around I see the peacekeeper motioning me outside into the hall. So I step out of the chair, and walk down the steps. Now that that part was over I know what will happen next. We'll go on the train ride to the capital. At the front door I see the other five tributes lined up ready to go. They've all might've said their last goodbyes to their family and friends. I line up next to the one who looks the oldest, and we all walk outside into the pouring rain.
The rain felt like tiny teardrops falling down from the sky. Being that it was raining the peacekeepers make us speed up, so we can get to the train faster. We make it in about five minutes. As everyone else enters I can't help, but turn around and look back to see and empty beach were me and my friends once stood. We'd always have fun in that spot, until this very day. Were maybe none of us would ever be seeing it again. I try to get that thought out of my mind. Before I enter I kiss my first three fingers, and point them up towards the air while whispering "I'll miss you district four." Then I step on, not looking back again.
Thanks guys! The next chapter is finished, an now ready for your eyes to view. I hope you guys enjoy! I'm not sure if you guys want to consider this chapter a part type of thing because it ends with him falling asleep, and not actually getting off the train.
Chapter 5: The Train
Upon entering the luxurious train from the freezing rain, it was neater than I expected it to be. I mean I knew it would be fancy, but not that fancy. Glass chandeliers, mahogany tables, nice, clean, silver knives, excellent porcelain plates and bowls. That list could go on and on and on. For all I know is you could’ve written a whole entire essay of how nice it was. Way better than the houses at District four for sure. Tyke brushes by me, and snaps me out of my gaze with his arms opening wide while saying “This will be your home for the next two days!” His voice filled with enthusiasm. then he walks over to the mahogany table, and strokes it in a very weird way...as if it was his friend. The next thing that could possibly happen is me seeing him kiss the table goodnight. Being that it was almost eight o'clock.
While all of my other fellow tributes gathered around the table I simply walked into one of the eight rooms we had to choose from. The room was a bit small, but larger than mine back in the district. Most likely people wouldn’t be finding me wondering around the train unless if it was to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Other than that I would be in my room reading, watching TV, sleeping, or listening to the radio. Unfortunately though after the first ten minutes of me just lying down on my bed Tyke forced me out of my room for a talk with the previous victor.
Our mentor’s name is Cadence Rosenbauer. She won the 90th annual Hunger Games when she was 14! So now she’s only 24 years old. If you think about it she may be one of the youngest tributes to ever win the Hunger Games. I didn’t want to go out, but since they forced me to I did. Anyways I wanted to meet our mentor. Let’s see how good of a strategy maker she is. Apparently there’s a rumor going around that the mentor’s were told and shown what this year’s arena was going to look like. That way they can tell us good hiding places, places we should try to “capture”, etc.
Once I enter the dining cart I’m immediately am greeted by our mentor who points to the seat I’m to sit at. As I walk over there, I didn’t quite notice the huge holographic image of what looks to be a medieval castle. So this must be the arena. The outside just looks like your typical everyday castel. Huge, well built, and heavily fortified. On the inside of it though it’s a whole different story. Filled with all sorts of intricate rooms, and hallways that twist and turn like a winding maze that you're destined to get lost in.
“As you can see this is going to be one of the most largest arenas ever used in the Hunger Games. Don’t be surprised you’ll get lost. Though at certain point they’ll have more holograms of the place, but the only difference is it will mark where you are. You’ll enter here.” She says enlarging what seems to be a dining hall. Though I couldn’t really tell because it was rather large, almost meant to fit thousands of people.
“There will be four tables located in the center of the room. That’s where the cornucopia is going to be located. Only one difference though. There is no cornucopia this year. It’s going to be laid out on the rim of the tables and on the floor surrounding them. If you want to run for something, but one thing only. My plan is for you guys to all stick together as a group. So if you all grab one thing, and meet up here-” She says enlarging a different part of the castle (Hufflepuff Common Room) “You guys should at least last for a week if it goes past a week. From then on you guys should never split up, remain in you position, and fortify if you can. Don’t fight unless attacked. Oh and one thing-” she states while lowering her voice. “There’s going to be 72 more tributes on top of the original 72 tributes. Apparently Iko now has a hold of Australia and the United Kingdom. So now he’s making them send in tributes. You guys didn’t hear that from me.”
Great...just what we all needed! More tributes! It’s bad enough I’m going to have bad dreams just in general from being in the Hunger Games, but now more tributes?! The clock rings ten times signaling that it’s now ten o’clock. So we all pack it up, head to our rooms, and fall right asleep.
I can't believe I'm just reading this now! I looove it! Update it soon please
