When you arrive at the Tanner family estate it is not exactly as you would imagine an estate to look. There is a large wood and within the mass of trees a small two story log cabin is nestled near a small lake. This is the house that Hoitt Tanner has built for his family. There is no driveway or elegant entrance way to be seen despite their financial situation. There is a small front door off the porch with a window on either side. When you enter the house a strong smell of various incense greets your nose. You are standing in the kitchen/dining/living area (that is L shaped) which has a small four seater table in the front left corner, two old, sinking, sofa's in the front right corner, and a functional kitchen in the left back corner. The kitchen is fully equipped with a wood burning oven and stove, refridgerator, and cauldron with a hanging stand. The room adjacent (in the back right corner) is Hoitt and Lucille's bedroom. Directly to the right of the front door there is a ladder which leads to the loft which serves as Carigan and Reagan's bedroom.
First Scene: Carigan has returned from her first year at Hogwarts and her twin sister has returned from her first year at a private wizarding school in Romania. After not having spoken or written to each other the whole year Reagan, Carigans sister, is extremely torn between her need to be near Carigan and her need to be alone. Carigan, who doesn't notice her sisters strange behavior, has gotten permission from her parents to invite her friends over for a few days.

Carigan was laying on her bed looking up at the rafters when she heard the knock at the door. "I'll get it!" She yelled as she jumped over a painting Reagan was working on on the floor and half climbed half jumped down the ladder to the main floor of their small house... which was more of a cabin. She open the door to see Laura and her father standing at the door.
Carigan was wearing a flowing white skirt with small flowers and orange ribbons hand sewn to it by her mother. She also wore a complimenting peasant blouse and no shoes. Her hair was still so long it reached her buttocks and it was incredibly wavy from the humidity and lack of brushing.
"Hi Laura!" She squealed and gave Laura a big bear hug then composed herself to act somewhat composed and mature "And Laura's dad." Carigan turned her head and yelled for her father or mother to come assure Laura's father that she was in good hands.
Hoitt heard one of his daughters call for him. He wasn't sure which one it was but from the excitement he assumed it was Carigan. He walked to the door, which he had heard knocking at earlier. He now stood at the door, wearing nothing but very old blue jeans which were bell bottomed and a hemp necklace. He held out his large hand to shake the hand of the man before him. "I'm Hoitt, Carigan's father." He may not use formalities all the time but he understood that 'normal' families need formalities to be confident in their childrens whereabouts.

Ella and her dad had finally arrived at Carigan's house after many days of begging and pleading for permission to come and visit. Ella's dad had been more than a little apprehensive about the idea, especially since he was only just warming up to his daughter having magical abilities. The blonde looked up at her dad and gave him a reassuring smile, turning her attention back to the log cabin house she'd be staying in. It was magical. She was going to comment on the fact and turned to see that her dad was...he was gone? "Dad?" She said quietly, looking behind her on the path. He was standing there, hands on his hips, deep in thought.
Rich Bishop was seriously nervous about letting his eleven year old stay at the home of people he had never met before. The man had only caved when he saw how desperately his daughter needed to get away from their own home, which seemed quite depressing in the wake of his wife leaving. Now that they were here, he was somewhat regretting his decision. He stopped walking, placing his hands on his hips, wondering if she would hate him if he suddenly changed her mind. Her voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he looked up, giving his daughter a smile. "Hey kiddo, I'm here." He walked towards his little girl again, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You sure you want to do this, kid? I mean Your dear old dad is going to miss you at home and it's okay if you're a little nervous about staying over here." But who really was the nervous one in this situation?
Ella raised her eyebrows as her dad approached again, tapping her foot impatiently. She could see the little crowd standing at Carigan's front door and she wanted to join them! "Dad, I'll be fine. I'm not a little kid anymore." Nope, 11 was like ancient or something! "I'll miss you too but you need to go home and take care of Caleb, if you leave him with Gram for too long she'll have him dressed up like a baby Hamlet or something!" She smirked at her dad, waiting for him to crack a smile that would surely come. "Now come on, we don't want to be late!" Cue Ella pulling her dad towards the porch, and to the door. "Carigan, Laura, Hi!"

Ella felt excitement grow as Carigan ran towards her, throwing her arms around her. Ella returned the hug, smiling. "Carigan! It's good to see you!" The blonde watched as Carigan talked to her dad, thinking an introduction was in order. "Oh yeah, Dad, this is Carigan and Laura and um...their dads and well, this is my dad." Not the best of intros but it seemed to do the trick. Ella's eyes wandered over to Carigan's dad and she felt herself blush. Why didn't he have a shirt on? Maybe this was some kind of woodsey style? Ella wasn't sure but she wondered what her dad's reaction to this fashion choice would be. Be nice, Dad. She pleaded with her eyes.
Rich watched as his daughter was engulfed in a hug by another excited little girl and felt himself smile. It was nice seeing Ella with friends, especially knowing how things had gone at her muggle school. When the her friend spoke to him, Rich held out a hand. "I'd be glad to meet your dad, and to meet you as well. You must be..." He said, eying Ella in hopes she would give him a hint. No such luck though. Come on, Rich, you know this. "Carigan, right?" Yeah, that had to be it. Rich's raised his eyebrows as what he could only describe as a hippy, most likely Carigan's dad, approached him. How did this man know he was worried? Did he look worried? Rich wasn't used to this sort of thing, it would have fallen on Hattie's lap if she was...well if she was still around. "That's good to hear. I'm Rich Bishop, Ella's dad." Hand extended, Rich gave the man a genuine smile. "You've got a lovely home. It was nice of you to allow my Ella to come and visit."
Rich gazed at Carigan when her dad talked about her good grades. "Good for you, kiddo, Ella did well too." Then his attention was back on Carigan's dad, a small smile on his lips. "Two girls, eh? I only have Ella and I have my hands full." And then he found himself chuckling though he knew Ella would be rolling her eyes at this very moment next to him.

He gestured to his daughter then stroked his goatee. "I don't suppose you men would like some tea?" he asked both Rich and Laura's father.

She then was distracted when she heard a lot of people talking just outside so she slowly climbed down the ladder and walked onto the small porch area to see Laura and her father, her father and Carigan, and some strange girl and her father. This was more people than she could have even imagined being in their small dirt pathway. "Hi Laura" she said and went to give her a small hug. The hug wasn't as engulfing as Carigans had been but it was heartfelt. Reagan had come to like Laura during the time they spent at Laura's a few week earlier.

"Nice to meet you, Hoitt." Rich said, nodding. Then his eyebrows raised as he examind the man. He had built this house by himself, impressive...but the finger wiggling. What was that about? He was going to ask until he he realized, magic. It shouldn't have surprised him really. He was meeting more and more wizards and witches now that Ella attended Hogwarts. "Well you did a grea job." Rich smiled politely as Hoitt talked about his family, causing him to think about his own and the mess they were in at the moment. He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling suddenly overwhelmed. Tea? Was that what he had said? "Yeah, tea. That sounds good."
Ella watched as her dad and Mr. Tanner talked. They seemed to be getting on quite well which was a relief to Ella. She smiled at her dad, wanting him to know she appreciated the effort, even though she knew he wasn't exactly comfortable at the moment.
As another girl came out of the house, Ella examined her curiously. Oh yeah! This must be Carigan's sister. They did look freakishly alike which caused Ella to smile. After the girl greeted Laura, Ella stepped forward to introduce herself. "Um Hi, I'm Ella. It's nice to meet you." The blonde said, tucking a piece of stray hair behind her ear.
Laura had been in awe of the other two's fathers, she was a bit scared and had decided to go and hide behind her dad, she had watched a film where three grown-up men became vampires but then Reegan had found her, why had she brought attention to her. "Hi Reegan, I've missed you." Laura seriously had, she had been hoping that Reegan would spend sometime with her, she remind her of her sister Lana, who probably would be at home reading a book.
Mr Hyde smiled as the other two men talked, he was sure that that Laura would be in good hands with Carigan and her family, and he had to leave soon or he would miss his important meeting, he was about to tell the other two grown-ups that he had to go when Laura decided she was going to cling to him, seriously he couldn't work Laura out one minute she was a happy the next she was well clinging to him, he was about to ask her what was wrong when it suddenly hit him, Laura was probably scared of Ella's and Carigans father for some reason, had Laura and her twin sister been watching scary films again, if so they would be in trouble later

Carigan smiled and ran over to where Laura, Ella, and now her sister stood. She just smiled as Reagan was actually socializing. Such a rare thing to see.
Regan smiled at Laura then turned when another girl started talking to her. Reagan was starting to feel uncomfortable with all of these people all around her. "I'm Reagan..." she said quietly before adding "If you'll excuse me I'm going to go finish my painting... again softly and she ran back inside and climbed the ladder as quickly as she could so she could continue her work on the painting.
Hoitt smiled a white toothy grin. "Well, Rich, how's about we go have some tea at the kitchen table and the girl can put their stuff in the loft?" he asked inviting the man in and walking to the door, holding it open for everyone.
Carigan grabbed on to Ella and Laura and dragged them into the house. The smell of a strawberry incense stick filled her nose. "Me and Regan share the entire loft for a room. Not bad if you ask me!" she said showing the girls the ladder they used to climb up.
Meanwhile, Reagan was packing her backpack with a few things. A small blanket, an old hardcover book, and some granola bars.She heard Carigan showing the girls the ladder so she hurried, grabbing onto her backpack and swinging it onto her back and, opening the window, jumped onto a strong limb of the tree just outside the window then shutt he window behind her. She climbed down the tree and went in search of a quiet place to read away from all of these people.

Even the word sounded exciting...loft.
Ella watched as Laura hid behind her dad and frowned. Why was she frightened? Maybe she had seen some kind of animal in the woods? They were surrounded and it was quite dark. Mmmm, maybe someone was baking or something...Then she was suddenly staring at a ladder. Oh! They got to go up there? Cool. "That is nice, Carigan! I've never been in a loft before." Even the word sounded exciting...loft.
Carigan smiled at Ella. "Go on up you silly goose!" she said excitedly and pushed on Ella to hurry up the ladder so she could follow and show Ella her room.
Hoitt showed the two men the small four seater table that sat in the corner. "Preference on tea? I think we literally have every kind possible!" he said and then let out a hearty laugh. He then set to work to boilt he water. He figured the Cauldron that was sitting next to the fridge would be the best way. He went and got some small pieces of wood from a small pile just outside the door ont he porch and put them under the cauldron and lit the fire. He was glad his wife has cleaned it out after the last potion she had made. Once the fire was burning good he poured in a good ammount of water then sat at the table with the other men waiting for the water to boil. "So, Rich, are you from a magical family?" he asked getting some conversation rolling.
With a POP, Sophie, John and Marcy apparated on the Tanner Estate grounds. When her daughter told them that this Carigan girl lived in the woods, Marcy felt the need to go and see this house in the woods, being a herbologist and all. She hoped she wouldn't seem rude if she started lurking around the grounds.
As soon as they were standing there, Marcy's eyes widened and she started looking around as much as she could. It was all so green and beautiful she even forgot for a few seconds why she was there.
John was holding both his daughter's and wife's hands. He was used to taking Sophie to her friends' house and was the one who wanted to make sure his daughter was in good hands. This time he knew his wife would want to come along and was glad. He loved it when Marcy left her plants for a while to go out with them. He smiled when he noticed her excitment.
When Sophie saw her surroundings, she knew exactly what her mother's reaction would be and smiled. She looked up and was not surprised to see the witch's big eyes even bigger. She giggled and started walking towards the log cabin. Such a nice place to live!

Ella smiled, turning to look at Carigan and Laura. "Okay, okay, I'm going!" She said, giggling. She placed both hands securely on the ladder and began to climb, eager to see what the loft looked like. When she got close to the top she turned to look down at her friends, "Well are you coming or what?"
Rich followed Hoitt to the small table and took the seat closest to him, sitting down with a sigh. The corners of his mouth curved upwards at the mention of tea. The warm beverage would be perfect about now. "Green tea, if you have it." Rich then watched as Hoitt lit a fire under a...WAIT. Was that a cauldron? So that whole potions in cauldrons thing was real after all. He smiled at the sight of it, finding the whole situation oddly humorous as well as fascinating. He snapped out of it when Hoitt started talking to him again. "Oh me? No. I actually was quite shocked to learn that Ella had...what's the correct way to say this? Magical abilities?" Was there a politically correct way to talk about those with magic and those without? "As far as I know, Ella's the first in our family though I can't say I ever knew my own father."

Laura looked at Ella and smiled. "Hi Ella." Laura had seriously missed her friends and she hadn't been talking much to her twin Lana because she had been reading books since the start of the summer.
Mr Hyde smiled at the other man. "They seem like there enjoying themselves, I am glad that Laura had made some great friends." Mr Hyde just hoped his other daughter could do the same eventually.
Laura giggled as she was dragged into the house, the only thing was she didn't like the look of the ladder, Carigan used all the time, she liked stairs they were better.

"I'm John, this is my wife, Marcy, and you are right, this is my little Sophie." That wasn't so little anymore, unfortunately. "Yes, please, tea would be lovely." John said without hesitating; perfect way to get to know that family better and decided whether Sophie could stay or not.
Sophie nodded and smiled up at the man who answered the door as he spoke to her parents. Her smile widened as he said where her friends were and she felt like running inside the house to meet them, but since her parents would be going in too, Sophie had to wait to walk with her father - he wouldn't let go of her hand now anyway, she knew it.
Marcy glanced at the man who opened the door and greeted them. Hah, he looked like he was a nature person, which was a good thing. Marcy could almost trust him already. Although some nature-freaks were a little... too much. She stared at him for a few seconds, trying to figure out if that man was a freak or just a green lover like herself.
Then he invited them all in for tea. "It would be lovely, indeed." She answered after her husband, but still wished she could stay outside with the plants. Maybe later.

Ella was at the top of the ladder trying not to laugh as Carigan wiggled back and forth, trying to show Laura how sturdy the thing was. "Oi, come on Laura! Where is your adventurous spirit?!" Seriously, wasn't Laura the one always doing daring things? Surely a little ladder wasn't too scary.
The 11 year old continued to smile down at her two friends, hoping they would join her soon, when she heard more voices. "Wait a second...is that-it must be Sophie!" Ella was excited now, smiling widely. "Soph! We're here!" She called from the top of the ladder.
Rich rose from his seat when the Campbell family entered the house, moving to stand behind his chair instead. He ran his hand through his hair, giving the new comers a smile. He waited for them to come closer to the table and then extended a hand. "Hey, I'm Rich Bishop, Ella's father." Just as he finished saying that, he heard Ella yelling out to the new arrival. "Speaking of my little angel..." He said, rolling his eyes. He was still smiling though, Ella never failed to make him smile.

Hoitt smiled, he supposed he had confused them in some way. "What kind of tea will you be having?" he asked as he put a loose green tea into a diffuser then placed it in a lovely mug that his Reagan had painted herself. He left the door open so that the family could come in. "My wife will be landing shortly, she just went to the nearest all magical village for some ingredients I think." he smiled. "Now are either of you nature enthusiasts?" he asked the Campbell family, "We own the majority of this land, and there is a lake not far."

Carigan smiled, she knew Sophie was there but she also knew how overprotective her father was, so she decided she would just get Laura up this ladder and then say hi to Sophie once she was in the house. The house was slowly filling up with a lot of people. four girls and five parents? More than there has ever been in this place.

She stopped herself from making a disgusted face at the mention of tea and, as soon as her father let go of her hand, she rushed towards her friends. "Hey guuuuuys!!!" She said, jumping up and down, flailing her arms above her head. "What's up there??" She asked curiously.
Marcy smiled when she entered the house, holding her husband's hand. What a lovely little home! "Your house is lovely, Mr Tanner." At least she knew his last name. He was Carigan's father, right? Carigan Tanner... yep, she had probably gotten that right. She nodded at her husband's words about the tea. Whatever, really, as long as she could go outside after drinking it!
Glancing around, she noticed another man that was standing up. She smiled at him as he introduced himself. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Rich. I'm Marcy." She said after John introduced himself, also holding out a hand for him to shake.
Then Mr Tanner spoke again. ABOUT NATURE! "Oh yes, I am amazed by it! I have actually been working with plants and whatnot for a while now." Or "since I left Hogwarts", for that matter. Yes, yes! If there was anyone who was passionate about nature, it was Marcy Campbell. "Actually, Mr Tanner, I was wondering if you and your wife wouldn't mind if I looked around for a bit later, would you?"Please, don't mind, please, don't mind, OH PLEASE, DON'T MIND!

Hoitt dropped more green tea into other cups while still waiting for the bloody cauldron to boil. "Oh yes so sorry! My name is Hoitt, my wifes name is Lucille, she should be home any moment." He said then added "Mind? Not at all! We own a lot of the land here... but our neighbours don't care if we wander onto their property... of course that's a few acres away. If you see another girl like my Carigan out there it's my other daughter Regan. I bet she's run off by now with all of these people." he smiled at the couple, they seemed nice, if not a tad overprotective.
Carigan smiled down at Sophie. "Me and Reagan shared the loft for a bedroom! come on up! Just be careful of the front door... if it opens suddenly you might get stuck!" She giggled then heard something outside, looking out the window in the loft she saw her mother touching down on her broom int he front path.
Lucille looked down at the small clearing where her house was. She wondered if Carigan's little friends had arrived yet, of course she would soon find out. She carefully wound the cord of her shopping bag where her potion ingredients were held and then leaned forward on her broom to touch down. Her hair, the same shade of red as Carigan and Regan's, was in a short pixie cut. She had a medium sized gold hoop in her nose and large indian style gold earrings. She wore a handkerchief style skirt that went to mid shin, on her ankles were gold and red bangles, and she was in her bare feet, her market sandals slung over the broom. A clean white peasant blouse hung off her upper body and she wore a hemp belt with herb satchels attached around it. As soon as she got lower she could see Carigan peering out the window near the ladder, she must be helping onc eof her little friends up the ladder.
She landed gracefully, barely kicking up any dust on the dirt path and she ran to the door, ankle bangles jingling. She untied the shopping bag from her broom handle along with her market sandals. She carefully sat the old broom her grandmother had hand made herself into its stand that stood next tot he wood pile. She opened the door, careful not to hit the person she assumed was behind it.
"Hello all! I'm Lucille, Carigan and Reagan's mother." she gave everyone a big smile before she put her sandals down on the mat right next to the door then went to her small ingredients shelf and started putting all of them away. "Dittany, wormwood, dragons blood..." she muttered under her breath putting the small bottles into place and then tossing the empties under the sink to be washed out. She then noticed the fading smell of strawberries. She removed the finished incense stick and put in a fresh one, this one called "opium" which smelled of poppies.

Rich smiled, watching as John let go of his daughter's hand and held it out in his direction. He extended his own arm, shaking John's hand before glancing down at the young girl who was now talking to him. Mister Rich, huh? That was cute. "Hello Sophie." He said with a smile before looking back up at Mr. Campbell. "And it's nice to meet you, John." Then he took hold of the other hand that was extended to him, this one belonging to Mrs. Campbell. "Hello Marcy, pleasure to meet you." And she got a smile too. After the greeting were made, Rich leaned forward against the chair as he listened to Marcy and Hoitt talk. He could hear the girls talking in the distance and smiled, happy to know Ella was finally back with her friends and having fun.
When Lucille arrived, Rich tried to prevent himself from laughing out loud. The woman was so perfectly suited for Hoitt that they must surely have been fated to marry. She, like her husband, had that same earthy appearance and relaxed attitude. The man watched, interested, as she began putting away various items that he had never seen before. Was this kind of stuff magic related? If so, Rich wouldn't know much about it.
When Sophie's face appeared at the bottom of the ladder, Ella shrieked with delight. "Sophhhh! Hi!" She called, waving enthusiastically from her place at the top of the ladder. The eleven year old giggled when she heard Carigan warn Sophie not to get squished by the front door. That would be funny...a Sophie sandwich! Haha.
Hoitt smiled at his wife as she came through the door. Lovely lovely. Many new potion ingredients too! It looked like she got some for a cough suppressing potion, good thing too! They were nearly out! "Darling, Sophie's mother here loves nature and the like too. Perhaps a tour of the grounds is in order?" He said to Lucille as she bussled about the room putting things away.
Lucille was just finishing up putting everything away when her husband said something about the other woman loving nature. "A tour? Great idea! Care to join me out on the grounds?" She asked of the woman who stood near the table.
Carigan giggled at Ella's reaction to Sophie, she was so excited to have her friends at her house.

John smiled as the shirtless man said his name. A few moments later a woman walked in with soma bags. She dressed up pretty much like Sophie's old drawing teacher. Hah. "Nice meeting you, Lucille, I'm John and this is my wife Marcy. That little brunette over there is my Sophie." He indicated his daugther with his head.
Oh, Marcy would be happy about this tour.
Marcy smiled at Rich when he introduced himself, shaking her hand. He seemed really polite and she liekd that. She quickly turned her attention to the newcomer and her eyes sparkled as Mr Tanner asked his wife about some tour. She gave a big smile when the woman agreed with it.
