CHAPTER 1:
Brave New World
__________________________

Albus, James and Scorpius boarded the train. They were joined by Rose, Hugo and Shawn. Lorcan, Lysander had to get on the next compartment. For awhile, everything was silent. The sky seemed to reflect the mood- dark grey. Over the summer, several things had happened. The Ministry had been nearly attacked, and threats to attack were spreading from the new Death Eaters like wildfire. The Ministry had barely fended off the attack, and were lucky they did. Atrox was missing, and the few captured Death Eaters stated that they hadn't seen him since Hogwarts. The Death Eaters were making their own move.

James sat, looking out the window, at the landscape. White plumes of smoke surrounded the train; the Order of the Phoenix* were protecting the train. They all would take turns over the year guarding Hogwarts and Hogsmeade and such. Albus was talking with Rose, and Scorpius was asleep, breathing heavily, his head resting on the window. He had been living with the Potters ever since the end of term; he fit in well, and they would have fun, the Family, but it wasn't the same. Wasn't the same without Teddy. They had held a funeral for both Draco and Teddy, the former's without a body. They were buried at Hogwarts.

"James... why... why didn't your Killing curse work on him, then?" Albus asked.
"I don't know. It's hard to tell...."
"What I want to know is WHY he was casting a killing curse?" Hugo said. James looked at him.
"Fool, if I hadn't, Scorpius, or any of us, wouldn't be here!" James yelled. Hugo nodded, then got into conversation with Albus and Rose, while James just looked out the window. They weren't far from Hogwarts. James sighed, resting his head on the window, closing his eyes. The world was becoming darker, with the army of evil right on the outside. He tried to sleep, and achieved it. A deep, dreamless sleep.

CHAPTER 2:
great gig in the sky

Albus sat in the common room, reading and studying for his classes. This is what he did last year the first day, studying for all his classes per his schedule. But his mind kept on going back to Draco and Teddy, two great people, gone. James was a wreck, but Albus had somewhat kept his feelings supressed, but it always found its way out.

The grounds were silent, and virtually no one was on the grounds, and if they were they were in the courtyard. Albus made his way to the graves, stopping at Teddy's. He kneeled, staring at the grave. Then he broke down, crying and crying and crying, nearly howling. He and Teddy were very close, but not like James and Teddy were. Albus' earliest memory of Teddy was when he was changing his hair different lengths and colors, and sometimes styles. Albus continued his weeping, and when he stopped, or had no tears left in him, he conjured flowers- in every color Teddy had changed his hair in that memory.

Albus remembered that day, the final day before they departed. He had felt much better after that, but always had missed Teddy. And then Draco- it was him, Rose, and James that had to comfort Scorpius, but even that wasn't enough. He noticed how James seemed to be the one who tried hardest, though, the one who seemed more close to Scorpius. Was it the fact that they grieved much earlier? He did not know, and didn't care. They were all best friends, even if James stole Lysander's girlfriend- resulting in a lot of yelling and arguing, and then friendship patch up, no thanks to Lorcan and Albus. But then, James broke up with her a week later.

Albus couldn't help but laugh. His brother and the Longbottoms were George and Fred Weasley, but with a third twin. Whichever one of them that was. Albus continued reading, remembering funny memories with family and friends.
They all seemed to include Teddy.

CHAPTER 3
schism
_______________________________

The Room of Requirement, a hangout so often occupied by the group. But now, it was an argument.
James and Scorpius were arguing intently, about Death Eaters. The stress of impending attacks was weighing on everyone, and now the stress was showing. Suddenly, James and Scorpius began dueling. Albus, Lorcan and Lysander tried to hold back James, while Rose, Shawn and Hugo held back Scorpius; then James thought of a spell.

Albus and James had been looking in their Fathers desk, and found a box filled with stuff; papers, and a picture of a group of people; a shard of glass; and a book, looked like a potions one. They looked through it, and saw one spell.

Sectumsempra- for enemies.
They had never tried it, but James did now, not knowing if it was a dark spell or not.

"Sectumsempra!" he shouted, his arm breaking free of Albus' hold, and his wand spitting out a red slash-like strip of light. There were yells, and Scorpius fell back. He looked as if someone had slashes a sword across his chest. James dropped his wand, suprised, not expecting the result. Albus ran to him.
"James! father told us never to u-use that spell from the book!" He yelled. James looked very pale.
"I-i..... didn't know....." He said. Rose ran to a shelf, filled with labeled phials. She took out one, a dripped three drops on Scorpius' wounds. Green smoke suddenly rose from his shirt, and his breathing ceased being erratic; it turned normal, and he seemed to fall into unconsciousness.

CHAPTER 4:
great divide
___________________________

James sat next to Scorpius' bed.
"I'm sorry, Scorp.... I was angry.... it was all pent up..." He said, his head down.
"Its okay, James..." Scorpius rasped. "what I said was out... out of turn. My father.... my father died and I've been on the edge lately." He said, coughing. The spell had went deeper then thought, and hit some of Scorpius' internal organs. Luckily, they were healed just in time before anything bad could happen. James smiled, and put a box of Bertie Botts every flavor beans on Scorpius' bedside table, and walked outside.

It didn't take long for Albus and Hugo to catch up.
"James!" Hugo yelled. "We did research.... the spell that Draco did..... it wasn't as, well, catastrophic as it should have been...." Hugo said, and nodded to Albus, catching his breath.
"Yea, well it should have turned everything within a mile radius would disintegrate."
"But it didn't," James said.
"Yes, well, duh. It can be contained to a small area, but it takes power, and even more so than Albus Dumbledore could ever wish for..."
"So no one's ever contained it?"
"Nope. The only way the spell could react the way it did was if the spell was incomplete," Hugo finished for Albus. "Which, in turn, means that Draco is probably still alive..... and so is Atrox."
James couldn't believe it..... how were they still living? He shook his head.
"Are you sure?"
"Completely. Surer than ever." They said in tandem.
"Than that means he's behind the attacks...."
"Quite."
"So... he's planning something.
"Entirely."
"Can you guys stop speaking at the same time? It's creepy."
"Sorry."
"Grrrr. So... we have to make a plan." James spoke simply. He would apparate off to the Ministry, but, 1. There was anti apparation jinxes around Hogwarts more powerful than possible, and 2. stupid, foolish heroics would get him no where.
"A plan?" Asked Albus.
"To go to the Ministry. At the end of the year, the ministry empties to go to a large convention with other ministries. They leave for nearly five hours, and the Death Eaters will no doubt be there to steal information to their advantage." James said.
"Where did you learn all of this?"
"I was listening to Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione, duh..." he said, walking off to Gryffindor Tower.

CHAPTER 5:
Friday

"ALRIGHT! Now that we know whats going on- HUGO! NO! I told you, NO getting the candy until AFTER the lesson, back to the group, NOW- OK, today is the big one. after much conversing with my good Uncle George, we have made a successful magical practice thingy. It can take the form of any dark magic object- we have it specifically programmed for Short Ranging Death Eaters, Lethifolds, and Dementors- and you all have your own. Also, wheres Nathan? Yes, Lorcan, your little brother... where? YOU GAVE HIM PUKING PASTILLES, AND LOST THE CURING PART OF IT? THAT'S IT- OH YES, THAT'S IT- I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU WITHIN- DON'T YOU RUN- NO- ARGH!- FLIPENDO! BAT-BOGEY! INCENDIO! OW! STUPEFY! CONFRINGO! AHA, CAN'T ESCAPE ME FOR LONG, EH?" James looked around, to see several wide eyes. Lorcan was on the ground, knocked out from the Confringo. James cleared his throat and muttered a quick 'ennervate'. Lorcan jumped up, walking away from James cautiously.
"Err... okay... um.... I think we can save the dark magic thingy's till later... um... why don't we take a break? Yeah.. that, uh, sounds good...." He said, walking along to a table and sitting on a couch.

The table was littered with paper, maps of the Ministry, plans, and other pieces of parchment. They had enlisted the help of George Weasley, who was always around as he had a Weasley's Wizard Wheezes in Hogsmeade. He had acquired a chart that showed wands of several known Death Eaters, and Albus and Rose were checking out the properties and what types amplified magic better. There was a large book, bound with worn brown leather, and a sun in the middle, and in the middle of the sun rested a rhombus shaped sapphire. It was a book on the psychology of dark wizards, which was only about 10 years old.

They had been using any way to gain more knowledge to use against the dark wizards, and now went at it with even more drive now that they were sure Atrox was still alive. They had returned the news to Scorpius, who was overjoyed. He was due out sometime in the next week. It was only five weeks into the school year; they had plenty of time. James was overlooking a report that had been found by Ron, who had passed it on to George, who had passed it on to them. The only ones who were aware of them studying all of this were themselves, George, the Headmistress and Neville, and Ron, who, if he found or heard an information in the Ministry that they could use, pass it on to them.

The report was on the current Death Eaters activity, and James only just finished it when Albus walked over.
"Any good news in that?" He asked.
"They had more information on the attack. Sightings. The leader, they think, is a Death Eaters called Avery, but another says it was Rowle." Albus nodded, and stood up, walking to a large book, and scanning.
"All two of them were originally Voldemort's.... so of course they would want a second chance to kill off some Muggle-Borns." He said rather grimly, sitting back down. James passed the report to Albus, who eagerly read it.
"I'll take notes tonight," he said, standing up. James just spoke a small 'okay' as Albus wouldn't hear him either way. He took a look over some more papers, before drifting off to sleep. It was Friday, after all.

Yes, well if this were a 2 hour movie... we'd only be 10 minutes in, so... yeah. *cough* As I said, 2 chapters today, and here is the second one. Also, I might (notice MIGHT) be able to post another one later. We shall see....

CHAPTER 6:
A Great Day For Freedom

James snorted so loud, even he heard it and woke up. When he woke up, a paper was thrown at him. He caught it as it slid down his face. He looked at the offender. Albus stood, smiling.
"Mornin', sleepmeister." He said, yawning and sat down in the same place he had last night previously. James read the paper, which was slightly scrawled. It was on a rather long piece of parchment, so James laid over the papers that covered the table, his eyes scanning the diagrams and notes.
"So... hmm.... they would try and go to the Minister's office.... that has he most information... hmm... what information would they need, though?" He spoke, more to himself than Albus.
"That's the point I'm wondering as well....." Albus said, pointing to a list of theory's.
There was a loud creaking noise, and suddenly they were greeted by George.
"Looking at those notes, eh? Well I think I have better information," he said smirking. James turned his attention to Fred.
"Yes?"
"They may be searching for a weapon that can destroy even them most trained in shield charms..."
"And? What is it?"
"Well, it was destroyed years ago..."
"OK... and why is this important?"
"It was kept secret. Ron just told me. No one knows except for Harry, Ron, and Minister Shacklebolt. And us now, I suppose." He said, shrugging his shoulders.
"So..... now they want it, without knowing it exists?" Albus said, taking his eyes from the dark wizard psychology book.
"Prescisley." George smiled,. James and Albus looked at each other, and then conjured some parchment that reached across the table. They began writing on both ends, several theories.
"So, that would mean they would be on the guard also, in case any Ministry officials arrive."
"Yup," George said, as he had made several of his own theories.

James and Albus looked at each other for a moment, almost having a whole conversation.
"OK. I need the schedule for the entire Ministry for that day of the Convention," Albus spoke suddenly. George nodded, then ran off, going to inform Ron of this. James was thinking staring at the parchment.
"We'll have to get there right as the Ministry leaves...." He said, still staring at the parchment.
"And train extra harder..." Albus continued for him. James stood suddenly, walking to the fire. It was still early morning, and Ron would be getting ready for the Ministry, and they always required a way to go somewhere, so the the Room gave them the private Floo.
James took some of his notes he had made, and walked to the fireplace, stepping into it. He grabbed a handful of Floo Powder, and threw it on the ground while saying,
"The Weasley House!"
He was spinning, spinning, spinning, but then, luckily, landed safely.
"Blimey! James!" Ron shouted. He was putting on his tie for work, and jumped so bad he hit the wall.
"Sorry, but I just wanted to pass these off to you..." He said, clearing his throat and laying the paper on the table.

The papers were several notes on how the Ministry could look out for the Death Eaters and anticipate moves from them.
"Its just the notes I told you I'd give you.. erm, sorry for the intrusion..." He said, and jumped back into the fireplace, back to the Room of Requirement were Albus was snoring loudly, and Rose had arrived, sitting and reading over the plans so far.

Yes, very short chapter but I've been having the nagging feeling to how whats its like in the Ministry right now. Even if its just a short scene. But I promise you'll see more of it later

CHAPTER 7:
Fools on a Ledge

He sighed contentedly, his eyes closed. The night could be so relaxing, even for a Dark Lord. He was waiting. He had contacted the Ministry anonymously, stating exactly where he was. He said he was Avery, whom at the time was one of the most wanted enemy.
He smiled when he heard 6 pops, no doubt of apparation. He opened his eyes, to see 6 men surrounding him. One had a reversed grip on his wand. Interesting.
He smiled, and no Auror survived.

Harry rubbed at his temples. The Ministry was crazy, now that six of their best Aurors had been found dead. Ron ran in, holding a stack of papers.
"Well, they all died rather quickly." He said. "All six of our best Aurors were killed within 3 minutes, Harry. Something isn't right here." He said, sitting at his desk and shaking his head.
"I think I need to worry more about Hogwarts and my children than us right now." Harry said, reading the papers. "Death Eater sightings all over Britain. Muggles found dead.... cause unknown....." Harry began banging his head on the desk lightly.
"Hey, mate, calm down. It's gunna be fine," Ron said, opening another folder.
"We've got a large war coming on. Its going to break out any time now. And I don't think we've even started the fighting yet, attack on Hogwarts or not." He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, sighing.
"Harry, take the rest of the day off. I'll do your paperwork and such. just get some sleep." Ron spoke up.
"Thanks, Ron." harry said, standing up. "I owe you one," he said, opening to door and walking out.

CHAPTER 8:
Memories
______________________________

James and Albus would be in so much trouble right now. Sneaking out of Hogwarts at Midnight to go to the Forbidden Forest? A big no-no. But past a certain barrier in the forest, they could apparate, which is what they needed.
"James, you didn't say how many roots-OW!- there would be..." Albus said, grimacing. James didn't reply.
Leaves and twigs crunched under foot, as the dark trees loomed like... well it wasn't really like anything really. Albus nearly ran into a tree, and James almost tripped. Then, there was a loud noise, like rushing wind an a POP. A bright flash of white.

An old man fell to the ground, holding his stomach. His hair was thin and pure white, and he was wrinkled beyond believable. James and Albus fell to their knees next to him, near frantic.
"Are you okay?" Albus asked, his voice panicked.
"My..... my time has..... has finally arrived...... my end......" He wheezed, coughing horribly. "To... defeat.... Atrox..... memories...." A shaking hand grabbed his wand, and conjured a large shelf, filled with small glass phials. "Memories.... to defeat.... him........"
The old man laid his head down, and let out a long exhale, before closing his eyes forever.
James and Albus looked at each other, confused, and then walked to the small glass phials.
"Memories...." Albus whispered. "His own.... 'to defeat Atrox'...... they must be very important...." Albus said, and picked up one of delicate-looking phials.
"We need a penseive." Albus whispered again, slightly awe struck at all of the memories.
"Headmistress has one. I think we should talk to her about this later, when it isn't the middle of the night."
"But what about the mission?"
"Nevermind that, I think getting to get any good info on Atrox is better!" James raised his voice slightly.
"We've got to turned it into something.... here, a goblet...." Albus spoke, and waved his wand.

The shelf shuddered for a second, then a bright flash of violet light, and a silver goblet sat there, as if someone had placed it there and since forgotten it.
"So... are you gonna take it?" Albus asked.
"No, I'll end up breaking it somehow. You do it." He said, getting off his knee and beginning to walk away. Albus picked up the goblet and examined it, before catching up with James.
"So, um, tomorrow, we talk about this to McGonagoll?" He asked, frightened slightly of what she would say.
"Yup." James said, also slightly frightened.
"She won't kill use, will she?"
"Maim."
"That's... better....." He said, looking at the large castle, dark against the moon lit sky.
