Owl Post OfficeNeed to send an owl and don't have your own? Come and meet our owls and send your letters and packages, but don't forget to pay the postage costs!
To the left of the entrance, several large racks have been set up. Neatly stacked inside each slot are various postcards, each depicting a different area of Diagon Alley. The little figures on each, seemingly unaware that they were photographed, go about their daily business as usual. Considering sending a small note to a friend? Maybe you'd like to send them a little taste of Diagon Alley. There are many to choose from; once you've decided, feel free to continue on to the Letter Writing Stations to fill it out!

Taking a brief break from standing behind the front desk since there wasn't a line at the moment, Vashti wandered over to the Postcard Rack and picked one up at random to look at. There were some really nice pictures on these things, which she noticed after quickly looking the rack up and down. She almost wanted to get one, but who would she send it to? Kristina? She'd seen her not that long ago, and her stepsister didn't care much for Diagon Alley. And she wasn't going to just buy on for herself. So she placed the postcard she was holding back in its place...but grabbed another to look at. Just because she didn't have a reason to get one at this time didn't mean she couldn't continue looking at them.

"I always wondered if any of these people have visited us, and saw their images on our postcards." Aglaia had just left a customer and came over to see what one of her employees was up to. Inventory? Lost? She leaned towards the rack and watched one couple with detached interest.

It had took a few minutes, but Clifford seemed to realize that there was some sort of gathering of his co-workers. So, he figured now was as good a time as any to break out the chocolates. Going behind the counter, he picked up the first box of truffles before walking toward them. Opening them on the short walk, he held them out toward the two of them. "Ladies?" He grinned.

At the sound of a voice that was suddenly right next to her, Vashti jumped slightly before realizing it was just her boss, Aglaia. Glancing back briefly at the people walking about in the postcards, she asked, "Do any of them even know they're in them?" Surely if they knew, they'd probably come in to see them, perhaps even buy some of them. But if they didn't know, she wasn't sure they'd even think to come to the Post Office and look for themselves in the postcards.
And then her other co-worker, Clifford, had appeared, holding out...chocolates? "Ohhhh," she said. "Those look good." Should she take one? She almost raised her hand to, but then decided she didn't want to look greedy - and that her boss should have the first pick.

"I doubt it, but I would say ALL of them are oblivious to these postcards." She leaned in to inspect an elderly couple trying to scoot by a group of Hogwarts students. "Some have had to noticed the flash of camera or stopped by here." But how was she to know? None have mentioned it to her, and she hadn't lived her long enough to need restocking of them.
She leaned back away from the racks when her other worker appeared with chocolates. Aglaia inspected them for a brief moment before snagging a few and flashing him a grin. "Man." The only to be working her she noted silently, as well as Vashti waiting for her to take the candy first.
They both had SUCH good manners.
Unnecessary, but good.
"You carry these around all the time?"

His grin widened at the youngest of his co-workers, glad that the sweets appealed to her eyes. Though.. she seemed to be waiting for something. He eyed her before realizing his own manners. The boss had first dibs. As Aglaia took some chocolate, he again offered them to Vashti, hoping she'd take one now. Though, he didn't wait for her to snatch one up before doing so himself. He popped a truffle into his mouth before shaking his head at his boss and swallowing what remained of the sweet treat.
"No, no. That would be ridiculous. Actually, I bought them over at Sugarplums yesterday." He'd thought it would be a nice treat and afterall, who didn't like chocolate? Couldn't really go wrong there, could he? "I thought it would be nice to keep around the office." And away from the owls.

Vashti nodded. Yes, they all probably were oblivious to the postcards. She hadn't worked at the Post Office for very long, but she hadn't seen many people pay much, if any, attention to them. Customers usually just went to the service desk to send their letter and then left right after. A flash of the camera? "Maybe they assumed it was for the Daily Prophet," she suggested. That would surely be her first guess if she saw someone taking random pictures. She wouldn't assume they were going to be on a postcard.
Now that Aglaia and Clifford had gotten their chance at the chocolate, Vashti didn't have to feel bad about taking one or two or four. She popped one into her mouth and ate it while her two coworkers discussed why he had them. She swallowed that first one and was about to eat her second but stopped to agree with Cliff, "They are very nice." Then she popped the second piece of delicious chocolate truffle into her mouth.
Mmmm. Yummy.

"I think your right." She finished off a truffle and carefully opened the next. "We should keep them in the office, to snack on while we work on letters." Though keeping them from the owls, especially that big chocolate loving one, was going to be difficult.
The Daily Prophet? "Haven't seen them buzzing around lately, speaking of." She nodded her head. "But that would be a good guess. We were just wondering if these witches and wizards here know if they're on a postcard, Clifford." And leaving him to do all the work. Opps?

Right. There were a couple of things Eleanor still needed to do before she apparated back home. One was to find a post card; her parents would be expecting one soon. It was one of their weird obsessions, along with collecting shoelaces and bottle tops. Not something to be questioned. The second thing, was to go to the bar and take some much needed time out.
Well, perhaps not that needed, but a girl could treat herself.
Lenny was currently in a weird state of being passed around in departments. She'd left the world of plant and the environment and of that and was onto bigger and better things. You know, once her application was sorted and she heard back from a soon-to-be-boss. Exciting stuff, right? Right. Lenny let her eyes wander over the postcards on the stand, not particularly caring whether she was stood in anyone's way; that thought had not occurred to her at all. Oooh, that post card looked alright, if you ignored the slightly ugly building in the background. On second thoughts, no ..

Victoria walked into the post office, she needed to send Bart a few things while he was still at his dads. As she walked around, she noticed post cards. Maybe she could send a few of her friends some quick hellos. Since she moved back from Sydney, she hadn't sent them anything.
As she scanned the post cards she noticed someone else looking, she wondered if the woman was a tourist and then wondered if anyone else thought she was. Hmm that was an interesting thought. "Any good ones you can recommend?" Why not ask, save the trouble of looking at all of them.

Eleanor was still resisting the urge to roll her eyes at every post card she saw (they all had something peculiar about them), when someone else walked in, on a similar mission to her own. Her recommendations? Lenny looked the other women up and down quickly and stopped her searching momentarily. Then woman did know she didn't work here, right? She turned back to the post cards and continued looking, but gave in and spoke. "Sure, what type are you looking for?"
She, herself, had gotten plenty before, thanks to her parents and was .. open to sharing tips with total strangers. "For a friend?" She asked curiously, picking a post card up and inspecting it. Nice people, waving by, blissfully unaware that they were now forever captured in a post card. Almost nice building, one of the shops down the street. She put it back. Not quite right. This was proving harder than she'd thought; it was JUST a post card. Instead, she turned her attention back to person she was 'helping'.

Introductions. "The name's Lenny."
Victoria saw a look from the lady, oh maybe she wouldn't want to small talk or she got offended that Vic asked her for help. Well it was alright if that was the case, but then she asked a question so maybe she wasn't as put off as Vic first thought. Smiling at the lady, "Well I'm not really sure I guess." She continued to look the post cards. She never really bought one before, which seemed weird once she thought about it.
Stopping and turning Victoria gave a small shrug, "A few friends actually. I was in to send things to my send, but saw these and thought maybe I could send them to a few friends back at my old home." She did miss them terribly and the fact that she really only had one friend here in two years, she felt a little pathetic as well.
Giving a hand and a smile, "Nice to meet you Lenny, I'm Victoria. What are you looking for? A friend as well?"
With unnecessary sunglasses pushed high up on her head, Carina kept herself busy at the front of the entrance by browsing through the postcard rack, which seemed to consist of nothing but pictures of the very Alley she was currently in. Idly, she wondered if many people bought these to send to friends, or family. Didn't most people who traveled Diagon Alley, typically frequent it? Maybe she was wrong. Maybe that was merely those Hogwarts students, during the summer, and their families.
Many, many years had passed since she'd been one of those students, and since she'd last frequented the Alley herself. Many.
Sweeping a long, blonde lock of hair over her shoulder, the woman's large eyes gazed toward the door, as if she'd thought she'd heard it open - although upon looking that clearly wasn't the case. She was probably just being antsy, is all. Sigh. Why couldn't she have been first?
Adjusting her gentle hold on a piece of parchment as not to wrinkle it's perfectly smooth surface, and the de-thorned stem of the rose, Carina turned her attention back toward the postcards.

Dïanga slipped through the streets and into the nearest shop. Bristol was away, spending time with Forrest probably, and Jamie was busy with his family, so she was stuck all alone. It wasn't too bad, really. Being alone gave her more opportunities to observe things in peace and to ... blend in more. This store wasn't one she really needed to blend in to, though, 'cause there hardly seemed to be anyone it.

Looking around, Dee was drawn to the postcards.
Impressive photography.
Bright colours.
CASSIUS DOLOHOV swooped his hair back, trying to play it cool as he walked through Diagon Alley. Normally, he didn't accompany his elf here to run errands. Lately, though, he had been SO bored that he practically begged the elf to allow him to come.
Sure, he did end up just ORDERING the elf to let him come. Heh. It was worth it, this being wealthy thing.
Anywho, the brown-haired boy stepped into the post shop mostly to see the owls. He also needed to check out the Quidditch store, because looking at BROOMS was always exciting..but for now..here he was. And for some reason, he was drawn to the postcards. Maybe he'd buy one..just for the heck of it. Or...he had a weird idea, but for some reason, he thought it was a good one.
He was going to buy one for his mother. And next time he and whomever(his father hardly accompanied him) visited her grave, he'd put it there.
Cassius normally didn't even think about her...but...lately, he had. What with getting into girls...and...his dad dating Margot Grimm...he just...it made him miss her. Not that he would admit this to anyone. Because he WOULD NOT EVER. but yeah...
He tried to find a pretty one--one that his French mother would have liked--and squinted at the one in his hand currently. Hmph.

It wasn't long until Dee's peace was disturbed, however.
Not disturbed, as such ... she was just no longer alone. Peeking up out of the corner of her eye she saw a taller boy there, browsing the postcards with a sad sort of expression on his face. Heh. She tried to discretely slide further away from him, but stay in viewing distance of the postcards. Easier said than done. She just ended up looking awkward and in the way, rather than invisible as she would have preferred.

Nothing to see here, folks.
Cassius finally found a pretty one of Diagon in winter...his mother had loved the snow, he could remember a few things like that, at least. Hmph. He rubbed it on his pants to make it shinier and held it up to the light JUST to make sure--
And that's when he caught sight of the red hair. It was GLARINGLY red almost. And it was...so noticeable that he almost forgot what he was doing. "Are you...watching me?" he squinted at the girl. Because if she was, that was just plain CREEPY?
Cassius KNEW he was a cute guy, though, so maybe he'd cut her some slack.

Colt decided it was time to visit Diagon Alley. His parents wanted him to go Hogwarts and he got his letter a little while ago. I guess he had magical blood in him somehow. His father's side, he was a wizard and he never knew that. He hoped to meet Amelia here. I mean he only talked to her briefly but he wanted to see her again. As he began to walk down the street since his parents were busy buying some drinks at the florean flortescues, he saw some postcards.
Hmm....possibly he could get some postcards for his friends. They never have been to Europe before. He began to look through them and see which ones looked good.

Amelia was so ready for summer. This school year had been so eventful she needed a break. Not that she minded of course, she was smart, but they had a pool in the garden! How could she not look forward to that?! Being 13 now the brunette FINALLY didnt have to sneak off anymore and was "allowed" to go to Diagon Alley alone. Tennagerism already felt sweet.
Ohhhhhhhh....
Sweets. Yes, that was something she needed right now. Where were all the people she knew ?! What was happening here?! Amelia hadnt seen a single person she knew so far and that was ....simple impossible cause she knew everyone.
Just about to pout about that fact she came across the postcard rack...THE POSTCARD RACK AND COLT !!!!!
If she didnt already know Amelia would think she had magical powers. " COLT!", she shouted and grinned and waved and walked over to him.

As Colt was looking for her postcards for his friends and family back in New York City, he heard a voice call his name. He turned his head and tilted his head in confusion and thought he was seeing things. He heard her say his name again and he grinned and knew who it was instantly. "Heyy Amelia." he nodded towards her. He didn't know if he should hug her or not. I mean usually girls were sensitive about their personal space.
Aahhh oh well. He went over and hugged her lightly and smiled when he saw her in person. "It is good to see you again Amelia. How was your summer?" he asked curiously. He had to admit she looked prettier in person.
Seriously? Why were they even in the owl shop? It wasn't like they had owls at home or anything noooooooooo. Sarcasm of course. Chris sighed and went over to the rack of postcards and started spinning them idly.
Looking over he spotted two kids that appeared near his age. He looked at them as they seemed to be talking and then went back to spinning the rack. Oooo pretty one. He stopped the rack and picked one out and started looking at it.

Amelia approached her minion friend and gave him her best smile. Of course she would give him her best smile, people would see and notice if she didnt give her best and a Powell couldnt have that. Raising her hand to wave at him the brunette came to a stop. What was he doing at the postcard rack?! Wasnt it better to look at things....for real?!
She didnt have time to think about that anymore though as she felt him hug her. Smiiiiiirrrrrk. Of course he would hug her, she had trained him in hopw to treat a lady and obviously it was working. Hugging him back Amelia squished him a little bit. She liked hugs....not that she would admit that, but they were nice. "I beeeeeeeeeet you missed me, i mean you have havent you?!", she grinned linking arms with him.
Oh yes summer....where to staaaart...."It's been good, we have a pool", the third year nodded, "what about you?"
Waiting for his answer Amelia looked around and...noticed another boy that seemed her age. Why didn't she know him?! This was not acceptable.
"Hellooooo, you over there!" Had he just been looking at her? Well of course but....had he ?! Mmmmmhhh....

Colt had been noticing that a dude (Chris) kept looking his way. He raised his eyebrows at him and he seemed to be judging him because of looking at the postcards. Ah he must be from a wizarding family. They don't believe in those sort of things. He nodded his head towards him and said, "Sup mate?" He looked at a wizarding like postcard and that would be perfect for his grandma. He pocketed that one and was gonna buy it soon.
He felt Amelia squishing hug and he hugged her back tighter just cause. Colt laughed and thought someone was being overly confident. "Well of course I missed you. I mean we only met briefly but it is nice to see you again." he shrugged and went back to the postcards. "I am looking for some cards to send back to my family.." he explained to her. He noticed her linking arms with him and he raised his eyebrows. Was something going on here? Hmm well he liked it. Now onto the summer topic. "Well summer has been good. I mean I was in New York City for a while. I did a really long slip and slide in the city. I also went to the skatepark and such. Nothing too much." he winked. "And where was my invitation for this pool party?" he teased.
Chris was doing his best to focus on the pretty post cards and not eavesdropping on the conversation going on but he wasn't doing well at that. He looked at them as he heard the girl speak and looked over his shoulder to see if she was talking to someone else. "Um...hi?" he said turning back to her after he realized there was no one else there.
"Sup?" he said raising an eyebrow and looking at them both. "Sorry I didn't mean to..." to do what exactly? Eh oh well. "I'm Chris," he said instead with a slight smile. At least they looked nearer his age then some of the people he had seen around here.
