NOT the Astronomy office (Professor Truebridge)

Aside from the furniture, very little remains in the Astronomy office to indicate that Professor Edward Forrester once occupied it. In a box to one side, the last of his things had been carefully stacked. A few photographs peeking out of the box along with astronomical things that Ethan Truebridge had no time for, even if he was loathe to simply dispose of them

He had, upon being ousted from his own office on the first floor, arranged several of his personal items around the room.

Pictures of Ethan in his days as a student at WADA (if you look closely at the one on the left, you might recognize another Hogwarts staff member shuffling a pack of cards and doing one of those hit-with-the-ladies grins that former rockstars are quite good at) , one of him as a thirteen year old in Slytherin robes (And that younger Gryffindor boy with him just happens to be the bartender at the Leaky Cauldron), a selection of him a few years ago with various dragons in the background, one featuring dragons (and a certain fiery red headed professor), one of him on a muggle sailing ship, another on stage dressed in tights and holding a skull and one of him in Egypt working with curse breakers and from this summer, a picture of Anastasia Bunbury, one of himself and Copernicus Kettleburn in Egypt and one of himself with Jake Upstead after taking the young Hufflepuff rock climbing.

An old looking gramophone sits on the desk with a selection of records stacked haphazardly to one side, various eras of music are represented; of both the wizarding and the muggle variety. On the walls his OWL and NEWT results are proudly displayed alongside certificates proclaiming his knowledge and familiarity with various Dragon breeds.

A large basket sits in one corner, and a slight snoring sound can often be heard coming from this direction where Ethan’s chihuahua makes its bed... usually anyway.

Where IS the chihuahua?!


On the bright side, at least it was no longer a completely odd thing to see History of Magic practically relocated to the Astronomy tower.

And the view was nice.

Gabby was the first to arrive at the History of Magic classroom, and knocked. She waited patiently for someone to answer.

Truebridge flicked his wand and the door to the office swung open slowly.

"Can I help?" He asked this in a quiet voice, quite aware that most likely, if someone was knocking on the door already, they either had looked for him in his REAL office and found Borr instead, or they were looking for the Astronomy professor.

Certainly felt odd to be so displaced but then, it was nothing new.

After pinning her picture honouring Professor Forrester to the memorial board, Kiri wandered around the Astronomy Tower aimlessly for a while. She had a vague wish to be alone - she definitely did not want to return to the Slytherin common room, which, at any rate, was inconveniently far away - but she did not know what to do with herself.
The Observatory was still full of the professor's belongings. She wondered what would happen to them.

On a whim, she wandered over to Professor Forrester's old office. Who would teach the subject now?
The office, it turned out, was most definitely still in use, but not (unless she was very much mistaken) by the Astronomy instructor. Kiri stared at the various History of Magic items - lesson plans, homework instructions - attached to the door and tried to figure out why Professor Truebridge would choose to reside this high up, far away from the Great Hall and the staff room. And his own classroom, too.

She knocked on the door.

Jake kind of found out the hard way that this was now Truebridge's office. Yeah. Fun.

It seemed the man was dealing with some students and about to head into his office so Jake sped up a little before stopping in front of the man. And then, just because he felt compelled, Jake stretched forwards slightly, and knocked on the edge of the already open door.

"Come on in." Truebridge called out, nodding pleasantly when he saw it was Kiri. One of the brighter ones which he always appreciated.

And Slytherin.

"Cheers," Jake nodded, heading into the office, eye caught by the many photographs in there. Immediately he began to try and look for a certain one. "A couple of things actually. And Jake kept scanning the room.

"Erm, thank you," said Kiri with a small smile, and slipped inside the room. The office looked nothing like just a few months ago when Professor Forrester had still been its occupant and owner. A forlorn-looking box with the last of his things stood to one side, but the rest of the space clearly belonged to Professor Truebridge now.

Kiri glanced at the photographs curiously. She'd never been in the professor's office before, had she? He'd certainly come around a lot. Many of the backgrounds in the photographs showed unfamiliar - and highly varying - landscapes. The old record-playing contraption looked like something she'd been shown in Muggle Studies once, but Kiri had forgotten the name.

She sat down on one of the old chairs. "How, um, how are you, Professor? Did you have a good summer?" Feeling slightly daring, she pointed at the photographs. "Did you travel somewhere, er, exotic?" She tried to recall why exactly she'd knocked on the door. How could he help her again? "I just... well, have a question or two about what's happening with Astronomy now."

Gabby thought for a moment. Sort of. What I mean is... I'm interested in their perspective of muggles. You know how we, being wizards and witches, look at muggles. She looked at the professor, hoping that he understood her.

Ella grinned as she knocked at the door of Professor Truebridge. The smell of the chocolate behind her back still hung in the air. Ah, she was a suck-up. Teehee. Well, she was only distributing chocolate to the one's she liked anyway. Fidgeting with her dress robes, she smiled at herself.

"You okay, sweetie?" she asked, concerned, seeing the bruises on his visible skin. Her fingers brushed over them lightly. "Would you like me to heal them?"

"The chocolates? Oh, for my favorite teachers. We can go to Hogsmeade sometime later, too." she smiled.

"Hmm.." Ella smiled, tapping her finger on her chin, "Usually I'd expect the boyfriend to give the girlfriend the chocolate..." she laughed, then added, "And I had brought chocolate in my picnic basket!"

"Oh, yes, definitely! We'll go together after meeting the professor."

"Are you sure?" she asked, running a cool finger over his skin again. It looked pretty badly bitten.

Truebridge looked between Jake and Kiri and nodded once. "I had a good summer, I suppose some might think Egypt is fairly exotic? I was there most of the time, and briefly visited the Congo." Ethan waved his hand dismissively.

"Astronomy... I suggest you spend as much time in the library as possible. You are unlikely to learn anything astronomy-related at the hands of... Borr. Just be glad neither of you are taking exams this term."

He shrugged.

"I can't really say much about... Borr and remain professional, so you will both have to excuse me for not having a real answer to the majority of your questions. Keep your head down, keep out of trouble, cooperate with him and you shouldn't have any problems."

If you are only here to visit socially with one another," And Ethan's face was mildly perturbed at the words 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' coming from the mouths of first years when he himself had a ridiculous amount of trouble using them,

"Then I'd suggest you move along while I am in a good mood and not quite yet planning on taking points or assigning detentions."

He conjured up a few more seats.

"But if there was something you wanted to talk about, go ahead and sit down."

Jake knew he was doomed as soon as Truebridge said the words 'keep out of trouble, cooperate with him'. That was just... great. "Dang," he muttered in response to that. "Well... thanks I guess."

As he found the picture he was indeed looking for, Jake turned back to Truebridge again, but his eye caught sight of an image of Bunbury. "Professor... why is she up here?" he asked, pointing at the photo of Bunbury.

OH! And speaking of which. "Do you have a tent I could borrow?"

... Slightly off topic, yes.

On the way up here, Raiden had thought long and hard about who to put these questions to. There were many professors in Hogwarts, and a great deal more students. Most, however... he wouldn't consider talking to about things like this. He wasn't sure if he could trust them, really.

Put quite simply, there was only one person he could talk to about this. And thus, with a strange force that was completely alien to the fourth year, Raiden knocked on the doorframe of the office, trying his best to keep his breathing even, and to not think of Daphne Hopton on the windowsill, as he looked at the herd of students that were already inside there. He didn't... want to talk in front of all of those people.

Hopefully Professor Truebridge wouldn't mind having a chat with him. After all, when Raiden had been a second year, Professor Truebridge had put forth the idea that he could blow his head up. They had bonded. Kinda.

"Professor... I was wondering if I could talk to you... but you're really busy." He paused awkwardly. "I'll wait."

"That's... it?" Kiri couldn't hide the disappointment from her voice. She wasn't quite sure what she'd expected, considering that she'd visited Professor Truebridge purely on a whim, but what he had told her hadn't really helped much. Except to be careful when around Borr and study on her own... but Kiri had had more or less figured that out herself already.

She smiled, albeit a little distractedly, to show that she wasn't faulting the professor. "Mmm... Well, thank you, Professor," she said, and got up. There wasn't really much else to discuss. The little office was full of students as well by now. Kiri would just get in the way as usual. "I'm looking forward to your lessons. Bye." Kiri waved at Jake and stepped past the chatting first-years.
Outside the door, she saw Raiden. He had an extremely distracted look on his face. Kiri's smile faltered. "Hey Raiden," she mumbled. He didn't look like he was in the mood to talk, so she shuffled past him and headed out into the corridor.

Why indeed?

Truebridge shot Jake a level look and was thoughtfully quiet for a long moment.

"Why wouldn't she be? Professor Lawson is up there too." Truth. Though Lawson and Truebridge were much, much younger in that picture. 16 or 17 or so, and the picture with Annie was very recent, only this past summer.

He blinked.

A tent?

"I do, depending on the purpose. I have several charmed for different purposes."

Narrowing his eyes at the picture, Jake studied it closely with only a sliiiiight hint of distaste. "Judging from what I saw last year, you and him are friends... were friends, too," he added, zoning in on the other picture that held a quite obvious young Truebridge and Lawson, though not at Hogwarts, like one of the others showed with some other random dude. "I never saw any pictures of her last year," Jake went on, drawing his eyes away from the photo.

"Don't matter, I guess... except..." Jake was certain to share his advice on this matter. Truebridge needed NICE friends. Yes, he did, "She isn't exactly the... nicest person you can be friends with. You wanna watch her."

He really did.

Oooooh. Tent, here we go. "Just a camping one... I mean, of course, may I borrow one?" he said, rephrasing the question. "For staying in for a tiny little while. I'm not planning on running away or anything... Well... that's not what it's for... It's school related..." Jake trailed off after babbling for a while, flashing an awkward smile.
