Minister for Magic's Office

Though the heavy wooden door, a carved masterpiece detailing the history of the founding of the Ministry of Magic, stands as sentinel for this office, much the same as it did during the reign of Cooper and Ministers before him, the interior of the office varies drastically from its appearance under the former owner. No more dark green paired with dark wood and dark, dark, dark. In with the light, symbolic of the changes for the greater good that Minister Taylor vows to make. Cream colored couches and numerous candle chandeliers increase the positive energy of this room.

The only piece of furniture unchanged is a massive dark wood desk, with its brass detailing and multi-lock drawers. A name plate on the edge of the desk reads:

Reagan F. Taylor, Minister for Magic

The walls double as book shelves, which are lined with an enormous amount of books, an ever-growing collection of resources. Between these shelves are two large windows, enchanted to resemble an aerial view of London, despite the office being underground. Reagan often likes a change in scenery, so don't be surprised if the view changes from time to time.

as numble walking in to the ministers office it looks so big and nice he says to the minister wow the office looks amazing mrs.Reagen and im sorry about rushing in on your meeting earlier just eager for my first assingment,now down to business were would you like me to began?he asks the minister.

Taking her seat behind her desk, Reagan flattened the forreign correspondance upon the surface before replying, "Thank you, Mr. Numble. And I'm actually not married, so please call me either Ms. Taylor or Minister Taylor," a friendly smile upon her face. "As for my meeting, that is quite alright. I appreciate your enthusiasm. And with that, please begin with the enchantments on the door and then on the fireplace."

Ok Ms.Taylor numble said smileing back, well i should get to work he said pulling out his wand shounldnt but a few minutes so you'll be ready for your meeting in no time he said before he turns to the door and starts the protection spell so that no intuders will be able to enter after a few minutes with the door numble is done then he moves on to the fireplace exept with the fireplace he make sure not even a bat will be able to get in there after a few minutes again gos by he done he turns to minister taylor and say's all done the protection spell will make sure noone enter with out your say so is there anything else you need me to do ma'am

While Numble proceeded to renew the enchantments upon her office door and fireplace, Reagan retrieved a fresh piece of official Ministry parchment. Lifting her Quick Quotes Quill from the ink well, Reagan steadied it upon the parchment and was about to begin dictating when she realized that the matters she wished to put in writing probably shouldn't be heard by anyone not involved. Sigh. She'd have to write by hand until Mr. Numble was done.

Scratch. Scratch. Scratch. The noise from her quill moving furiously across the parchment. Despite the speed with which she wrote, Minister Taylor's penmanship was as neat and legible as ever. When addressed by Mr. Numble, Reagan looked up and placed her quill down upon the desk. She replied, "Excellent. No Minister has ever been attacked within these walls, and I'd like to keep it that way. You placed anti-intruder jinxes upon both the door and fireplace, including anti-apparation and disapparition spells, I assume? If you could, I'd love for anti-theft measures to be placed upon the whole office. Maybe some fastening or binding magic so that the culprit can't move and will be caught? You know, something with chains or ropes."

yea ma'am Numble said to the minister the whole nine yards,noone will be able to enter this office inless you tell them it ok to enter.as for the anti-theft spell ill get right on that......numble turn to the door again and placed an anti-intuder spell on the door then after a few minutes he moves on to the fireplace puts the same spell as the door.and turns back to the minister ok the anti-intuder spell is complete that should do it..is there anything else i can help you with or do for you minister Taylor

Pepe moved swiftly past the empty undersecretary's desk and knocked on the door to the Minister of Magic's office. He was actually nervous about this meeting and his healed, but scared hands, were sweating. He wasn't nervous about bypassing the desk since he was expected and asked to arrive directly. He was anxious about what the Minister was going to tell him. Would he be allowed to remain as headmaster with his new condition? Especially so soon after...

Hearing the knock upon the door, Reagan rolled up the parchment upon which she had been writing and tucked it into one of the drawers of her desk. Pushing the chair back from the desk, Minister Taylor stood up slowly and made her way around to the door. Before reaching for the door knob, Reagan smoothed her hair and then her robes. She glanced through the peep hole in the door and saw the familiar face of Mr. Bontecou. She slowly opened the door and greeted him, "Headmaster Bontecou, please come in and have a seat. Make yourself comfortable."

She then allowed Mr. Numble to exit her office before closing the door and turning her attention back to Mr. Bontecou.

"Thanks," he smiled as the Minister greeted him personally at her door AND addressed him as headmaster. That was encouraging. Rey pushed his glasses up his nose from where they'd slid down a bit. For once he didn't look like he'd just rolled out of bed and tossed on the first clothes that his hands could reach (including glasses that had spent too many days in the potions classroom without a cleaning). While he could never come up to the everyday standards of Doyle Branxton, Rey had on clean robes his mother had actually pressed, a tie nearly tied correctly and very nearly perfectly straight, and shiny glasses (glass and frames!) And even though he wasn't as perfectly healthy looking as he had been before the accident, he wasn't as pale and sickly looking as he'd been recently, either which was good for this meeting.

Rey sat and tried to make himself comfortable as the Minister concluded her business. He glanced around the office. It had changed quite a bit from the last time he'd been here under Minister Cooper. Nice. A woman's touch was just what this office needed, in more ways than one and that's why he'd voted for her.

Reagan took a seat on the couch opposite Reynard, resting her folded hands upon her lap. Taking in his appearance, Minister Taylor noticed that he'd gone to great efforts to appear well and in good health, and for the most part, he had succeeded. She offered as she gestured to the tea tray upon the table, "Would you care for some tea?" She proceeded to pour herself a cup and glanced up at Bontecou's face to determine if she should pour him a cup, as well.

"Yes please, thank you," Pepe answered with another smile. He hoped this making him feel relaxed bit wasn't part of a ploy to let him down easy. He wondered if he should say something to get things going or let the Minister start things off...

Reagan poured Rey a cup of tea and gestured to the milk and sugar, "I'll let you fix it as it pleases you." Reagan helped herself to a splash of milk and a cube of sugar, stirring her tea six times counterclockwise and once clockwise to ensure that all of the sugar dissolved. Ever the potioneer!

Quickly sipping her tea, Reagan eyed Bontecou once more and then asked, "So, I suppose we should get right down to it. Mr. Bontecou, could you please recap the events of that assembly to me with as much detail as you recall?"

"Of course," Rey said and utilized the few moments it took to prepare his own tea (two lumps of sugar and a squiggly stirring technique) to organize his thoughts. "Everything went according to plan, at least at first. I inspected the cage and potion before setting up. The students were respectful, for the most part, and had some very good questions for each of the professors presenting information at the assembly. Just prior to the appearance of the full moon Professor Lupa entered the cage and I locked it. However, when she took her potion she began to tell me something. I couldn't make out what it was, but was able to make an educated guess because she began to scream with pain.

"Prior to agreeing to the assembly, Less and I spent a full moon evening together. I wanted to be sure it would be safe and that she was comfortable with the idea of others seeing her change before subjecting her to such a thing as an assembly. I also wanted to be certain it wasn't something that would be traumatic for the students to witness. So I knew what to expect and her transformation was very different from the one I had witnessed. So, I was concerned, but only for Professor Lupa at this point because we'd specifically taken extra precautions. No one would have dreamed of the potion not working, but none of us were taking chances and the cage was in place. I was about to take out my wand to conjure a privacy shade for Less when the cage burst open and all I could think was that she was headed for the children. There wasn't time to draw on her and I didn't think anything less than a killing blow would stop her so I stepped in her path.

"I don't really remember anything after that," Rey concluded. His tea was still untouched in his hands and he continued to stare at the sculpture on the tea table he'd been staring at since he began his narrative. He did remember some, but it wasn't anything significant.

"I see." Reagan processed what the Headmaster told her quickly, a thousand questions formulating in her mind. The first she asked with great effort to remove any suspicion from her voice, "You say that you checked the potion and the cage prior to the assembly, and yet, both failed to act as originally intended. Do you have any ideas what happened between your evaluation and the failure at the assembly?"

"I can't imagine what could have gone wrong because they both seemed fine to me or I wouldn't have proceeded. Sabotage is all I can think of, but I can't imagine who or why or how. Maybe if I'd been able to inspect the area immediately after the incident, but I was unable to do so. Have aurors been in to examine the area?" he asked, though he new they should have been and surely there would have been something in the paper if that mystery had been solved.

"Yes, yes, of course." Reagan nodded solemnly. "Aurors were sent immediately upon our receiving notice of the... downturn of events at the assembly. Though I must say, we were not informed nearly as expeditiously as I would have preferred. I really think the staff at Hogwarts need to be trained in emergency protocols, including who to contact and when and for what. Should you return as Headmaster next term, I'd like to see that change implemented."

Sip sip sip. "The aurors did collect evidence whilst they were at Hogwarts, though I have not yet received the report of their conclusions. I shall be checking in with the head of the Auror division this afternoon to get my status report, at which time I will hopefully determine whether it is safe for the students to return to Hogwarts and whether there are members on staff who need to be removed for suspicion of criminal activity."

With a curious look toward Bontecou, Reagan inquired, "Might it be possible that Professor Lupa herself sabotaged the cage and the potion prior to the assembly? One can only imagine that after so many years of restraint, if an opportunity such as this presented itself, it would be tantalizing and difficult to ignore. Is Alessia Lupa capable of doing such a thing?" Reagan didn't know the woman much. She had no idea what she was capable of.

If he returned next term? So, there was a chance, at least. he should really focus on answering the minister's questions if he wanted to ensure he still had that chance. "Absolutely not. There is no way she'd ever do that. She is a very kind and gentle person. I can't imagine anything less than the imperious would have her sabotaging the assembly and I have my doubts as to whether or not even that would work," he vehemently replied and sloshed some tea on himself in his agitation.

Pepe quickly placed his cup back on the saucer and put both on the table before reaching for a napkin. "Excuse me," he blushed faintly in embarrassment as he mopped his lap. "But no, I don't believe Less could have had anything to do with it."

Samantha walked up to the Minister's Office, knowing that she was meeting with the Headmaster of Hogwarts at the present time. The arrival of Professor Lupa changed everything, she knew, and she had a feeling that the Minister would want to know about her arrival immediately if not sooner. Hesitating for just a moment, Samantha knocked on the door and announced, "Excuse me, Minister Taylor, but Professor Alessia Lupa has just arrived. I apologize for the interruption, but I thought I had better let you know of her arrival immediately in view of the circumstances." Samantha would not ordinarily interrupt any type of meeting, but she had a very strong feeling that Professor Lupa should be brought into the office as soon as possible, that Minister Taylor would want to be meeting with her right away and that announcing her presence was the right thing to do. "Edward Lestrange from the Aurors Division is here as well," she added.

"Very well. That is certainly something I prefer to hear. I value your opinion and your judgment and if you think that Lupa is not capable of such a thing, I hope very much for that to be the truth. Of course, she will be interviewed by the aurors, as will you if you haven't yet been. It is, of course, a matter of standard protocol to obtain eyewitness statements."

Reagan berated herself mentally for flustering the poor guy. He just got out of the hospital and here she goes stressing him out! With a calmness reassuring tone to her voice, Reagan leaned toward Reynard and spoke gently, "I am going to ask you a very important question and I hope that you will be completely honest with me. After all that has happened, do you physically, mentally, and emotionally feel well enough to return to Hogwarts in a Headmastery capacity and perform all the duties required of that position to advance the education of our students?"

Please have Ms. Lupa and Mr. Lestrange wait a moment longer in your office and I'll call them in just as soon as I finish with Mr. Bontecou."

Rey sat up straight and craned his neck a little in an attempt to sneak a peek at Less though the open door. She was here? He hadn't seen her since the assembly, but he'd worried about her. What was she doing here? Would she be okay seeing him?

He took a calming sip of tea and placed it back on the table when she turned back to him. "I've given this matter a lot of thought and if the Ministry was comfortable with letting me continue in my position as headmaster I would very much like to keep the position. I am definitely still up to the task."

Nodding while sipping her tea, Reagan swallowed and confirmed, "It is my belief that you have been an excellent Headmaster for Hogwarts and I see no reason to allow this mishap to prevent you from continuing in that post if you're willing and able to do so. However," Reagan paused for dramatic effect (because what this situation needs is obviously some more drama) and to convey the importance of her next statement, "as most of the letters from parents have been 50/50 regarding this matter, there will be a great deal of concern and a potential uproar over this decision." My first major decision as Minister and it had to be something this controversial? Sigh. I suppose this is what I signed up for.

"In order to alleviate the concern of those parents, the Ministry needs to be confident that such a horrible accident will not happen again. And so, the following is a requirement if you plan to stay on as Headmaster. A Ministry representative will travel to Hogwarts just before each full moon in order to administer Ministry-brewed Wolfsbane potion. You will ingest said potion and remain in your locked office for the duration of the full moon, during which time, the Ministry representative will remain present at Hogwarts. At the conclusion of the full moon, he or she will vacate Hogwarts quietly and without drawing attention to our arrangement. Do we have a deal?"

The maybe-still-headmaster listened carefully to her words and paused a moment to toss back the rest of his tea. "May I make a condition of my own?" he finally asked, studying the new minister, carefully.

"Well, why don't you share your condition and I'll let you know if it is a request that the Ministry can comply with or accomodate?" Reagan's sat with brows raised and an inquisitive expression upon her fair skinned face. She sipped her tea quietly, stirring it aimlessly as she contemplated what his condition could possibly be.
