Stepping into the Divinations tower, your sights may be greeted by a number of objects. Cheif amongst them today are a stack of glass slabs, a rubber pad of sorts about the size of the slab, ink, and rollers for the inks application. There are also various diaghrams of different sorts of hands.
" Take a seat, children. We'll begin in just a moment. Oh, and take a glass slab and one of these pads with you to your seats. We'll be using these later." He said, giving them some instruction. |

Anna took a deep sigh and then headed into the Divination classroom. My, time was surely passing by quickly. It seemed like only an hour ago she'd just been attending the last Divination class. Now it was time for yet another lesson to begin. At least Professor Kapoor was made of awesome. He'd always been extremely easy to get along with.
"Good day, Professor Kapoor," Anna said, smiling at her professor before collecting a glass slab and a pad. She turned and headed further into the classroom, taking a seat near the front. As she waited for the lesson to begin, Anna pulled out her Divination textbook and quietly read.

"Hello Professor!" Cela waved happily and took the things she needed before taking a seat, legs tucked up underneath herself and eyes bright with excitement.

Herminny entered the divination tower with a little more in her system hoping it would help her with her concentration. She then took her seat and waited for the lesson to start.

Kayla entered the divination classroom and stopped at the Professor's desk, "Good day Professor Kapoor." She picked up a glass slab and a pad and made her way over to an empty chair and sat down. She placed her things on the desk and pulled out some parchment and a quill.

Aggie burst into the room with a large bounce. Her auburn hair flying around her face as it caught up to her as she stopped. She looked around the room taking in the glass slabs and the rubber pads. Her excitement dimmed just a bit at the sight of them. She had thought, that for a change, her divinational practice of choice might have been being taught, but alas, it wasn’t so.
However, the excitement was only dimmed a bit. As Aggie walked up and gathered her supplies she gave Professor Kapoor what Aggie considered her flirtiest smile (and most other people considered a big toothed weirdo smile). “Hiya Professor!” she greeted she plucked a slab of glass up and a bit of a blush crept up into her cheeks. Kapoor was, in Aggie's opinion, one of the more attractive looking professors (although she wasn't entirely sure if this was solely because of his looks and not his teaching subject). “Been up to anything exciting lately?” She gathered up the rubber slab and then took her normal seat near the front of the classroom.

"Good day, students." He said, greeting them back. "Other than preparing your finals, Professor Morgan and I have been going over next terms cirriculum and I hope you'll all find it very enjoyable." He told the gryffindor girl who'd just walked in. "We'll wait just a few more minutes for everyone to arrive before we begin. In the meantime, for those of you who attended my last class. Do you remember what what relation to the minor arcana the four classical elements had?"

Air to Swords, the suit of strife and change. Water to Cups, the suit of emotions. Fire to Wands, the suit of creativity and invention. And Earth to Pentacles, the suit of practical, material, even financial matters."

Chris remembered this specifically because it was the last thing they had gone over. "The Elements...weren't they penacles for Earth, cups for the water, swords for air, and wands were fire.?" he said the answer.

" Yes. And, they correspond to water for cups, fire for wands, air for swords and earth for pentacles." He said giving a nod to Kayla and Chris, and picking up a piece of chalk.
" Well, in much a similar way, the four classical elements relate to certain hands types." With the chalk, he began to draw four distinct types of hands. The first was very gracile looking. " The air hand is characterized by having long, usually slender fingers, with a square palm. A very stark contrast to the earth hand, which is usually characterized with a squarish palm, and short fingers. Also, the earth hand tends to have very deeply carved lines in it. A clear story can often be read by an earth hand." He said as he drew the basic outline for the earth hand and started on another gracile hand that was smaller than the air hand. " The water hand looks almost just like the air hand with its long fingers, but the tips of these fingers are usually round and the palm is rectangular rather than square. Lastly, we have the fire hand. Would anyone care to venture a guess as to what shape the palm takes in this type of hand?" He asked the class.

Anna listened to the professor as he discussed the shapes of the air hand, the earth hand, and the water hand. The fourth hand, the fire hand, was the hand he'd left for the students to discuss. Raising her hand, Anna said, "The fingers of the fire hand are shorter then the length of the palm from the wrist to the bottom of the fingers," she said. "The palm of the fire hand is also square or rectangular-shaped and has a flushed appearance."

Sarah sat quietly at the back of the class.
Divination was not her best subject and she was having a hard time understanding everything as she scribbled it all down on her parchment.
Finishing writing down what had already been said she listened intently, chewing the end of her quill as she did so,to the other students.

" Alright, students, now that we've discussed the different types of hands that exist in Cheirology or Palmistry, it's important to note that sometimes the different features of one type with cross with another. It is possible for a water hand to have deep lines like a fire hand, and perhaps even have a thumb that is more like that of an earth type hand. In cases like these, we should look at what the thumb signifies in order to better interpret a persons hand. In parts of India, the thumb is thought to be the best and forthmost significator of one's personality."
He took the chalk and charmed it to write the word 'thumbs' on the blackboard while he explained. " The length of the thumb is generally measured by its relationship to the knuckle of the index finger. What does a long thumb usually indicates?"
