As you step through the Arithmancy classroom doors, the wooden desks and chairs have been arranged into the shapes of numbers, specifically a three and a seven. Professor Shackleton has provided a number of cushions in a myriad of colors and textures that are stacked by the door for you to choose from to match your comfort and liking.

Professor Shackleton sits behind her desk, sipping from a cup of tea with a box of tissues on the desk beside her. Her eyes appear a bit pink and glassy and her nose is red. She sneezes rather petitely in a high pitch, before blowing her nose and tossing the tissue in the trash can. Popping a cough drop into her mouth, Professor Shackleton greets you with a wave to conserve her already weakening voice.

OOC: This lesson is for fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh years ONLY. Any students in first, second, or third year who post in this thread will be dismissed.

Wheee! There was no way Clifford was about to miss ~~Miss Shackleton~~ Arithmancy, and the Prefect bounded energitcally into the classroom. "Hey Miss Sh-" Whoaaa, she didn't look so well. Oh noes. "Are you feeling okay, ma'am?" He asked, a little concerned. Was this his chance to shine? Ack. He shouldn't of given that pepper-up potion to Paris. Grabbing himself a nice green cushion, Clifford made his way further into the classroom. What was with the desks? Uhm.

Barry hurried into the classroom and dumped his books on a table and sat down. He waited for class to start. Arithmacy was so hard. Yes it was.

Tobi hurried into class. He'd been SO loaded down with homework he'd almost forgotten about it.

"Hi Professor!" He said taking a seat. He looked up to give her a bright smile, only then he noticed her, shall we say, less than cheerful demeanor. Uh oh, not cool. Do I have any sweets left? Girls liked sweets. It made everything better "Is everything cricket Professor?" he asked, more or less parroting Clifford's question, but really how do you not ask when faced with a girl even a professor girl, in distress?

Walking into her favorite class, Liz spots a pile of cushions by the door and takes an amethyst one. With a bounce in her step, she takes a seat near the front.

Taking a tissue, Macadrian wiped her nose, then tossed it into the trash can. Pushing her messied hair away from her face, Professor Shackleton made a note to ask the Headmaster or the Nurse for some Pepper-up potion and the house elves for a pitcher of orange juice.

Looking adoringly at her favorite professor, Liz asks "Have you had any orange juice, yet this morning, professor? I know when I feel, off, it always makes me feel better..."

He settled more calmly into his... pink cushion? How did I wind up picking a pink cushion? Oh well it was quite soft and squishy, though it reminded him strongly of Madam Puddifoots.

She ... smiiiiiled. Eye glazing over and insides all a flutter, Clifford sighed happily and dropped himself into the nearest seat. She was even nice too look at with messy hair and a snotty nose. Wheeeeee. "Well, if you need anything Miss Shackleton, I'm your man." He nodded, puffing out his chest before moving to get out his equipment ready for the lesson.

Professor Shackleton turned her attention to Liz, "I had a small glass with breagfast, but I think I neeb sub more. I'b goig to ask the houseelves to bring me sub later." She was frustrated by how unclear her voice sounded. She hoped her students would be able to understand what she was saying during the lesson today.

Miles happily walked into the next Arithmancy lesson, only because it was a subject he could understand. "Hello Professor." He smiled at Prof. Shackleton and dropped his bag by his desk and sat down.

"Oooh." He raised his eyebrow a little. "You don't seem too good, if ya don't mind me saying." Miles smiled sympathetically to the professor.

Shackleton was one of her favourite Professors and Evangeline was genuinely concerned about her, but did she had to be so pretty?! The blonde was making her boyfriend go all gaga over her! Hmpf.

Raising one eyebrow at Clifford's behaviour, the Prefect settled onto her seat, shuffling around in her green pillow. "If you need something from the Nurse, Ma'am, I can go get it!"

Bah. Shackleton was too nice. Evangeline could forgive her from making Clifford all weird.

"You could try sage tea too, Ma'am," Tobi suggested. "It clears the sinuses."

He knew THAT from experience from every time his mother forced it on him. Her own mint and sage blend with honey and lemon. Not his favourite remedy, but blast it, if it didn't work.

Grateful for her students' showing of sympathy and compassion, she assured them, "Dank you bery much for your concern. I'b sure I'll be ok for the lesson and I'll go get sub right after we con-con-con-achoo! Conclude. Now, why don't you all grab a seat and we'll get started."

Standing up from her chair slowly to avoid lightheadedness, Professor Shackleton walked around to the front of her desk and perched herself atop it. Dragging her tissues across the desk to her side, Professor Shackleton began, "Today we're goig to be continuigg our study of Names by the Number with the Cornerstone and Capstone. Who can tell me what inforbation the Cornerstone provides?"

This lesson was going to take a lot of extra concentrating. It sure wasn't easy understanding what Miss Shackleton was saying. He got the gist enough to give it a try though, and raised his hand in the air. "The Cornerstone tells us about our character, right?" He tried, glad he'd had a quick look at the tetbook before the lesson. "Like, it tells us how we approach obstacles and opportunities and .. stuff. "

Okay. If Shackleton said she'd get to it later, then it should be just allergies and nothing serious like last term. Hmm. Evangeline still wondered what had happened last term, actually.

But moving on. It was question time!

Raising her hand, the sixth year replied. "The cornerstone suggests what one's character might be ... like, the way one deals with obstacles. It's given by the first letter or our given name at birth.." Hers would be E! Weee!

The Cornerstone is the first letter of your first name at birth. It provides a suggestion of your
"It tells us about our character, particularly the manner in which you approach opportunities and obsticals. You find it from your first letter of your name, mine woukd be B" said Barry hand raised.

Oh, okay, no more health talk, Arithmancy time!

Tobi tried to remember and raised his hand, "Um, it gives you a peak at what people's characters are like, right? Like how they deal with adversity and stuff like that right?"

He really couldn't remember. He dug out his text book, which he had left in his bag in all the broohahah of discussing the Professor's allergies.

Shifting her position, Macadrian inquired, "How do we find the Cornerstone within our nabes?"

"It's easy peasy, Miss." Clifford started, throwing his hand back up in the air. "All it is, is the first letter of your first name. My name is Clifford," DUH! "so my letter would be C!"
