The Homework Maze

You enter the room with your partner. Suddenly the lights go out and you feel something strange, like magic and hear slight popping noises. When the lights come back on, you can no longer see the exit, the desks are gone and it appears the classroom got bigger, but you cant really tell because your in the middle of a maze! Your hear Professor Pierce's voice from... somewhere.

"Upper years, you are in the middle of a moderately complicated maze, your partner is on the outside with a map which has two dots on it, each representing one of you. There are several exits to my maze, your goal is to find the one your partner is standing at. The catch is, you must communicate silently. For example, if you come to a fork, send up the word 'Left?' or 'Right?' and your partner will respond with sparks, green for 'yes' and red for 'no'. When you find your partner, when you do, you may leave. Begin."

OOC: This is your homework. Points are given for creative RPing and success with the spells. After getting out of the maze, PM me your user name, user number, house and character name. If you dont have a partner, pretend you do. Though it will be easier to RP if you have someone to RP with, so try and find one Any further information on homework can be found in the Transfiguration Class Rules thread. Thank you.

Suddenly the lights go out and you hear Professor Pierce muttering a few spells. She didn't like being in the dark and she almost had a panic attack when the lights went out. She wasn't afraid of the dark , she was afraid of not knowing, and this maze that she found herself in was going to make her pass out. She didn't know where so was going and how fast to get there. She leaned against the wall of the maze to catch her breathe and calm down before she made herself pass out. She looked around the it felt like the walls of the maze were closing in on her and her breath was catching in her chest and she turned to throw up.

She wiped her mouth and frowned."Pull it together Greenwood," She stated to herself forcefully. She was not going to let this get to her.

She got herself pulled together, she threw her shoulders back and started down the maze. She took a few turns on her own just to see if she could make it through the maze without help, but she soon found herself walking around in circles as she ended up in the same spot as she started.

She hated asking for help, but she didn't want to spend 3 days stuck in this maze. 'Risona, right,'She sent up as a nonverbal. She got her wand when she was 6 years hold in Ghana so she had 5 years of wand work and instruction on her fellow 3rd years. She was more than capable of doing this simple nonverbal. A burst of green sparks was her reply and she turned right and picked up her pace.

Yellow? Now why would she send up yellow? Oh WOW! She knows it's a 3-way....and she's doing a traffic signal. Must be fairly well acquianted with Muggles. Most Excellent!

Qaz continued on straight ahead, until she had to turn either left or right? Once again, she pointed her wand up and said 'Risona' and as her ribbon shot in the air it spelled out Right?

As she waited for her partner to respond Vanessa twirled her hair around her fingers. This was definetly a good time for her to be scared of heights and not scared off enclosed spaces. That would be terrible, and she'd probably have spent more time, panicing then actually doing anything else.
She glanced as Heidi sent up green sparks. That meant it was right! Lowering her wand, down to her side again, the midget hufflepuff, began slowly moving right. These was a little better than she had first thought.
Well that was until she came to a fork in the maze. There were probably going to be plenty of these. Now she had to decide, where it would be left or right. Well it had be Right at the last fork, could it possibly be right again? That would be a little odd, but it was possible. She was going to try left though. Raising her wand, she silently cast Risonda, hoping that it would work without her saying. She smiled triumphantly to herself as she word "left?" was spelt out in ribbions above her head.

Heidi kept looking up, and when she saw the ribbon from Vanessa, she looked down at the map. Yes, she needed to go left. She raised her wand, mumbled Firsitan, and saw the sparks come from the tip of her wand. She looked down at the map, and Vanessa's dot was moving in the right direction. Heidi was so excited that they were working well. She noticed some of the other kids having trouble, and she was kind of glad that her and her partner weren't getting confused. Heidi looked at the map, and waited to see the ribbon in the air.

Jake looked down at his map and tryed to work it out. Liz had just totally back-tracked, and as far as Jake could tell, she should have gone right form where she'd been.

"So... if she goes left here, I can meet that path... dum de dum... laaa de daaaa... we're alllll in thiiiis together- FOCUS!" Jake snapped out of that stupid song mode as he shook his head, eyeing his wand.

Yes... we want left... green sparks...

Before anything, Jake pressed his ear against the magical wand of enchantment, but he wasn't quite sure what he was listening for. Ooh, maybe it was like one of them glowstick thingies, where you snapped it and shook it.

I am NOT snapping this! That nice lady at the wand shop would go all dragon on me!

Instead, Jake held the wand tightly, and away from himself, and shook it. Get the magic flowing and the splinters connecting and so on and so forth...

"Firsitan!" Jake yelled, directing his wand upwards, willing for his wand to get the message and "listen" to his brain.

He had done it. Ok, so the sparks were a little more on the Turquoise side, but it was better than brown, and they were still Slightly Green. And at least he said the word right and intentionally shot off the sparks. In fact, Jake felt quite proud of himself... until one last blast of the sparks blested him backwards.

So, his wand made one thing clear:

You ever shake me again, I'll blast you backwards and into the freakin' Lake... in winter.

Evil wand.

Liz looks up and spots a turqoise color shoot into the sky, then shortly after pale green. Ok, I guess he's having problems getting the green out...I go left, then. she thinks to herself.

Taking a left, she sees a long strip that curves off to the left, once around the curve, she spots 3 branches! Uh, oh...

Hmmm, let's see she thinks. "Risona" 'red for right, green for left, and blue for middle.' she says with a swish of her wand.

Uttering 'Risona' again, another ribbon shot up into the air - this one was black and formed the words, 'Left?' since he had arrived at his first fork...

Twilight looked at her map and then she thought, 'o dear what was yes and no or was it right or left?'

"Well here it goes", she whispered," Firsitan and green." She concentrated real hard and hoped he would see it.

As Vanessa waited for Heidi's reply, she looked around at the maze, well the bit she could see from here. She decided that she'd be very glad to get out of here, and she kind of hoped that it would be soon. It was starting to scare her a little. What would happen if she got lost? She'd be stuck in the maze foreverrr. Okay maybe she was slightly over exaggarting a little. Sure she couldn't get thaat lost.
Green sparks in the air, jolted her out of her thoughts. The color of the sparks meant that her guess had been right. And she indeed needed to go left. Taking a deep breath in, Vanessa continued along the path, away from the fork in the left direction, hoping, or maybe praying, that she would be getting near an exit, and she could finally get out.
She walked for about 3 to 4 minutes, finding it a little strange that she was walking for so long. She wasn't going deeper into the maze was she. But then she came to another fork. But she kind of recognised it, for there was a bunch of brances on the floor, where she'd fallen into the size of the maze. Had she been here already? Pointing her wand up in the air, she cast Risonda, silently twice. The first time the ribbons spelling right and the second time the ribbons spelling Haven't I been here before?

Now if he recalled correctly, then Dom was supposed to look for a green or red spark. Hopefully his partner would remember which was which, but he was sure the Professor had mentioned something about red meaning stop or no, whereas green was the go-ahead and yes.

Waiting for his decision as to whether he should go right or left, Dominic wondered how long this maze was even. It didn't seem like it was too crowded, unless others got out already? Or maybe they were all stuck in different areas? This weird nonetheless and hurt his brain to think of how complicated it was.

Then he saw it - Green light/sparks!! That meant his ribbon had been effective - wait, which way did he ask to go? Oh right, left.

Strolling to the left, the fifth year strolled along, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of life. Nothing. Ugh, hopefully he was going the right way? But she had said that left was the right way ... wait or did she mean yes to go right? Meh. Confusing antics.

Finally arrived at another fork in the path. Now which way? There were three choices this time - left, middle, or right? His instincts told him to keep going left, but something was tugging at him to go right. Waving his wand in the air, he sent up another ribbon:

'Right?'

Hmm No reply came.Shana looked at the map again oh no she had sent out the wrong color.She was soo stupid.She had to think quick,which for Shana wasn't that possible.That was acctually how she got to this problem in the first place.Ermm Well last time she sent Red so all she had to do was send Green.She hoped.So she started concerntrating.Firsitan! Shana said trying not too loose concerntration.And then started to think Green.

Twilight watched as she saw him move left on her map, actually to her right since she held the map with the exit facing her. "Okay according to this map he should go center and then right, but as I can only give green or red, I better go slow.' she thought.

She said "Firsitan" and then thought red. Crimson and red sparks shot up.

Camira had been waiting anxiously so she sagged with relief when she the sparks go up. Thank Merlin. She wasn't going to be stuck in here forever. Okay, so, first thing she needed to do was figure out which way to go.

She cast Risona, all the while thinking "Which way do I need to go?" Afterwards she realized she hadn't given the girl anyway to tell her. Nice one Yaxley, she thought. Okay, try that again. "Risona", she muttered quickly, concentrating on 'Red for Right, Blue for Left, Green for straight."

She could do this. She could get out of this thing.

Twilight watched intently for his answer. 'A logic question?' Then it dawned on hr that maybe he didn't know if they may use center a a word. 'After all the professor hadn't really said if it was allowed. How clever of him'

She cried out "Firsitan!" and though green. Loads of forest green and emerald green sparks shot out of her wand.

Camira was confused. There were sparks going up in every direction. How was she supposed to tell which one belonged to her partners? She saw blue sparks go up into the air and deeply hoped that was hers. If not, this left turn was going to be a death trap. Slow death via exposure. Or starvation. Ack!

She quickly turned left and took off at kind of a fast jog or slow run, depending on personal opinion. All that mattered is that she got out as fast as possible. And SMACK. Ouch. It was very obviously a wall. She shook her head a bit, trying to get rid of the spots in her vision and focus. Okay. It was either left or right.

"Risona" 'Silver for left, gold for right'. There. That ought to make it easier to pick out her sparks in the crowd.

Dom waited patiently as he heard cries of 'firstian' but wasn't sure if that was his partner until he saw the familiar green sparks that he recognized from the area that his partner was in. Oh yes! It was centered indeed, which means she did catch onto his little riddle after all; how exciting!

Walking along the pathway, via the centered the one, he wondered if it were going around in circles and how he knew where he was supposed to end up? It sure felt like he was going around in circles, but yet he felt as though he was getting closer to the outer edge of the maze. That was good - meant closer to the classroom door, hopefully.

Another crossroads he reached a "T" and looked both ways. Hmm? Which way now? He already went left and right of the left, so somehow he felt as though he needed to continue towards the right as he felt like that was where the exit was and the corridor.

Shooting up another ribbon with his 'risona' charm, this time it said,

'Right?'

Evangeline was desperately trying not to hyperventilate. She was LOST! Believe me, she knew she was going to die here. She had even touched the wall of maze infront of her, to check if it was only an hallucination, but nope .. it was solid ... it was real. She was stuck in here forever. Unless, of course, Shana answered her appeal.

Oh and she had! YAY!

But wait ... Green. Green? What did green sparks mean? What did 'yes' mean? Hmmmm. After taking a deep breath to calm herself, she swished her wand upwards, thinking about the question she wanted to make. 'Do you want me to go back and turn right?'

Twilight cried out again "Firsitan" and thought green and the same emerald and forest green sparks shot up. She glanced at the map and was happy to see that he was closer to her now.

Ruby was waiting for the next ribbon her mind wandered to John another part of her brain was telling her to concentraite and earn valuble points for Slytherin but she couldn't help it, she was think in about that sweet Hufflepuff.

After a few minites she saw the same ribbon appear in the air she read it half heartedly and skimmed the letters she repeated in her head Silver left gold Right she looked at the map and saw that her partner had to go right she wasn't concetrating properly and said "Firsitan" and bright yellow sparks came out after realising her mistake Ruby quicky said "Firsitan" and sent a gold sparks up followed by "Firsitan" another lot of gold sparks so her partner got the message.

Ruby stood there with her mouth open she was going to be in trouble if that was another Slytherin she just realised

Unfortunately the Professor had made the maze challenging for even shorter people, since even from his tall height of five foot ten, he still was unable to see over the walls of the maze. He could just imagine how frustrating that would be for shorter students, but then figured that's why she had the younger students with the map. At least then they could see their partner...

Oh right, he was losing focus. At least until he saw the green sparks again and a smile formed slightly on his lips. He was getting closer and he could feel it.

Turning right at the 'T', the fifth year continued walking along the path and saw a dead end up ahead, as well as where the path turned right again. It seemed to be winding down close and there was no need to call up as the path didn't split yet - at least not for another 50 meters or so. Arriving at the split, he glanced carefully both ways, surveying them before swishing his wand to send up another ribbon with his decision.

'Right again?'

Ruby was waiting for the next ribbon her mind wandered to John another part of her brain was telling her to concentraite and earn valuble points for Slytherin but she couldn't help it, she was think in about that sweet Hufflepuff.

After a few minites she saw the same ribbon appear in the air she read it half heartedly and skimmed the letters she repeated in her head Silver left gold Right she looked at the map and saw that her partner had to go right she wasn't concetrating properly and said "Firsitan" and bright yellow sparks came out after realising her mistake Ruby quicky said "Firsitan" and sent a gold sparks up followed by "Firsitan" another lot of gold sparks so her partner got the message.

Ruby stood there with her mouth open she was going to be in trouble if that was another Slytherin she just realised

Camira blinked as she saw yellow sparks pop up by the area where her partner seemed to be. But it couldn't be. They were neither gold or silver. Erm...

Ooooh wait. There were the gold ones. She needed to go right. And then more gold ones. What did that mean? Oooh, maybe her partner was thinking ahead and she had to go right next time too. That made sense. She turned right, continuing her jog. When she came to a cross type pathway where she could go right, left, or center, she went right again, feeling a bit better about this assignment.

Oh no. She had run and run and now this. A dead end. Completely dead. She had have a mind to blast it to pieces, but she didn't want to fail this assignment. Or get detention. So rather, in her frustration, she kicked it. Stupid dead end!

She shook of this sense of doom she'd started feeling and ran backtracked. It felt like forever, but she finally made it back to the cross like pathways. Now, to find out which way to go. She shot up her ribbon once more. "Risona". 'Gold Left, Silver Right, Aquamarine Other" That ought to do it.

Oh right, he was losing focus. At least until he saw the green sparks again and a smile formed slightly on his lips. He was getting closer and he could feel it.

Turning right at the 'T', the fifth year continued walking along the path and saw a dead end up ahead, as well as where the path turned right again. It seemed to be winding down close and there was no need to call up as the path didn't split yet - at least not for another 50 meters or so. Arriving at the split, he glanced carefully both ways, surveying them before swishing his wand to send up another ribbon with his decision.

'Right again?'

Twilight peered at the map, he was now way down to her left she carefully looked at the map again. Here is seemed to be smudged and it was hard to tell which way was the right way. She was just a beginner and had no clue how to make the ink darker. So she followed both paths to see where they went. Well the right one seemed to go further away and end up in nowhere.

Twilight cried out again "Firsitan" and thought red. Crimson and burgundy sparks shot up this time. O she so hoped she was right.

Melanie looked eagerly down at the map. This was actually kinda fun, especially for homework. She practically beamed. The little blue dot had gone the correct way yet again.

She wanted to know whether she should go right or left... hmmm well she was closest to the exit on the left. There was a dead end on the right. So that means.... red sparks!

"Firsitan." she said, careful not to trip over her word. She had practically perfected the spell by now, and out came a stream of red sparks.

Ruby stood there watching the map and watched her parter take another right turn? oh no Ruby thought she quicky found the way out though if she kept her mind off John Moiser EEP there he was again she was going to be having strong words with him when she was finished.

she was looking for her partners ribbon again and the whole time hoping that she had a nice partner who would understand her silly little mind, she spotted the ribbon and took another look at the map, her partner had to go......left? right? no definitly left yep left, she said while thinking of gold "Firsitan" and sent up gold sparks.

she wished she could make sure her partner wasn't hurt EEP she was in trouble now all because of John EEP there she went again......
