Kapoor's Office

Attached to the door of the office Professor Kapoor is the following poster, thanks to the quick spellwork and brilliant mind of his dear friend, Ian Michael Ashby:



The office of one, David C. Kapoor is a study in organized clutter. Parchments here, crystal balls there, and an assortment of specified objects whose functions are too exotic to mention occupy the glass shelves of an ornate bric-a-brac cabinet. The Professors large teak desk, which is littered with withered old books on floromancy and cut flowers, is shoved off catty-corner against a wall. Before it, a somewhat circular collection of imported silk pillows. Behind the pillow arangement, off to the side and away from immediate view is an animated painting mounted flatly onto the wall depicting a multi-armed diety whose hands hold a musical instrument and a thread of crystal beads, which billowed along with the dietys' dark hair whenever a light gust could be detected. Accompanying the diety was a vivid peacock, whose tail feathers tucked behind a wooden bookcase, by far the largest and most loaded furnishing in the office. Hanging from a sun-drenched window is a swagged arrangment of crystals, which paint the nearby wall with vivid little spectrums.

Although there are many colourful and exotic objects to catch your eye scattered about, each is compressed to what seems to be, its' own designated place. In other words, although it looks a mess, the office has indeed been tidied-up.

Chris knocked on the door of the Divination Professor's office a little nervously. He had never met face-to-face to this professor outside of the classroom. He had to tell him about his gift seeing as he is the teacher of Divination. He knocked and waited for a reply.

Huh. Interesting. This wasn't the way Prof. Kapoor had the entrance to his office. There were no chairs to wait for him. Which could easily mean that the waiting was not too much. Or not as long as it was before.

Kaika knocked on the door and waited for the Professor to answer. Hopefully he will be in his office, and not lost around the Castle. No, the Potions Professor was the one that used to get lost, right? Yeah, Kaika wasn't sure about that anymore, but didn't honestly cared. It was about Professors that she wanted to talk about, either way.

She waited silently until it was her turn, unless Prof. Kapoor wasn't around, a thing she doubted, because there wasn't a note or anything saying so.

Lasca knocked lightly on the door. She opened it slightly and poked her head in. "Excuse me. I am here trying to speak to the Divination Professor." After he letter had arrive from her Papa she had decided to talk to someone who might know about her odd gifts.

She was hoping he might be able to help her gain better control of them, never hurt to ask. Scanning the room she didn't immediately see anyone. Lasca found a decent spot on the floor, as there were no chairs and spun into a lady like position on the floor. She would wait for him to return and then speak with him. Hopefully he had some answers for the young Ravenclaw.

Divination. It didn't hold as much interest for him as Care of Magical Creatures, but it sure did fascinate him and he was pretty good at it too! He was struggling to carry each of his heavy books, (the five of them that he was clutching in his hands) as he stumbled towards Professor Kapoor's office. Perhaps he could help him have a hope of passing end of year exams. Shifting the thick books so that he had a better grasp, he reached out and knocked on the door. Was anyone in? He really did want to speak to the Professor.

"Hellooo?" Hugo asked, waiting patiently.

Kapoor was about to address the students, one of them being the charming Miss Lockheart, to see which of them would like to go first, when one wiggled into the office and began to make herself comfortable. "Divinations Professor? That would be me. And, I will speak with you all, but ...in turn?"

Turning his attention to the students waiting in or around his office he asked them. "Alright. Which of you would like to go first?".

Blushing furiously the young Ravenclaw stood up and gave a deep curtsy. "I apologize if I offended you. I will wait and go last as all of the other students were here before me." She bowed her head and continued to stand. Where had her manners gone to? Sighing she glanced up at the professor to gage his reaction, sincerely hoping her wasn't too upset with her show of bad manners.

The idea of over-eagerness offending him made the Divination Professor laugh a bit. For the most part he was fairly patient. Kooky. But patient.
"Not to worry, my dear. You haven't offened me at all. The only time I have ever been offended by a students behaviour is when they interupt another students' opportunity to learn. Which is, afterall, why we are here."

"Why don't you stay, since you're already in the office and I shall see you first. You don't look familiar. Are you a new student?" He asked her about to shut the door behind him, but addressing the rest of the students first. "We'll only be a minute or two. Please make yourselves comfortable in the meantime."

Nodding she gave another curtsy and then straightened back up. "Yes professor. I am a first year. Lasca Romanov, it is a pleasure."

"Well, welcome to Hogwarts. I see you got sorted Ravenclaw. That just so happens to be my old house." The Professor spoke with a quick and convivial tone. "So, what brings you to my office, Miss Romanov?"

Smiling at the Professors comment, she nodded her head. Taking a deep breath she thought over how best to pose her question. Start from the beginning.

"Well professor. My mother was a talented seer, she died two years after I was born. It seems that she passed on her talent to me and I was wondering...Since your the Divination professor if you could help me learn to control my...gift." The young Ravenclaw didn't have any better word for it. Her Papa thought it better to treat it as if it didn't exist but to her it did. She couldn't look at a person without seeing things. It was very real, and very out of control.

All that she could hope for was that the Professor would be able to help her.

"That talent often runs in families, and I've seen many grades of it in my years. Do you happen to know the nature of your mother's talent? It's probably a likely shot that your abilities will run similar to hers."

Nodding her head she thought back to what little her Papa had told her. "My mother could see a persons aspirations and look into their futures. She could tell them which paths that they needed to take to obtain their goals. I believe she could also see peoples personalities. I can see personalities. It appears as a coloring around the person and I believe that I can also discern their moods as well. I have only had three visions to date. Each stronger and clearer then the last."

She couldn't tell ther professor much more then that. Her Papa didn't like to talk about it so she was left to speculate.

Kapoor listened carefully as Lasca explained the mother's abilities.

"It sounds as if she was highly empathetic and could detect the prescence of auras." He smiled, looking almost relieved. "In which case you're lucky. It is much easier to direct, that is control, we cannot repress the ability without dangerous consequence, this ability than it is to direct purely clairvoyant gifts." And, if he was right, he was glad. It could be quite over-bearing for a person to witness the lack of control for their abilities.

"When do you find that you tend to experience this ability? At night? Or perhaps during the light hours? And, were your visions predictive and if so, accurate?" He stopped realizing he must've sounded like some busy-body from the Prophet. "I'm sorry to bombared you. It's just that, it's very important to know these things in order to give any sort of advice that might be useful."

She gave her answer some immense thought. "I can see these 'auras' all the time. My visions if that is what you are refering to have been quite accurate if not cryptic. My last vision came a week before school. It was the day before I was to venture to Diagon Alley to purchase my school supplies." She frowned slightly trying to remember. "The hour was late and I was writing to my Papa, when I suddenly saw a flock of owls. The creatures were everywhere swirling all around the room. One broke off from the rest, her was large and obsidian in color with large grey eyes. He landed on the edge of the desk and nuzzled my hand affectionately. Then he grabbed the letter and flew out the window." She sighed it had been a terrifying experience at the time.

"The next day I saw that very bird in Eylops Owl Emporium. He flew to me and well I had a crazy notion to purchase the animal." She didn't know if any of that had made any sense, she had explained it to the best of her ability.

"And, that was one of the three that proved to be accurate?" The Professor thought about the things she described. A black owl. "It is interesting that it is an owl for reasons more than the obvious as many Native American tribes regard the owl as a protective entity." A thought occured to him and he moved over to his desk and pulled out a deep drawer. Drawing out a blue and bronze detailed leatherbound journal, which wrapped and tied, he quickly thumbed through it.

"If you haven't already got one, please accept this as a gift. You can record any strange dreams or visions you might have. It will help you keep track of their accuracy as well as help you determine symbolic meanings." He said, offering her the journal, which had upon it one page of written Hindi script. "Sorry about the writting. It is a very old booklet. But, it is well-made. Why don't we start with that and see how it goes? That way we can get a more accurate gauge of just how intense and often your abilities are and occur before we decide on a plan for how best to control them?" He offered.

Lasca gingerly accepted the journal. She loved books and the thoughts of having her own journal got her excited. She looked back at the Professor and nodded. "That sounds reasonable. Should I also record what I see of others personalities and moods?" She was happy to be getting some help. To have a person that understood and was willing to be of assistance was a blessing to the young girl.

"Yes. Anything that you experience that you think might be related to your abilities." Kapoor gave a nod, smiled glad that he seemed to help Lasca. "Well, I suppose that'll be all for now. Come back to my office when you feel you've got enough information recorded. I'd better let another student in." He said, getting to his feet again to get the door.

Lasca nodded and cradled the journal to her chest. Dipping into another cursty she looked back at the Professor. "Thank you Professor. It was a pleasure meeting you. Have a wonderful day." With that the young Ravenclaw exited the Divination classroom.

And the Huffie girl entered as soon as the Ravenclaw exited. She was still worried about a few things, but her mind had cleared up a bit...maybe the waiting actually helped.

"Hello Professor Kapoor!" she greeted, taking a few steps into the office, "How was your summer?" she asked, wondering how professors spent their summers. Though, it wouldn't have to be much different than the students one, since a few were seen around in Diagon Alley.

She took a seat and eyed the office for a while, "Professor, I have a question" indeed, she always had a question, "Well, not really a question, but I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about the new professors" he didn't fit into this category anymore.

So, it wasn't really a question, but she did want to know about them before speaking with them. If Prof. Kapoor actually knew something, of course.

Jessica had been quite busy since the beginning of the new term, but she finally found a few spare hours and decided to visit her favorite Professor. She went up to the towers and headed for the Divination classroom and Professor Kapoor's office.

She heard voices from inside and didn't want to disturb, so she waited by the door, after knocking once. Jess wondered if the professor still had that cute kneazle.

He took a seat in his favourite office chair and gave some thought to Kaika's open-ended question. "The new Professors? H'mm... Well, I could do my best, but admittedly, I'm just getting to know them myself. Was there anything specific you'd like to know about them?".

And she was smiling, "I'm so happy to hear that..." she said, entirely honest, "...though, I didn't know your wife was writing her memoirs...that must be quite...exciting and, well, a lot amount of work, right?" a lot of work, indeed. She was barely a fifteen year-old and was finding very hard to remember many things. Writing it wouldn't be much of an issue. The issue will be her own memory.

Oh! How nice! If only she was certain what exactly she wanted to know, but she decided to be more direct about it, "Well, I've been listening to a few rumors about some old..." no, that's not the word, "...I mean, more experienced Professor that one has to look out for..." since he docks points without a real reason, and is quite...well, tough on the students. Not that it wasn't great. Students still needed discipline. Just like it was needed in Quidditch.

She looked around before finishing her sentence, "...and, you do have a bit more insight...so, is there an actual professor someone might have to look out for?" she ended. Her face was very serious, she didn't want to say the wrong thing at the wrong place to the wrong person...or just the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Professor Kapoor listened carefully to Kaika, but he still managed to get lost in the semi-ambiguous meaning of the term 'look out for'. And, he took it to mean 'a wonderfully learned man from whom she would learn all there is to know about the defensice arts'. His miscontrument was helped by the fact that she also used it with the term 'more experienced'.

"Well." He began. "If Professor Kazimeriz is one that you are looking out for, I think you'll find Professors Morgan and Bunbury likewise worth keeping an eye on. Especially Professor Morgan. She kept snitches going back to a snitch sanctuary of some kind before she came to work for Hogwarts as I understand it." He said, that last part, not exactly clear as to whether or not Iliana Morgan kept the snitches safe while working for the sanctuary or kept them going back because of doing them some sort of harm. Truth be told, Professor Morgan was probably one of the sweetest teachers the school could ever ask for and the same could be said of Bunbury, if you followed her class rules.

Kazimeriz? Yeah, that sounded about right. But maybe Professor Kapoor didn't understand what she'd meant, or did he? She'll have to let it go, how was a student supposed to ask if a Professor was crazy enough, so one wouldn't be messing up with that particular Professor.

Maybe Kazimeriz was crazy enough, yet she didn't even know what subject he taught, nor the one called Morgan. Of course, Bunbury, she'd met that one in class, now, that one may have some issues, but all in all she was alright.

"Which subject do Prof. Kazimeriz and Prof. Morgan teach?" she asked, instead of going to every office it was easier to find out while she was in a Professor's office. Well, she still had to pay a visit to Vindictus, so, if Prof. Kapoor didn't know, Vindictus probably will.

"Wait, snitches? Huh. Interesting" she said, so that must mean she's the CoMC professor. Oh, yes, she was the CoMC professor, Mr. Masterson had told her to find her, the only thing was that he failed to mention the right name for her.
