Staff Table

[Cassirin]

The staff table sits on a dias at the front of the Great Hall. Lined with identical chairs, the table is set with heavy china in a flowery print and solid gold goblets. At the center of the table is an ornately carved chair that resembles a sort of medieval throne.

Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that some of the chairs of cushions, and some do not. Those that don't also seem to wobble as if one leg is just a bit too short.

Headmistress Rae was ready and waiting for the students as they filed in from their odd carriage rides up the hill and away from Hogwarts. She knew the girls were confused, and she was no less confused, but at least she'd had some time to get used to it. And at least she didn't have rules stating she wasn't allowed to owl her husband or visit the village when they needed to see each other.

She propped her head on her hand and stared forlornly at the Great Hall. She missed Hogwarts.

Laylee walked up to the Headmistress, shivering a bit with nerves. "Uh... Whats going on Professor? Where are the boys? Why is everything so different?" She asked, confused. She looked back as the room began to fill with all the other girls that had been in the carriages with her.
The staff table was as oddly redecorated as the House tables were. There was wierd, too pretty china on the table and the cushions were set out randomly...

Angela entered the Great Hall slowly, glancing around. Immediately, her expression twisted up in slight distaste. Goodness. This was not home. Not at all.

Glancing towards the staff table, she took note that she was not the first one present. Thank goodness for that.

Once she reached the table, she climbed onto the dias and settled into a chair.

"Hello, Headmistress." She greeted, attempting to smile. She supposed she should attempt to keep up some sort of positive facade; or at least one of tolerance. After all, she was supposed to be a role model for the students. It wouldn't do for them to see a disgruntled staff member.

A student approached the Headmistress at that moment, inquiring of the changes. Everything would be made clear soon, but she wondering how the students would take it.

Sophie graciously made her way through the Great Hall and nervously approached the staff table. She did not know they staff, but was very eager to meet them and start her new life as a professor. Sophie felt a little sad that there was no Hogwarts. She loved Hogwarts, but things always changed and she had to be happy.

The Great Hall looked beautiful, she started to glance around the tables, particularly the Gryffindor table, her old house.

ashley slowly made her way up to the table and cleared her throat.
"Uhh excuse me I'm new and I don't know where I'm suppose to go? can you help me' Ashley asked standing shyly on the spot

"You're not the only one who's is a first year and quite confused" Amanda said to the girl who was already at the Staff Table.

Laylee looked around at the teachers filling the table. She realized that she should probably just wait. She would find out soon.
Laylee waved shortly at them all and walked back to her table.
She sat down by herself, hopeing she could contact Chandan soon, even if those stupid rules would prevent her from doing so!

Ashley turned back to the table
"Yeah do we...Oh and why are the tables soooo.... well..... different like that one is all fancy that ones kind of normal and those two are really ...Splintery?" Ashley said looking from one to the other not so scared now just slightly angery at the lack of unorganization.

"That I do not know, but I think I'll head back to the Slytherin table, I'll find out what's going on eventually" Amanda said, heading back to the Slytherin table.

"Please take your seat at your house table until we can make some announcements," Rae responded in a weary voice. "All will be made clear shortly."

"Fine but I still want to know what is going on" Ashley said and stormed back to the Hufflepuff table.

Pulling her gaze from the students, she noticed a woman stepping up to the staff table. Ah! A new staff member.

Offering up a friendly smile, she leaned over in her direction. "Hello!" She greeted. "Madame Angela Kohan, librarian. And you are?"

Callie entered the hall, excited at the idea of actually being a professor. Half way down the aisle, she stopped and soaked it all in. "Well, not exactly Hogwarts as I had hoped, but I think I can manage to make myself at home all the same." she smiled.

As she made her way to the staff table, the butterflies began to churn in her stomach. This was a whole new experience for Callie and she really wanted to make an impression this term. With each step closer, she took a deep breath. "At least it's all girls. Callie told herself. "It will make for a much easier term. After all, girls are much more insightful . . . aren't they?"

Before she could answer herself Callie was at the table. She smiled at the other staff sitting at the table already. "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" she asked a woman who had been staring off at what appeared to be the Gryffindor table. Not waiting for an answer, Callie pulled the seat out and sat down anyway, neatly adjusting her turquoise robes as she did.

Looking down the table at the other Professors already assembled, Callie nodded to them and began to introduce herself, "Hello. I'm Calista Hawkins, the new Charms Professor. But please, call me Callie."

Following after the redhead, a short dark female took approached a chair, but seeing that it wobbled when she untucked it with her wand, she sneered disgustedly and moved to sit on a cushioned chair that didn't wobble. She bounced a bit as she settled into her seat and waited for the feast to begin. Turning a bit, she saw the Headmistress and two other Professors for the school. In a voice as high as Minnie Mouse on helium, she smiled sweetly, waved and greeted them.
"Hello, Ladies."

Steelsheen hears the Headmistress, then looks at the Slytherin table. "Oh God" she thought, "first the rules straight out of the Middle Ages, now the house my family has been dreading since the Middle Ages. Its all my worst fears realized."

Her feet felt like they were filled with lead and wont move, but she willed her way to approach the students in green and silver.

"Oh my oh my..." Michelle peered into the room, blinked once or twice, then smiled. "Oh, here it is!" How she had managed to get lost between the entrance and the Great Hall had to be beyond anyone, but she had certainly managed. She made her way up to the dias and took her seat, automatically taking one of the cushioned ones. "It's very nice here, don't you think?" she asked, smiling brightly to the others, completely oblivious to the dismay of the staff and most of the students.

Smile in place, hair as straight as it could be, and a graceful walk to boot, Miss Dion made her way up the Staff Table, venturing past the house tables. She smiled nicely at a few of the students along the way, but the majority of return glances were those of gloom. Actually, she thought one or two looks were somewhat similar to those that appeared when the world was thought to come to an end. Odd children...

Finally reaching the table, she started the almight search of finding a seat. One that didn't wobble and had a cushion. Oh, and one that didn't look like it was from the stone age was nice too. "Hello everyone," she said in her soft, french accent. She sent a smile up and down the table before taking a seat and allowing her eyes to gaze upon the crowd of students.

Linnea West had returned to Hogwarts...sort of. She remembered attending Hogwarts, and how the ministry interferred then. She hadn't particularly liked that. And now, she was on the opposing end of the students. At least the ministry had just cause this time! Students had actually been abducted! They couldn't allow that to happen again.

She did a cross between a run-jump-walk on her way to the staff table. She didn't want to set a bad precedent and appear too eager and happy to be here, but it was nice to be somewhere like her first home.

Taking a seat in one of the high-seated cushioned chairs (it always was difficult being short), she flipped her long red hair over her shoulder, and awaited the start of the feast, hands clasped in front of her.

"I'm Sophie Brooks, the Care of Magical Creatures Professor." Sophie said aloud, to the other ladies starting to take their places at the table.

Terpsichore waved at the blonde who entered and remarked, "It's not Hogwarts, but it's nice enough." She said, speaking honestly. Extending a dark hand towards the blonde-haired woman, she introduced herself. "Terpsichore St. Toussaint. I'll be teaching the girls Divination this term. What subject will you be teaching?"

Hearing what she thought was a Francophonic accent, or maybe it was just her ears playing tricks on her for being away from the Caribbean and Canada, she turned to her head to see a thin woman take a seat at the staff table.

"Hello!", she greeted the woman back in a high little voice. She wondered how the ladies felt about the school being Ministry run, but it was inapropriate to get into political talk this early on in the evening.

She noticed as a small red-head climbed onto a seat...with some level of difficulty and smiled and waved towards her.

Linnea waved back and gave a big smile. She had to admit to herself that she was probably too enthusiastic. Spending so many years out and among real people, she had lost the habit of concealing her feelings, maybe she should strive to accomplish that again. Maybe.

"I'm Linnea West, are you new too, or have you been teaching?"

Terpsichore nodded. "I've only taught as a part-time profession before this, but I found it really very rewarding. I'm happy to have the chance to be teaching more steadily now."

She gave her dangly earring a soft, but sudden twist. She stopped feeling them and had to reassure herself that they were there, even though they were a rather loud fashion piece the way they chandeliered to her shoulders.

"What about yourself? Have you ever taught before?". Looking at the petite red-head, she looked rather young.
