Runes Lesson Two

[Jolie]

*Professor Tari walked around her room, placing a 'Beginner's Guide To Name Translation' booklet at each desk. 'This is going to be an interesting lesson,' she thought to herself, hoping that this lesson will go as well as the last. After handing out all of today's materials, she walked over to her stool at the front of the room, sat down, and patiently waited for the students to arrive*

"Hello professor"
*sit down and pull out parchment and quilt...look at the booklet on the table*
"are we going to start learning Latin today professor?"
*thinking to self..ohh..this will be fun.Can't wait for class to begin*

[rookwood]

Rookwood enters the class and takes his seat. He looks at the proffessor with a bright smile on his face and waits paitently for the lesson to begion

[Jolie]

*Nodding as each student walked in and took their place, Professor Tari waited for the rest of her class to arrive.*

"Just a few more minutes and then we'll begin."

oh! Hello Professor! sits down and takes out her quill and parchment:

Okay, it's time to get started! Homework submissions were excellent. I hope everyone remembered what they turned in, it'll be an important part of today's lesson.

*open parchment...dip quilt in the ink bottle...and getting ready to start writting*

Just out of curiosity, has anyone translated their name into another language before?

"Never thought I could."Bree says to the professor.

umm..yeah I have translated my name in Hindi (Indian language).

[Poirot]

"Well, my friend Nikki translated my name to Hindi," RJ said.

"don't think I could do it"

It's a fairly simple process as long as you have the meaning of your name and a dictionary of the language you are going to translate your name into.

We'll do a basic name translation into the language used in runes today, just as an example. As we move further along into the course, we'll be translating full sentences and simple spells.

Does anyone have any questions before we begin?

"Um.. nothing professor," RJ said.

Now, if you would turn to page 3 in your handout, there is a list of meanings associated with a few Runish names with similar meanings. You can choose one from the list as your new Runish name. If yours is not listed, let me know and I can look it up for you.

The meanings will not always be exact. You might have to pick something similar to your name. If you still cannot find it, let me know and I'll look it up for you.

"Well my name is Ron and... (looked throught the names) ... Romeli is the closest one," he muutered.

Bree looked in the book her really name, Brielle, which meant Exalted Goddess, wasn't in there. She decided to go with Princess the closet thing to goddess.Liante would be fine. She wondered if she should use her nickname tough. Not many people called her Brielle. Bree or Breeze is what she preferred.

Well Ron, we'll have to look it up together.

*walks over to Ron with a leather bound book, looking about 100 years old. Skimming through the pages, she thinks she may have found it.*

Well Ron, It says here that the meaning of your name is "Advisor to the king." A rough translation of Advisor is Ret and king is Ale. So your Runish name would be Retale.

[Poirot]

"Really Professor? Well I know the meaning of me name but I don't know that my Runish name is Retale," RJ said. "Thanks Professor." He wrote it in his notes.
