After a nice hot meal in the great hall you get your plant textbooks and pull on your work robes in your respective common rooms before you head out of the castle and down to the greenhouses. On this wednesday in the beginning of december a storm has taken Hogwarts in its grip, bringing heavy rain and wind and even the occasional snow flake to your short walk down to your herbology lesson since that hasn’t been cancelled. Stepping out into the rain and wind you will by the time you enter greenhouse two probably be wet, cold and a little winded.
Luckily for everyone is that the greenhouse is quite warm when you enter, but there is no visible plant insight. What you can see though are your clean student workstation/tables that are spread out two and two together facing the front of the greenhouse where the professor desk is situated next to the blackboard. On the professor desk you can see a large assortment of gardening tools ranging from big ceramic pots to shearers and fertilizer bags that look like they’ve been thrown on there haphazardly.
On the blackboard a message is written "Hang your wet clothes on the hangers by the door. Find an empty work station. Class will begin shortly!"
Professor Wishart himself can be seen leaning against his desk, perusing a plant magazine as he waits for the students to start arriving.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Dorian blew his nose in the handkerchief as he reached the greenhouse. Drops of rain water fell down from his hair and on to the ground as he ran a hand through his wet hair. He sniffed his nose loudly as he entered the room and then proceeded to breathe through his mouth. because it was the only way he could breathe at the moment.
At first, the fourth year thought he had made a mistake in the location of the Herbology lesson as he saw no plants. But when he saw the Professor near his desk he let out a breath of relief. Which turned into a loud cough as he took off his wet robe and placed it on the hanger of the door.
"Good day Profes---" another coughing fit escaped him and his eyes started to water up as even a sneeze came. "--sor Wishart" he said. "Why no plants? This is Herbology right?" just asking cause he wasn't even sure he was here.

Wet.
Rylee was very much wet by the time she reached Greenhouse 2 after lunch. It seemed the rain had begun to fall harder when she got outside because within moments she was soaked through and through. It was honestly dreadful and she couldn't be happier when she stepped foot inside the warm greenhouse.
Removing her wet robes and quickly hanging them on a hanger by the door she moved further into the greenhouse taking note that there was no plants at all inside. Strange. "Good afternoon, Professor." Rylee smiled softly moving to stand behind an empty workstation. "Hey, Dorian... are you alright? Have you been to the Healer?" she asked quietly having heard him coughing when she entered the greenhouse.
Pulling out her wand she cast a quiet drying charm on herself and smoothed out her uniform and hair. "Want me to cast a drying charm on you too?" she whispered to Dorian, maybe it would help him feel a little better?

The thought that less than a month from now she'll be in Australia with Théo was what kept her going as Sylvie trudged through the storm towards the greenhouses. At least they'd just had lunch, so she was fully and in relatively good spirits after food. Then again, this was always the worst time to have class, because once the warmth settled in she'd be super drowsy. Not that it had mattered before, but this year all the professors were out to get them and honestly, the sixth year would be happy to not spend an evening in detention for once.
Stepping into the greenhouse, she breathed a sigh of relief. Cold, wet and winded was exactly what she was. Those bloody heat spells never get any easier to do. Peeling off layers, she hung her things as per instructed then moved away from the sick Ravenclaw because no thank you, she had a holiday she needed to get to. "Afternoon, professor," Sylvie nodded towards Wishart and took a seat...
... before promptly getting right back up again. Ugh, these RULES. UGH. Curse you, Scumgeour.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Finding a working station, Dorian stood behind it and he sniffled his nose as he saw Rylee entering the room. Awww she had called him Dorian! Was she worried about him cause it wasn't often she used his real name. "And walk around for hours with steam coming out of my ears?" he asked. "No thanks"
He watched as she performed the hot air charm on herself and he felt stupid of not having thought of that in the first place. He shook his head no at her offer though and took his acacia wand out himself. "I got this" he said confidently but as he began the complicated wand movement, he sneezed and messed it up.
At first, he didn't think anything had happened until he saw that the bottom of his robe was...smoking slightly. EEEEK!

Chase entered Greenhouse 2 to find a very peculiar situation. Most of the class seemed normal. Professor was there and all and a few students. He used a hot air charm to dry off his poor drenched robes. They would most likely catch a cold if they didn't. "Hello Professor," he said with a nod of his head and then turned his attention to the peculiar situation. His fellow housemate, Rylee, was standing near a Ravenclaw who was in his year (Dorian). Then he saw smoke.. He blinked his eyes, trying to determine whether what he saw was accurate or not. It just seemed so strange. Random puffs of smoke with nothing....
"Are you two alright?" He glanced down and his eyes widened when he saw the source of the smoking. "Your robe..." The only spell he knew to get rid of the smoke would be the Ventus Jinx but he didn't want to hurt a fellow peer... They could open a window, he supposed? He turned his gaze over there.. Perhaps not, he thought. It was still storming outside.

It was COLD and WET.
And it was right after lunch and Natalie wanted a nap. Though she probably wouldn't be able to nap being cold and soaking wet. This storm over Hogwarts was making things even more gloomy than they had been recently and to be QUITE honest, Natalie just wasn't really feeling it today.
With a HUGE shiver, Natalie entered the greenhouse, pleased to to find that it was nice and warm, but... confused to find it empty of plants. Well. How interesting. Perhaps they were invisible plants...
She knew better than to ask questions, though. They would soon find out, wouldn't they? Letting out a sigh and another shiver, Natalie hung up her coat by the door and went to an empty work station somewhat near the front. "Afternoon, Professor," she said as a greeting. Then she rubbed her hands together to try and get some warmth back into her fingers and waited, still on her feet. See, the rules sucked, but it was possible to get used to them.
She almost didn't come to class. She was tired and the weather outside wasn't helping. It was sleeping weather and it was an indication of a long winter to be. The cold sleet like mixture clung to her coat, hat, and scarf. She had her hands buried deep into her pockets but it didn't help much. By time she made it down to the greenhouse she wanted to drop then and there into a nap.
Kaitlynn shrugged out of her wet clothing and hung it up by the door. The warmth inside felt great but also made her even more ready for sleep. She looked around the greenhouse and it took her a moment to realize that there wasn't any plants in the greenhouse. Like...a really long moment. When she realized what she was seeing, or not seeing in this case, she shrugged it off internally. "Hello Professor," she said stifling a yawn before taking her place at an empty work station....standing until being told to sit. Just thinking of it put her in an off mood.

He didn't mind the wind and rain. In fact, he found it quite therapeutic at times. That was when he was INSIDE though. Trudging down to Herbology in this weather was far from therapeutic and so it was a bit of a grumpy Max that made his way into the greenhouse.
He hung up his wet cloak and shook his wet hair like a dog before glancing around for a spare seat. There was Natalie...... but he'd noticed that she had a new habit of teasing him in class recently so nope, he wasn't sitting there today.
Instead, he chose the workstation next to Sylvie. Was she good at Herbology? He didn't know but he HOPED she was because he certainly wasn't.
Max chose not to sit or greet the Professor because these days that seemed like the easiest option.

Lucas...... didn't like this. At all. Nope.
It was close to 1pm and he had a lesson to go to and he knew that but, as he stood by the doors in the Entrance Hall and looked out at the storm, he..... couldn't. He didn't want to. Did Wishart see the storm? It looked horrible and he didn't even have an umbrella on him! There was no time to run back upstairs so...... there was only one thing for it.
He took a deep breath and stepped outside.
And immediately regretted it.
It was cold, yes, and he knew that when he was standing by the doors but as soon as the rain hit him, he felt even colder. And he had to walk in this? He crossed his arms and bowed his head and started walking as quickly as he could. It wasn't quick enough because within seconds, he was soaked to the skin and he didn't like it one bit.
Reaching the greenhouse, Lucas headed inside and shivered, even though it was warmer in here. He took off his wet outer robes, silently glad to take them off, and hung them up on the hanger as best as he could before going over to an empty workstation. Looking around, he couldn't help but notice that...... there were no plants here? Uh, this WAS Herbology, right? He hadn't walked into something else, had he? His eyes found Wishart, who was reading a magazine, and he simply said, "Hello Professor."
Something else he noticed was that it..... felt nice in here but he couldn't help but feel a little cold as well. Because his inner robes were still wet and so were his trousers and his face and his hair. He was shivering slightly and tried to rub his hands to warm himself up but..... his mind was on his hair. Did they know what happened to his hair when it was drying? It went POOF!
Not disappear, but POOF. BIG. Big old curls and frizzy hair.

The only thing Jessa found stranger than a class not being cancelled in a storm was her classmates showing up to that class soaking wet. There were water repellant charms and what’s more, spells to transfigure things into umbrellas and raincoats. The fact that despite these options everyone thus far decided to walk in the horrendously cold rain was mind blowing to the Ravenclaw who, herself, had cast an impervius charm on herself and her clothes and topped it off with a warming charm to fend off the cold on the walk over.
Calmly, with a level of detached interest, Jessa entered the greenhouse. She’d heard the man instruct them to hang their robes but as she was perfectly dry, there was no need.
“Good afternoon, Professor. Wouldn’t it be better to have the students cast drying charms than have them remove a piece of their uniform? I don’t mean to contradict....just....after everything,” with Astronomy and rulebreaking and POOR MR. KENNEDY and all that anxiety she had to go through, the girl would rather avoid a repeat. “I assumed it would be better to have the students following the rules and such so no one has to report anything and we can all get through the lesson with our nerves in tact.” Just saying. The rule was clear; be in full uniform when outside of the Common Room. Jessa didn’t think Scrimgeour would tolerate this bit of rule breaking when the solution was as simple as a charm to get things dry and wearable.
Finding her work station, she didn’t make any comments on the absence of the plants but she did look to the first year who’d already gotten himself some recognition in just about every lesson (Lucas). Not the right kind either. “Would you like me to get you dry? It’ll only take a few seconds.” And he lowkey looked uncomfortable.

The weather was just miserable, and Chloe figured she could wring enough water out of her cloak to take care of an entire greenhouse. Well, assuming there were plants growing in the greenhouse, which, in this case... maybe she could just wring out a puddle on the floor and drown in it. Either way, she was cold and wet and so so so grateful for the warm greenhouse to dry her out.
"Good day, Professor," Chloe grabbed a station near Jessa and wiggled her fingers at the professor and then at the Head Girl. It was nice to see Jessa in class... hopefully she'd stick this one out.
Juniper headed down to the greenhouses, through the rain and wind. Armed with an Umbrella and a water repellent spell as she headed down toward the greenhouses. Why hadn’t the lesson but canceled in weather, or at the least moved to somewhere else. Sure it was herbology, and you kind of needed to be in the greenhouse for a lesson like that.
Shaking off the umbrella and sitting it right by the greenhouse door, as she headed into the greenhouse. Greeting the professor. ”Hello professor.” Reading the blackboard after the greeting. She didn’t have any wet clothes due to her precautions she had taken before coming to class. But she did however go over to a workstation and reminded standing by it.

Daisy made her way to the greenhouses as quickly but as carefully as she could so that she wouldn't get drenched thanks to the wet weather. She really didn't want to catch a nasty cold. Luckily, she had somehow managed to keep herself dry. "Good afternoon, Professor," Daisy greeted the Herbology professor as she headed to a vacant workstation and stood there, awaiting permission to sit down.

It was only about halfway through the term and Archer was already OVER. IT. The stupid rules, which only served to suck the fun out of being in a giant castle away from the parents, were the main reason for this. So, it was with all the eagerness of a soaked cat that she made her way out to Greenhouse Two and the Herbology class that awaited, a rain poncho and umbrella doing their best to keep the rain/sleet/snow combo at bay. Only to be extremely irritated upon hearing the traitor Head Girl running her big mouth about the rules.
"The Headmaster can take his rules and shove them for all I care," was her comment on the matter, served while shaking out her umbrella, hanging it on a hook by the door, removing her poncho and doing the same. That done, she chose a workstation and promptly sat, propping her feet on the table after casting a cleaning charm the mud from the bottoms. And yes, she was aware of the rule on standing until told to sit. This was just her own form of protest. As was the phoenix now permently adorning the back of her coat and her uniform blazer, thanks to a sewing charm and some blue sequins dug up from......somewhere that may or may not have been the Room of Requirement
"Hey, professor," she greeted Professor Hot casually, as if she hadn't just broken several school rules.

Jessa returned Chloe’s wave, even adding a bit of finger wiggling silliness too—anything to dispel the little knots of anxiety that had begun following her to her lessons. It was good having a friend nearby in classes, made everything just a bit more bearable.
What she wasn’t expecting......was the address of the Hufflepuff girl over there. Jessa’s eyes widened and her mouth hung open in utter dumbfounded fashion for a few seconds before her mind caught up with the rest of her. Between the subtle hostility in her tone, and the actual words spoken, the Ravenclaw was shook.
When she did recover, both hands flew to her ears. “I didn’t hear that.” In fact, she was about two seconds from obliviating herself because like her stance back in that horror of an Astronomy class, she wasn’t trying to report. It’d been unfortunate that despite her best efforts to keep her nose out of it, the Headmaster had dragged her in, but this time nope. The Professor could handle that if he wanted, but she was gonna feign ignorance to the end. In the same vein, Jessa averted her gaze. Didn’t see the girl sitting before she was meant to either. Nope.
Jessa wasn't a rat but she did have obligations. This put her in the most awkward spot and the only solution she could come up with was not knowing. Couldn’t report what you didn’t know.

Hanna arrived to Herbology terribly anxious. The whole term was making her tremble. Looking over her shoulder all the time, mentally going through the seemingly THOUSANDS of rules before doing anything, just in case what she was about to do broke them. And she was feeling betrayed that the Professors were allowing subtle rule breaking. She was terrified of another kind Professor being fired, as well as herself getting detention. Or worse.
So there she was, dripping wet. But just as she was about to take off her outer coat, she heard Jessa speak. More rule breaking. Full uniform. 'Uniforms must be worn at all times outside of the common rooms.' She had memorised it. All of them. As she was sure other people had. Hanna kept her wet coat on, went to open her mouth to greet Professor Wishart, but clamped it shut again, with a despairing look on her face. Rule number 29382093572038: 'Upon arrival to class, all students are to remain standing, without speaking, until the lesson begins as a sign of respect.'
Hanna's shoulders dropped as she went to dump her belongings at an empty spot, where she stood silently. Willing her mind to go blank.

The full stomach that Ewan had did not help make the rain feel any less cold. Neither did lugging his books around in his backpack. In all honesty, eating food was the highlight of his day so far and this lesson would have to be pretty amazing to turn it around. Entering the greenhouse now, he couldn’t help but feel slightly better, the slight increase in temperature giving him Goosebumps.
Hanging his wet cloak on one of the many hangers by the door, he shuffled over to a spare work station and stood behind his desk, a slightly bored expression on his face. These rules seriously were getting ridiculous. With a small smile at Professor Wishhart, Ewan merely stood there, a glum expression on his face, waiting for the day to be over with.

Why, yes. Yes, she had called him Dorian. There was that rare occurrence in time that she happened to call him by his given name. This was one of those times. "Might be better than being unable to stop sneezing or coughing," she countered with a gentle smile. It was all a matter of how one looked at the situation. Granted he would look incredibly silly with steam coming out of his ears, just the thought alone was cause enough to make her giggle a little but at least he would be feeling much better now?
Smoke. Was that... Rylee's nose crinkled a little at the smell and she glanced at Dorian just as Chase joined them clearly noticing the smell too. "Are you alright? Do we need to ask the Professor for help?" She only knew of one charm that would make the smoke go away but she wasn't positive of her ability in casting it on a friends robes while he was them!

The loud sneezing coming from Dorian drew Joshua’s attention away from his plant magazine. He rolled up the magazine and put it down in a robe pocket before he looked over at the eagle and furrowed his brows slightly. "Good afternoon Dorian, have you had that cough checked out by Madame McMillan? It doesn’t sound good." Prof. Wishart was about to turn to look over his lesson notes one last time when Dorian’s question stopped him. Responding he smiled broadly to mask a laugh. "There are plant’s here Dorian. They are just kept behind the blackboard for now. They will be revealed in due time."

"Hey, professor," she greeted Professor Hot casually, as if she hadn't just broken several school rules.
Sterling Calrissan’s entrance into the greenhouse was not one of the quiter that afternoon. It was hard not to hear the badger’s less then respectful words about the Headmaster's rules or see how she sat down with her feet propped up on the table or the glitter like stuff on her uniform. Professor Wishart to a breath before he went over to stand in front of Calrissan’s workstation with a stern look and voice. "That is 15 points from Hufflepuff for your rule breaking and disrespectful words Ms Calrissian! If you don’t stand up right this minute as is protocol I will have no choice but to give you detention and deduct another 5 points. Wearing some type of glitter and jewllery on your clothes is contraband so I suggest you remove the sequins from your uniform after class Sterling or another staffer you run into might not be as considerate." Some students always had to push the bounderies.

Hanna's shoulders dropped as she went to dump her belongings at an empty spot, where she stood silently. Willing her mind to go blank.
Hanna’s entrance didn’t go unnoticed and neither did the sweet girl’s despairing look. Flashing a warm smile over in the eagle girl’s direction Professor Wishart greeted "Good afternoon Hanna!" But he didn’t expect a reply back. He just couldn’t not say something when she looked be so despairing.

Joshua turned his attention over to Ewan as he entered the greenhouse silently, hanging his coat by the door before finding an empty work station. He waved over at the eagle greeting him. "Afternoon Ewan!" Even though it was good that they followed the rules to the letter it was a bit weird to not be greeted.
After greeting each student Joshua headed back up to stand in front of his desk as the clock above the greenhouse turned one. Gazing out with a kind smile pursing his lips he said "Welcome everyone to this afternoon’s herbology class! You may now all sit down. I hope you’re all warm and dried up by now if not then I suggest that you as Jessa suggested and use the drying charm on your clothes. If you aren't comfortable with casting it then I'm sure one of the elder students can help you out." He said with a look over to the senior students in the room. He then waited an extra few moments to allow for every student to sit down before he continued.
"Today we’re going to be discussing a particular tree, but before I reveal which tree can someone explain what a decidious plant is and also give an example of such a decidious plant that they know of preferably magical but muggle works too. If you haven’t heard the term decidious then that’s perfectly all right. Just make a logical guess."
OOC: Lesson two is now started! You are of course welcome to jump in if you haven’t done so already. Just post as if your student has been there all along unless you want them to suffer IC consequences. Question 1 is simple just have your student give an explanation of what they think means by a decidious plant and give an example of a decidious plant if your students knows of any. All correct, wrong and quirky answers are accepted. Class will move on in roughly 24 hours @ around 7pm on tuesday night in Sweden time..
Bettie being now warm and dry enough sat down and when professor Wishart asked what was a deciduous plant and an example Bettie raised her hand. "A deciduous plant is on that sheds it's leaves in Autumn and one example is a Maple tree."

Nettie wasn't sure what to make of this professor. After Kennedy's very pubic firing in the courtyard, she was weary of all the new professors - and she was starting to formulate plans to start fighting back about these ridiculous rules. It had to be during lessons where the professors would really take note, however, and as far as Herbology went - she wasn't sure where he stood. She had to wait until she was in Divination, or Defense - then she would make a move.
So for now, she just focused on herbology and the plants. Which was boring but boring was a nice change nowadays.
She raised her hand. "Deciduous plants refer to plants that lose their leaves with the change of seasons. Like oak trees," she answered.

She looked at her cloak and then at Jessa. She knew this whole rule thing was taking a toll on everyone, especially the students who had to enforce the rules and especially after the whole thing with Professor Kennedy and the beverages which seemed to have put more stress on the students. Kaitlynn silently walked over and grabbed her wet cloak and just threw it on not caring if got dry magically or not. She just didn't want to be the cause of stress for anyone.
She plopped down on her seat when given permission. At least the cold water seeping into her shirt might keep her awake for a bit. Class began to move on and she forced her mind to focus and not wander off into day dream mode. Hand in the air, "A deciduous plant is one that loses it's leaves for part of the year like the Whomping Willow."

All thoughts about his hair were gone when the Head Girl came to sit down next to him.
The HEAD GIRL.
THE HEAD BOSS STUDENT PERSON.
Lucas was starstruck but also a little bit intimidated. Because she was the HEAD GIRL, you know? Had he mentioned that? And he didn't really....... know her in the proper sense so he felt a great need to act cooler than he actually was. Or, you know, make sure he didn't say anything very stupid or very weird that would make her think that he was anything...... bad. Yeah.
And she was TALKING to him? "...... Uh........." Oh Merlin. If he wasn't feeling cold right now, he was sure he'd have started sweating already. "I, uh, yeah. Yeah, that would be nice, thanks....." He..... didn't really know what to do? So, he sat there and held his arms out as wide as he could. In case it helped.
........
Oh? The Professor was talking? about..... ........ deciduous? Deciduous. DE-CI-DUOUS. Lucas..... didn't really know what that was because it sounded very fancy but he was listening to what the other students had to say. Someone mentioned something about the leaves turning orange and falling in the autumn time, which..... gave him an idea. Or, well, made him understand a lot better than the word did.
So he, kind of awkwardly, raised one arm a little higher than normal. Just to show that it WAS up in the air. "Honeysuckle is a de..... ci....." He shook his head. "Yeah, it's one of those. It's..... not a tree but it's an example!" So it counted, right?
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Jessa nodded obligingly at the professor, more than willing to help some of the others get dry if it meant them being able to keep their full uniform on. There was no telling when Scrimgeour would decide to drop by or when another Prefect would specifically scribble something into their diary and she was unwilling to deal with that.
If that meant helping the man find ways to keep the rules then she would. Starting with Lucas here. The boy’s antsy nature didn’t go unnoticed, but as she’d never been one to really go pointing out strange behaviour in others—bit too hypocritical for her taste—Jessa simply raised her wand and nonverbally got him dry. “There you go. Should be nice and toasty now.” Thanks largely to the charms the professor had put in place.
Was she surprised the Hufflepuff lost points and was threatened with a detention? No, but she was relieved. It wasn’t because she wanted the girl punished but because if the professor dealt with it then she wouldn’t have to. It was a relief not having to be that guy.
A little more relaxed, the Head Girl slipped into her seat ready for the lesson to begin. With several of her classmates already giving the definition, she felt an example would be more appropriate.
“Birch trees are deciduous as well.”
Across from her, she noticed one of the claw babies grabbing for her coat, but without getting it dried. She’d catch a cold. She’d be sick but not sick enough to excuse her from lessons and would have to suffer through them to avoid trouble. As far as she could help it, Jessa didn’t want that happening. “Kaitlyn, I can get you dry too.” Mostly for her own peace of mind so she wouldn’t worry about the girl’s health for the rest of the class.
It was the little things.
