Game Room

Looking for a bit of fun? Well, you've come to the right place! The game room is where you'll find shelves full of board and card games, both magical and muggle. There's a wizards chess set and a few decks of exploding snap and some magical playing cards. In the middle of the room is a Foosball table modified to simulate a game of quidditch. Just use your wand to guide the players where you want them to go!

Along the walls you'll see a pinball machine that, like the Foosball table is controlled by magic. There's also skee ball and a few videogames that used to be housed in the bistro. Happy playing, and remember: it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game! In accordance with Headmaster Scrimgeour's list of contraband items, the arcade games have been removed. In their place are some more educational alternatives. There are several boxes bearing runic symbols and locks with complicated numeric sequences to decode and unlock, as well as a spell trivia game. The wizards chess set and quidditch foosball table remain as a way to help you improve strategy and tactical thinking on the field and off.

OOC: The arcade games were removed in IC NOVEMBER . If you are on a timeline taking place before this, continue playing as normal.

Rylee needed a break.

Running every single morning, lessons, homework, her extracurricular activities and let's not forget the things she did just for herself didn't leave much free time.

Weekends were the two days during the week were she had Rylee time. A chance to kickback and relax. Let her mind wander and enjoy things non-lesson related.

What better way to do that than to check out the game room? Perhaps some of the games and things inside have changed from last term. Stepping into the room, Lamb her white Munchkin kitten following at her heels and wandering inside ahead of her to check out the room.

Chase decided to wander into the Game Room. He needed a break- not so much from extra curriculars himself (but he would need that in the months to come as the boy had the awful habit of OVER COMMITTING and DOUBLE BOOKING himself!) - but more so for his own sanity. He needed a break from his dormie's behaviour.... *cough cough* ... basically he needed a break from Beau's constant moping over Anna's promotion to Gryffndor Quidditch Captain. Chase wanted to talk to Marchand, their Head of House, about moving dorms but was unsure if any accommodation could be made at this point in time. He just struggled with how Beau constantly complained instead of taking action... it was starting to drive the fourth year mad!

Thus a break to the game room was well needed. As he stepped into the room, he spotted Rylee here as he eyed the various options. "Wanna play skeeball or a videogame, Rylee?" he offered with a quick smile.

Rylee had only been standing there a couple of minutes before a voice broke right through the silence. A soft smile tugged at her lips as she turned around to see who it was that was offering to play skeeball or videogames with her.

"Hey, Chase! Sure, either of those is fine with me." She rocked lightly on the heels of her feet, blue eyes drifting from the skeeball table to the videogames silently trying to decide which to go for first. "How about a game or two of skeeball and winner picks which videogame to play first?" A little friendly competition between housemates wasn't a bad thing.

"You're trying out for the team again this term, right?" That was if Headmaster grumpypants didn't take that away from them too.

Rylee's smile made Chase smile. Smiling was infectious. Heh. He nodded at her suggestion. "Sounds like a plan," he grinned and began walking over to the skeeball set up. Skeeball was a game that you didn't have to think too much about. There wasn't too much strategy. All you had to do was aim and make sure you used the right amount of force to get the ball into the correct location. Yes, yes... Wouldn't be too difficult, right? Shouldn't be....

He picked up his first ball and then bowled it before glancing at Rylee because of her question. "Yes, I'd like to try out again. Are you?" he asked with a hopeful grin. "I think it'd be great if we both ended up on the team again." He had really enjoyed being a member of the team. It had been a good way to get out of his comfort zone and meet different people. He wasn't best friends with a lot of the mates- save for Anna of course - but he had gained more comrades throughout the season and he was thankful for that.

Chase nodded as he listened to Rylee speak about Quidditch as an outlet. Yes, he would have to agree. Quidditch was a great outlet for built up frustration. Though he was curious to hear what kind of frustration she came across? Schoolwork? Personal drama? Stupid boys being stupid boys? The lion cub couldn't help but wonder. "What? Are a lot of boys just being silly around? I can talk to some of them if you'd like," he offered. Once in the fam, always in the fam. That's how Chase treated the majority of his housemates.... well except for one of his dormies but that was well--- complicated and heartbreaking in a sense.

As for who would try out.... "Zoryn, I'd imagine. She wouldn't let anyone get in between her and Quidditch except for acting perhaps... Abra? Theo perhaps? Beau is a wild card. He and Anna..... don't exactly see eye to eye." That was certainly putting it lightly as his dormie was EXTREMELY jealous of one of his closest mates. "I hope Beau tries out.... Who do you think will try out?"

Rylee picked up her first ball and rolled it down the little lane before turning her attention back onto Chase and it was a very good thing she had. His question taking her completely by surprise. "Boys? I hadn't mentioned any boys... wh-what makes you think this has anything to do with boys?" Right away she could feel a faint heat rise to her cheeks causing them to flush a light pink and she quickly looked away biting her lip. Oh, great, just great. His name wasn't even mentioned and it was already messing with her head. Now Chase was going to think this was about a boy when it hadn't been at all. Honestly she had been talking the changes of Professors and the Headmistress being fired and the new rules and S.O.R.E. .... Drew hadn't even been on her mind. Until now that is.

Nodding her head as Chase listed who he thought would tryout for the team, Rylee had to fully agree. "Zoryn for sure. She taught me everything I know about being a Beater." Zoryn Spinnet is the reason she is a Beater! "I would like to see Abra play for sure he's good too." Even if he was the reason she didn't get to be a Seeker but that was fine with her now, no more hard feelings. As for Theo she wasn't to sure but she liked him as a housemate. "Beau... I don't know. I know he's not fond of Anna. I spoke to her a bit and we came up with some really good ideas. I hope she uses some of them for the team this year even if I don't make the team." The ideas they had come up with together were really good.

Chase smirked to himself before laughter escaped his lips. Now that was cute. Rylee was all blushy and vehemently denying what he had suggested. He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "Oh it's nothing really.... I get drilled by Anna, Maeve, and Kam all the time. I've heard a lot about boys and crushes and those things messing with their heads..." That's what he got for being friends with mostly girls. He didn't mind it. Sometimes the whole crush thing got weird and awkward because he felt as if Maeve and Kam may like the same guy but... who knew? "I'm just kidding. It doesn't have to be a boy... It could be something else... like Mr. Grumpy Old Man.... Headmaster Darth Tyrannous?" he joked.

Chase stiffened at the mention of Beau and glanced down at his feet momentarily before picking up a ball. He paused momentarily. "Beau...." he spoke before chucking the ball along the ramp until it sunk into a 20.... Not what he wanted but his mind was distracted. "Yeah... I had a run in into him. You're right... He's not too fond of Anna. I think that's a shame because they're both good players." And they both are--- welll - were friends of him. Chase and Anna were still close. .... But him and Beau? He didn't know. He picked up another ball. "I hope he tries out because he loves Quidditch but then I also worry about potential arguments...."

Did the faint pinkness of her cheeks grow worse as Chase laughed? Why, yes, yes it did. If she could have faded away into nothingness right than and there she surely would have. Rylee quickly shook her head. Probably to quickly. "Don't worry I won't talk about it. There's nothing to talk about anyhow." The crush wasn't a mutual one and she was learning to work on her feelings. What Chase said next though made her laugh. "Headmaster Darth Tyrannous? I like that. Fits him nicely I think. He flipped this entire school onto it's head..."

"Mhmm. They are. There's a ton of really great plays in our house. I wish there was a better way for everyone to get to play." And no she didn't mean for there to be more reserves. She meant for them to actually be out there on the pitch. "There's always going to be hurt feelings. There's only so many spots and with so many amazing players... and all of us getting better and better each term it can't be easy to decide..." Being a Captain couldn't be easy at all.

"Oh? Nothing...?" he asked and then just nodded softly, deciding not to press the matter. It wasn't his place to do so anyway. If Rylee had a crush then that was great. Hopefully the person returned her feelings. "If only we had computers and access to photoshop, I'd make that into a meme and post it all around the school," smirked Chase proudly. He'd be willing to take detention for an act like that. It'd be worth it. He was sure that the previous Gryffindor Prefects would have done the same too.

He stayed silent for a minute and listened to her. Yes, Rylee was right again. Honestly he would have been disappointed if he had been made a Reserve player but then would have gotten over it eventually... "What if we did a rotation system or something?" he suggested with a smile. "Do you think that'd help resolve the whole 'hurt feelings' business?"

Rylee lifted her shoulders in a small shrug. It really wasn't worth dragging up all those feelings again when she was trying her best to move past them. "That would be hilarious! I would totally get behind you in helping with that," she laughed in agreement. At one time there had been computers but now that Professor Stewart was gone that had changed. "I bet a lot of others would enjoy that as well."

Picks up one of the balls and takes her turn, had almost forgotten they were even playing honestly. "I think it's a good idea and it couldn't hurt to at least try it but... I think no matter decision is made there's always going to be hurt feelings. Especially when it comes to the more seasoned players. They've been around the longest and are probably some of the best out there... there's no sure fire way to make everyone happy a hundred percent of the time."

"We can make it work... Maybe over holidays I can work on something for you?" he started before quickly adding, "So that everyone could enjoy!" He smiled. He would have to add this to his to-do list because the reactions would be priceless and well worth it given the dreary mood he was feeling from the castle.

He watched her throw a ball and then picked one up in his own hand. He held the ball in his hand and paused as he listened to her speak. He couldn't help but agree. It's nearly impossible to make everyone happy. "Yeah... You'll never make everyone happy... That's for sure.." he chuckled. "I suppose it works out as it should?"

"That would be awesome! If you're not to busy maybe we could meet up one day and create it together?" It was just an idea she was tossing out there. If he preferred to create the Headmaster Darth Tyrannous by himself that was cool by her as well. Seeing as to how it was his creation anyhow. "It would be super easy to make a bunch of copies too," she giggled just thinking about it!

Rylee nodded. "Everything always has a way of working out in the end... even if it's not how we want it to." It's how life was. Nothing was set in stone. If you wanted results you had to make them happen for yourself. "Quidditch is competitive. There's always room for improvement." Even when you were great there was still something that could be worked on.
