Zonko's Joke Shop

Long before the Weasleys opened their infamous shop in Diagon Alley, Zonko's was the premier wizarding joke shop in all of Britain. The outside of the shop is bright red, which purposefully makes the building stick out from the others located on High Street. Stop in to pick up all your prankster supplies and have fun, but be sure to tell the professors at Hogwarts you bought them elsewhere should you happen to be caught breaking the rules.

Vivid colours pop out to your eyes and sounds of all pitches fill your eyes upon entering the shop. Items on display are moving around and whizzing above your head, so keep a watchful eye out for things on the ground and above you. There are also large signs posted around the shop that say "BUY BEFORE YOU PRANK!" and "NO DUNGBOMB WARS INSIDE THE SHOP!" courtesy of the shopkeeper, who would be happy to assist you.

Patrick walked into the store looking around at everything taking in the fun stuff. He was surprised that the headmaster hadn’t tried to ban students from stopping in Zonkos for the trip. Although after reading some history books he thought it would be funny to pull some pranks like the Weasley twins did back in the day. Taking a glance around he shop again he looked over some items trying to decide if he should buy anything or not.

Skyler opened the door. When she got inside, she already saw Patrick there just looking around.
"Hey Patrick," she smiled trying to get his atbtention.

Maeve was a mission. To buy as many skiving snackboxes as she could afford, which sadly wasn't much. But if the plan to evade SOREs was to work, she needed more than just herself to take one. Perhaps she could convince her aunt to give her some more money, except while she adored the woman because family at last, she wasn't quite sure of her stance with the new Headmaster. She guessed that she wanted to keep her job, but did she really support him and all his rules? She was a former Gryffindor; weren't Gryffindors like natural for testing boundaries?

Glancing around Zonkos, her eyes widened at sight of two snakes, one with a badge. Why did she have to be such a magnet for badged individuals??? How was she supposed to get away with this without getting caught if all the student leaders knew of it? But then again, Jackson had seemed surprisingly with cool with it and Patrick was only a captain, which meant he probably didn't need to be as strict with the rule following, right? And they were friends too, weren't they?

"Patrick, hey, surprised to see you in here," Maeve said casually, figuring she'd see what he was up to before sharing her plan to see if she could get in on it. She nodded at the other girl, "Hey there, I'm Maeve, Maeve Walsh." At least she didn't think they had met before, but then again, it was super hard to keep track.

Skyler turned her attention to the new face. Sue smiled.
"I'm Skyler, it's nice to meet you," sje said walking inside the joke shop...

Stella walked into the joke shop and immediately started looking around the place. She knew that most to all of this was banned at school, but that didn't stop her from looking around the place. She wasn't a jokester or prankster by any means but she did find this type of stuff interesting. Phoenix wasn't lying, this stuff was pretty cool and neat. It was her first time in this village she was in awe by it and wanted to see everything.


Giggling at the various noises she ducked at the flying objects flying around the place, she didn't see what it was it flew by too quickly. Oh...well, it'll be back around she had a feeling that it would. Hm... how different was this from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes? Although she knew this was here way before that shop was even thought of. Walking around she kept looking around at all the fun stuff they had.

Patrick made eye contact with Maeve he remembered meeting her over the summer at the record shop in Diagon Alley. He watched her movements taking in her eyes. He tracked her movements before she made her way over toward him getting closer. He was distracted by Skyler his teammate walking up.

“Oh hey Skyler. How are you doing?” he asked making sure she got his full attention while he was talking to her. Just after answering her his attention was grabbed by Maeve. Why was she surprised to see him in there? Oh he supposedbit was because he was a student leader, but honestly he felt like being captain didn’t hold as much weight as prefect. “yeah just looking around seeing what cool things I might be able to take home come summer...” he trailed off.

Lookin around at all of the things making noises and moving he looked back at both of the girls, “and y’all? What are y’all looking for?”

"Danno. Never been in here before. Not even when mum and dad took me so.." Skyler trailed off.

Oceanus slipped in Zonko's Joke Shop from outside in hopes of ducking away from all the prying eyes of the professors. Having people watching his every move day in and day out was starting to become worrisome to the young boy. He wasn't one to deliberately break many rules but some of them were just ridiculous and he found himself breaking them without even meaning to.

Bright blue eyes moved around the entire shop, his feet moving on their own accord bringing him up and down the different aisles. It was just as he turned down another aisle, ducking as something wizzed by over his head that he spotted someone familiar to him. "Hey, Stella!" Oceanus called out walking towards his fellow first year. "Looking for anything particular in here?" Of all the shops here in Hogsmeade the joke shop wasn't one he would think of his friend to be in. She just didn't seem like much of a prankster to him but than again people could say the very same thing about him. So who really knew if she was or not.

[Granger Danger]

Hearing a familiar voice calling her name, she looked up from the candy and smiled. " Oceanus! Hi!" she said hugging him. She pulled away and bit her lip, maybe he didn't likes hugs, but she was a hugger. "S..sorry I'm a hugger. " she said looking at him shrugging.

Hearing his question she shrugged. "Not really just looking around, although I'm seeing a couple of things I would love to give Mr. Beady Eye Stone Face." she said giggling but quietly to where he could hear her. "What about you, see anything you want to get?"she asked him curiously.

Oooh! Oceanus was a little taken aback by the sudden hug at first but he very quickly recovered from the surprise. He hugged her back with a light grin. "That's okay, I don't really mind it." It wasn't like she was some random person he didn't know at all hugging him. Stella was his friend. Plus it was nice being able to receive a hug outside of the castle and grounds knowing he wouldn't get into trouble for it.

"I was sort of looking for a place were there isn't any professors," he laughed quietly. "Not really I've mostly just been looking around. I'd like to see what you would give to him though!" There was a lot of things in this shop that would be a very funny prank to play on the man.

Stella nodded and smiled. "Ok good, not many people liked being hugged or touched." she said shrugging. Although she was quite glad that he returned the hug thar she gave him. She always gave her friends and loved ones hugs as a sound of greetings, as she said she was a hugger. It was nice to have some feedom and not think about all these stupid rules that they had, just fun and freedom! She honestly didn't know how to react to it, having fun was a bit weird to her now and she was scared she was going to get into trouble.


Stella giggled softly. "I just hope we don't get caught and in trouble for being in here." she said loud enough for him to hear her. Stella laughed. " Maybe something to make him throw up or have boils all over his face, yeah... that one pay back!" she said laughing quietly now. There was alot of stuff here, hm... she wondered what to get. Phoenix would be proud of her, he was the one that was the prankster, he knew about this kind of stuff better than she did.

"Some people don't but I'm not one of those people," Oceanus smiled at her. When it came to give him a hug or some other form of affection like a pat on the back or ruffling his hair he didn't mind it. Sometimes he found himself seeking out his big sister just so he could get a hug. It wasn't right that they had a rule against it. Keeping some from hugging a friend or a sibling was just plain mess up.

He looked around once again checking for any professors. "I don't think any of them are around right now. Plus it's not like we're actually doing anything other than looking around." Neither of them had purchased anything from the shop. Yet. Oceanus laughed nodding his head at Stella's suggestions. "Or both!" Because both would be extra funny.

Stella nodded and smiled. "Good I'm glad you're not, cause like I said I'm a hugger. " she said giggling. Stella thought this stupid not touching each other rule was stupid, they should be allowed to hug each other it wasn't like they were displaying PDA out in public. Although she knew alot of people snog and all that, but those were the older people, it wasn't going to be her anytime soon. Although she wasn't allowed to hug her brother Phoenix which was plain torture for her, even if he was a butthead at times.


She started looking around as well, biting her lip and sighed in relief not seeing any. " Yeah I know, I heard my friend Rylee had to clean graffiti off the bulletin board at school cause she was there looking at it and the muggle studies Professor made her clean it , which sucks cause she didn't do it!" she said sighing. "Knowing the Headmaster and his minions, they could get us for anything!" she said darkly. She laughed along with him. "Ooh... yes that would be a hilarious sight to see, him throwing up and boils all over him, seems like payback to me." she said. " Especially the throwing up part cause I always gotten sick after running in the mornings, after I talked to Professor Marchand I gotten potions sent up to my dorms every morning that don't make me sick or have a asthma attack or both." she said sighing.

Feeling as if he'd drawn the short straw, Foster entered Zonko's Joke Shop. It was not a place he enjoyed visiting, but he needed to make sure none of the students were getting into trouble, as part of their agreement with the Headmaster. His stomach had been in knots all morning, worried that something would go wrong and he'd have to listen to the longest "told you so" speech in history.

He adjusted his robes and moved to the side of the store, doing his best to stay out of the way of shopping students, while still being able to keep an eye on all that was going on.

Oceanus grinned at her. "You can hug me anytime you like... just so you don't get caught," he added as an afterthought. "We should be allowed to hug. I get the whole idea of the rule and stuff and sure I don't want to see people snogging in the corridors and stuff but how is a hug bad?" It just didn't make any sense at all to his young mind.

Speaking of Professors. Oceanus sighed spotting Professor Davis. "There's one," he whispered to Stella nodding his head in the older mans general direction. Rylee? "The Gryffindor? My cousin?" Technically she wasn't his 'cousin' her baby nephew was his cousin but this made things less complicated. "Yeah, I know! I'm surprised some of us don't get detention for just breathing." Seriously. It seemed like something the Headmaster would do. Oh, you're breathing to loud have a detention. He laughed nodding in agreement. "It would be hilarious!" What Stella said next made the Ravenclaw frown. "That's not good. Are you alright now? Can you handle running in the mornings, you can always run with me if you want." He wasn't the fastest runner but he was getting better and at least they could help each other.

Stella smiled at him. " Good to know, I'll keep that in mind." she said nodding. Rolling her eyes she nodded once again. " I know it's a stupid rule, no hugging isn't bad or holding someone's hand as a sound of comfort, but snogging in the hallways I can see that!" she said shaking her head. She didn't understand these rules, and alot of them were dumb and stupid to her, as well as didn't make alot of sense.

Seeing Professor Davis she nodded at him nervously, uh-oh were they in trouble? She hoped not, they were just looking around the shop and talking that wasn't bad was it? Unless of course they weren't allowed in here, now that was a different story but she didn't hear anything about not being allowed in here. She nodded. "Yeah... that stinks." she said shaking her head. Stella laughed. " Wouldn't surprise me, they give you a detention if you move or fidget too much!" she said darkly. Stella laughed. " Yeah but a good way to get kicked out of the school as well. " she said not wanting that. Stella nodded. "Oh... I'm fine now thanks to the potions, I got to take them after I come back from running everyday but it's worth it, I don't get sick!" she said shrugging. She smiled. "That'll be nice thank you. " She was glad to know he'll be running worh her along the way and help each other out when they needed it.

Trying his best to not overhear too much from the younger students, Foster shifted his body to the left so they weren't directly in his line of sight. He was far more concerned with keeping up the appearance of watching over all of the students, rather than actually watching every move they made and listening to every word they said. They had earned the trip to Hogsmeade and, barring any major events, he was going to let them have a good time. Plus, letting them have a bit of freedom for a change would probably make the next few weeks a bit more pleasurable for everyone.

Distraction success. Avoid telling what you were looking for when in a joke shop in order for the most successful jokes. Yes, she'd seen that Arithmancy professor looking over at them, but hopefully she wouldn't exude guilt, which was fairly easy when one could take the spotlight off her. The students really were good kids. He had so far been impressed by their behavior at Hogsmeade and was going to be sure to let the headmaster know how well behaved they had been. Foster adjusted his cloak and shifted from his left to his right foot. It was far warmer inside Zonko's than it had been in Madam Puddifoot's, most likely due to the large number of students shopping, and he was starting to get a bit uncomfortable.

Before he gave in and removed his cloak, he noticed the young Skyler give him a wave. The simple gesture lightened his heart and he smiled back. Yet another tick in the trust the students column and another reason why something had to be done.

Trying not to let his mind wander too far into the plans that were afoot, he refocused his attention on the students in the shop and removed his cloak before he started to sweat.

The more Stella talked to him the more he realized that they seemed to feel the very same way about this 'hugging' rule. It was annoying and downright silly. Half the time he would forget and have to catch himself from hugging his sister when he saw her in the corridors. "Exactly! The rule should be changed or something." At least to allow hugs.

Oceanus watched Davis until he was out of their line of sight, noting that the man didn't seem to pleased about being in this shop. Perhaps he didn't like spying on the children? But then why was he here? Whatever was going on, this twelve year old was going to steer clear of anything weird. "Yeah. It's best to mostly lie low this term and try not to draw to much attention to yourself." Which was easier said than done with the way everyone was being watched. "Oh, well that's not to bad. I'm glad the potions are working for you and you're not getting sick anymore." Being sick was never any fun. He couldn't imagine getting sick every single morning.

The no hugging rule was one of the stupidest rules she ever heard, and there were some pretty stupid rules. In her opinion most of all the rules were dumb and stupid, they were all ridiculous and a bunch of nonsense. Stella broke the rule constantly seeing how she hugs her brothers alot without realizing it, or until they remind her of the rules. " I agree! Hugging someone shouldn't be a crime!" she said shaking her head. At least she didn't think so, the Headmaster was just cold and bitter.


Stella noticed that Professor Davis looked like he didn't want to be here, she didn't blame him one bit for it, who wanted to be here when you could be having fun yourself? Stella wasn't the one to get into trouble, although apparently she was at the wrong place at the wrong time alot of the time. She nodded. "Oh... I am, but I get into trouble for talking without permission or something like that." she said rolling her eyes. "Yeah I'm glad that Professor Marchand helped with it, I'm really grateful for that. " she said honestly. It wasn't fun being sick, she hated it but now that was fixed and she didn't have to worry about that.
