| | Fifth-Floor Corridor To some the fifth-floor corridor is arguably home to the more interesting corridors at Hogwarts. While it too is decorated with long carpets and various portraits, the statues are just as memorable as the unique nooks and crannies that can be found here. Each of the doors look identical and are evenly spaced out, which can make finding certain rooms difficult. Hopefully that doesn't make you late to Ancient Runes. You know that won't go over well.
In the event that you have some spare time on your hands, do allow yourself to freely wander about -- just don't get lost like Boris the Bewildered. Roaming around, you will see that this particular corridor goes around The Quad and that there is a balcony overlooking the inside of the Clock Tower. Deeper into the fifth floor a casual reading lounge, a storeroom, and an upper hall can be found in addition to Classroom 5B, fondly known for being the headquarters for the Wizard Card Collectors' Club. With a keen eye, who knows what you will find on this floor of the castle!

| Kath/Derf :3 Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite The school year had only just started and they already had a ton more homework than the Ravenclaw liked. Don't get her wrong, an opportunity at learning was always welcomed.....just not when she was trying to learn something else and homework tried to insert itself as the distraction of the century.
Were she just a little more responsible, Jessa may have already been seeing to it before it started piling up, instead, she sat legs crossed and back to the wall working on her next assessment sheet.
The other, she had only just finished filling in and the young girl tried now to not think about the fact the data was potentially skewed. When it was the only data available, it was likely best practice to roll with it and hope the overall results aren't too wonky in the end. If nothing else, she would have to cross reference with others just to be on the safe side.
Every now and then she glanced down to the parchment to be sure she was copying the correct thing.
Oh Merlin, that wasn't right.

Oh Merlin, that wasn't right. As per usual, Derf was walking and not entirely looking where he was going. His ever growing collection of chocolate frog cards in hand and held up to his face, the third year was both pleased and frustrated with his progress. Although admittedly he was going to scream if the next chocolate frog he opened up had a Dumbledore card inside. He had literally spent the night before making a card house out of his Dumbledore collection.
Brow knotted as he read the description on his latest addition, Alberic Grunnion, Derf nearly missed Jessa entirely and would have stepped on HER had his foot not found temporary test on some of her study materials instead. Which was really just as bad when it came to Jessa...stepping on books and parchments and such.
"S-Sorry!" he boyishly squeaked with a jump back, releasing the stack of chocolate frog cards in his hand in a colorful shower to the corridor floor.

There was a foot on her documents. There was a FOOT on her very valuable information. Being far too preoccupied with this recent development, Jessa at first did not notice the body attached to the foot, nor did she recognize the apologetic voice in the split second it took for her to take hold of that foot and yank at it forcefully in an attempt to get it OFF before it ruined all she'd had so far. Foot prints on parchment were detestable to say the least and got in the way of her overly neat and organized note taking. Probably didn't help that he jumped back at the same time, making it all too easy to trip him if he didn't hold on to whatever balance he currently had.
As realization finally hit, the young girl withdrew her hands with a gasp, now as apologetic as her friend seemed to be.
And there were chocolate frog cards everywhere. What was this fresh chaos?
Jessa blinked at him, then down at the scattered cards and her no doubt smudged notes. Merlin's beard. "Remind me to make a spell that gives you an extra pair of eyes." No, really, how cool would that be? Would he let her practice it on him a few times? Perhaps she'd first attempt it on herself just to be sure. "I don't remember you having this many cards the last time I saw your collection." A casual observation as she began gathering them together. How many Dumbledores did one need?

"I don't remember you having this many cards the last time I saw your collection." A casual observation as she began gathering them together. How many Dumbledores did one need? There was a lot happening. A LOT. So whatever semblance of balance the third year had was all but gone when Jessa yanked on her parchments and sent him stumbling backwards. An unfortunately well-timed chocolate frog card just so happened to slide under his foot as he took a step back and its metallic edge acted as one would often picture a banana peel and whoops...Hufflepuff down.
Wind knocked out of him, Derf could barely manage to rub his now sore bum as he rooooolled on to his side and unstuck the chocolate frog card from his shoe - some adhesive in the form of chocolate aiding that effort, apparently. "You mean like...with a switching spell?" Like switch out his ears for eyes or something? He could barely manage the simplest of Transfiguration spells soooooooooooooo.
"Y-Yeah," he wheezed while finally sitting back up, air back to his lungs, and started scooping up his cards back into a neat stack. "Been eating loads of them recently....sorry about your parchments..."

"Y-Yeah," he wheezed while finally sitting back up, air back to his lungs, and started scooping up his cards back into a neat stack. "Been eating loads of them recently....sorry about your parchments..." Jessa considered his question while she helped him gather his cards. Switching? Switching what? In the end she shook her head. "No, I'd conjure you a fresh pair. If I switch anything out, you won't be able to use it anymore. The point is to make you super, not to impair you in some other way." Like what if he couldn't hear anymore because she took his ears, it would be like that Herbology lesson all over again. What if she took his tongue, he'd: 1. Always have to keep his mouth open and 2. never be able to speak again which defeated the purpose of communicating with her bestie.
He would simply need additions. "I reckon it'd be kinda hard though." She admitted, handing him all the cards she'd picked up. "Conjuration in and of itself is pretty hard. Making something from nothing--it'd probably mess up your insides too now that I think about it...if it didn't connect right or ended up interfering with something else's connection." So maybe....she would stuff this idea far up the pipeline until she was better able to work it out. "Don't worry about the parchment. I was making copies anyway. Are you okay? Anything feel broken?" In other words, did he need her casting spells at him as compensation for ruining her work?? Ahem.
It wasn't to say the question wasn't genuine--it absolutely was and his wheeze had left her concerned. It was just....with that concern came an impulse to make it better through things she'd learned. An excitement. An eagerness.

An excitement. An eagerness. The Hufflepuff was torn between admiration and terror at his friend's words. On the one had he truly did admire just how brilliant a witch Jessa was becoming - which he THANKFULLY did not know about her, er, more questionable endeavors...save for the dabbling in necromancy which he was NOT keen on still - and it truly was amazing that conjuration and switching spells were within her wheelhouse as a fourth year...it was also a little scary. You know, brilliant...but scary. To quote a certain famous wizard of whom he had about a dozen chocolate frog cards of.
Which was why her words were greeted by nothing more than an unceremonious, "Oh."
To her question he just shook his head. "Nope. Bum is a little sore but nope. I'm good." Although he did pause for a moment. "I mean...if you wanted to er...conjure a bandage or something to be safe you COULD..."
Speaking of conjuration and all.

Speaking of conjuration and all. The 'oh' was disappointing, to say they least. She'd just presented a fantastic--if not somewhat terrifying--prospect and all she got in reply was an 'oh'. No protest. No willingness to give it a chance. Could he have been anymore ambiguous?
Couple years ago, Derf would have jumped at the opportunity and it was all a little ironic when you thought about it. He'd been more willing back when she lacked the skills to ensure his safety. Now, she was far more equipped with spells and skillset and he was hesitant. Uninterested almost. Where was the justice?
She shook her head. "No need for a bandage if you aren't leaking out of anywhere." A sore bum was minimal so long as he didn't feel he'd broken it completely. "Where were you headed anyway?"
It only now occurred to the Ravenclaw that before the whole trip up, it was very likely that he was on his way to somewhere in particular. The kitchen maybe?
