Second-Floor Corridor

[Zoe]

Arithmancy and the Headmistress' Office are the primary features on this arguably boring floor. Of course there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore here, though the doors that fill the second-floor corridor, for the most part, open up to storerooms and vacant classrooms or offices. At least there are plenty of statues and portraits and a few suits of armour scattered about to make exploring a little more interesting.

Not far after stepping onto the second floor, the corridor opens up to a large, high-ceilinged foyer that branches off to the rest of the corridors on this level of the castle. One corridor containing a portrait of Bridget Wenlock will take you directly to the Arithmancy classroom and an antechamber; a large stone gargoyle can be seen in the distance down the middle corridor; and the other corridor will lead you toward an antechamber and, further down, the girls' bathroom. This part of the castle is not carpeted because of Moaning Myrtle's frequent habit of flooding the bathroom.

Thomas was really bored, seriously was there nothing to do in this castle. "I wish we could play a game of hide and seek or something similar." He sighed as he walked along another corridor. "Seriously why did all the corridors look the same, they could do with some painting." He then took out his wand and looked at it. "I wonder if I'd get in trouble for having a water fight or something similar down this corridor."

Camilla was down to the Great Hall taking the long way. The goal in mind at the moment was to grab a quick snack before taking a quick stroll around the grounds. Making her way down the corridor she paused eyeing the young first year. "You most certainly would, Mister Kingman. So I suggest you don't do that in the corridors. Perhaps you should head outside if you want to have a water fight," she offered the boy a warm smile. "I'm sure there's a few students that wouldn't mind." Maybe she would even join them. Sure it was starting to get chilly but that wasn't anything a few well placed heating charms couldn't handle.

Thomas looked at the jet of water going out of his wand, now what was he to do. "Aguamenti!" Thomas hoped that would stop the spell.

Nope!

"Water Vanish?" Thomas looked at his wand, in hope but still, the water was coming out.

"Professor, if I do the Macarena on my wand, will that stop the spell?" Surely letting go of the wand and dancing on it would stop a spell right?

There was a jet of water spraying out of the tip of the young boys wand all over the place. "Saying the spell again does not make it stop. You must say 'Finite'. Strong and firm when you speak. Go on and give it a try," she explained with a small sigh. Just so no one else came down this corridor right now they would be alright. She would teach him to stop the current charm he cast and then how to clean up his mess.

He would be cleaning this up! Then they were going to be having a talk on just what in the world he thought he was doing!

He suddenly heard the Professor say something about the spell and closing his eyes to try and regain some composure he grabbed his wand tightly and tried to listen very carefully.

"Finite!" Thomas suddenly felt the water stop flowing from his wand and he breathed a sigh of relief, now though what was he going to do? Could he quickly sneak off?

Looking at the mess on the floor, he faced the Professor. "Professor there's a six-headed dog behind you." Would the Professor fall for it, he wasn't sure but he was ready to run in the opposite direction if she did.

However in her thinking it was always best to allow the student to learn from and correct their own mistakes. This was one of those times as to how they were currently the only ones in the corridor.

What was this? She was no stupid women and she wouldn't be falling for that. "I do not believe that there is as you surely would not still be standing here so calmly if there were. Now you were the one who created this indoor pond here in our corridor so you shall be the one to correct this situation." There was noway he was going anywhere without cleaning up this mess!

"The spell to siphon liquid from something is 'Tergeo'. Simply aim your wand at the water and speak firmly and clearly." She remained where she was watching him.

"Why can't we just leave the pond?" Thomas looked at it. "Seriously it makes the corridor look more fun and we could have a swimming race if we get a few barriers and then full them up with water." Yeah surely there should be some sort of physical activity in the school, maybe he should get in touch with Ofsted and tell them, saying that were they involved in wizarding schools?

Thomas looked at the professor. "Are you sure that you want me to clean the mess up, I think it looks awesome just the way it is." Thomas was feeling a bit peckish now, maybe he should just run away from the scene, but then could the Professor use a spell on him,

This was not funny.

"Mister Kingman enough. There is nothing behind me and I am through with you making things up. Now get on with cleaning this mess up as I told you to." Really such disrespect AND from a first year too. This was very displeasing.

Camilla actually blinked at the young lion in surprise. Not only was he making up stories but now he was trying to get out of cleaning this mess up. Nah-uh. Noway.

"No we can not and you will be cleaning it up. Now. You will also be meeting with me tomorrow afternoon at four sharp for detention for not only making up stories but trying to get out correcting the mess I so very clearly told you to clean up." No she was not at all happy about handing out a detention but enough was enough here!

Arms folded over her chest she watched Thomas closely. He wasn't going anywhere until all of this water was gone AND she would be seeing him tomorrow for detention as well. How on earth she was still so calm was beyond her anymore.

Thomas totally wasn't liking this Professor, seriously it was important to exercise and having a swimming pool would be great, some people seriously needed to just go with the flow, not that he would say that to the Professor.

Detention, with this Professor, could he phone a friend or ask the audience or swap with another Professor maybe his head of house, he seemed friendly enough.

With a calmness that surprised even herself, Professor Stewart watched silent as Thomas cleared up the water that was covering the corridor floor. The last thing she needed right now was for someone to come this way and slip in a puddle of water that should never have been here to begin with.

Despite the young lions clear displeasure with the simple task of using one spell to correct the pool of water he did a decent job. "Thank you. Now it would serve you well to remember that spells and charms should be practiced in the practice room or outdoors to prevent messes such as this."

"I will send you a parchment later this evening to inform you of where you should meet me tomorrow afternoon for your detention. You may go now." No point in standing around in the corridor all day long.

OH NO!!!!!!!

One minute the Gryffindor was walking down the corridor, lassoing a necklace (that was definitely not hers) around and the next minute there were beads flying absolutely everywhere in all different directions. OH N U T S.

This was bad. Like really, REALLY bad.

Zoryn generally didn't get nervous about anything. But if she didn't get this necklace back in one piece, she was gonna be dead meat. Of course, not returning the necklace would also mean that she'd get caught for stealing it from the older girls' to begin with. And man, this was just one problem after the next.

Shoot.

It was funny how empty the castle could begin to feel when the people you were used to seeing everyday had parents who decided the castle wasn't safe anymore. The Common Room was marginally more silent and she actually missed some of the riveting conversations that got held in the evenings before curfew. Distractions were what she needed and right now they were growing fewer and fewer.

Oh, but here was a distraction right here. Jessa watched the beads fly about the corridor she'd just entered and saw what looked like panic creep onto Zoryn's face from where she was standing.

Curiously, the Ravenclaw stepped further into the corridor, looking at the beads strewn in all directions.

"We could always get them back." She stated, surveying the area. "Except that one, I reckon. Unless you've got small enough hands to reach into that hole." The one bead had decided to make its new home in the cracks which she suspected would've been a problem.

Zoryn didn't know how to do one of those, but maybe if that'd work Jessa would be willing to do it for her!?! She looked at the Ravenclaw with large, hopefully eyes. Please save my life. I'M TOO YOUNG.

It'd be a waste to let go, y'know? "But if my hand is stuck small for the rest of my life, I'll be forced to ruin everything you love," it was, unfortunately, something that would have to be done. Zoryn wouldn't take pleasure from it, of course. "No offense," she added as an afterthought 'cause Jessa was smart and Zoryn liked her.

"D'you think we can find all the beads before lunch time?" She was hopeful, but also very nervous. "It's sort of like the most important thing I'll ever have to do in my life." Because the seventh years were scary and Zoryn didn't want to end up as the main entree for supper.

"None taken." Her voice held a certain level of detached interest as she knelt next to the Gryffindor to get a better look at her hand. Probably wouldn't have to shrink it by too much. "I don't have anything I love." One warning warranted another. She would hate to have Zoryn waste her time like that and she supposed it might have been a hassle having the Third Year smash a bunch of her stuff or meddle in her relationships while she tried to find a point of vulnerability.

Hassles like that were better kept away from her. She didn't have the time.

"We can get them, yeah but..." Blue eyes surveyed the corridor. "How's this the most important thing you'll ever have to do....?" Didn't speak very highly of her ambitions if you asked her.

"Accio-ing might be the easiest so long as you know where they got off to, otherwise we might have to do an old fashion search."

Pips much preferred working in the kitchen, making the perfect recipes for the studentsies for dinner. But if sweeping was what needed to be done, then sweeping was what Pips would do! Anything to keep the castle at its best. He hummed merrily as he made his way along the second floor corridor, brushing the dust into a neat little pile.

But oh, there was something shiny! Pips bent down to pick up the small bead, only then aware of the two studentsies looking for something. "Can Pips be helping the mistresses?" he asked with wide eyes. "Pips founded coloured bead, if that's what your looking for?"
