SSRP: Auction Date :: Theophilus and Katlas

What with going back to work as soon as the new year began, Theophilus had arranged with one of his dates to meet up in early February and used that time to orchestrate something of typical Darcy fashion. An evening of BINGO and then drinks and a boogie at a small hole in the wall. He had kept his plans secret, and only forwarded the street name and 'dress casual' to Miss Katlas Somerhalder.

A month of his new position at work had passed, and so had a month of making sure that he had gotten someone else to call numbers at the bingo hall for that night. For the best part of 12 years, Theophilus had given up two nights of his week to call numbers here for the ladies (and gents) that came to the coolest gaff in town. It really wasn't anything special, but to his grandma it was the best place full of the best people. And if Grandma Darcy thought that, then so did Theophilus. As he waited on the street for his date to show up, Theo cast a charm on the bunch of fake flowers in his hands to soften the petals and make them seem every bit real.

They just wouldn't die, ever. A trick that had gotten him many a girlfriend before was these flowers and saying 'they'll last as long as our love'. Maybe that was why he had stalker exes. Huh. Maybe not such a good idea...

Either way... he still had flowers to give.

She had moved everything around in her schedule for work and even meetings that were honestly just so pointless to even be talking about and she had even set up a very good babysitting for her son. This was the first time she had ever been on an auction date. It was something different. Maybe different would be good. Just as long as she didn't have to deal with any of her exes she was perfectly fine with being auctioned off.

The brunette had no idea what she should wear. That was a first for her. She didn't know if she should wear something formal, semi-formal or casual. It took her some time but she managed to find the perfect outfit to wear. Once she was done with her hair and makeup she made her way towards the venue where she was going to have her date.

Katlas made her way towards the street where she was to meet her date. Looking around she noticed a man with flowers in his hand. The woman walked up to him and smiled. "I take it you're Theophilus?" The Scottish woman said in a sweet tone.

Oh ho ho. She was as attractive as she had been when he'd seen her at the auction. If it wouldn't look ridiculous, Theo would have high fived himself right there. "I'll be anything you want me to be." He smiled, taking her hand and pressing his lips to the back of it. Winning over women was honestly one of his strong points, especially when flowers and words were involved.

Speaking of flowers.. Theophilus lifted the bunch in his hands and offered them to his date. "For you, gorgeous."

Katlas smiled softly at him as he took her hand and kissed the back of it. Haha! She wasn't going to be letting her guard down right yet. Typical man with the flowers and the compliments. She wasn't at all against it. It was just very stereotypical but it was also a very lovely gesture. Katlas took the flowers from him. They were very beautiful flowers.

Theophilus laughed a hearty laugh that had substance pulled all the way from the pit of his stomach. "Katlas, love, it's the job of a gentleman to get a woman flowers." He reached to put a hand on her back so that they could begin to walk down the road to the town hall and he could show her off. "Besides, they're as real as my ability to bear my own children." He'd work in his classic love line about their life another time. This was a first date.

And Granny hadn't even given her the thumbs up yet!!

The lack of terrible dates she had been having this year alone was killer and the year had just started not that long ago. She was dreading her birthday though. "I know it is. Thank you for the flowers anyway." she smiled at him. No sense in arguing over flowers and what a gentleman should do or not do. Okay. Well. Hmm. She had no words about that last line so she just nodded at him.

He high-fived the man he recognised as a local bus driver and then turned his attention back to the lovely lady on his arm. "How has your day been, anyway? Am I the light at the end of a very dull tunnel? Or just the cherry on top of a delightful day?" Either way, he didn't care.

"Surprisingly enough my day was pleasant. How was yours?" she asked smiling at him. He seemed sweet but he wasn't the light at the end of a dull tunnel for her. "As delightful as you seem right now you're not the light at the end of my tunnel right now. My son is. To be honest I'm not sure what you are at the moment but in due time I will." That was nothing against her date, she would have to figure out more about him.

"It was a good day. Always a good day." That wasn't untrue at all, because he'd had an amazing lasagna from lunch that was leftovers from his parents. His mother, actually. But Theophilus felt like his father had had the idea for the meal and therefore was half responsible for it. Theo didn't stop walking at her words, but he did look mighty confused. "I was just asking if you were excited about the evening at all." Yikes. He wasn't putting himself into her life like that at all.

But with no intention to dwell on that, the man held open the door into the town hall for her and smiled. "How old is your son?"
