96. Socks
Age: 8
Location: A class room, somewhere in Brighton

Carlton wiggled his toes and looked at his socks with loving, adoring eyes. He was so pleased that his dad had finally bought them for him.

"Why do your socks have animals on them?"

Carlton looked up at the three girls from his class. “They’re bunnies.” He explained, blissfully oblivious to the sneering behind his back.

“You're a dork.”

They left him alone again and Carlton looked down at the bunnies covering his feet. They were just too CUTE. If his classmates didn’t see that then it was really their loss. “Bunny socks.” He murmured contently, wiggling his toes again.

24. House elf
Age: 11
Location: Outside the kitchen, Hogwarts

Carlton peeked inside the kitchen, eyes wide and full of excitement. So, he didn’t really want to sneak up on them. But he HAD to know if they were telling the truth. Were there really house elves at Hogwarts? Did they really exist?

The 11 year old, stood firmly in his place as he watched them in the kitchen, cleaning and preparing for the dinner in the Great Hall, later that same evening.

“I love you.” Carlton murmured, watching them from afar. He wasn’t ready to talk to them yet and settled for just watching them. “I love you so.”

59. Ignore
Age: 10
Location: Primary School, Brighton

Carlton walked up to the group of classmates and plopped down next to them. “Hi!” He beamed but no one replied.

Mat glared at him. “That seat is taken.”

“Oh.” Carlton stood up, realizing every other seat was taken. He watched Mat place his feet at the chair he’d just left.

Carlton hugged his backpack close to him and hesitantly hovered behind the group. “Anyone seen the new action movie?” He asked with excitement.

Silence.

Carlton looked down at the floor. He didn’t try to talk to anyone else in class that day. He simply waited for class to begin.

25. Sorting Hat
Age: 11
Location: The Great Hall, Hogwarts.

On shaky legs, Carlton made his way up to the talking hat. Was there a tiny little man inside the hat that would just sit on his curls the moment he put the hat on? He wasn’t sure he would like that. Plus, the yelling was uncanny and uncalled for.

The hat was placed on his head and after (what he assumed was a tiny little man inside the hat) had debated for a while between Hufflepuff and Slytherin it finally made up its mind.

When the hat was removed, Carlton gave it a little bow. Thanks, hat. Thanks, boo.
