Welcome to your third duel!

This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Curse Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE.

Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 20th of November by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.

Please note that you do NOT need to keep a note of any points used, gained or lost during this duel. Simply carry out the RPG process as normal.

Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.

First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

He wasn't going to lie, this was what he'd been looking forward to all term. Guest opponents. It was thrilling, especially considering the level of training some of them had. It made for the perfect challenge, and it was the only instance in which he didn't mind the idea of getting beat. In fact, he welcomed it.

However... he also wouldn't lie and say that he wasn't disappointed with his pairing.

Frankie's sister? Really?

Honestly he'd been hoping for someone else, like Lex, and knowing now that Simon was participating too just made him envious of Frankie. AND HOW DID HADY BAG THE DEPARTMENT HEAD?! Lucky. Maybe that was part of the HEAD boy/girl perks? Whatever, he could deal, it was all fun and games anyway.

His preparation didn't falter, save for an additional mirror-call to Elijah for any final words of advice - not that he needed them or anything. Pfft. If he could not die amongst the best of them, then he could handle Grace. Girls were fierce, he wasn't denying her that, but... still.

Heh.

Feeling limber and content, Zeke entered the arena and strode in his opponents direction offering her a slight smirk. "Gracie," he greeted simply, opting to keep things light-hearted. Out of courtesy (and etiquette) Zeke bowed in the YATI's direction before returning to his post, the first of his spells cast at her within the second, "Incarcerous!" Of course, he was only getting warmed up, and in rapid succession he cast a non-verbal Immobulus in her direction.

Incarcerous: Ties target up with ropes
Additional Effects: Target must unbind themselves before can cast/move again

Immobulus: Renders targets (living) immobile
Additional Effects: Target cannot move or cast spells until spell is cancelled. Spell can ONLY be cancelled by non-verbal counter

Gracie was actually pretty excited to be back here at Hogwarts. She had loved the duelling club when she'd been here, and so it was great to be back. She'd been practicing her duelling since she had left, and she believed she was qutie good. She was also a YATI so needed to be pretty good at duelling. But she obviously knew she had room for her improvement. Nobody was perfect right?

She was kind of disappointed not to be paired with her brother, that would have been interesting. But they also may have ended up killing each other. So maybe it was good that they weren't paired against each other. She didn't might duelling against Zeke either.

"Zeke" The girl murmured in response with a nod of the head. She was going to go easy on him, so she hoped that this would be a good duel. "Protego!" She murmured, casting a shield charm to block the spells. Sure it was a basic charm, but it allowed her cover so that she could quickly cast a Feather-light Charm over herself, to aid physical movement.

She then turned her attention back to Zeke, she cast the babbling Curse followed quickly by a non-verbal Confundus Charm

He hadn't expected Grace to get hit by his spells just yet - it would be far too easy if she had been. Game-ending even, because being suspended in midair had a way of making you super vulnerable, which he knew for a fact. It was almost odd though, because he'd expected her to come at him with everything she had... or maybe she was warming up to it?

Zeke couldn't help but smile to himself as she cast on herself one of his favourites. He could have settled the score on that one, but didn't see the point in playing the same strategy. He wasn't after a stale-mate, or maybe he was? ... Whatever, he couldn't think about that right now.

Blocking Grace's first attack with a "Protego," of his own, he swiftly followed up with the teleportation spell - making himself disappear from the spot in time to miss whatever else Grace had cast in his direction, and instead reappearing shortly behind her. A trick he'd learned from his last duel.

From here he first cast a non-verbal Ventus to hopefully push Grace away with enough force to shock her (maybe even face-plant her) and to provide space for a well-placed Jelly-brain Jinx.

Grace was warming up. She knew Zeke was only a 7th year, but it didn't mean that she was going to go easy on him. She wasn't going to lose this duel easily. She was a YATI and had to prove she was worth the position. She was sure this was simple, but wasn't going to get over confident. Being too cocky would be a downfall, and it was one that she wasn't going to let dampen her efforts at winning.

She was shocked when Zeke disappeared, but grinned. That was a good way of helping him in the duel. She would totally think of that for the future. She felt the wind movement behind her, and it caused her to take a few steps forward. Frowning, she pointed her wand behind her and cast Anti-Jinx followed by Contego. Just to protect her from anything he was sending at her next.

Now offensive spells. She needed to get this duel moving. She pointed her wand to the floor, casting a non-verbal Glacius before quickly casting Conjunctivitis Curse and Langlock in quick succession. Now one of them had to work right?
