First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.
While she'd never admit it out loud, Maggie was in fact a tiiiiiiny bit nervous about this duel. But she knew how to hide her emotions from years of experience so hopefully nobody would notice. It might have been even worse if he didn't know her opponent. Or maybe it would have been better. Easier. Who knew. There was no way to find out now. She would just have to play this cool.
And try not to look TOO bad in front of everyone.
Nah. She got this.
"Hi." Maggie offered Angelo a polite grin as she greeted him before taking the appropriate bow. She was going to miss this. Sort of. Maybe she SHOULD let Zeke duel her once in a while. But then again he was just so much better than her. That was just a fact. Plus, he would totally hold back on her and then it wasn't really all that much fun anymore if it wasn't a real duel.
ANYWAY, she was clearly trying to distract herself from what was happening right now.
After the necessary etiquette had been dealt with, Maggie took a deep breath and looked up, her wand at the ready. Okay, let's do this. Ladies first, right? Certainly. He was a Toussaint after all. So seeing as feinting was a rather useful tactic, Maggie made a point of loudly casting, "Obscuro!" at his face before adding a nonverbal Trip Jinx right after, hoping he'd be too distracted to notice the second spell.
Probably not, but it was worth a try.
SPOILER!!: Spell Things
Obscuro: Creates a blindfold over the target's eyes.
Additional Effects: Spells cast by a target (under the influence of this spell) can be avoided without the use of magic or fatigue points.
Directionality: At Angelo.
Trip Jinx: Trips or otherwise impedes target. (non-verbal)

Once again, if Hirsch thought Angelo would go easy on his assigned opponent because she was female, he was wrong. He'd only hold back in that there were certain spells that apparently were not permitted in the Hogwarts dueling club.
A pity, really, it wasn't much preparation for the realities of the world.
"Magdalena. Hello. Not wearing your dress today then." Angelo's lip quirked just slightly as he bowed. It had been a little while since he'd seen this one. Should be interesting, she was a bit fiery.
Kind of like Maddison Cooper. His little brother had a type.
In any case, Maggie was on the offensive, which he appreciated. He disintegrated the blindfold and shielded upon seeing the flash of the non-verbal trip jinx, though he didn't know that was what it had been. Nor did he need to know.
She could have a few of those back though. A non-verbal cantis, and a non-verbal lapifors heading her way.
SPOILER!!: spells
Cantis: Causes target to involuntarily sing
Incantation: Cantis (CAN-tis)
Additional Effects: Spell must be nullified before the victim can cast another spell
Lapifors: Transforms target into a rabbit
Incantation: Lapifors (LAP-i-fors)
Additional Effects: Target must cancel transformation before being able to cast further spells.

His comment did make her lips curl into an amused smirk though. So he remembered. Of course he did. Who could possibly forget HER? Exactly. This was going to be fun! Or interesting at least. Besides, if she lost - okay, WHEN she lost, this was a MLE employee after all - it wouldn't be embarrassing. As long as she lost with dignity.
Speaking of....
Maggie wasn't surprised that he managed to avoid her spells. Honestly, what kind of YATI would he have been if he hadn't been able to do that. So naturally, her own shield was up almost immediately after she'd cast her offensive spells, assuming Angelo wouldn't need too much time to recover from her 'attack'.
The first spell he sent her way bounced off her shield easily, however two spells cast consecutively was not something a simple Protego could hold off. She knew that which was why she quickly tried to jump out of the way of the second spell. Without much success, however. While it only graced her elbow it was enough for the spell to take its effect.
What was happening????
..........this reminded her of the time she was a chihuahua for that potions assignment. Without the yapping.
SPOILER!!: Spell List
Protego: Creates a shield against MINOR spells (jinxes, hexes and curses), and sends them in rebound to the original caster (i.e. Shield Charm)
Additional Effects: If spell being defended against is deflected back at the opponent (and is successful) the opponent takes the damage of half of the spell directed back at them.
Directionality: At self, deflecting back at Angelo.

A side step and Angelo avoided his own rebounded spell, which was just as well given he was focused on what was now a bunny in front of him.
Magdalena the bunny rabbit. How cute. Don't mind us here then, rabbit, as we conjure several owls with avis and then set them on your adorable, cotton-tailed, little self with an equal number of silent oppugno spells.
Just a couple of natural predators. No big deal. It wasn't dark, so surely Hirsch wouldn't mind.
And besides, it was good evasion practice. He was helpful like that.
SPOILER!!: spells
avis and oppugno x 3
look dem owls.
hungry owls. Peckish, you might say.

Maggie even proved that by running around in circles. While trying to figure out how to get out of this mess. She had to reverse the spell somehow. Only she was a RABBIT. How did rabbits do magic? DID they do magic? She used to have a bunny when she was little but it had turned out to be quite dull. Also at some point it had just disappeared. Allegedly it had run away or something...
Okay. Focus.
She would have to-
WAS HE SERIOUS???
If she could have glared she would have. Could rabbits glare? Either way she tried but not for too long because there were owls. Owls who appeared to LIKE bunnies. Like, for eating. Okay, seriously, COULD she undo the spell? Would it require wandless magic? Was it enough if she like touched her wand on the floor there? Was that enough? Would she even MAKE IT THERE WITHOUT GETTING EATEN?
While she tried to figure all that out, Maggie did the only thing she could do. Try to hide by Angelo's shoes, between his legs. He didn't like owls attacking HIM right? How good were those rabbit legs for jumping? Would she be able to jump on his head?

"You know, non-verbals are more useful when you also get the knack for wandless magic." Angelo told the bunny. And then, quite politely, "Would you like me to turn you back?"
He kept the owls back with his wand and looked down at the rabbit at his feet. "I tell you what, if you can make it to the other end of the room and back here in one piece, I'll change you back." She could show off her evasion skills. And that bunny speed.
Good deal, no?

Could he not have transfigured her into an animal that was inherently deaf? So she wouldn't have had to LISTEN TO HIM! There was more glaring going on but Angelo probably couldn't tell. Somehow bunnies just couldn't look mean. Which was a shame.
What if she bit him?
Which - while tempting - turned out to be quite impossible because a) she was trying not to DIE, b) she was busy trying to figure out how to turn back into her beautiful self and c) he was wearing clothes that looked like he wouldn't even feel her teeth. Like, she WAS only a bunny after all. Not a lion.
Imagine that though.....
Wandless magic was one thing. But being able to stay still and focus long enough to actually perform it was another. Not that she'd ever tried it to be honest. But it probably worked similarly than nonverbal spells. Only you did them without a wand. AND in this case nonverbally because well, rabbits didn't speak now did they? So all in all it seemed quite impossible for her to undo the spell herself. Which was not only frustrating but also highly infuriating.
So much for keeping her dignity.
While she most certainly was NOT a circus monkey, Maggie didn't see any other way out of her predicament. That AND she really had to get back to her wand. So after wrinkling her nose she looked up at Angelo's face for a second, then without further ado started dashing off to the other side of the room. Sort of back to where her wand was. Mostly just trying not to die though.
Seriously, dying as a rabbit was definitely NOT on her list of things she liked to do.

"Keep moving, Magdalena. They're almost as fast as you are." If he was anyone else that may have been a taunt, but Angelo delivered this commentary in an observational tone. Hopefully she'd be learning something out of the experience.
But speaking of fast predatory birds, Angelo went ahead and cast Revertoscutum, a useful shield, around them, which turned the birds back into... well. Eggs. Eggs actually. The shield didn't stop the momentum of the previously-birds though, so there were now eggs pelting the ground.
He cast finite on the rabbit transfiguration too. Would she be.... hopping mad now? Could she use that anger to fuel herself? He was intrigued to see what she had up her sleeve.
"Surprise me with something creative." He suggested with one side of his mouth turning up in his trademark crooked smile. She could do that, right?
SPOILER!!: spells
just revertoscutum and finite, nothing exciting.
Oh, but there are eggs. Yo eggs.

Death by owl was NOT the way she wanted to go. Like, there were so many more attractive ways to die. Like maybe in her bed when she was old but still JUST as beautiful as she was now. And they'd put her in a glass casket and everyone would cry. But being mauled by a group of owls? Nobody was going to put her into a glass casket then.
N O B O D Y.
This was-
........wait, eggs?
At first it only registered in her peripheral vision that something was coming down from the sky now. And it wasn't owls. It was...eggs. Which were just as damaging to her right now. Okay maybe not JUST AS but they were still bad news. Which was why she kept going faster, zigzagging, heading for her wand and she was-
Maggie was hit by the reversion spell just as she was speeding up and her momentum made her roll forward a few times. Ugh. Ouch. Luckily her years of ballet classes had trained her how to cushion a fall so she didn't hurt herself too much. AND SHE HAD HER WAND!!! That was the first thing she reached for once the room had stopped spinning. Or even before that really.
Without getting up from her seating position Maggie turned around to point her wand at Angelo again. NOT GIVING UP! "Incarceous!" She tried to aim for his hand holding his wand before adding a "Confringo!" by his feet while quickly standing up herself.
SPOILER!!: Spell List
Incarceous: Ties target up with ropes.
Additional Effects: Target must unbind themselves before can cast/move again.
Directionality: At Angelo wand arm/hand.
Confringo: Causes explosions upon contact, and often creates fire.
Additional Effects: Warning - while this spell can be used, there is NO tolerance for excessive violence or injury. Use it cleanly.
Directionality: At the floor in front of Angelo's feet.
