Welcome to your third duel!

This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Hex Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.

Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 21st of July by 11:59pm GMT+1/BST. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.

Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.

Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.

Rooney Bronwyn did not bow.

Rooney Bronwyn did not take any steps.

Rooney Bronwyn was not going to be dueling today. Instead, he took a seat on the platform, crossing both his legs and arms and watched his opponent carefully. She couldn't cast on him if he hadn't given permission. This was a voluntary thing and he had not volunteered to be a laughing stock for the student body of Hogwarts.

Errr, why wasn't Rooney bowing to her?

Esme was confused as she watched him take a seat on the platform, arms and legs crossed. Clearly something was up and there was no way that she could start the duel without proper etiquette; beyond the fact that it would be unprofessional and in bad taste, the Professor was right there and she would get in trouble. Besides she was slightly concerned because their last duel hadn't gone like this and there was no reason for him to be against facing HER since she hadn't even done anything to him. Yes, she was rather confused.

"What's wrong?" Because it clearly was SOMETHING.

Raising a finger to his lips, Rooney shushed at Esme and shook his head. Couldn't she see that he was staging a protest? A protest against this art. A protest against pitting them against each other and making him see girls CRY. He was so very still upset about seeing Miss Charlotte cry and even though he'd seen it once more since then...he wasn't ready to stop blaming the stupid stupid Professor for making her his opponent.

Esme was just going to have to deal with it.

The call for silence was even MORE confusing. ESME WAS SO CONFUSED. She blinked and then it hit her. So it was a silent protest. Interesting. This was the first time that someone had protested against dueling in the club - at least as far as she knew. How was Professor Hirsch going to deal with it? Honestly she was perfectly fine with the idea and was half tempted to join him on the floor because why not.

She had no reason to protest against dueling but that didn't mean she couldn't sit down. For the moment she stayed how she was but she would see how things went.

It didn't take much for Rooney to get a bee in his bonnet about things, especially recently and today was no change. He had little to no intention of getting up and starting this duel or walking away as if it didn't mean anything to him.. Rooney was going to sit here for the duration of their time and make a DARN point. (Not that he was entirely 100% on what his whole point was, but he had many small ones)

He gave Esme a look that urged her to join him or get lost, and then looked towards their Professor.

Ehhhhh, Rooney was giving her a look and Esme knew exactly what it meant. The floor DID look like an inviting place to sit even if she didn't have a personal reason not to fight. Honestly they would have had this duel well underway by now if he had taken the first bow and sent a spell or two her way. But nope. They were doing things differently and she was going to go along with it and see what Professor Hirsch was going to do.

Not figuring that there was any harm in it, she joined Rooney on the floor though of course it wasn't out of any form of protest. Might as well sit because standing wasn't doing her any good at the moment...

Never in the history of this club, he bet, had a full on protest happened. The man stared at the young Ravenclaw as he sat down on the platforms and refused to take part in the duel. This wasn't some sort of new tactic, was it? There was nothing strategic about this, it seemed. Rooney Bronwyn just did not want to duel.

Why did he want to break Hirsch's heart like this?

Letting out a small sigh, the Defence Professor moved forwards and bent down near the Prefect. "Rooney? What's up? Why don't you want to duel?"
