Welcome to your first duel!

This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Hex Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.

Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 14th of June by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

Niomi prepared herself before she prepared to duel. She was new to this, never before has she participated in the dueling club. Once she was prepared, Niomi walked up to her opponent.

She looked at her opponent, trying to figure him out. He was a Slytherin, like her. Niomi didn't recognize him. Was he in the same year as her? Must be, he looked like he was. Besides the point of how old he was, it was time to start a duel. To start off, Niomi bowed. Good manners was a key in life, something she learned at a very young age.

Before the boy could preform a spell on her, she spoke up and used one herself, the Fur Spell.

Having not participated in the Duelling Club last year, part of Dalton wondered why on earth he was here this year. If not out of sheer curiosity - for it wasn't exactly like he particularly enjoyed magic and whatnot - maybe it had something to do with a certain Gryffindor babbling on about how amazing it was all of the time.

Maybe. He offered his signature smile-come-grimace at Niomi, whom he recognised from being in both his house and year (although given the fact that he could count his friends on one hand, it wasn't a surprise that they'd never spoken) before bowing and stepping backwards.

He was, however, slow on the raising of his wand, and before he had properly realised what had happened his skin was covered in very itchy, very warm fur. Now the smile was definitely all grimace, as he cast a quick, "Finite." on himself, before aiming a sharp "Incarcerous," her way.

Dalton wasn't sure he liked this.

When the 'Incarcerous' spell was cast, Niomi didn't have enough to avoid it. The spell was cast and she was tied in ropes. The ropes wrapped around her body, not too tight, but tight enough. Niomi didn't like this. Quickly she cast the "Finite' spell. The ropes disappeared from her body.

Now, to shot a spell back at the boy. What spell would she use? Thinking quickly about it, she cast the 'Obscuro' spell. Once the she castes the spell she spoke up, "I'm Niomi, by the way." She didn't know who the boy was, so she might as well get to know him now.

Hirsch was a little unsure about this particular duel. Was it really wise to place two people who were new to the club to face each other? Or could they learn off of each other? He didn't know.

As it was, they didn't seem to be doing badly. Not at all. A little practice was needed, sure, but the man had no complaints. And no one was outright beating the other up in a haste to win the duel. When the time was up, he struck up the barrier, as much as he didn't want to. He'd have liked to see it continue but time had other ideas in mind.

"Well done, both of you," he called, stepping out of the shadows, a little dramatically, "That was a great first attempt, I have to say. You've both put up a good fight but, Mr Fletcher, you've taken the lead in this round. Well done!"
