Welcome to your first duel!

This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.

Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

A referee (either Professor Airey or Professor Hirsch) will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 14th of June by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.

Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.

Having a reputation to keep up with as the top dueler of her level, Kat had prepared herself for dueling club over the summer. Reading up on charms and defensive spells. It just wasn't the competition of dueling, it was learning new things to improve and work on. Also Katerina was always liked seeing what she could do. But Hirsch did have a knack for messing with her head with dueling partners, first Ariadne then Olivia, and Cornelius. Who was Hirsch going to partner her up with next.

Goodness she was ready for this, but it was the not knowing who her partner was. You had to be prepared, and knowing who you are battling is part of preparing you had to know your opponent. Luckily for her she knew everyone she had dueled.

She skipped to the great hall and into the dueling area. The blondes jaw dropped, BRADY. BRADY was her opponent. Really, Hirsch? Really? How about stabbing her in the heart? Cornelius was one thing, but Brady BFF's for life here. "Brady!" She bowed yeah the first time she would ever bow to him. Why did Hirsch just let her have a go at him? She would completely take on that challenge.

"Expelliarmus!" Since Brady hadn't been in dueling club before she was going to take it easy on him. Just this one time. He did know the Protego charm right? If not this was going to be the easiest duel ever.

What was he doing here? Why was he here? He didn't remember signing up for this. Um...what? No, no, no, no. Was this some kind of joke? This was uncalled for. Geez, professors were so stupid. He was NOT going to duel against his best friend. No! UGH!

What? NO! NO! NO! What the heck was going on? What was she doing? "KATERINA!" Bradson yelled at her. AHHHHHH! Before Brady could duck or dodge the spell he pointed his wand towards her. "Protego!" The Scottish boy said. Ooops! He didn't want to do this, no. The second year shook his head and frowned at his best friend. He didn't like this, he didn't like this at all. What had he done?

Oh, were the two duellers best friends? Oops.

It didn't bother the man so much: sometimes, the best duels came from duelling against the people you got along with. And it built you up as a person. If you can duel against someone you cared about and came out of it in a reasonable state, duelling against someone you hardly knew was going to be a piece of cake, more or less.

Regardless, he watched the two duelling against each other, his eyes on Mr Somerhalder in particular. The boy was new to the Duelling Club and so, he wanted to see what his stance was. Everyone had their own style when it came to this and Mr Somerhalder was no different. He noted the quick reflexes and the way he seemed to launch himself behind the shield spell. Hm.

Oh, was it over? Shame.

When the time was up, Hirsch constructed a magical barrier between the two using his wand. It didn't seem like he needed to bother, really, especially since no other spell had been cast. "Well done, both of you. A very short duel, I have to add," he said, stepping out of the shadows and approaching the two Hufflepuffs, "Well done on your first duel, Mr Somerhalder, but it looks like Miss Delgado has taken the lead on this one. Congratulations, Miss Delgado."
