Welcome to your first duel!

This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.

Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 14th of June by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.

Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.

Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.

Meeep! Was it really time to duel? Merlin, she had like zero experience with this stuff. As Vanya Fairfield would say, why no try? "It was a part of the learning experience", the famous line went. But Vivi wanted to learn. She knew her mum would've been a great dueller... and a smart one too, because Ravenclaw.

Vivian made her way to the arena to begin her first duel EVER. Here's to hoping she didn't die or fail miserably in this. She was a beginner, after all. Either way, if she won or not, she just wanted to make sure she was in one piece when she went back home.

"Hi! I'm Vivian. You must be Rebecca?" she said to her fellow first year. They were both equally new to this, so she didn't really mind. Either way, things had to start and apparently the Slytherin was tasked to do so. Oh, her? LOL okay. "I... well, good luck!" The other girl received a smile from her.

Wand at the ready, Vivi took a deep breath. Well, here goes nothing! "Incarcerous!" she sent the spell towards the Gryffindor and tiptoed to see if the effects.

Hopefully no serious injuries! Vivi was innocent!

Oh boy ooooh boy! This was so exciting! Her very first duel was about to start and Bec couldn’t help but smile widely as she took in her surroundings. The armor she wore made the thing so much cooler as well.

While she marched to the middle of the room to greet her opponent, Bec held her head high and had her phoenix wand at the ready. She tried to look intimidating the moment they stood in front of each other but when the girl introduced herself the Gryffindor waved. “Hi! I am~ call me Bec, nice to meet you Vivian, I like your name its really pretty!” it was. She smiled and returned her good luck.

Incarcewhat? Not having the best of memory, Bec didn’t know if she had learned or even read this spell before so her curiousity part made her watch as the spell was casted towards her and it took her a moment to realize that she had to avoid spells, not watch them.

“WAAH!” too late, the rope tied around her legs and the first year fell sideways on the ground. Forgetting her wand, Bec tucked and pulled on the ropes binding her but it was no use. “That spell is so cool!” she suddenly laughed while thinking of a way to free herself. “Diffindo!” she shouted as she pointed her wand at the ropes. They cut loose and Bec stood up with a proud grin before pointing her wand at Vivian this time , flicked her wand and said “Flipendo!”

Ooooh! "Thanks! I like your name too! But yeah, I'll start calling you Bec!" Vivian gave her a thumbs up with her non-wand hand. Because you know... constant vigilance. They were in a dueling club, after all. Nobody was going to survive without a wand here.

It relieved Vivian that her first spell did work! She tried to make it easy for now, so all was good. She sighed and sent an apologetic look towards the Gryffindor. Sorry? Well, the ropes didn't look like something that would hurt anyway unless it was tied around too tightly. But you know what hurts more? Being knocked out backwards.

She took the Knockback Jinx to the stomach and landed on her bum. What the heck? Vivian stayed on the ground for a moment. That really did hurt! The Slytherin tried not to show any physical expression of pain but... nope, it ached. So bad. She sat back up and her lower lip quivered. Mummy... where you be? She carefully stood up, with her arms supporting her as she did, and blinked back one tiiiiiiiny tear from falling. "I... I'm okay!" she said. Though, not really. She felt like someone released a bludger and decided she was fresh meat. She managed a small smile that kinda looked like a constipated one. She also tried not wince with every movement her body made. Gah.

Her turn though. She wasn't gonna be a sore loser, for just one not so tiny injury, so she did have to continue this duel. OH WELL SIGHS. Vivian sent a stinging hex towards Bec and placed her non-wand on her stomach. This Fairfield girl was so dramatic, as if she was gonna die from stomach pain.

Was it just him or were these two duellers overly nice and polite with each other?

Hirsch blinked at them, glancing from one to the other. Usually, duellers simply said 'hello' and bowed before moving on with the duel. There were some....... exceptions, if you will - he hadn't forgotten the Head Boy's duel against his girlfriend - but this was taking politeness to a whole new level.

Eh. He couldn't complain.

And there went the duel! He had to admit: the two were rather good with their spells. He found it hard to believe that they were just first years: they almost seemed to be good with this process. Of course, it wasn't a hard concept to grasp but some people didn't grasp it as well as these two had. Frankly, it made the man excited to see how they'd progress.

When the time was over - sigh - the man struck up the magical barrier, which absorbed the Stinging Hex that Miss Fairfield had cast. Sorry. "That was great! Very well done, both of you," he said, emerging from his hiding spot, "It's a shame that it got cut short. You did very well, Miss Meadows, but Miss Fairfield has taken the lead in this round. Congratulations!" Smile.

And they can go and be friendly and polite now. He didn't care.
