| FYI - those dummies are creeping me right out. :P Sanctuary Abnormal | HuffRavSlythDor | Guard Badger ♥ | Stargater | Awaiting Culling Gabriel had been quiet up until now. He felt it better for the ones doing the actual training to do most of the talking. Although he was taking in everything that was being said. And raising his eyebrow when the headless dummies arrived in the room en mass.
Right. Well this was going to mess up his suit. Perhaps he should have left his jacket in the office before coming along to this. Instead he took it off and used his wand just the once - to levitate it over the heads of the dummies and place it on the floor in the corner. He was sure as hell not letting that get ripped.
Now to the fighting. He usually fought with his wand. Not that he couldn't fight bare-handed, of course, but it was more unusual for him. Rolling up his sleeves, he eyed the dummy that was making it's way towards him, a little smirk spreading across his lips. Aron was right. It was going to be more SIG than SING.
Turning his back slightly, Gabe clenched his right fist and placed his left hand over it to give himself more force. With a grunt he jabbed his elbow backwards and into the midriff of the dummy, sending it stumbling a little. Unfortunately it also stumbled forwards, grabbing Gabe by the shoulder and trying to pull him into a tighter hold. "Well that wasn't meant to happen," he grunted, struggling against it.
Bringing his right arm around, Gabriel grabbed the wrist of the dummy and began to twist it around as far as he could, hoping it would release the things grip. Luckily it worked, and he was able to twist it's arm in what would have been a painful way if it has been able to feel it. With a snarl he stamped on the instep and brought his knee up into the groin area. With the dummy now bending forwards in apparent agony, Gabe used both fists to give one last bash between it's shoulder blades to knock it to the ground. "Huh. Next?" |

Kensi eyed the creepy dummies as they started to stumbled towards her..she was a bit rusty in her fighting hand-to-hand combat. No wands? okay, cool. Awesome, really. They were just dummies, right? Mindless things? Yeah, Kensi could TOTALLY handle that...
She tried to remember SING, but even back at home with her old job, once she started fighting, her mind went blank and her adrenaline took over. She side kicked the dummy in the chest, which made it stumble back a bit, but it caught her foot and twisted it. She fell, her back SLAMMING into the ground. She blocked out the pain, however, and was quickly on her feet again. She punched the dummy in his chest, caught his rebound, and twisted its arm as she spun around. She had his arm pinned behind his back. The dummy's other hand began to try to free it, so she grabbed that one, too, and tried to wrangle it to the ground. However, somehow, the dummy and she crumbled to the ground together. Kensi hit the ground, hard, again, and this time, she couldn't contain herself. She began to punch, kick, and jab with all of her might, over and over again. it was mindless and full of rage, something she had learned to never let control her fighting in the past years, but she still had trouble with. She finally managed get the dummy on the ground. She sat on its chest, as it wriggled, but refused to let it get up. Huffing and puffing, she blew her hair from her face. "Well...at least he's on the ground..." she said to herself. She saw others making their way towards her..Merlin, she was going to have to fight more?!

| That's Rough Buddy | Be the Flower | Moon & Stars Yvonne grinned at tiny grin at Wes. She knew her answer was right. Plus, that was one of her signature wand-less moves, and it suited her since her nails were strong. Her grin turned into a sort of mischievous smirk. They were FINALLY going to get moving. She then looked down at her outfit. It had been her first day, so she had dressed presentable. Geesh. Yvonne shrugged her blazer off and set it next to the wall. Yes, this Auror was getting comfy to kick some dummy butt. She eyed her heels and decided to keep them on. They would come in handy.
She was returning to her spot next to Krys when an arms slithered around her shoulders. Her entire figure stiffed, her shoulders hardening, making it harder of the dummy to fully wrap it's arms around her. Pitty, the thing didn't have a head or she would have given it a nice headbutt in the face.
Her instincts lit like a wild fire and suddenly her elbow was digging into the dummy's solar plexus. That made the thing stumble, which gave Yvonne just enough time to stomp on its foot with her heel. She made sure to dig the heel nicely into the archy part of the foot. Take THAT!
No one comes at Yvonne from behind. Hmph!
The dummy once again froze as if it felt pain, giving Yvonne another chance to move. She slipped from its hold and with her hand set straight she hit its throat. If that was a human it was have left them breathless. With a glare, Yvonne saw the dummy fall.
Who was next?

He was pleased that Gabe was participating in the fight, even in his fancy suit and all, since at least ONE division head needed to show people how things were done.
He very nearly stepped in when one young... trainee ended up sitting on her dummy somehow. Erm. Quote:

SING. It was an acronym for a reason. He cleared his throat and looked to the others too.
"If you've already successfully taken one down, try to do two at once, or try teaming up. You know, get creative now."

Sky looked around as more creepy headless dummies came out, without heads the dummies were just very creepy. So they would get rid of one and then pow another one would attack them. She smirked a bit about finally getting into the action. She took a glance down at her clothes good she did not wear anything that could get broken in this training, she just wore some jeans and a blouse. To be honest though her shoes were not good for training they were blue flats, but they would have to do, she could still kick some dummy but in them or she could just fling them off.
She had barley moved when all of a sudden arms started to come over her. If the thing had a head she would head but it real good but it would most likely hit its neck due to Sky's height. Her instincts took over and she stopped on his foot right on the archy part or what ever the I of SING stood for. That must have winded the dummy pretty badly because he let go of Sky and looked like he was trying to grab on to its foot. Taking the opportunity she grabbed the dummy's hand and flipped him over on the ground. Whoops she must have forgot this was not a real perpetrator it was a dummy she had gotten way into the whole scenario.

| ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ Play dead. That was the best natural defence anyone could have. If you played dead your opponent would think that you were no longer and threat and leave you alone, which would give you enough time to attack. Legend didn't say this out loud though, he was too busy listening to everyone else's answers.
So many of the answers were girl answers. Screaming? Attacking with finger nails? Bitting? Did girls actually bite people? The last thing he wanted was a chunk of someones flesh in his mouth. He was no zombie.
Once Wes uttered the word 'practice' Legend's attention sprang back on him. Headless dummies? Come right at him, even if he wasn't allowed to use magic. It was exactly why he spent a few days a a week working out. He had to be able to run, jump, and Muggle fight.
He was ready. Or at least Legend thought he was, until a dummy literally charged at him, and grabbed him by the shoulder. His eyes widened slightly, surprised by its speed, but it was the only slight pause he gave the object.
His captured arm moved forward and then straight back jabbing the dummy hard in the stomach. Its grip relaxed a bit and Legend found himself spinning, as he grabbed onto the dummies arm which was still on him. His other hand found the neck and he PULLED both the arm and the neck forward hard, causing the dummy to jerk forward which let him deliver a good hard knee to the groin.
The dummy let go of his shoulder completely and when Legend released his grasp it fell to the ground.
He stared, silently cursing himself for the small pause that he had given the dummy. Legend sighed and form the corner of his eye he could see one more coming right at him. But then, he sway another. One on the left, and the other the right. "HEY! That's not fair!" But the dummies had no ears, and so obviously they didn't listen. Legend paused, but this time it was planned, waiting until the dummies got close enough, then once it looked like they were he brought his arm back in a swift motion jabbing the one on the right. His other arm went around, behind the left dummies shoulder and wrapping underneath his arm to lean him back in an awkward position. With that Legend dug his foot down in the dummies instep the exact same time that he made a fist with his right hand and sent it smashing down on its chest.
Sure it wasn't a sing move but whatever.
The left dummy fell to the ground just like the first had but Legend wasn't finish. The right one was still up, recovering from his midsection blow. Reaching out, Legend locked his fingers together tightly as he placed them right behind the dummy's neck. It leaned back attempting to get out of the strange hold, with its arm it struck, punching Legend right in the stomach and knocking the wind out of him.
The Yati gasped, but still held on. With as much force as he could muster, he pulled the struggling dummy down before colliding its neck with his knee. As Legend let go the dummy leaned back and fell to the ground.
With three dummys finished, Legend hunched over, coughed and gasped for air, as he attempted to recover from the dummy's strike. Man, that thing was actually strong.

| ala Sherlock Holmes anyone Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna At least his idea had passed muster, Simon not having been sure of how the 'talking' idea would be viewed. But of course it wouldn't always work even if it was a good idea...especially not against dummies. Of the un-human kind anyway, the YATI watching them approach as the department head summoned them. He listened to the rest of the comments and then paid attention as Wes described their activity.
Right...take them down...no magic.
Simon watched as a few other members of the department took their turn dealing with the dummies. The thing with the SING manuever was it was best as defense, or a way to get out of an attack. Offensively it could be done...just a bit differently. And he certainly needed to move close enough to the dummy for it to act in away he could work it. Solar-plexus...first shot..stomach and abdomen.
In-step...second shot...hiting target in the foot. Try to make them stagger or have to compensate.
No nose for the 'n'.... neck would do. Cut off the dummy's non-existant air supply even temporarily.
Then groin...painful for half the population.
Now to execute the manuever.
The second-year YATI moved even closer and right as expected, he attracted the attention of a dummy. Simon did his best to avoid any offensive attack aimed his way, using his movements and swipes to lead off the fight. Then he initiated the manuever they were supposed to be using, the former Gryffindor aiming for the abdomen through an opening of the dummie's own limbs. It connected and he moved smoothly on, stepping on the fake foot which seemed to have worked out as well.
However the dummy grabbed his wrist as he went for its top, making him fail in his third attempt and the YATI have to compensate himself. Especially when the dummy started wrenching his arm. Oww. Using his free arm, Simon worked on freeing his limb, the dummy trying to grab hold of that one as well. G...right, the young man moving on bringing his knee up and adding a trial for his opponent and thankfully loosening its hold enough. A few more moves had hims free and the dummy taken out, Simon stepping back to gather himself before whatever he dealt with next.
Well, it had almost gone well.

Hogwarts RPG Name: TBD Gryffindor Hogwarts RPG Name: Zara H. Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | *gives the stage to Ern* Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB "All right!" Wes called out, clearly impressed with the moves his team had. Especially Legend; the YATI had taken out THREE dummies. Good work, good work. Wes had been surprised no one had taken up his offer of teaming up but, well, they'd get to do that later.
He snapped with his right hand again and the dummies quickly formed a single file, harmless line, marching themselves right on out of the training room and back into their storage closet. Wes smiled a bit at the trainees, most of whom were still catching their breath, and then gestured toward the IUMO Chief. "If you want more practice with the dummies, you're always welcome to take one or two to the training room when it's not in use. Just let me know. Until then, I'm going to turn the floor over to Caedwyn Howard, Chief Inspector of the Improper Use of Magic Office. Please give her your full attention and respect."
He nodded and took a step back against the wall.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Oooh. Stress. Talking after the Big Boss, especially when her talk was really a TALK and not throwing down a bunch of innocent dummies, gave Caedwyn the butterflies. She gave Wes a little nod as she scooted around to stand in front of the gathered DMLE employees.
Heeey there, buncha staring people. "I'll let you all catch your breath during this next topic, but I need your brains engaged, please. We're going to spend some time today reviewing some of the most common and important laws you may encounter while performing your jobs. I suspect that some of you may be thinking that so long as you are familiar with the laws that directly impact your job function, you don't need to worry about other Wizarding laws. Why is that a false assumption? Why, for example, would an Unregistered Animagus Investigator need to know what items fall onto the non-tradeable materials list?"

And then she was immediately gobsmacked. Who on Earth thought they didn't need to know all the laws?! That was as ignorant as moving to a different country and not bothering to learn their laws! Panting a little, she answered "Well, how do you know if you're about to break a law if you don't know the laws? Using your example, if the Unregistered Animagus Investigator didn't know what was on the non-tradeable items list and they traded such an item, they would be facing a heap of trouble. Yes, it was probably the most simplistic answer, but Roxanne thought it was the best. After all, who didn't want to avoid trouble? And she didn't want to go into how bad the department itself would look if one the employees broke a law...

"That's a good point, certainly. I was thinking more about needing to know the laws when one was in the field. Does anyone want to expand on that answer... consider other reasons it is important for us to be aware of laws outside our own field of expertise?" Emily was usually one to try to outshine her competitors/ colleagues, but after entering the training arena, she found herself holding back, flying under the radar so to speak... observing the new kids on the block. And the not so new kids too of course.
Really, to her, there was one very simple, very logical explanation as to why they needed to think beyond their own areas of expertise. "Leverage," she stated clearly before expanding on her answer. "Beyond our divisions, we're one unit... we work as one, therefore, being aware of our laws allows us to alert those with the expertise to certain situations, hazards or perpetrators. Call it a consultation of sorts." Not to mention they were M-L-E. If anyone should know the laws, it was them.
She paused briefly before continuing. "But also... some perpetrators are difficult to pin for their primary misdemeanors, but a crook is a crook and they likely have their hands in more than one cookie jar. So by understanding wizarding law beyond your specific area then we're better able to at least take them into custody for one thing thus providing time to source evidence to do them in for the big one."
See. Leverage. Either way... Being MLE they should ALL know the laws already. No brainer, at least that's the way she saw it.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee "That's a very good point," Cade agreed, giving Emily a nod. "You see examples all the time of suspected Dark Wizards who get picked up for much smaller rule infractions. Who get prosecuted and imprisoned, in fact, for more provable laws. You need proof to prosecute someone as a Dark Witch or Wizard, but it is easier to find non-trade materials or Dark artifacts improperly kept in their homes."
Very clever was that Emily Browne. Very clever.
"Personally, I think it's also beneficial to be able to recognize laws when they are being broken for that first reason that Emily mentioned. We're a team, each with our own specialties, but if in the investigation of one crime, you spot another being broken, you can pass that on to the appropriate office and prevent your co-worker unnecessary effort and possibly save lives or personal effects."
So, moral of the story... it was vital to know everything one could about Wizarding Law. It was a reason they offered so much training on that topic.
"I'd like us to play a short trivia game today to brush up on our knowledge. We'll play by division, so your points will go toward a team count, with the winning team getting a free lunch and bragging rights." Cade removed a stack of cards from her pocket and shuffled through them until she came upon a likely question.
"Ready? What law is being broken when a Muggle reports a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster?"

| Auror Office Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Simon had stood back and listened to what Cade had been talking about, the YATI trying to remember a smiliar discussion from a class he ahd taken while at university. It basically came down to the fact that just because you were in charge of one speciality, didn't mean you should overlook another. And to do so, you needed to be aware of more then one might think. However before he could answer, Emily and another had spoken up so he waited until the next mention.
At the mention of a challenge, the former Gryffindor paid just a tad bit more attention. After all, you had to try and do your best....right? Simon listened to the first question and thought briefly on the answer that would be needed. Loch ness monster...kelpie...muggle seeing kelpie...ah. "That would be the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy," he finally offered as an answer.

| Auror Office Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Alright...so he was correct in his knowledge and Simon gave a simple nod as the woman accepted his answer and gave the Auror office the point for the question. For the follow-up, however the YATI had to think even further into what he remembered of the statue.
"Might it be Clause 73...which I think is the mention of wizards concealing magical creatures within their home country.." he suggested, thinking at the very least his info was correct if not the actual number he gave.

Cade gave the Auror office another point... was anyone else playing??
"So Scotland is one of the biggest offenders in breaking Clause 73. Does anyone know who another big offender is?"
And just to get them motivated: "And for someone else, can you name ways that other departments in the Ministry work to follow the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy? Points for all reasonable answers." Knowing that Scotland was the number one offender was pretty easy but which country was the second. From what the Hit Witch knew the yeti was often sighted in, erm Tibet right? Yeap it was Tibet- or from what she remembered. Sky looked around before answering why did it seem only aurors were answering. "Tibet is also another big offender of Clause 73- the Yeti sightings."

| Auror Office Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Second biggest offender of Clause 73 about Muggles seeing magical creatures they shouldn't? That was easy. What country had preserves for one of the largest of all magical creatures?
Well duh.
However seeing as another employee had answered for that with an answer that seemed just as right, Simon opted to offer an idea for the second question posed to them as a group. "The Department of Accidents and Catastrophes would work with the Statute by first using the Invisibility Task force to hide things from muggles and then by using Obliviators, Reminiscators and the Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee to help muggles forget if they actually did accidentally see something they shouldn't have." Their whole purpose seemed to be handling the secrecy of the wizarding world...well almost their whole purpose.

Wes crossed his arms and glared at the ones who were being quiet and NOT playing along. What, didn't they want a free lunch on the boss? With the boss? The second part was optional but eh participation was not.
"Since it's an international statute, wouldn't international cooperation have a hand in... enforcing it? And keeping laws, regulations, trading standards, etc. up-to-date?"
Hem hem, Wizengamot people and IUMO employees. This question was up their alley too.

Tibet is the other one I was thinking of, although we know from experience that any country with a dragon reserve struggles to keep the dragons a secret. The United States and Canada have issues with Sasquatch, a close cousin of the Yeti. Greece has the Chimaera. Anywhere you go on the globe, there's a Wizarding Ministry struggling to hide large, dangerous creatures from the Muggles." Which... was a full time job for people in those Ministries and in the ITF. "Very well thought out answer, Mr. Bennett," Cade couldn't help but give the young man a grin. He was eagerly answering every question he put forth. Either he was the competitive type... or he really wanted free lunch. Either way, she appreciated his participation. Quote:

Hem hem, Wizengamot people and IUMO employees. This question was up their alley too. Oh, the boss man was playing! Cade hesitated before giving his point to the MLES. "Another good example, sir. Even though each country is responsible for enforcing the Statute for itself, we have to continue discussion with other nations as part of that enforcement. For example, our current ban on magical carpets directly effects our relationship with those countries that make and export those carpets and have not ruled them illegal."
With a flick of her wand, Cade updated the scoreboard. Quote:

"It's called the Non-Charmable Objects List." Or at least, it better be. She was going to be extremely humiliated if it wasn't...
And a humiliated Roxanne wasn't a particularly happy one.

It was probably bad how much Jaxton liked to see that his Office was winning... bbut he couldn't find it in himself not to smirk a little. Just a little - things could change dramatically between now and the end of Cade's game - especially as he noted the amount of cards she was holding in her hand. Yup - Proud but not overly conceited... yup.
However, once Wesley chimed up with an answer, Jaxton raised an eyebrow. Ohhh, game on Mister Boss Man. He grinned a little, and decided that he too would join in - why not? Only, with the next question as Roxanne answered before he could. It was good to see that the Wizengamot Office team were chiming in with answers though. Yup, very good. Team participation being the point of the whole day, after all.

| Eeeeep missed the best part for Josh! *tries to catch up* 9 3/4 ticket holder / The SS Mentalist / Sherlock / The Master Of Everything / Josh + <3 = Ev
Was the Head Boss talking about running away?
Well...at the case of this Josh Carter was probably the last person to do so. He did not know if it was good for being an Auror but he would still stay in the fight even though he knew he would be kicked to the next year if there was something serious to be dealt with.
He listened carefully as the head man person spoke, slightly smiling at the said SING move. Looked useful. Even though he thought the best was in close combat was the street fighting style which he did almost all his life knowing some specific moves like that could work well with him too. But when he fought, Josh was fully satisfied when he saw his enemy 'ruined' on the floor.
Whatever...
A big grin came to his face when he saw the attacking dummies, yet he was a little bit dissappointed that they did not have heads. He liked to punch a face.
As he was the physical attack type, more than attack with magic one, he pretty much enjoyed his fight with the dummies imagining that they were that Trelawney man that lurked about the KA. Oh, how much he wanted to break the man's face when he had taken Evelyn from him to the pub of idiots there.
When the fighting part over and the young man was done with putting up his anger at the dummies, he took in a few deep breath as he listened to the woman boss next. And it seemed the intense fight was over. Eeeeeeeh. He just stood there as people replied to the questions as...well...he did not think he knew any of those. Yes, maybe he had read about them but...well...eh. He just had the general idea, not the actual words in mind to answer the questions.
He folded his arms as he listened to the last question and thought over it...hard. What could the list be called? ''Umm...'Don't bewitch those or you will be in a big trouble' list?''
He sighed a bit and turned to the woman boss. ''Excuse me, i don't mean to be disrespectful. But do we really need to know 'the name' of it if we already know what we must and must not do about it?''

| Auror Office ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ Legend didn't really like this. The questions weren't exactly igniting any answers in his head. Sure he knew them, on paper, but now that he was asked out loud?
Well, the YATI felt like an idiot.
And Legend Chosen was no idiot. "I think-" He cleared his throat. He read about this right? He should know. Maybe? "-I think that's called the registration...no-the registry of proscribed charmable objects." It sounded about right, yeah? If it wasn't then he was really just making up words in his head, but he couldn't let one YATI get everything.
Legend turned his attention Josh and snorted, the dude sorta had a point but- "You know, I think if you're trying to enforce a law and you don't know the name of the thing you are enforcing people will take you less seriously and will be less likely to listen to you." More trouble on your part yeah?
