| The Sidewalk and Phone Booth Hiss!Roar!Growl!Caw! | Hermione's Double | The Little Three | Alecate The Sidewalk and Phone Booth In a quieter part of London, stands a sole fire engine red phone booth. On the door of the booth lies a sign that says 'Out of Order'. The Muggles who live in the area cannot remember a time when the phone actually worked, so they just ignore it now. Those who are visiting the Ministry of Magic know what it is there for, though. If you step into the booth and dial 64224 (M-A-G-I-C), you will be allowed to enter the Ministry.
On the sidewalk outside the booth, there are a few benches that have trees on either side of them, creating a shaded area for a bright sunny day. Not far from those benches you can see a park or a convenience store, depending on which way you look. Along the sidewalk, you can tell that someone has taken the time to plant flowers to liven up the normally quiet area.
For the most part, the majority of people on the sidewalk and sitting on the various benches are wizards just waiting for someone before entering the Ministry or waiting to make sure that no one is watching them before they enter the Ministry. Occasionally, though, a Muggle can be seen walking down the street, as well.

| FOR YOU! You know who you are! :D *Eating chili with Sirius* Red Ninja*Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha The dark haired woman could barely walk. She stumbled from the Café to a bench near the phone booth. She collapsed on to it with her face in her hands. Usually Medea was much more composed; usually she was cold and shown no emotion. But this was horrible; the feeling in her gut was dreadful.
While her sobs were silent, it was obvious the woman was crying. Sure she still had Noah, and yes she did care for him but he wasn’t Leo Mason. And even at that, what would happen when and if Mason told Noah about them… Well that wouldn’t matter would it? There was never officially a them. If there wasn’t ever actually a ‘them’ why did it hurt so bad?
Medea felt as though her heart was being ripped out of her chest. The woman sat there sobbing, unaware of anyone or anything that might be passing. Although she was sure anyone who saw her would purposely cross the street to get away from her.

Worse.day.ever.
Violet sighed contentedly as she returned from her walk at break time. She found that the outdoors was going to be a welcome respite from the austere, cold Ministry building. She took note of the trees, the people walking by, the woman crying on the bench, the- wait, the woman crying?
Now Violet was never the type to cross the street to get away from someone was hurting in some way. Instead, she usually felt drawn toward them. As she came closer to the bench, the dark-haired form of the woman became vaguely familiar. She's the woman I saw in the work cubicles where I filled out my paperwork. Merlin's beard, what happened?
She reached out her hand and tentatively placed it on the woman's shoulder. Violet was such an empath; this women's pain was palpable; she could feel it drilling a hole in her heart. "Excuse me, I don't mean to pry. But we both work for the Minister's Office, and I just couldn't leave you here like this. I'm Violet, by the way. Would you like to talk about it? It helps to have a target to vent at and a shoulder to cry on." She sat down on the bench next to her co-worker. She had no idea how this woman would react to her overture of kindness.

Medea’s typical demeanor didn’t invite people to talk to her, let alone lay a hand on her. But right now she didn’t care, nothing mattered. How could the world go on when she was hurting to badly?
The dark haired woman looked up to the voice when it was done speaking. It was the woman who seemed rather confused in the office. Great, just what I need. Someone from the office seeing her like this. Her face looked awful. Medea’s eyes were red, black streaks from her eyes to her jaw line, snot running out of her nose. Part of her wanted to pull it together and really just let go on this woman. All the anger, hurt and disappointment she was feeling she wanted someone else to feel it. The other pathetic, worn down side of her needed a friend.
Her shoulders dropped and so did her eyes. Staring at the street she spoke in a cracked, weak voice, ”Medea.” Violet could figure out that was her name right? She really didn’t want to use more words than necessary, it took too much effort. ”And I’ll be ok, it’s not a big deal really. I just happen to screw everything in my personal life up.” She reached into her wristlet and retrieved a tissue as the woman sat. Silence fell upon the conversation. Swallowing hard Medea turned her face to the woman, ”Have you ever been in love?” Tears silently fell from her eyes. |

Swallowing hard Medea turned her face to the woman, ”Have you ever been in love?” Tears silently fell from her eyes. Violet saw an opening in the women's defenses and understood it to mean that she was being allowed into the woman's pain. She was grateful for that- she'd really hoped that this woman would trust her just enough to let her in and help. "Medea," she said softly, "That's a beautiful name. However, it's clear that you are feeling anything but beautiful right now. I'm so very sorry for the troubles you're going through right now," she said with great compassion. Silent tears were falling from Medea's eyes, and it nearly broke Violet's heart. She hated to see people in pain, so she put an arm lightly around Medea's shoulders as a physical symbol of support.
She stopped for a moment to ponder Medea's question. "Hmmm...have I ever been in love? Yes, about 50 times. Too bad it was never real love I'd felt, just the fantasy of what I wanted my 'prince' to be like. Rest assured that, if love factors into your problems right now, you are in excellent company when it comes to screwing up your life! I was thinking of becoming a Professor and teaching on the subject - kind of a "what not to do" class," she chuckled gently. "What happened?" she asked softly, simply. She would let Medea share as much or as little as she felt comfortable and hoped that, even with her young years, she'd have just the right words to comfort her new friend.

She would let Medea share as much or as little as she felt comfortable and hoped that, even with her young years, she'd have just the right words to comfort her new friend. The shell of a woman sat in silence as Violet said her name was beautiful. Medea didn’t really agree, but said nothing. The dark haired woman did like her name, but she didn’t believe it was beautiful. That’s why in her personal life she never used Medea. Never mind that, it doesn’t matter. The only name she wanted to be called was Cora. Leo’s Cora. She sighed inwardly.
The young woman went on about her love life. What struck Medea is that the woman had been in love, or thought she had, so many times. How could someone allow so many people to hurt them? Medea had loved once before, at Hogwarts. That broken heart was enough to shut her down completely, until that is Mason Leo Mason came into her life. Add to that whole mess Noah. GAH! Her life was total rubbish now.
Medea allowed the woman to put her arm around her shoulders for a moment, and then when it was Medea’s turn to explain her love triangle she as politely as she could removed the woman’s arm off her. That was really enough touching.
She fiddled with the tissue in her hands, which were in her lap. Softly she repeated the question, ”What happen?!” Where to start? A heavy breath was audible. ”Well the first time in almost 15 years I allowed myself to love, then I ruined it by building walls.” Oh yea she knew what she did, she knew why as well. She didn’t need a counselor, but somehow saying the things aloud helped. ”He left rightfully so might I add.” She sniffled and let a tear free fall from her face to her white pants. ”In an attempt to make him jealous I started dating another man – who unknown to me at the time – is the first man’s best pal.”
Oh she was getting to the awful part, the reason she was out here in a crumpled mess. ”Me and the man I love met today, trying to just clear the air and be friends. Well one thing lead to another, and we were about to kiss.” The tears were falling quickly from her eyes, it was getting difficult to speak, ”Then I called him the second man’s name. It was an accident, I mean for Merlin’s sake I AM suppose to be dating him.” Her face was back in hands. She couldn’t complete the story, hopefully Violet was sharp enough to piece together the rest. There was no way she could tell the last bit.
His words rang in her ears, ….that’s not my name. This is why she didn’t let people in, this is why she is cruel and mean – to avoid things like this. |

There was no way she could tell the last bit.
His words rang in her ears, ….that’s not my name. This is why she didn’t let people in, this is why she is cruel and mean – to avoid things like this. Violet sat quietly next to Medea, listening carefully to every painful detail of the woman's story. Her eyes closed and she drew in a deep breath when Medea revealed the last, devastating piece of the story. Cringing inwardly, she tried to imagine what the man must have said in return, knowing that it obviously broke Medea's heart and left her in her present state. "I can only imagine how devastated you must feel right now- I'm so sorry it turned out so badly. And after all the time you waited..." Her thought trailed off into silence as she pondered her words. She pressed her palms together, in prayer-position (though she wasn't praying at the moment) and held them against her lips as she chose her next words. "You said that it took you 15 years to let yourself love again...that's an awful long time to deny yourself the promise of happiness. That boy, 15 years ago, really broke your heart, I see. And this is the same man now, the one who you nearly kissed today?"
"That's...incredibly tragic. It must have taken you a lot of courage to meet him here in the first place after all this time. And he obviously still carries love in his heart for you, by the way he acted today."
She shook her head sadly- why was love always so complicated? She was long past her days of believing in prince charmings on white horses, but she was a staunch believer in love and all its powers- to lift up, to heal, to change, to complete. No matter how many times her heart had been broken, she stubbornly refused to give up the belief that love was out there for her- for anyone who wished for it. It all came down to how much a person wanted to work for it.
She turned her head toward Medea. "What are you going to do?" |

It all came down to how much a person wanted to work for it.
She turned her head toward Medea. "What are you going to do?" Medea shook her head and sniffled. ”No the one 15 years ago was at Hogwarts. Because of that boy I didn’t allow anyone close to me. Allowing people in would only allow them the opportunity to hurt me.” Another labored breath sounded, having to explain all this was irritating. ”I met a man named Mason, and even though I loved him I drove him away. Then I met Noah, I started dating Noah in an attempt to eventually make Mason jealous. Through all this Mason and I tried to remain friends. And then suddenly it seemed Mason and I might be able to work it out, and be back together, that is until…” The water works started again.
There was a long moment where only sniffles and gulped breaths could be heard, ”…. Until I called him Noah.”
The woman who called herself Violet was young, it showed – but she was also honest, genuine and apparently part genius. Medea was always looking for the next move, the next opportunity and she let her heartache get in the way.
She lifted her face and for the first time looked at Violet properly. Medea’s mouth was agape as the considered the question, what are you going to do? ”I….” The dark haired woman looked in the opposite direction to the spot from which Mason apparated from. It hurt badly, she wanted him back. How was she going to do that? And did Noah figure into any of this?
Suddenly she remembered the felix felicis she was brewing. It would be ready in two months time. ”Nothing.” The woman sniffled one more time, dried her face with the crumpled tissue and smiled. ”Not a damn thing.” She would win this one, victory would be hers. ”My dear Violet, you have reminded me just why I have gotten as far in my life as I have.” A sly smile stretched from ear to ear. |

It was the talk of the whole office before Damien had snapped and told everyone to shut up. That man really had anger issues but that wasn't the point.
HOW could Sabel do this? Legend paced back and forth in front of the phone booth. He didn't even know if he was going to see Sabel, he just HAD to calm down before he returned back into the office.

HOW could Sabel do this? Legend paced back and forth in front of the phone booth. He didn't even know if he was going to see Sabel, he just HAD to calm down before he returned back into the office. He supposed it was habit, to go to the phone booth to head down into the ministry. Habit to walk this strip every day. Only now did he realize how he had taken it for granted. Only now when he found himself standing across the street from the phone booth, suddenly remembering that he couldn't go into work. That he wasn't allowed back into that office.
It defintely wasn't an easy concept to grasp, especially not when he noticed Legend in front of the booth, pacing back and forth like a pitbull. Something was definitely wrong. But he never considered that the anger was directed at him as he made his way across the street and towards his friend.

Stopping dead in his tracks, Sabel stared at shock at the other boy for a moment, trying to connect all the pieces as quickly as he could. "Legend...."
Things slowly started to click into place. They were outside the ministry. Outside on a muggle street. All thought of what was safe or a good action was tossed to the side as he took a brisk few steps forward, his hand aiming at grabbing Legend's wrist so he could shove the wand out of sight. "Are you barking mad?!"

It was difficult not to shout back in his rising anger the same way Legend was yelling at him. He didn't know why all of a sudden he was on the edge of loosing yet another friend.
Letting out a slow breath to try and at least keep some semblance of calm, Sabel stared right at his 'friend', his eyes burning with raging intensity. "I told Arya about the Cult and it slipped out to Damien that I told her. He wants to erase her memories and I refused. Okay?" It wasn't the whole story, but it was what was eating him up inside the most. What was on the tip of the tongue and the spark to his anger. "I opened my mouth like I usually do and I got hit for it."
He was so done with people. So unbelievably done.

Oh. Well. Huh. Legend's arms dropped from their defensive position and he stuffed his hands into his pockets. Alright. So maybe he had over reacted...a bit. "Well..would did you tell her about the Cult." Legend asked, his voice clearly calmer. That was kind of..a stupid reason to get suspended..and even kind of sad. "Maybe you need to know how to keep your mouth closed sometimes." But Legend wasn't about to say anything more about that. Because he was the type of person who didn't know how to close his mouth.

"Yes! Thank you for the bloody pointer, Legend!" The words came out like spitfire, his anger snapping at Legend's words.
Letting out a frustrated breath, Sabel shook his head, turning away from the other boy. He didn't deserve his anger, but it was really hard to keep it contained. "Apparently saying even a peep was too much. Warning her that her life might be in danger because of me is too much."
He made an attempt to lower his voice to a calmer state, but the truth was that it was wracked with emotion. This whole thing, this whole mess had been born out of good intentions, and he didn't know how he could fix it.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harland Chadwick Lewin Sixth Year | Did you just lose something? The GAME? Sorry... 'Justin Bieber, he is the man!' U mad, Felton!? Holli was searching. OK, not searching. Just walking. Maybe searching. For someone to talk to. She grinned as she thought of how cheesy that sounded. HA! Holli Lewis? Cheesy? Psh.

Just thought you should know."Legend alms spat the words at Sabel. He wasn't angry at him anymore, but it wasn't fair that he was getting snapped at for something that clearly wasn't even his fault.
Legend thought for a moment. Choosing his words carefully before actually speaking up. "Well...the less she knows the better right?" It was something he had heard about before. It was called Occam's razor or something of that sort. "She knows that your in training for be an Auror....so shouldn't she already know that....technically she is in danger?" Technically speaking though, of course..Sabel was just being caring.

Things were just....high strung. "Sorry."
Dropping his hands he shrugged his shoulders. "Depends on perspective I guess." Tucking his hands in his pockets, he hunched his shoulders a little and let his eyes drift to no where in particular. "I thought being prepared would be a better guarantee of safety." Apparently he was wrong, about many things.
But Legend had a point. Even if he didn't want to fully acknowledge it, he had a very good point.

| For Lemon and Sherman. <3 The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion Alysson liked being here once in a while. She had found this spot on a bench under a tree from where she had a good view of the phone booth. That phone booth. At some point she was going to enter the Ministry through that. She just hadn't had time yet. For now, she just liked watching all the people hurry past, trying to figure out who was Muggle and who was just off to go to work at the Ministry.
It wasn't always completely clear. But there were some signs.
Crossing her legs, Alysson leaned back a little and took a sip of her strawberry smoothie. Normally she wasn't one for just sitting around, and all that peace and quiet stuff but this was different. She liked coming here. Strangely enough. But this was her usual spot to spend her lunch break. Here, on this bench. Preferably with a strawberry smoothie. |

Sherman quickly wheeled towards the bright red phone booth, his coffee sloshing in his cup holder. The elderly man was yawning uncontrollably and was barely able to see where he was going. He had slept in apparently for quite a while, seeing as it was his lunch break. His excuse was going to be that he had gotten lost while finding the phone booth, seeing as he usually didn't come in that way. But for this to seem real, Sherman was forced to enter from the isolated phone booth. It was so lonely around here, he wouldn't be surprised if a pile of tumbleweed rolled across the street.
The crippled man was feeling quite nervous, though. He hadn't been late to work a single day before and, of course, this had to happen on the new Department Head's watch. Sherman's anxious feelings and lack of shut eye finally triggered his narcolepsy, sending the snoring old man's wheelchair rolling past the young lady on the bench and crashing into the phone booth.

Leaning back further, Alysson even closed her eyes for a moment just feeling the wind brush against her cheeks. This was pretty relaxing and her mind started to drift off to other places. Thinking about her brothers. Her life. Home. Real home. She still didn't consider her apartment home. Hadn't even when she'd still been living there with Jeremy.
Alysson was all of sudden pulled out of her musing when she heard a loud crash. Well, maybe it hadn't even been that loud but what with her eyes closed, her ears were even more alert than usual. Straightening up with a jerk, she opened her eyes to look for the source of the loud noise and finally found herself looking at an old man in a wheelchair. Who had apparently crashed right into the phone booth. "Whoa, are you okay?!" She called out to him while quickly gathering up her stuff to hurry over to him. "Sir?" Once next to him Alysson regarded the man in the wheelchair for a moment, a little puzzled by what she saw. Was he...was he asleep!? Or...no, he had to be asleep. She wouldn't accept any other option right now. The collision hadn't been that bad, had it? Had it?! "Sir?!" Please wake up! |

She wouldn't accept any other option right now. The collision hadn't been that bad, had it? Had it?! "Sir?!" Please wake up! Sherman woke up to the young woman hovering above him. He shrunk away from her and eased his wheelchair out of the large dent that he had made in the phone booth. It was quite big and could make a serious difference in how many people could fit in the thing at one time. Yawning, he watched out of the corner of his eye for muggles as he waved his wand, and the dent soon disappeared.
The elderly man regarded the lady, but said nothing. Ladies scared him. He pulled out his cane from the back of his wheelchair and stood up, shuffling toward the bench with his coffee and a doughnut he had bought on his way to work. He was to tired to go home or to the Ministry, so he sat down and pretended that tumbleweed was rolling across the isolated little street. The old man poked the imaginary weed with his cane as he sipped his slightly cooled coffee. Yummy.

The old man poked the imaginary weed with his cane as he sipped his slightly cooled coffee. Yummy. Was he...scared of her?! Okay, maybe she shouldn't have gotten right into his face like that but she had been worried. Worried that the collision might have...you know...hurt him. Well, at least he was alright. Sort of. A little confused, though, it seemed. Plus he hadn't really acknowledged her presence in any way yet. Or not in any nice way anyway.
Watching him fixing the dent, then suddenly - well, as suddenly as a man his age could - take out his cane and walk over to the bench she had just been sitting on, Alysson just stared after him for a moment. Right. Weirdo. She then took the weelchair and pushed it over to the bench, parking it on the side he was sitting on before taking a seat next to him again. "Sooo...you ARE alright then?" Alysson tried again with a friendly smile, scooting a little closer to him to make sure he heard her too. Maybe he was deaf or almost deaf and that was why he hadn't answered her before. |

"I'm f-fine, thank y-you," the elderly man said, stumbling over his words as he scooted away from her. He was still worried about his work situation, but Mysteries was the least of his worries right now. Over-friendly ladies definitely took the cake. Maybe the young woman was just trying be nice, which wouldn't be so unexpected after he nearly broke a phone booth. Sherman felt bad about being kind of mean, so he tried to make small talk. Which he was really bad at. But at least he was making an effort to be nice to scary lady. "What is your name?" He said, trying not to stutter again.
