Investigation people ^___^

So...it had been back to the lab to get his supplies again - slightly different ones this time. Much bigger vials and several dozen containers to collect larger samples along with swabs, rubber gloves, and essentially everything he could think of just in case. The only problem with this was that Aron had no idea where to even begin with samples. Just take a little of everything? People in that meeting had raised their eyebrows at him when he had suggested everyone offer a DNA sample as a safety precaution. Fiiiiiiiiiine, turn into a Drooler if you wanted to. Aron was just trying to make sure that they could 100% cross off the possibility of everyone being infected instead of just making assumptions.

Because we all know what happens when people make assumptions, yes? Ruddy honking daffodils the lot of them.

Adjusting the strap on his bag a little, Aron set it down on the counter and waited for the rest of the MLE team to show up when he noticed there was someone else there...

She ordered a strawberry friut smoothie and slurped on it while waiting for more people to show up.

DRINKING SOMETHING FROM THE CAFETERIA?!:whaa:

This woman needed a good dose of hellebore because she was clearly MAD for drinking anything from here. Leaving his things, Aron marched right up to her and snatched the smoothie right out of the woman's hands. "You really should not being drinking anything from here," he said with complete shock on his face while he promptly poured it into a container and sealed the lid tight after writing down the date and time on the outside. "We are closing down the cafeteria now to investigate it." Blue eyes back up and locked on the woman's features. "I'm going to need to take a DNA sample from you as well," he continued, swap and vial in his hand now. "So if you would please open your mouth..."

Where did this one work and WHY was she no nonchalantly drinking STUFF from HERE?!

CJP 11-23-2012 09:49 PM

Aron

Beijing winced as she took another sip of her smoothie, it tasted funny compaired to the one she had last time. All of a sudden, someone snatched her smoothie right out of her hand, she was caught of guard and jumped."Well you didn't have to snatch it though". Nobody had told this character not to order things from the food court, or was she just to stupid to realize the food might be contaminated? "How come? Is this why so many people have been sick lately?"She nodded her head as the man told her how the area would be closed down "Well I am here for the investigation two, there was a notice posted asking if anyone wanted to join it."The Human Reasources officer tried to stay calm amidst what seemed to be an interrigation, spazzing was not in her nature.

A DNA sample would be benificial after drinking that smoothie, Beijing had to make sure she wouldn't turn into a zombie! She opened wide, ready to be swabed.

sweetpinkpixie 11-24-2012 01:33 AM

"I believe I did given the current situation," he grumbled under his breath. He wasn't even sure he really wanted to answer her follow up questions. Wasn't it obvious that the reason they were in the cafeteria was because they were investigating the FOOD and that INCLUDED smoothies?! "Yes, well, typically when a place is under investigation for some sort of illness it is unwise to eat from it." That went without saying, did it not? "That is what we are here to find out...if it is connected. Thus far the results we've found seem to link those that have been infected with eating here." Now you are included Miss....

He would get a name later.

Swab out, Aron swiftly inserted it into her mouth and then stuck it in a vial and capped it before pulling out a label and writing the date and time on it. "Name?" He could find out the rest of her information later. Wes had told him not to focus on taking drool samples right now anyway.

Although now he was going to have to report that there might be another infected person. UG.

Esme had to admit that she was a bit disappointed that the de Talone case had been placed on the back burner, if you will. Of course, they had collected a large amount of evidence, but she did like to work with the evidence while the scene was fresh in her mind. Now this....yes, a zombie infestation certainly was a problem, but she couldn't help but think about de Talone's secret lab/library found under the shop

She moved further into the room and then stopped as she noticed Aron demanding a DNA sample from another worker. Her gaze moved from the swab he held to the half finished drink next to the girl. Oh boy.

Shifting her bag onto her shoulder, Esme nodded towards Aron once she caught his eye. "Might definitely want to get that checked out as soon as possible in the lab; wouldn't want any other nearby bystanders to become infected." She wasn't sure how this was all being spread but she planned to take no chances.

Just to get Dorian here before I'm busy over the weekend... :/

Apparently he had taken longer at the coffee cart than he'd thought, seeing as by the time Dorian had arrived down to the cafeteria, he noticed Aron already there and reprimanding a poor Ministry worker over her drink. Poor girl, he thought idly, taking several more steps into the area as he sipped from his coffee cup. At least he knew his wasn't contaminated, seeing as he hadn't gotten it down here. In fact, upon glancing at the menu posted over the juice bar, it didn't appear he would have been able to get it here anyhow. Maybe there was another good excuse not to have come down to visit when the food court had opened, aside from the possibility that most people who had done so were now being herded up to Level Two for quarantining. Odds were he, or someone, should smooth things over before this investigation veered off into arguments like had happened out in Hogsmeade, though. He certainly didn't want to risk bodily injury again just to break tension.

At least the infusion of caffeine had relaxed his muscles enough that the stiffness wasn't quite as apparent as he joined the small group. "Esme," he greeted the forensic investigator, giving her a nod, before turning his attention back to his CMECer and the poor woman being reprimanded. There had definitely been a point to confiscating the drink, but the rudeness wasn't exactly called for. Even though she had submitted to Aron's swab easily enough. "We can add this to the rest of the evidence, whether or not there's anything amiss here," he said calmly. "It isn't so much the results that led us here, either. It's the evidence. The only connection we've found, besides the fact all the infected people work here at the Ministry, is that they all visited here at one point or another and presumably partook in the food and drink available," he continued, making sure to emphasize the reason why things had started so badly. "Perhaps we should make sure to go outside this area if we get hungry or thirsty during the investigation. At least until we've determined that it isn't anything in this area?"

The juice bar, that was. Separating the field of investigation into zones was an appropriate plan of attack anyhow, as far as he knew. Esme could verify that if need be, and in any case, going about this all calmly would keep everything professional and, above all things, safe for the team.

"Yes, I guess that goes without saying". She watched him process the sample and gave him her name for the lable "Beijing Pain" she told him; with a flat, expressionless tone. "And where must I go to get results from the sample?" she asked.

Manolo nearly sprinted to the Juice Bar as soon as he got the message from his boss. He was ready for this investigation Miss Ella was talking about. He skidded to a stop and looked around. Ah, darn. He got here earlier than his boss. He took a seat and waited for Miss Ella and the bloodhounds.

Sees you DNA asking people

It'd been a slow day in his department, either that or most people just decided to skip work. If that was the case then why didn't he get the memo? Though he had no intention of absenting himself from work it still would've been nice to know that someone was thinking about him in their delinquency.

It was just as well. With this 'infection' going around it was better to be around as little people as possible which worked well for him.

Gavin walked up to the counter and ordered himself an apple juice to sip on but before he could stick the straw in he saw a man... harassing another employee. Yeah. That's what it looked like from where he was standing. "Is that what you lot do in your free time? Ensure others can't enjoy a good drink?" It just seemed like they could have found so many other things to do.

But then he heard them saying something about a connection to the drinks. "Really now?" Slowly he put the drink back on the counter...could he have his money back?

sarahlooo 11-25-2012 07:18 AM

After posting the notice on her bulletin board, Ella had rounded up two of her best albino bloodhounds (though all of them were trained equally well) and lead them down to the food court where the investigation was happening. The hounds were large, but very well trained, so they acted calmly around all the people they passed by. The dogs knew something was up as they walked into the food court, and one could see their noses sniffing the air as they walked through.

The dogs greeted him with some sniffs and licks to the hand. "Thank you for coming," she said. Ella snapped her fingers twice and the bloodhounds immediately sat down, wagging their tails as they waited for further instruction. But Ella was going to wait for Ferguson to get there, since he seemed to be in charge of the investigation.

Dacs strode in the cafeteria with a mission on her mind. Get this job done. She saw Aron, Esme and Dorian, she nodded toward them. Looking around at the various ministry employees, she saw a Department Head and went over to speak with them.

Dacs approached the woman and said,"Good day ma'am. I'm Antoni Dacosta, Chief Investigator of MLES. I'll be heading this investigation out of the DMLE office. Thank you for joining us." , she glanced down at the bloodhounds by her feet."Glad to have all hands and paws on deck."

She looked around at everyone, cleared her throat and spoke,"If I can have everyone's attention." she said, pausing bit,"If you are here to work on the investigation team thank you for coming. Now, a few things. Everyone needs to be wearing protective gloves. We don't know the actual nature of this contamination so we need to be very careful. Dorian, head of CMEC as well as Aron and Esme will be collecting samples. Aron is the DNA collector and Esme will be taking food samples. They will need help so, you can decide what you want to help with. We have bloodhounds to help sniff out whatever we can find thanks to Magical Creatures. Accidents and Catastrophe should be along to join us.If you find something strange, you can call Esme, Dorian or myself, to bag it and tag it. Don't touch it. If we can contain it then let's do just that. Any questions? If you don't have any right now and might have a few later, I'm all ears. Alright, spread out and be very cautious.Let's find out what's in our house." she finished and looked around at the men and women who were gathered there.

Granger1814 11-25-2012 04:59 PM

It wasn't long after she had arrived that Dacosta stepped onto the scene, first greeting a woman and then addressing the entire crowd. Food samples....got it. And she would have her own little team. That would work. Esme waved a hand as Dacs spoke her name just to let anyone unfamiliar to her know who she was.

Bloodhounds? She had never noticed any sort of animal within the Ministry and she had to admit that a team of hounds was actually pretty cool. How helpful they would be though...was another story.

Setting her kit on a nearby table, Esme reached inside and slipped on a pair of gloves. And then added another. One couldn't be too careful when dealing with the unknown.

Now she would wait to see if any volunteers approached. If not, then she'd simply begin her sampling. They could always join in later.

Persephone had barely set foot in her department before she saw the important notice on the board. Now she was following orders and that brought her to the juice bar. She noticed a few people milling around.

Upon receiving her new mission, Persephone changed clothing. She was wearing gray slacks and a lavender shirt, but now she was wearing a tight black outfit, made for sneaking around and investigating and a pair of black boots. She noticed a witch put on a pair of gloves. "Not a bad idea," she thought, and then reached into an infinitely large pocket at her side and pulled out a pair of leather gloves and her wand. She alternated hands as she slipped each into a glove. She was never confortable leaving her wand on any surface. It was either sheathed at her side or under her pillow.

Lezleighd 11-26-2012 07:08 PM

Iridesca clicked down to the Juice Bar...she felt odd because she didn't have a buddy for the buddy system. She had just returned from the International Magic Cooperation offices and just happen to notice the new announcement on the board in passing...and well no one was left in the cubicles so she had to find her way by herself down to the bar.

She walked cautiously up to the area and stood back a little bit since she didn't recognize many of the faces and tried to eavesdrop on the conversations, but alas, she was lost....events she understood...crisis....not so much...

Did he say gloves...what in the...she reached for a pair of gloves with her eyes very wide...did they need masks as well.."Sorry I just arrived...will we need masks as well...and where do you need the Minister's Office peeps to help?" she secretly hoped she would just give her the job of handing out gloves....

Melissa had returned to her office to pick up some gloves when she read the noticeboard instructing her unit to start investigating the Ministry's Food Court. She quickly rushed down and here she was now. She snapped on her gloves and looked to see who needed help.

Okay they were supposed to investigate the area. Where was she supposed to start. She spotted Aron and Esme both collecting samples and then the lady that she had met at the Employee's Orientation, Dacs started giving everyone instructions. Melissa listened and when Dacs told everyone to start working, Melissa made her way to Esme to see whether she needed her help. If not she could always ask Aron whether he needed help collecting more drool samples.

She approached Esme and asked,"Excuse me. I was wondering whether you need anyone to assist you? I would like to volunteer to help."

AND THANK MERLIN Esme was on the side of cautious when it came to this. Where was she in this meeting, hmm? SORRY for wanting to be sure.

Wait....huh?

His orders had changed? Aron was under the impression that he wasn't supposed to be focusing on taking DNA samples anymore but taking food samples now. At least that is what Wes had seemed to have implied in the office...

So, Aron looked like a complete shrivel fig with his arm in the air in recognition of his name and notice the lack of his name present when it came to question asking. Holding a grudge much Dacs, hmm?

Slowly and subtly, Aron approached Dacs and lowered his voice. "Dacs, I'm not here to collect DNA samples...Wes said so in his office. My focus is supposed to be on the food..." See, he wasn't taking a tone with her nor was he being overly confrontational. JUST stating the facts from earlier. Going against the Head Cabbage's request would be counter productive, no?

for anyone, but mostly Sarah xD

It had been hard to tear herself away from her dragons, but Hershey McKenna loved a good mystery, and if anything THIS was pretty mysterious right? Some kind of weird zombie disease had spread about the Ministry, and she was curious about it. Her father always cautioned her that 'curiosity killed the cat' but she wasn't a cat, and she was curious.

After the MLE lady spoke, Herhsey glanced around. She spotted her Department Head among the others who were gathered about, so she figured that was the best place to start. Hershey smiled at the woman and OOHH PUPPIES! But.. they were here to work, so regardless of how cute they were, Hershey didn't pet them. "Hello Boss Lady." She greeted the woman, "What are we up to?" Cause.. she saw lots of MLErs and one other person from Creatures, but not many others. She leaned back on her heels and sneakily glanced around.

Were they gonna sample HER DNA too? Cause... that was pretty COOL.

The ghostly alley cat dashed into the juice bar area, stopped for a minute to search out it's target, then started twining around the various pairs of legs to it's destination. Once it reached the man in question, it conveniently placed itself between him and the woman he was speaking to, almost as if it knew what was about to happen (which, of course, it didn't). After shooting a 'cat glare' at the woman, it patted the man with it's paw to get his attention, then delivered it's message. "Aron, may we have a copy of your list of the infected up here on level 2? Might be easier rounding them up if we know who we're looking for." And with it's message delivered, the alley cat patronus shot another 'cat glare' at the woman, then faded away.

Esme shot a quick smile at Aron as he agreed with her statement, only adding that he had to get the rest of the samples from the area first. Of course, that made perfect sense. Couldn't very well take individual samples and bring them to the lab; that was obviously way too time consuming. "Of course. Can't disappoint the boss."

She waggled the fingers of one gloved hand before speaking again. "Sorry I can't shake but the equipment makes it a little difficult. I"m Esme, by the way."

She pulled out a few small Petri-like dishes and a set that included tweezers and a small device that would allow for cutting pieces of food if they were connected to a large piece.

"We'll be using this to collect the samples. Oh, and...." She rummaged in the bag again, pulling out a dropper this time. "Tweezers for food samples and dropper for the drink sample. Collect each and place the individual sample on the dish and make sure the cover is tightly closed. There's some little labels on top that you can write on, to say what type of food or drink that the sample is from, and also if it was frozen or not frozen, or any other characteristics that you think may be important."

Esme paused, looking up with a slightly sheepish look. "Got that? Sorry if I went a little fast."

"Hello Esme, I'm Melissa," Melissa introduced herself and smiled back in return She was glad that Esme was more than willing to accept her help. She watched as Esme started pulling out Petri dishes and tweezers and droppers and something that looked like it was used for cutting up stuff, while at the same time giving her instructions on what to do with them.

"Yep. Got that. Dropper to be used for anything liquid. Tweezers for food. Place samples in Petri dish. Make sure that I secure the lid. Write on the label what the sample is and where I got it from and whether they were frozen or not. Did I miss anything out?" Melissa repeated the instructions back to Esme.

"No need to apologize. I have a sixteen year old who talks a whole lot faster than you, so I've had plenty of practice understanding her when she's on a roll." Melissa grinned back at Esme before realizing belatedly that now wasn't the time to be joking around. They all had a job to do.

She quickly took the equipment from Esme, balancing everything with both hands, while trying not to drop them in the process. "I know that time is of the essence, so I'll start collecting samples now." and was about to walk away when a thought entered her mind and she turned around to ask.

"Uh...do I only collect samples in this area, or should I collect samples from the entire food court?" she asked Esme

Adding her name to the label, Aron glanced up at her when she spoke. "You'll hear from us, don't worry," he replied. So there was no need for her to go anywhere. And if she was infected, well, someone would come to physically collect her and put her in the room with the rest of the droolers.

"Ohkay" she agreed, as Aron told her about the results.

On her way out of international magical cooporation, she had seen the exact same notice. Assuming that it applied to any employee who noticed it, she had headed to the juice bar to see if that was true. "I'm am from the Minister for Magic's office too, and I am willing to help with the investigation" she proclaimed.

Beijing was going to have to watch how much coughing and sneezing she did, now that many people had seen her drink a smoothie and get swabbed she did not want to end up helping by being the test guinny pig of the crew. So if she began dribbeling, she would try her hardest to hide it.

Waiting for Dacs to clear up the...erm...whatever it was that had just happened since he was now getting conflicting thoughts, he was a bit startled when a silvery cat suddenly appeared in front of him and pawed him for attention. Holy holly was he getting a lot of these things sent at him these days. If people weren't careful he would start thinking he was important.

Oh wait...heh. No comment.

Recognizing Roxanne's voice, Aron rubbed the back of his neck and rummaged through his bag for his clipboard which....of course wasn't in this bag because this was just his supply bag. He carefully documented everything once he was back in the office because doing so now took away from sample taking. UG.

"I'll be right back." Because if they didn't have the list then that team couldn't do it's job. Esme was still here, so work would get done. No need to worry there.

Walking past Esme, he caught her gaze again and then gave a nod towards the Beijing Pain woman. "Keep an eye on that one. She just drank a smoothie from here," he said with a subtle eye roll. "I already took a DNA sample from her, but now Level 2 needs my list and I only have that in the office." So...he needed to make a quick trip back there. "I'll be back as soon as I can." Because he was uneasy about some of these, erm, slighly inexperienced people dealing with sample collecting when the two of them had firm backgrounds in magical forensics.

Offering her another small nod, Aron left the cafeteria for the time being and back towards level two.

"It's great to meet you Melissa." The dark haired woman answered as introductions were made. "You're a brave soul." She kidded with a wink. "But I'm glad you volunteered; everyone is missing out on the fun."

She laughed lightly as Melissa spoke of her sixteen year old. Oh yes....she could about imagine. She had no children of her own, but the visual wasn't difficult to picture. "Great to know that, won't have to make much of a conscious effort to slow my speech, and...yes, you have it perfectly." She added, making sure that she confirmed the instructions with the woman.

Bending her head to gather her own dishes from the depths of the bag, Esme glanced back up at Melissa's question. "Hmm...I think we'll eventually get to the entire area, but let's concentrate on the juice bar first." She suggested.

"Of course. Not a problem." She returned his nod and then allowed her gaze to sweep the bar. Where to begin?

Another quick glance towards the woman who had consumed a bit of smoothie. As long as she didn't start drooling or exhibiting other strange signs.....

Ella nodded at Dacosta when she mentioned her name and the bloodhounds. She and Manolo had done some good training with the dogs recently and they were ready to go. She just hoped whatever the source of this infection was something the dogs could detect. If not, she just hoped everyone else knew what they were doing.

As soon as they were good to go, Ella found one of her employees by her side. Boss Lady? Ella found that... amusing. "Hello, Ms. McKenna, glad to see you showed up." She wasn't entirely sure what a Dragonologist could do to help, but like she said before, all help was needed. "We're about to let the dogs sniff out the place for whatever might be causing the infection." Surely she knew about that, right?

"Are you ready, Manolo?" Since the bloodhounds were just itching to get to work, Ella thought it was about time. "Hershey, if you would like, you can follow us and the dogs around. Unless you have other ideas."

Dacs who was pulling gloves her ow field kit looked up when Aron approached her."Then what were you doing when I got here? Just finish collecting whatever and then help Esme out. Any other questions you have, think about it before you ask. If you can't come with an answer that won't slap me or yourself later, you find me." she said to him, as she slipped on the gloves.

OOC: I'm expanding the evidence collection to the Main Buffet, anyone who wants to join Dacs is very welcome.

He walked up to his boss, "Ready, miss." He positioned himself next to a bloodhound, petting it slightly.
