And it was Cassandra's turn once again. She turned her attention to those few candidates who had questions left, offering them a polite smile and a nod. They were drawing to a close very soon, and she hoped everyone felt they'd said everything they desired. She appreciated the brevity of Andrew Rose's answer. He said his piece and didn't feel the need to over explain. Honestly, trying to explain away missing an event was almost worse than missing it. Better to shoulder up under it and move on. "Mr. Rose, do you feel it is important to be at the school at all times or just on an as-needed?" And another thing she appreciated was a candidate who didn't lie. Lourdes Black didn't pretend like she would toe the party line unfailingly, but rather that she'd prioritize her responsibilities. "Ms. Black, what qualities do you feel the board should have to make them a successful group?" NOTE: Questions will be closed at 6PM EST on 23 February, at which time we will post polls to select our top three candidates. We'll post questions for you as often as possible, but please be aware of this timeline. Questions: - For Cooper Cope: If some of the ideas you had for the school required funding, how do you think the Board should raise that money? - For Sherman Clark: How much input should the Board of Governors have in the curriculum at Hogwarts? - For Lourdes Black: What qualities do you feel the board should have to make them a successful group? - For Corineus Vanderbilt: You’ve stated before that you’re not happy with the way things are done in relation to the running of the school and its safety policies, what would you do differently if elected? - For Andrew Rose: Do you feel it is important to be at the school at all times or just on an as-needed? - For Atticus Aldredge: How far are you willing to go to ensure that you receive a position on the Board of Governors? General questions for those who haven't answered as of yet: Q1. Why do you feel you are more qualified for this position than the other candidates? Q2. If a personal or professional situation arose at the same time as an equally important situation arose in the school, which would you deem more important to attend to first, and why? Q3. If you were to be elected onto the board, what would you ensure becomes a priority as far as the long term plans of the Board are concerned? Q4. Do you feel it is important as a board member to work along side of the professors and keep them in the know of everything going on or do you feel the board should be separate? Q5. Would you consider to be important for a School Governor to be in contact with the students in any way? Why or why not? |

Well, big respect for stating that it all had to be above board. Charles gave the man (Atticus) a nod after shooting Rose a glance for his earlier answer about not being at the other parts of this campaign. "Mr. Aldredge, ideally, what role do you believe parents should take in the betterment of Hogwarts? How would you involve them?" Good question, yup, yup. Good answer from Rose there, Merlin, why did everything sound like a commentary in his head? Ugh. Right, mov on. Next question. "Mr. Rose, what would you say your life's priority is? Would it influence in any way your job as a Governor if you are voted into the board?" His life's priority? Good question, but wasn't it kind of personal? Standing up to the front of the stage again, he nodded politely toward the questioner, before looking out toward the crowds. "How many of you out there have children?" He waited for a show a hands, before going on. "Very well then. I, too, have a son. Fourteen. And as a father, I believe my life's priority is to make sure my son is safe and secure, but also that he gets the same quality of education that I received, if not better. I would go to the moon and back for my son, as I am sure many of you with children would as well. So as Governor, my interests in making sure my son has a safe and secure, quality education, would influence my actions in making sure I do what I can for Hogwarts. For all children, as if they were my own." |
Definitely a good answer! Charles nodded respectfully to Rose and looked down at his cards. Well, he had one more question for this man. "Mr. Rose, your final question is, do you support the media's desire to have the public be informed about all that's happening with the members of the Board as well as the running of the Board itself?" Basically, will you let them be nosy and poke around your life and that of your colleagues and question every decision made at Hogwarts by the BoG? Lourdes stood up for her turn and walked to the front of the stage. She had a smile again, but she wasn't tired of it. They were all genuine smile, like she was glad to finally be back to the Ministry. It made her more confident about being in front, and answering questions. "I feel that the board should have certain qualities to be successful. The most important would be teamwork and unity. The board of governors is a group, and without teamwork and unity, there will be no unanimous decision. Aside from teamwork, there must be commitment and dedication to the board. Before the debates took place, all of us signed that we agreed to take on the responsibilities given to us if we are elected. There also must be willingness and enthusiasm to help serve the students and the people of Hogwarts. That one is another important quality a board member should possess. There are also other qualities a member of the board should have like lending an ear to others, listening to their concerns and their final says, positive thinking as well as patience and active involvement." That was probably enough, so Lourdes stopped. She gave a nod to the audience and a smile as well. "Thank you." Two more questions and she was done. Lourdes made her way back to her original place and took her seat, back straight. |
"Ms. Black," Charles began, considering how best to put this so it did look like he was listening. "You've mentioned that the board is all about teamwork and unity, keeping this in mind, what relationship do you believe Hogwarts, the Ministry, and the Board should have with each other?" Her eight question was asked by, once again, International Cooperation's Charles Taylor. The relationship between Hogwarts, the Ministry, and the Board, it was kind of the same with the previous question asked by the other Gavin earlier. It was another interesting question, as always. Lourdes went in front of the stage again. She wondered if her campaign manager was there, watching her. She didn't see Doctor Heiderich when she had entered the venue though. Maybe he was just lost in the crowd. Anyway... her question. "I believe the relationship between Hogwarts, the Ministry, and the Board should have a steady relationship considering that Hogwarts is within the UK. Some events may also happen because of the relationship between the three, like this debate being held in the Ministry of Magic and may also be sponsored by the Board and Hogwarts. The debate in Hogsmeade was also sponsored by the Hogwarts Debate Team consisted of the students and a head professor. Hogwarts and the Board should also take into consideration rules that the Ministry has imposed just like what Miss Schirmer, or rather Professor Schirmer said earlier about the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Also there are students who, after graduation, decide to apply for a job here at the Ministry so I guess the relationship between the Board, the Ministry, and Hogwarts is important." It wasn't as long as her first answers but it was good. Lourdes was satisfied by her answer and she didn't want to bore the audience with her novel-length answers. "Thank you." Lourdes smiled. One more question to answer and Lourdes was through. She made her way back to her seat to sit down. |
If he said that hadn't been a surprise, he would have been lying. Charles had never heard anyone quite so eager to have their life to be laid out like the pages of a book. However, it wasn't for him to judge right here. "Thank you, Mr. Rose." Time was running out, so he said nothing about asking other candidates questions; the man still could, but it was common sense now. He nodded understandingly as Black explained her thoughts of the question and took a breath before asking her final question. "Ms. Black, this is your final question, and as the Department Head for Games and Sports, it seems very appropriate. Some believe Quidditch breeds unhealthy house divisions and competitiveness. Do you agree or disagree and why?" He asked, his chocolate brown eyes focused on the woman. Seth was still watching rather interested as the candidates kept answering questions, some more enthusiastically than others. That was a lovely day, in his opinion. Debates could be very good, and this one was definitely a good one! "Thank you very much, Mr Vanderbilt." The 46 year-old man, of course, gave him a nod and a polite smile. He still had one last question for him. "Now, why do you feel you will make a good board member?" He asked, looking at the candidate right after checking the cards he was holding. The debate was drawing to a close, and Cassandra once again had to rise to her feet and address the crowd gathered for their debate. She didn't mind it... perhaps she was best suited to giving that address. "Ladies and gentlemen, that brings our debate to a conclusion today. I want to thank you for your patience with us today, and I would like to thank the candidates for their participation." There was now a box set up near the door, and Cassandra indicated it with a pointed finger. "Please remember to cast a ballot for the three candidates you feel gave the best answers today and that will best serve as a member of the Board of Governors." |
