Describe her wand. Victoria took a step closer in order to be heard clearer and spoke. "It's ebony wood. Phoenix feather core. And 12¼inches long." Memorized by heart. Is she done or anything else? |
Quote:
"13½ inches, silver lime wood and unicorn hair core." Or... was the length really necessary? Heh, he knew absolutely nothing about this whole security thing. |
Aaron made his way over to the MoM Orientation, slowed down by his annoying crutches and Mmmkay. Aaron shook the thought of the head-looking machine out of his head and looked to see what others were doing. AH. Name lists. Of course. He scribbled his name down, trying to make it look nice. He had a legit job now, so he had to have nice handwriting and all that. Quote:
Aaron copied what everyone else was doing again and took his wand out of his pocket, it seeeemed like this new machine wasn't scary. Just a wand checker. |

"If you're sure..." Her smirk didn't leave her face as she took a few steps back. "See you inside then." Or, maybe not. Who knows. |

Not quite understanding why her wand was required, Penny eyed the man before handing it over. Not a cautious glance, but a curious one. "Here's my wand," she said, handing it to him. "Hazel with phoenix feather core. Ten and three quarters inches." And then for good measure she added, "Apparently it's reasonably supple," remembering what she had been told when she first got her wand. "May I ask why my wand is required?" |
Yvonne made her way to the employee orientation a bit non too happy. She had just gotten married --cue beautiful ring on her left ring finger-- and the last place she wanted to be was away from her husband, but duty called and she wasn't about miss anything. After signing the clipboard, Yvonne put the non-matching name tag on her and took her wand out. Her fingers were already feeling itchy at the thought of handing her precious wand over to someone else, but by the looks of it it was Simon, a YATI, in charge of weighing wands. That was good. She trusted people in her department, not that she had a problem with others. It was just...this was her wand. Her baby. SPOILER!!: Clipboard |
It felt like Persephone hadn't been to the Ministry of Magic for ages. She'd had her own special assignment with her fellow Americans, and hadn't been back to England since. She stepped up to the clipboard and scribbled her name. Quote:
Wand-weighing was standard operating procedure at most magical institutions in the United States, so she didn't have any qualms parting ways with her wand. At 8 1/2 inches, it was fairly short, but the ash wand with a dragon heartstring core served her well over the years. She wished she could use it now to shorten the line and actually enter the party. |

"What's this for? You're checkin' if i'm lyin' to ya? Huh." It was.. strange, if you asked him. But.. he had a hard time dealing with the fact that not everyone thought the way he did and that some people might steal other people's wands. Awful, really. "That there in yer hands is a birch wand with a thestral tail core. Ya need to know that length?" He didn't wait for a response. "It's 13.2 inches." Merlin, these machines were odd and oh so unfamiliar. It was temporarily distracting him from his choice in clothing for the evening. |
SPOILER!!: Victoria Simon took notice of her moving closer but it didn't alarm him to anything being off. Just a matter of absent movement. He listened as she give the information he requested, nodding as it all checked out. "It is indeed," the YATI spoke, removing the dark wood wand from the wand weigher and handing it polished back to its rightful owner. "There you are. Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Konrad He kept his attention on the man out of politeness since it was rude not to see the person you were speaking to. Only glancing down as the results of the test were completed and satisfactory. "You're all set," Simon said retrieving the wand before holding it out for the man. SPOILER!!: Aaron Speciality Area...that was a new one. Or so Simon mused as he chanced a glance at the sign-in sheet after his next customer signed in. The groan brought him back and cause a slightly raised eyebrow. Someone was bothered. Nevertheless the man's wand was handed over to him and he accepted it. "Thank you." With the practice of having being doing it all day, the auror trainee put the wand in the weigher before returning his attention to his companion in front of him. "Please state for me the characteristics of your wand." SPOILER!!: Penny Simon nodded at her introduction even though it wasn't much needed as she had already signed in. Another one not quite sure with handing her wand over which clearly spoke new to the ministry as the task was an everyday occurance when one arrived usually. "Thank you," he stated simply as it was given however, the YATi sending it through the wand weigher which confirmed all was well. "Its simply a security protocol to make sure everything is right as its said to be," he explained moving to hand back her wand. "And you're all set. Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Yvonne He was back in rotation and facing another MLEr once more as the next woman stepped up to the desk when it was her turn. Practiced, she went through procedure and finally took her wand out and Simon accepted it in stride. "Please describe your wand," he instructed however as he slipped it inside the wand weigher, seeing as she hadn't readily given up the information at first. SPOILER!!: Persephone "Next..." Simon said calling up the next person on the queue. The woman in question answered with movement, signing in and putting on one of the name-tags provided for the event. He couldn't help wonder just a second on what number that would make her having already dealt with so many. "Good day," he greeted politely before holding out his hand for her wand. "Your wand please. And then describe its characteristics." SPOILER!!: Dexter He watched the man backtrack in steps, moving to sign in after handing over his wand. It didn't much matter here or there as long as they did all that they needed to do. "More like simply make sure all is as it should be. No charmed or cursed wands either." That was a good reason as any and didn't make it seem like employees werent trusted. Simon listened as the description was needed, about to answer the older man's question when he himself just plowed on. Everything matched up and the YATI retrieved the wand to hand it back. "There you are. Good day sir." |

Erm... "Thank you. Have a nice day," Konrad said with a slight nod when he took his wand, before making his way inside, even if he didn't truly feel like going. Heh, he didn't even know what he was doing there, and yet there he was. |

Nick walked into the Ministry, as he has been here before on several occasions when the Minister of the United States needed him to do something very important here. He walked upto the Security Checkpoint and grabbed the clipboard and wrote the following on the next available line: Name: Nicholas Potter Department: International Cooperation After Nick filled out the information on the Clipboard he set it back upon the table and went to the back of the line and waited. |
Penny nodded to the man as she accepted her wand back. "Oh. Alright then," she said cheerfully with a smile. She could see merit in protocol and thoroughness, although she also thought it was more valuable to have trust in people. With a nod, Penny added, "Have a great day." And with that, she took off, not quite sure what she would do now. |
Quote:
"It's 10.5 inches, vine wood with a serpent scale as a core," she said. "It's pretty stern, too," she added just in case he needed the quality of her wand. That and she didn't mind showing it off. *grin* |
Quote:
He nodded again as his wand was handed to him, and slipped it back into the holster on his arm before leaning over to reach for his other wand, concealed in a holster around his calf. Since he didn't have boots on to tuck it inside this time, he'd had to adjust. "I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't willing," he pointed out, handing the second wand over even as he shifted to slide the folded license out of his pocket. Just in case, although he trusted another MLEer to know everything was legal. "Hawthorn, 13.5 inches, core of dragon heartstring, sturdy," he added. No need to make things even more difficult than they already were. |
New place, new work. This is something new. Although he has been through one of these wand weighing stuff and he sure knows how it is protocol sometimes. So he walked up to the checkpoint and waited for his turn. After awhile, it finally became his turn. He then grabbed the quill and wrote his name. Quote:

"11.2", Butterfly silk core, Elm with a blue ink wrap..." she said proudly...yes it was completely eclectic like her...the butterfly silk core was something that ran in her family and the blue ink coloring obviously matched her in every way. |
Kitty Percy waltzed towards the security checkpoint. She tossed her candy into a garbage can nearby and made sure that it hit. She saw that there was some dirty napkins lying next to the can. How filthy. Then she approached the checkpoint and said in a cheerful voice "Hello! The famous singer Kitty Percy is about to grace this place." |
The hungry But that was insurmountably nothing compared to the deliciousness of her bounty of candy. She was hugging the bucket to her when she made it to the check in table. And now she was going the opposite direction. The poor manperson was still standing. Brain smelling delicious - she simply smiled a crooked and somewhat sheepish smile and the human - the girl inside of the zombie spoke up. "Sorry I tried to attack you last term" she lifted the candy toward the man but still kept it close to her. She was possessive of her candy. It was her PRIZE for being awesome. "Want some? I won it...it's freee" she wiggled the bucket around. All it needed to do was change into a bucket full of brains. Chocolate covered - fresh (which was the BEST of the BEST), curried-dried brains, and any way you could prepare and keep it fresh and delicious tasting for EVER would be perfect. After all, brain was her favorite. |
SPOILER!!: Persephone "Thank you," Simon said with a polite smile as his requests were answered with no trouble at all. He first took the offered wand and pliced it through the wand-weigher, watching as the results soon unfolded as he listened to the wand's owner describe it. Sure enough, one ash wand with dragon heartstring was what he had temporarily in his possession. "And you're all set," he told her, retrieving the wand and returning it to her. "Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Nick "Next..." Simon waited for the next person in the queue to respond to his summons. The call was answered by a man not too much older then himself who took the quill that rested there and signed in on the clipboard. "Good day," he greeted politely waiting to see the next move and when nothing happened the YATI slipped into routine. "May I please have your wand..." he instructed holding out his hand to accept it. "And then tell me about it." SPOILER!!: Yvonne If Simon noticed how his collegue may have seemed fidgity about being separated from her wand, he made no outward show of it. He wouldn't understand it either. Only a few moments would pass and it wasn't like he was gonna snap it. He listened to her description of the item and on glancing at the results cooked up by the weigher, noticed the proof that everything was as expected. Removing the wand, Simon held it out for the woman to take. "There you are...enjoy your day." He certainly wasn't. Where was that Josh? SPOILER!!: Dorian It seemed Dorian was trying to make him feel better about the situation he was in and Simon appreciated it. He just didn't hope the division head had the wrong idea and he wanted to shirk a responsibility given to him by their department head himself. "Um...don't get me wrong. I don't mind it," he said to the elder man who was technically his senior in the department as well. "Just might have been nice to switch off with someone through the day." Little change of scenery never hurt someone. And even the wand weighers in security who did it normally did it in shifts, he himself had only been excused for short bouts of a few moments at a time. But enough of that, he was being handed the man's back up and like before, ran it through the machine. Right as rain as expected and he was soon returning that one to him as well. "There...all set." SPOILER!!: Man So far so good. No mishaps even though he had thought that perhaps there might have been one person annoyed by the task he placed before them. Might have broken up the routine but oh well. "Good day," he greeted the man who presented himself next in line. "May I please have your wand to check," the YATI instructed holding out his hand to take it. "And then I will need for you to describe the characteristics of it as well." The lines were becoming common place over time. SPOILER!!: Iridesca Ah a rather polite one they had here. A change of pace though it wasn't as if people had been rude. The woman before him was just overly cheery and nice. Was that a wink? Naaah. Simon nodded as he listened to her description having noticed the blue treatment that had been done. Certainly an interesting wand for an...interesting person. The results still matched so whatever was there didn't matter much in the long run and Simon retrieved the wand from the machine. "Here you go. Have a nice day." SPOILER!!: Kitty The next person certainly made an entrance into the scene. "Hello," Simon greeted simply, his eyebrow raised slightly at the young woman's words. "Is that so? Well I still need to see you wand, Ms Percy," he said trying not to think of her as a little off. What department had she wound up in? Or was this some kind of show or entertainment? "And then please sign in your name and department on the sign-up sheet before describing your wand to me." SPOILER!!: Kyle Simon was about to call next when Kyle appeared back at the wand weighing station. She looked a tad different from when he had last seen her not too long before and he couldn't help but wonder why. And what was that smell? "Um...its okay Kyle. You already appologized. I'm just glad you're alright." He wondered if the scribe was struggling with herself and her actions and trying to continue making amends because she didn't feel she had done enough in appology. And now she was offering a peace offering of sorts, the description of which must have meant she had won one of the raffles he had heard people talking about. "Sure," he said, willing to appease her though noticing something else seemed off. Was she okay? His hand went out to accept the offered piece unaware of any worries he might need to have. "Um...is everything okay?" |

She gave him a loopy smile and then with a little laugh she leaned forward and spoke. "I nearly went fwoooooosh through the wall" she nodded and looking down it happened. One second she was talking and laughing and being a normal non-zombie girl and the next moment the zombie had taken the reins and had guided her head just a few more inches down opened her mouth and closed it on something soft and fleshy. Soft fleshy and warm....and oddly enough it tasted like iron. And her teeth having that super-sharp newness that they had developed that day it wasn't like she was used to them. She would have bitten the chunk of thumb straight off if it hadn't been for that pesky bone. Why did the bone have to be there she could have enjoyed her hand in piece. It took a moment to realize she was screaming incoherently and almost as quickly as she had bitten him she'd dropped his hand out of her mouth on the spot and proceeded to vomit into her box of candy. Ewwwww. She made a frowny face at the loss of the candy and glanced at Simons hand. Her face now ashen. "Episky" she pointed her wand at the bitten hand and gave a sheepish look - the spell didn't work but she wasn't going to stand around to be attacked by a mob with pitchforks and wands and evilness on their minds. She was no science experiment - maybe she was a failed one she didn't know. "Sorry" she wined as she dropped the bucket onto the floor and ducked into the crowd. She didn't go far - really, she just ducked under the table and began to hug her knees. |

Simon/Kat ;) Was he late? He did not know but he did not seem to be in a hurry either. This was just an orientation thing, right? That meant he did not need to hurry, right? Eh...he was not sure but he did not mind. Also he did not seem to be caring about what he was wearing to this orientation either as he had his favourite dark red t-shirt and concrete gray jeans on. His new wand was in the belt holster he had next to the gleaming MLE badge. He walked into the security area and took his place in the line with a careless expression. Once he was able to, he took the quill and signed his name. Quote:
Bwahahahahaha... Yeah, he could not help laughing. He seemed very busy with...things and...whoops was he supposed to be here earlier doing this too? He looked around if he was going to see the boss. Was he in trouble again for being late? |
Rearranging a little--Help! Zombie bite SPOILER!!: Nick "Thank you Mr. Potter," Simon said accepting the offered wand and acknowledging the introduction. He would stick with the formality at this time seeing as he was technically on the job and a position of some meager authority...even temporarily. Turning his attention ever so slightly, he send it through the wand-weigher, patiently awaiting the results. When they came back positive in connection to the given wand description, the YATI retrieved the wand and handed it back. "There you are. Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Him "Its alright," he assured the man as he appologized. It wasn't like he could assume everyone would just follow along and either know what to do or just duplicate the actions of those around them. Simon accepted the wand and placed it within the maching, listening as his companion's words continued on. "Yep...one 13" redwood, phoenix feather wand," he confirmed as he took it back out and returned it to its rightful owner. "All set. Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Kyle Simon unconsciously winced as Kyle described her near-adventure. Though that certainly didn't bode well in the right department if he didn't already know she was more than a little on the clumsy side. She didn't fall purposefully everytime he was around there to save her. He was expecting a piece of candy, what he was was certainly not that...food didn't usually hurt and marked by a friend's teeth. "OWW!" Okay so as an auror you usually weren't one to show pain. However the bite was so sudden...so unexpected...and on some rather sensative finger flesh (not to mention pretty deep) that he hadn't been able to keep quiet about the feeling. And was it just him or were her teeth reallllly sharp? he questioned himself as he wrapped a cloth around his finger and applied pressure. The next moment Kyle was screaming and getting sick into her raffle prize and Simon was torn from concern on his own well-being to his friend's. His hands slightly outreached again and it was then he heard her healing spell and felt a tingle but nothing more. Likely too excited to cast properly. Simon reached for his wand to do it himself when he heard his nickname being called from the line, his head turning to see if it confirmed the arrival of someone he had been waiting for. SPOILER!!: Josh And there....there Josh was looking all smug there and laughing and waving as he approached the table asking him how he was. Simon glanced at his watch only to see it getting late and his friend having obviously taken his time getting her."Hello to you too. Not particularly at the moment. Here...." Simon said coming up around the station and pulling his best friend back around with his uninjured hand. "You're turn to work here now. I have to see to Kyle...and stop this bleeding." Yep...Kyle had broken skin. Now where exactly had she gone to? "Kyle....?" He called out to try and get her attention, the cloth back wrapped around his finger with pressure to stem the injury. If he couldn't see it well he couldn't heal it well. |
