Gabriela smiled. "Thank you," she said as she took her wand from the man's hand. Now on to important matters--finding Armen. She was just bursting with agitation at the whole Hufflepuff situation, she was going to scream if she couldn't complain soon! She pocketed her wand and made her way past security and in to the event. |
Step one, line up and sign the clip board. Beijing took the quill and signed her name below Manolo. J. Black's, then wrote that she was from the Minister for Magic's Office. After setting the quill down for the next person, she moved forward in line to where nametags were layed out."Oh, nametags. Nice" she said, picking up hers and slinging it around her neck. Alright, step three. Time to get my wand weighed, she thought. Beijing smoothed out her dress."Hello" she said, approaching the man and handing over her wand. "It's an Elder with a Pegasus Wing Feather" she said "thirteen inches". |
SPOILER!!: Victoria "So far so good," Simon said with a polite smile, patiently awaiting her answer to his question. With a nod as he checked out the connection and saw that what she said matched the read-out, the YATI handed the wand back to her. "Thank you. All set." He was ready to watch her leave so he could move onto the next when she threw a stone into the works and asked for assistance on where to go next. "Um..." he mused thinking as he looked around. Simon hadn't seen much of the area to know what was what before being pulled into his current task. "I don't believe there is any set way of doing things. Though perhaps the meet and greet might be a good place to start," he suggested pointing over to the appropriate area. Thank goodness he could see any notations from a distance to help him out. SPOILER!!: Jade "You're welcome." Well that was one successful transaction down and one less he had to deal with at the moment. "Next please..." Simon said awaiting the next employee to approach him and the wand-weighing table. SPOILER!!: Manolo For once the person who came up to him seemed to be younger then his 20+years. Certainly a newcomer to the ministry but that wasn't a bad thing by any means. The sir directed his way would certainly take some getting used to though and Simon couldn't help but wonder if anyone would be new in his department this time around. "Good day," he returned in kind. "Your wand please," he instructed holding out his hand slightly to accept it. SPOILER!!: Beijing Alright...next one up and ready. The woman came up and signed in, grabbed a name tag that changed to her name and finally was before him for the last task at hand. "Hello," Simon echoed taking in hand the wand handed over to him. "Alright," he said with a nod as she described its characteristics, the YATI sending the wand through the weigher to check everything over. "Well it all check out so your good to go." With that being said, Simon returned the wand to its rightful owner. |
New year, new ministry. Gia was excited to be here, make no mistake. She had legit lived in Italy her whole life. She did love it there, but a break was needed. Besides, she needed to get put more, and explore her horizons! Not that she has problems with that kind of stuff or anything. Purse slung over her shoulder, she click-clacked along past the golden gates, heading towards the employee orientation check-in. By the looks of it, this shouldn't be much different than back at the Italian ministry! Same old drill: hand in your wand and you're ready to go!! Stepping in the line for checking, she slips imbed herself in on the queue, and picked up a name tag. In her elegant script, she signed: Giacinta "Gia" Barbieri Accidents and Catastrophes The line went quicker than Gia expected, prompting her to pull out her wand. Slipping her wand out of her holster in an ever-so-careful manner, she presented it to the wand weigher. "Hullo! I'm Giancinta Barbieri." GRIN. She could just feel the excitement!! "Abelia, Peacock feather core, 12 1/2 inches." |

"It's a 12 1/2" Ash with dragon heartstring...unyielding I believe..." The perfect wand for him. "Is there anything else you'd like to know?" Like how many spells it casts daily, or how's about the case it sleeps in? No? |
Caedwyn didn't mind standing in line, mostly because she enjoyed trying to figure out where new people worked and waving at those she knew. It was a shame she was too far back to say hello to Wes, but by the time she stepped to the front of line, one of those nice YATI gentlemen was taking wands. She handed hers over before putting her information on the clipboard. Quote:

Text Cut: Simon Manolo took his most prized object out from his coat pocket and handed it over. "Here you go." He paused while he remembered his wand's characteristics. "It's 11 inches and Mahogany, as I recall." |

Beaming as she looked around the place, Cora took her place in line to sign in and do the wand weighing thing. This was so exciting! She officially felt like she belonged here in England, as she'd hoped she would, now that she had a job at the Ministry and thus had a place in the Wizarding World here. Exactly what she wanted. Once she the line moved up enough to allow her to reach the clipboard, she pocked it up and signed herself in. Quote:

Here We Go! First day at the British Ministry. Saul came to the back of the line dragging a terribly broken Unicycle with him. He himself didn't look to pleasant either, He tried for his 35th attempt at mastering his flying unicycle on his way here. He made it about 5 minutes before flipping upside down and plummeting to the ground, wrecking his bike and dirtying his clothes. He peeked his head out from the back of the line to see just how many more people were in front of him before he came to the front. He watched as one older fellow stepped away from the desk and put someone else in charge of the line as well. How very unprofessional abandoning his post and forcing someone from the line to do his work. Who was that man? After a while Saul made his way to the front and looked down at the clipboard. He leaned his broken Unicycle against the desk gave the guy behind the desk a very poor and awkward smile. Taking the quill Saul signed his name and ministry position down on the list Quote:

Taking her place in the security check in queue with a smile etched across her pale features; Natasha was excited to be back at work after the unexpected but no less welcome vacation. Making sure she had her wand safely tucked into its holster the blond woman took in the faces of both new and old works as they waited for their turn. Relaxed and in a cheery mood she let the queue move her forwards in its own pace and up to the clip boards section. With neat but efficient hand writing she signed herself in. Quote:

One thing was for certain. Right as the sight of the security check point entered her line of vision, Evelyn had to fight the urge to apparate straight back to New Zealand. This meet and greet made her wake up earlier than she wanted to and actually got her out of the apartment which she was none too pleased about. Especially considering the 'meet and greet' part. However, standing tall and looking like her usual self, complete with perfect scowl, Evelyn sighed and reluctantly took her place in line. It was only when it was her turn did she see just who was running the check point. The unexpected familiar face brought a smile to her own. "Simon!" she greeted rather happily as she picked up the quill to sign in. "How did you manage to get stuck here for the orientation?" And not having to mingle with each person for more than a minute. Quote:

Maine joined the queue, waited a Quote:
"Hornbeam, 11 3/4 inches. Crystallized boomslang venom and demiguise hair." she beamed. She was proud of her wand. Very much so. It was a strange combination, but she was a strange person. Now. Can she have it back now? |
EEK. Her first BIG GIRL job. Despite moving away from home for the first time (not counting school, of course) Hershey was not nervous, she was just EXCITED. She was out to prove something with this job, prove to her parents that she could TOTALLY work on the dragon reservation, maybe even take over some day. Siiiigh. As the line moved, she snapped out of her thoughts and signed in on clipboard. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Gia "Good day, Miss Barbieri." It seemed to be getting easier with each time, especially with the ones used to the procedure or simply following the person before them. There they were wand already out and waiting with information. "Rather interesting wand..." Simon mused as he accepted it and ran it through the check. Abelia and peacock feather core was certainly not a common bunch of wand characteristics. "There you go, all set," he said handing it back to her. SPOILER!!: Man Right...ash with dragin heartstring. Just like the read-out he was getting as the wand went through the check. "Nope that is all," he assured the man, taking the polished wand back out and handing it back to its owner. "There you go. Have a good day." SPOILER!!: Cade "Yes, it would appear so," he commented as he took his co-worker's wand as it was offered. Simon nodded at her description almost feeling foolish at his task as he trusted the likes of one Cade Howard. Nevertheless it was required and he ran the wand through the machine, the results coming up connected just as what was expected. "All good of course," he replied returning it back to her. SPOILER!!: Manolo "Thank you," Simon said as he accepted the wand, turning just a smidge to add it to the wand-weigher. "You recall the wood correctly. What type of core?" No doubt it was a simple omission but he was sure Wes would want him to be thorough in his work. SPOILER!!: Cora The YATI waved up the the next person in line, a woman who appeared to be about his age. What do you know, he could work on his observation skills while working on the security check-point. Bet Wes had intended that all along...beside the whole plan to drag Simon and/or Josh into the ordeal. "Hello," Simon greeted with a polite smile as he took hold of the offered hand. "It has its pros and cons." Like staying in one place most if not all of the time, though surely he would be relieved at one point unless that was another test...endurance. Slipping his wooden charge into the machine, he turned away to see the response he got, nodding his head in acceptance as he listened to the girl and the two things agreed with one another. "All matched up and set," Simon said taking it back out and handing it to her. "There you are." SPOILER!!: Annalise Ooops. It appeared Wes had still been helping someone when he switched the duty to him to handle. "Sorry. I'll be handling the wand-weighing from now on," Simon said accepting the wand she had meant for his boss. He nodded at her description, repeating it over in his head as he put the wand through the machine. Sure enough, the descriptions matched and everything was a-ok. "Eleven inches, Hawthorne with a Dragon Heartstring core. There you are," Simon said handing it back to her newly-polished. There was a benefit to the check. SPOILER!!: Saul When the next person, a young man, approached the desk, Simon wasn't quite sure how to respond to the...item that was left on the ground as he signed in. Was that a...unicycle? How had he gotten to the ministry? The YATI shook his head absently and pushed back his focus at the task at hand. "I dont believe the sturdiness is needed. More of a note from the wand-maker. " Nevertheless the rest of it checked out and Simon moved to hand the wand back to him. "There you are. Have a go-- better day." SPOILER!!: Tasha The next person was certainly pleased to be here. And unless Simon was extremely mistaken, a returning employee he might have seen around the ministry's hallowed halls sometime in his few years here. "Good day," he greeted the woman as she signed the clipboard and greeted him. Accepting her wand and putting it through as he listened, Simon shook his head at her question. "Nope that is all. And your all set," he said turning back to her, her wand in his hand for her to take back. SPOILER!!: Ev Another friendly face though more friend then the division head he had worked with earlier. "Hello Evelyn," he greeted with a genuine smile to match her own sent his way. "I think Wes was planning all along to give it me or your boyfriend when we came in and I got here first," he explained with a shrug. Why else would the department head have been doing here if not for a simple 'holding of someone's place'? And he had been overly eager to hand it off so it made sense to have actually be intentional. "You wouldn't happen to know if he has any intention of making an appearance would you?" Not to say the former Slytherin was Josh's keeper but she would likely know better then anyone else. SPOILER!!: Maine "Next," he said waiting for the next in the queue, the very long queue to move up to the front and be ready for their check in. Simon figured they had hit a busy time in the arrivals, inwardly hoping it might slow down eventually though he showed no signs of fatigue. At least most of if not all of those who he faced had been pleasant about the whole thing, a good deal seemingly experienced in the proceedure. The former GRyffindor accepted the wand of his latest customer and put it through, a raised eyebrow going up as he listened to the description. "Interesting," Simon mused looking briefly up from his work and to the woman before back to the machine. "And a complete match. There you are." The rather unique wand handed back to its mistress. SPOILER!!: Hershey Another of the younger members of the ministry and clearly her first day here. Well this was the main reason for the orientation was it not? Simon returned her smile with a polite one of his own, it may be a tedious job but he wasn't going to be a grouch about it. "Hello," he greeted politely, accepting the offered wand after she signed in. She seemed to be getting the hang of things quickly. The YATI moved to send the wand through the machine, paying attention both to what the young woman and the wand-weigher were 'saying' to him. "Everything looks good," Simon said taking the wand back and holding it out for her. "Here yo go." |
Katherine was ready to party. She had bought a rather expensive dress, borrowed her mother's gold earrings and picked out the most dazzling pair of heels to go with her outfit. In other words, the twenty-three year old was overdressed. Overdressed and overexcited. In her defense, she had been anticipating Orientation Day since she first got the approval letter. So, her excitement was justified. Heels click-clacking against the spotless floor, Kat made her way over to the queue and waited for her turn. She couldn't help but smile at the people in the line - they could be her colleagues! And maybe even future friends. Time passed by quick and soon it was her turn. With a slight nod of her head at the security office, the girl jotted down her name and department in a clean, cursive handwriting. Quote:

Manolo slapped himself mentally. He forgot the core. He was more nervous than he thought. "Sorry sir, it's a dragon heartstring core." |
Quote:
And now it was time to move out of the way. Perhaps she'd catch up with Simon later. "Good luck. Try to stay out of trouble," she offered before moving past the check point. |
Quote:
"I'll come back and grab it before I head out." That was to much of a request was it? He sure hoped it wasn't. |

Her grin widened once her wand went through fine. Not that she hadn't expected it to, of course. She had no reason to lie or be shifty or anything. "Thank you!" she replied as she accepted her wand and slipped it back into its holster. "Have fun!" She gave him a little wave before joining the rest of the people who'd made it through the line. |
SIGH. With a slightly paler face than usual, Amy walked up to the back of the line and stood there, waiting. Frankly, she didn't feel too great. She had thrown up most of her dinner earlier on and she kept on finding her mouth filled with a little too much saliva. Maybe this is what happens when you go through a short period of heartbreak. UGH. Yes. She just hadn't had a proper kiss in so long. That was it. But, there were a lot of other girls who went through heartbreak and, well, they weren't affected. So why did she have to be the one to be affected in such a horrible manner? Sweet Merlin, she was beautiful, not some sort of horrible goblin. She did not deserve this. The queue moved forwards and Amy took a couple of tentative steps forward. No, she wasn't sick. Okay. Perfect. If she was sick she wouldn't be able to flip her hair or flirt with some hunky guys so... she refused to be sick. Right, and this was a meet and greet and some part of her, the side that was an angel in disguise, just knew that she had to meet some new people, men and women. Once she reached the clipboards, the brunette took the quill up in her hands and started scribbling her name and department down. It wasn't a lot of information that she had to note down but, for some reason, she found her face relaxing a little too much and a glazed expression crossed her face. Quote:
And then, a couple of seconds later, the woman jumped slightly, her eyes widening in shock. What had just happened?! And why had that just happened? See, she wasn't flirting or staring into the depths of a beautiful man's eyes so there had to be some sort of weird explanation for all this. Amy looked down at the clipboard. Oh... all filled out. Had she really done that? Shrugging, she set the quill down. 'Least it was done now. Amy looked up at the man and smirked. "Why hello there!" Not too bad looking, Mister. The woman, gladly, handed the man her wand. "There you go! It's 11 3/4 inches, chestnut with a dragon heartstring core." |
Oops forgot to post in here lol! and Making up the wand XD Tyler walked upto the counter on his first day at the Ministry, he couldn't wait to get started and getting into the job that he had been assigned to. But first he needed to let them know he was here, that was just good manners so that they knew he was on duty to work now. Quote:

Only one eyebrow lowered as a smirk appeared on her lips. "Not trying to make the slip are you?" she asked, handing her 10 ⅓ inch stained ash wood with a basilisk fang core wand over to him. "Though really, I have no idea. He may or may not. I don't even know why I'm here." |
Kyleigh made her way into the orientation area. She walked slowly - she was just glad she had stopped drooling for now at least - and she looked more normal, more like herself than she had in weeks. Her skin was slightly pale though - especially for herself. She glanced up and squeaked as she saw who it was that was weighing the wands. Brilliant. He'd probably be afraid she'd eat his brain but that was her own fault. Taking her wand out she got ready to hand it over to Simon. Taking a piece of paper she wrote down her nametag. Quote:
