"I'll be right with you." She held up one finger and then pointed over at the couch. He knew that couch. He should be well comfortable waiting there.

When she turned her attention back to Gabi and Angela, it was clear that she was anxious for them to leave, even if she was trying to hide it and carry on professionally. Ahem.

"I'd like to offer BOTH of you positions as department liaison. We're a large department, and our work has us interacting with every other level. That's quite the workload. We'll have to talk about how best to divide that up, and I'd like for the two of you to discuss how to implement a more efficient liaison relationship with other departments. The role offers an additional 200 Galleons a month on top of your current rates, by the way, with room for bonuses for outstanding work." She glanced over at Dash, hid another smile and then more sternly returned her attention to the women.

"Gabi, I have another task for you actually: Your division has a new assistant, Cora Greenwell. I'd like for you to take her under your wing, show her the ropes, help her figure out if she wants to aim for Research or Development in the future, give her some tasks. Mentor her, basically."

Paaause.

"And Angela, today at some point, if you wouldn't mind, please send a memo to Mr Amoroso and let him know that you and Gabriela are available as DMAC's liaisons. I'll leave the rest up to the two of you, and have the contracts on your desks by five pm." So she'd do that as soon as she was done with the meeting later on. Sigh.

"Shame." Dash noted, a thin smile crossing his lips. "Then you seem to be missing out on what we non workers call, having a life." Upon the direction of the finger, even though he didn't need it, Dash took a seat on the couch but in a business like manner.

He didn't mind waiting, it was just that, while waiting and around her employees it was probably best for him to act as though this was business. No accident and catastrophe worker needed to know about their boss slacking off.

And what was she talking about anyways? Department liaisons? Who even wanted that job? "Are you positive you do not want to make them fight to the death?" Dash asked raising a brow. Just GIVING them the job and money? Ah Althea had gotten soft.

Uh huh. And had he come to remedy that? Hmmm? She was already mentally shuffling her plans to fit him in. Wasn't he lucky? If she didn't have employees with her, she might have said that she had him, didn't she? But then again, that'd just make him smirk and act all superior so maybe not.

She gave him a look when he spoke again. "I considered it, but it'd take too long and be too messy." Hush over there in the not-so-cheap seat. Besides. If he'd not interrupted she'd have.... well, toyed with them a little longer.

Ahem. Where was she?

"Mmmm. I'm quite sure your.... social aptitude would be beneficial to the role." Althea agreed blandly, looking between the two women. She was about to say more but...

AHA! She was very qualified, Althea had said it herself. That had to mean she was a shoe in for the job, right? She smirked to herself and listened to Angela's pitch...well, not really, she was too busy trying to decide what new clothes she'd buy with her raise.

Then, suddenly, she heard Thea begin to speak again and she was...giving them BOTH the position? Well, um...ok. Gabi could work with someone else, she supposed. If she HAD to. Angela was nice enough, they could get along. Yes. This was good. Either way, Gabi got a promotion and a raise! YAYYY!

"Thank you so much, I promise you we won't let you down!" Gabi said with a smile. "I look forward to receive the contracts later. And I'll get right on--"

She stopped abruptly when a man RUDELY interrupted the conversation by Floo-ing right in to the office. What sort of manners were those?? Gabi glared at the man when he suggested they fight to to the death for the position...someone thought he was soooooo clever, didn't he? She sighed and turned back to her previous sentence.

"As I was saying, I'll talk to Cora later and begin showing her around after lunch," Gabi replied. As she spoke her stomach growled very loudly...gah, how embarrassing! Not wanting to stick around to hear what Mr. Jokster over there had to say about that, she smiled politely at everyone and stood up to make her exit.

"Good day, everyone, and thank you again Althea!" she said with a smile before taking her leave of the office.

Angela's heart nearly sunk when Althea commended Gabriela's qualifications. So that surely meant that the job with all the extra pay and benefits and work would be hers..

But then, yes! She heard what her boss had to say next and was like, so excited. They both were going to be made liaisons! Both of them! That was great! "Okay.." Angela added in as she listened to all the responsibilities and all of a liaison. And plus 200 galleons was a nice enough benefit. And so, yes, she could definitely work with Gabriela.

"Thank you Alth...." And there barged in this man. She had seen him once when she had just entered Level 3, and he did seem good. But to barge in just like that, into an office, and that of a department head nevertheless, was.. rude. Still Angela just kept a straight face, but her mind was whizzing on hearing the man's words. Make them fight? o_O Sure, that would have been exciting, but this was better. "Thanks Althea.. I'll not let you down." Angela said, ignoring the man, "I'll get on the memo right away."

Her work there nearly finished, Angela headed to the door. "Good day everyone." she added with a smile and headed out.

Dash didn't respond right away. It was easier just to wait until Althea's rude employees had left her office. Both of which glared at him but had not even offered any type of greeting.

So hospitable those Accidents and Catastrophes were.

"I don't think they like me very much." Dash announced with a smirk as soon the door clicked shut.

TeafortheSoul 11-26-2012 12:54 AM

Althea nodded at both women as they left, overall pleased with her decision. The thing was, they'd both in theory work harder to try to out do each other. So Thea would end up with TWO more effective people over all.

But onto more enjoyable things.

"Since when have you needed anyone to like you?" Althea asked, standing up and going over to join him on the couch. "They just know that I wouldn't put up with such an interruption from just anyone." She was respected around these parts, that was all. Not that they needed to know why Dash pretty much had the closest thing available to free range when it came to her office, though she supposed they'd talk. Well whatever.

"I didn't expect to see you today."

Dash rased a brow as she joined him, almost as if he were judging her for saying such a thing. "Never. But I never said I needed anyone to like me." Especially two nameless employees. It was possible they did have names. In fact highly likely. He just didn't know what their names were and so to him, yes, the two woman were nameless.

"And I'm surprised you even put up with an interruption from me." That was the truth. He had half expected for Althea to kick him out. It would have been understandable. "I do the unexpected." With that he leaned closer and gave her a kiss. "Especially when I have time on my hands." Orr especially when he ended his class earlier. Yeah, that.

"So why mention it at all?" She pointed it out, almost smugly, though really she was already dismissing thoughts of Angela and Gabi from her mind. She'd talk to them later, and it wasn't as if Dash visited her at work every day, so she intended to make the most of it.

"Well, you're not just anyone, after all." She paused to kiss him back. As it was, she LIKED that he did the unexpected. Kept things interesting. She also liked that he couldn't actually pinpoint her reactions to things either. She liked to keep Dash on his toes. "Besides, I'm in a good mood... today." Which was good for everyone really.

"So you have time on your hands." She kicked her shoes off and shifted on the couch so that her legs were over his lap. Comfy. "And you missed me so damned much that you couldn't resist dropping by?" Or was he here for specific reasons?

"To inform you of some areas in which your employees need to improve on." Dash stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Because it was, right? She had hired them, she had to make sure she hired well rounded polite people.

Dash smirked leaning back in the couch. That he knew. Of course he always knew that he was special. Everett Scabior wasn't just a normal person. A brow went up. "Yeah? When's the last time you've been in a bad mood?" Not anytime that he could remember. Dash reached out and pinched Althea's arm. Best way to get someone in a bad mood? Perhaps.

He nodded. He had, had time on his hands because he made time, yes. She didn't need to know that. It wasn't important. "Aww that's cute that you think that." He rolled his eyes, a scripted smug look on his face. It was...he hadn't missed her. At least not that much. "Disappear for a month and maybe that will be true."

"Because you're an expert in such things." Eye roll. "Thanks ever so much." So VERY helpful, wasn't he? He was ridiculous.

The smirk. There it was. She narrowed her eyes at him a bit and gave his hand a little smack. Naughty. "Isn't the most important thing that I'm not in a bad mood now?" Despite that he was clearly TRYING to get a rise out of her. She leaned back comfortably against the arm of the chair, away from pinchy fingers.

Uh huh. He KNEW a month was too long. The LAST and ONLY time they'd been apart for a whole month he'd ended up in here in a complete and utter whirlwind and they'd both been... very on edge. "You wouldn't let me stay away that long. Not again." She was sure of it and glad of it too. Althea wiggled her toes. Yes he COULD give her a foot rub. Mmhmm.

"Of course. I would write a book on it except I'm such an expert on it I wouldn't want to give my secrets away. Her sarcasm. He could hear it. And obviously he had taught her a thing or two about that. Being sarcastic.

A good thing that she wasn't in a bad mood? Dash snorted. "No." That was probably the most insane thing had had ever heard. "Five minutes of being around you in one of your bad moods bring me weeks of entertainment." Literally. She was so snippy that it was SO easy to poke fun at her. He reached out to pinch her again but she only leaned away.

Her feet in his lap he could handle. Her feet being demanding? No. "You should hire someone to give you foot massages." Dash mumbled as he poked the instep of her foot. Because that wasn't his job.

He was silent for a few minutes, wrapped up in his own thoughts, until finally he leaned closer to Althea's face. "I would find you."

"Mmm. Can't have that." Secrets were supposed to stay secret after all. That was the point of them. Besides she knew he was good at keeping things hush hush when he wanted to. Anyways, he spent enough damned time writing that he didn't need ANOTHER project, even if he was being sarcastic about it.

She wasn't going to rise to the bait. If THAT was the only reason he was here, to get her in a mood just so that he'd be entertained thinking about it later, then she wasn't going to cooperate... even though it annoyed her just THINKING about it so in a way it was already working. He got a glare but then she tried to control it. Which was weird. Because it became a glare and a smile combination.

Oh should she? Noooo she had someone for that. Someone who even KNEW that was what she wanted. She wiggled her toes a little more and prodded at his knee with one foot. He could do it. Mmhmm. "I COULD hire someone, but why would I?" She liked his touch much better after all. And honestly some people were creepy about feet. Who knew what strange obsessions someone would have to have in order to specifically massage feet for a living?

She watched him, taking in that thoughtful expression without feeling any need to prod him to share. He either would or he wouldn't. That was his way.

And then he did.

"I know." She answered quietly. "I know you would. And I'd want you to."

All in all, it was settled. Althea would get better employees who respected him and treated him like Merlin himself. This was not uttered out loud but it didn't need to be. It was agreed upon and he would hold her to it even if she said nothing of the sort.

"Because I said to." Dash replied simply, taking one foot and gently rubbing it. It was only because he needed a distraction, and had nothing to do with the fact that she has told him to do it. It was just easier. Focusing on the massage rather than focusing on his thoughts and the words that could possibly be formed by these thoughts.

"I know you would." Shooting her a small smile Dash allowed himself to enjoy the silence just for a bit. He didn't mind it, at all. "I actually did come here for a reason." He stated finally. " Do you have any major things planned for today?"

Yeah he SAID to and yet... she already had one. Right now in fact, there was someone rubbing her feet. Mmmm. She sighed happily and leaned her head back against the arm of the couch. Clearly she didn't need to SAY things.

She returned the little smile and just watched him, also happy in the silence. It was the companionable sort and besides she was being pampered a little bit with the foot rub, so Althea was happy enough just to indulge. It was always the little things that you had to enjoy after all.

Oh he had a reason? She lifted her head a bit. "Mmm. Yes, just this one meeting. Not until 1pm, its with the Minister and the other heads." And a few employees to deal with a certain... zombie outbreak. "I don't expect it to take long, nor do I intend to stay if it dissolves into petty bickering." Which the menfolk often did. Shrug."I believe the Minister has another meeting at 2 with a foreign minister, so it won't run over an hour." Aside from that? She had work to do of course, but as Dash had reminded her time and time again... she was the boss.

Dash could kidnap her after the meeting if he felt like it.

So somewhat busy day then? He moved on to the other foot, because he was not giving an intensive, revolutionary 20 minute rub for each foot. No. Unless someone was going to pay him, he'd stick to his day job.

"Short meeting. And here I thought you the people who ran our community actually did work, but apparently you just meet for the littlest time possible and fight. How moving." He smirked, perhaps a notice should be given to witches and wizards everywhere in Britain. "And even Annie holds longer meetings." Not that he paid specific attention to the majority of them, but he attended.

"I won't necessarily need you after, but that doesn't mean I won't be here." Dash added, slowly going back to serious mode. He could if he discussed everything that was on his mind..but he wouldn't. "We can have dinner." Only that. No discussing his thoughts, or anything serious. Only being with her. "I actually just wanted to know what our plans for summer were." His eyes fell upon Althea's. It was probably the smallest issue on his mind, but that was really all he could bring himself to say.

Honestly the fact that he was rubbing her feet at all was enough, she hardly expected him to just service her all day. Not today anyways. She let out a pleased little sigh at his touch. You couldn't really go wrong with a foot massage.

"Short but unmissable. We're really only checking in and my department is already on the ball with our particular area of investigation so it isn't as if we need to discuss what level 3 needs to do so much as inform the other departments and invite them to work with us. I actually have other things to do later but.... those can be postponed until tomorrow." As in, she'd rearrange her schedule since Dash had made an effort to come see her. It didn't need to be said out loud though.

She looked at him. Not necessarily need her.... but want her since apparently he would wait? Gratifying. She WANTED him to be here. Althea didn't say that either, only smiled. "I would like dinner." Definitely. Did he have somewhere in mind? Somewhere casual?

Summer? Thea met his eyes directly, finding it natural to do so. Her lock tattoo had moved from its usual position on her wrist, down to her ankle with the two stationary tattoos, under his hands. The cockatrice remained on her back. The lock was sort of... twitchy. But the closer it got to Dash the more it appeared to relax and slow down. She was ignoring it, as she'd gotten rather good at doing.

"Did you have something in mind? I can get leave, I have quite a bit saved up actually, if you want us to go somewhere with Kyroh or maybe just.... stay home and spend some time together."

Of course level three was already on the ball. It was Althea's department. Merlin forbid Althea ever having her department appearing as the weak link in the ministry. It was basically impossible it was, as if hearing that Hogwarts had burnt down. It was almost comforting to know, that Althea's hadn't, or wasn't about to, change anytime soon.

Dash nodded, as if he agreed, but really he took no stance on the matter of the Ministry meeting. Instead he focused his eyes and attention to her feet, and tattoo, once again saying nothing. He would have liked to show her something...but......no.

Time together. Yes, that was what he was probably looking forward to the most. "Who's home?" Dash asked finally raising a brow at the question. He didn't expect an answer, at least not right away. Instead the man's hands dropped and he stood up. "Dinner." He repeated. "We'll meet in Diagon Alley, near the Leaky. I have a place in mind that we can go after we meet up." Dash had been, perhaps a bit more cheery when he had stepped through the fireplace compared to the somber attitude he now had, although nothing had changed, just thoughts weighing down in his head. "See you in an hour then?"

She was going to keep him. A foot massage certainly earned the brownie points. She relaxed happily, actually taking a moment to not stress over work things and just enjoying Dash's company.

Who's home? She opened her eyes and looked at him. Either way there wasn't much privacy since his sister and niece were at his place, and her cousin and her daughter were at hers. "Either." It didn't matter since the point was being with him anyway. Besides she had clothes at his place so she didn't ever mind staying with him. So, up to him really.

When he stood up she swung her feet down and reluctantly slipped her feet into her shoes again. "Dinner." She repeated, standing up and immediately going to him to collect a kiss. "See you in an hour near the Leaky." She confirmed.

And now she had to get back into her work mindset. Sigh.

It had been a couple of days since she had last reported about her caseload to Althea. So Jade figured that it was way overdue. She gathered her files and walked to Thea's door. The door was closed so Jade knocked on it. She knew that she wasn't interrupting a meeting but still she considered it rude to just barge in to a room when the door had been closed.

The thing about running for the Board of Governors was that it took a lot of time what with the little events here and there that she was expected to show up for even with sometimes only a day's notice. Not that she wasn't keeping up with her work, Althea thrived on working hard, it just meant that lately the only time she had for Dash was when they were interacting at the school, which meant toning things down a little, even if they were no longer hiding the seriousness of their relationship.

Right now Thea had been going over correspondence with St Mungos, going through and looking for a likely healer or two for magical first aid courses for her staff, something that the budget had not stretched for recently, but she was going to make it happen, as promised.

Hearing a knock on the door she looked up and flicked her wrist, the door opening a fraction in invitation. "Come in."

Jade opened the door fully as she heard Thea's "come in" invitation. She smiled at Thea, "Hey, I wanted to get you up to speed on my caseload." She lifted up the stacks of papers that she held in her hands. "It is mostly about the Infected zombies case though. Do you have a few minutes? Otherwise we can schedule a meeting."

Oh it was Jade, good, she'd been meaning to talk with her.

"Oh, excellent." She widened her eyes in amused acknowledgement of the stack of paperwork and smiled. "Sit, now is fine. If we're likely to run over we can reschedule."

Nodding, Jade took her seat and picked up a folder off her lap to hand it to Thea, "First thing first-- I, with the help of Cade and Saul from the office of Misuse of Magic, managed to catch the wizard who has been using magic on Muggles. We caught him by the phone booth and cafe. They're keeping him in MLE at the moment. I had to do some obliviating to the muggles there but we haven't yet got a full list of people who have been affected."

And now for the case about the infected. Jade was undoubtedly nervous about this one because of her actions with Isobel but Thea needed to know. "And about the infected case-- I managed to get some memories from Mrs. Ferguson that confirm the plant theory. But...um...I don't know how quite to put this--during my memory retrieval with her, umm, she got away from me and umm Ihadtodoabodybindonher."

There it was out in the open. Jade waited with bated breath for Thea's response.

"Improper Use of Magic." Althea corrected sort of absently but nodded, making a mental note to get Jade a bonus for handling the situation, and for working with MLE on the matter. It was particularly useful that she didn't need to check what she was doing every second, it made her job easier and reassured her that she had done the right thing putting Jade on the case. Definitely a bonus. "Flick me a memo when you have the full list." She added.

Althea just listened to the next part. "That's procedure." She pointed out. "I assume you didn't do any permanent harm? But even if you did, you have clearance to use necessary force when extracting or implanting memories." She paused and added in a softer voice, "Izzy will understand."

Jade nodded, "I will do. If you could get a hold of Laura Beaumont and tell her that Obliviators are needed that would be great. You know how they get when it doesn't "come" from the Boss."

She was beyond relieved that Thea wasn't upset about what happened with Isobel. Jade had been afraid of that.

"Um, no-- there wasn't any permanent harm done. One of the aurors and I checked her and she was okay. Just really cross with me. Thanks through-- I wasn't sure about what was my clearance in this situation. I do feel a lot better now about the whole situation. Although, I am afraid that Mrs. Ferguson isn't going to be as understanding as you when she gets better. Could you maybe talk to her?"
