Finally finishing the second cupcake, Konrad eyed the rest of them, but decided against eating another one. Well, he had no problems with his weight or diet, but he wasn't there to eat, even though the tiny things tasted like HEAVEN. So, tearing his eyes away from that mass of deliciousness, he happened to see a young woman looking at him. Or maybe she was glancing at the cupcakes. Well, looking at him or not, he thought it would be nice to at least go and say hello, which is exactly what he did.
"Hello," he said with a smile. "You're new, are you not?" He only hoped he wasn't wrong, because that would be humiliating. He'd keep the 'welcome to the Ministry' part when and if he got an affirmative answer.

Looking around the breakroom, he added, "Good idea having this little welcoming party. I don't think we get together often enough." It was a good opportunity to get to know the new employees, as well. Alexander liked to know who he was dealing with. You never knew who'd do well or end up bottoming out.

Alexander nodded as the minister shared his family story. He's currently married to Hecate Lafay, Jonathan's Potions professor. He speaks about her a lot especially during vacations. "That's really nice to hear, sir" he said nodding once more. Then, the minister mentioned his son's name. Alexander smiled, "You're familiar with my sons' name" he never really knew. "Jonathan is in his seventh year at Hogwarts right now" graduating soon and taking up his NEWTs. Alexander will be expecting a lot from him. "the family is just fine." he added looking at the Minister once more, "How about Sierra and Alex?" wait, the son's name is Alexander too right? He did his research but he seems to forgot about it. Sierra, he's sure of, Jonathan told him about her. "I hear your daughter is the new Prefect"
"Of course I know your son's name," he said, finishing off the handshake then dropping his arm back to his side. "He's in the same house as my daughter, and I keep careful tabs on who she decides to surround herself with. Can't go wrong with a Slytherin, though, can you?" Of course he said this with pride. Being a former Slytherin himself, he'd never lost that house pride. "Best of luck to him with his NEWT exams. What do he wish to do after Hogwarts?"
"Sierra," he answered. "Just Sierra. I have an older daughter, as well, but shes married with young ones of her own." The story about Alex was a bit personal, but people were bound to learn at some point. "Alex is the son of my ex-wife and her former boyfriend," he said. He'd just leave it at that. Nevermind that the boy had his namesake. "He and my Sierra were just born at the same time." Confusing enough? Likely.

Now she couldn't mock his low status in the Ministry just because she used to be high in the ranks, blahblahblah. Actually, he didn't really want to see her face, now that he thought about it. He preferred not seeing her ever again.
But anyway; food court. "It's going along quite well, actually. The finishing touches have been put on the plans and I believe the construction should start in no time." At least... that's what he knew. And he certainly hoped the Minister didn't know otherwise or else he'd be a bit embarrassed. Heh.
Alexander caught the expression of pride on the man's face. "Ahh, well, we saw you fit to do the job, and we look forward to seeing what you can bring in," he said. In other words, don't disappoint us. He nodded along at the progression of the food court. "Then it sounds like we should eating there in no time." We should be, Everard. He trusted the man not to keep them waiting. "I may take a walk down there soon and see what you lot have going on." It'd be nice to see the progression of something he'd hoped for for a while.

For her, he was just her boss.
And the Minister of Magic.
Turning towards the Minister she smiled. Trying to remind herself not to look too awkward with her smiling all the time. If someone weren't wise enough they might think she was mentally deficient. Nope. Well, maybe she wasn't sure.
No she was sure, she'd just never been the same after she'd been possessed she was always a little more paranoid about antique objects. You would be hardpressed to find her picking up an antique object willynilly.
Alexander caught on to the fact that he momentarily had this young girl's attention. Young was the right word to use here. She may even be straight out of Hogwarts. How odd it'd be to work alongside someone who likely hung out with his daughter at some point and time. Maybe. Maybe not. Sierra was only a fifth year now, so she'd been young when this young woman was likely a seventh year.
He smiled when she greeted him. "...and a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, as well," he said. At least she sounded mature and fit to do the job. What was her job anyway? Then he heard her introduce herself to the Everard man. Ahhh, Ministry Scribe.

It's not like Victoria never saw him or talked with him. But that was when she knocked on his door and was holding some important papers or was informing him with some information. Well, she recovered from her astonishment fast thankfully and stepped a bit closer ,"Good day Mister Minister." Smiling and nodding she said.
Hearing his name, Alexander turned away from the new Ministry Scribe and toward the source of the voice. Ahh, one of the secretaries. One of the really good secretaries, at that. "Good day to you, as well," he said. "Good to see you could make the little gathering we have here." ...and that he could, as well. "Tell me, how've you been lately?" He didn't get out and mingle among the employees enough.
Kyleigh smiled when she heard the french that Jade was obviously speaking - she was sure that she had messed up what she had been trying to say earlier herself but hearing it made her want to run off and talk in her former first language...well it wasn't really her first or second language she had learned both English and French at the same time...her half language then maybe?
"Beauxbatons? Really? I did go there you as well I presume then?" She asked smiling, and then her smile faltered just slightly she remembered her final year there. The last day before summer break she had run into the dinning hall - and accidentally thought a spell she didn't remember what it was.
Probably Reducto for all she could think. Because after all the beautiful statue left to the school by that years graduating class had shattered...well more like exploded.
She knew her face looked twisted and contorted just a little - not with pain, but the pain of an awkward memory. "I - er, I was the girl who exploded the statue back in the year...I think it was 2073...or 2072 I don't really remember" she just remembered it happening and the shower of shimmering crystal that radiated in the light casting rainbows about the room. It was beautiful until she got herself a stern talking to and a near expulsion.
Jade returned Kyle's smile. She wasn't entirely sure why. Maybe it was because she couldn't for the life of her figure out who this girl was. She recognised the name and she was more familiar than she had first thought. Surely that was enough for her to remember who she actually was? But it seemed not. She wished it would come to her how she knew her. She spoke French even if what she had said was a little confusing to understand. She'd worded it a little wrong but at least Jade had figured out what it was she had said. Or she already knew what she had said. How else would she have been able to respond in the same language?
So she did go to Beauxbatons. NOW she knew where she knew Kyle from. "I did!" she replied. Of course she went to Beauxbatons. It was the only school in France that she knew of or if there was another one, she didn't know it existed. But there were likely to be a lot of school's all over the world for witches and wizards. Jade was just privellaged to go to one as popular as Beauxbatons. Though she didn't enjoy school life as much as she had wished she could she still liked the school. And enjoyed making friends. She made plenty of friends, some of which she would probably never speak to again in her life. Others, she'd make sure she NEVER lost contact with. And Kyle was one of those people.
Though now that she knew where she knew Kyle from, she wandered how exactly she knew her. She couldn't remember ever being close friends with the blonde but she knew her. That was surely enough!
She raised an eyebrow seeing the look on her face. Was she... disapproving of something? No! She couldn't have. Jade let her eyebrow drop to it's former position as Kyle began to speak. So that was how she knew her. The girl who exploded a statue. Yeah, she remembered. "I'm not good with years and stuff but I remember that happening. What exactly did the professors say to you?" she responded. As embarrassing as that must have been for Kyle, it was quite amusing to see. In a strange kind of way. She couldn't put her finger on what was so amusing about it but something was. Maybe it was just the way the statue exploded.

Taking a tentative step forward she walked over towards where Mason and the Minister were both talking and smiled.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance Minister Greingoth" she smiled to the Minister and then turning toward Mason she smiled. "I don't believe we've met - I'm Kyleigh Manning one of the new Ministry Scribes" she smiled over to him.[/COLOR]
Mason's attention was drawn to the side when a younger woman appeared nearby. He smiled at her when she introduced herself as Kyleigh Manning. Mason gave her a nod. "Pleasure to meet you, Kyleigh." Mason extended his hand for her to shake. "I'm Mason Everard, one of the Maintenance Supervisors." He didn't even know that the Ministry had scribes until that moment. Huh.

It was kind of an honor to have the Minister say that Mason fit the job. Even though it was a small promotion, Mason still felt cool. "Thank you, sir. And I'm sure you'll be pleased with the outcome." Now they just had to get to the outcome. And quickly, so as not to disappoint. Mason nodded. Emphasis on the quickness again. "I don't think you'll be waiting long," he said with a small smile. Oh, he wanted to go down there and see their progression? Err... "Wouldn't you rather wait until the grand opening?" He asked, curiously. Because he wasn't sure if there was anything really awesome to see yet...
Kyleigh smiled over to Vicky and nodded indeed Vicky was right. "Ah yes, you 'ave caught me" her french accent slightly thicker as she had just finished thinking of her time back in France - and the accent just never fully disappeared ever. It was always there, just sometimes a little bit more faint as the years went on. "I must ask would you like to be called Victoria or Vickeh' " her accent softening the end of the nickname.
Vicky smiled and said,"I think Ms. Daniels would work in the office and Victoria in more informal settings." She was well aware of the overflow of Victoria's in the office and how it may be confusing to call her Victoria while at work.
It looks like work may be more interesting.
"I know by your accent that you speak French. Were you born there?" It such a beautiful place during the spring." Vicky asked.

Well, talking to the minister casually shouldn't be a hard thing to do...Especially when he comes to the welcoming party. "Yeah it's a very nice idea, shouldn't be missed" She emphasized. It's not a question about work ,is it? No, it's like how all people ask each other.."I'm very good, Thank you for asking," she answered, "Mostly work takes up all my time, but there's not much going on around these days, at the Level I mean," She said, "Usually, we'd be very busy." Okay...no need to babble with the minister. She needs to get a grip on this talking habit, although that's probably one of the reasons why she got the job.

Kyleigh looked over to Victoria Smith and smiled – she seemed alright and to top it all off she had a sense of humor. Well it was clear Victoria wasn’t sure if she’d offended her and she just chuckled.
“Oh its no problem deary” she smiled over to her, her long blond hair falling into her face as she spoke. “And I’m glad someone here has a sense of humor on the first day” she admitted with a bright eyed smile. “Aw I’m not sure maybe we’ll have to have the Victoria-Only beauty contest for the level?” Kyleigh suggested with a twinkling mischief in her eyes. What?
She wasn’t about to judge everyone in her book they were all beautiful because heck, they had the brains to be here! At the ministry in the presence of THE minister!
Blink – the cupcake man was now talking to her.
Flushing more because she was embarrassed then anything else she smiled over to the older man. “H-hello” she smiled back and she couldn’t help but blink in disbelief when he said she was new there how did he know? Wait. He must know because she looked knew and had never been on the level before! Of course it all made sense! She was bloody bonkers that’s all!
“Yes, I am new – name’s Kyleigh Manning” she smiled. “I’m the new Ministry scribe – and what do you do?” She asked wondering what cupcake guy did and what his name was so she didn’t always refer to him as the man who loved cupcakes.
She smiled over to Minister Greingoth as he said it was a pleasure to make her acquaintance. YAY! She was happy it was a pleasure if it hadn’t been that would have been sad and she didn’t want it to be sad! Still she quickly turned her attention back to Mason who was now speaking yet again.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well Mr. Everard” well the name sounded cool to say and she wasn’t on first name basis he’d been there longer and obviously was on good terms to the Minister. She didn’t want to sound impolite to her boss and people she might have to scribe for in the future. Ah he was in charge of maintenance that sounded interesting, messy but interesting.
She turned later to Victoria Daniels and smiled – yes saying Mrs. Daniels at work sounded like a brilliant idea to her as well seeing it did seem that all the girls beside herself were named that fateful name. It would seem like someone was renaming all the people in the world Victoria if she had been named it as well.
“Aw, Mrs. Daniels it is then, it’s a pleasure” she smiled to her and then she was being asked about her accent. The question causing her to flush just slightly as it always did “Ah, yes I am from France – I was born in Paris but my father is from London originally so duel citizenship” she smiled. Yeah made living here her whole teenage years so much easier than it would have been.

Camille had finally gotten back from her extended holiday to Brazil. Rather gorgeous weather, it was. She tried to take a break to sunnier places, once in a while. It relaxed her. Having been gone for quite some time, she needed to catch up on the latest news from Level One and beyond. What a better place to do so than the Break Room?!
Picking up her Iced Cappucino from the fridge, Camille found a table to sit at and sip at her drink. She took a bag of Rainbow Twizzlers from her purse and ate one after a few sips. That was enough for now, the ministry worker told herself while stuffing back were it came from. What would people think of a girl drinking a Cappucino and eating Twizzlers?! Not very highly, of course! That, my friends, is the exact opposite of what she needed AND wanted. Let's stick with that.

Hmmm. Judging by her slightly awkward reaction, Konrad wondered whether he had said anything inappropriate or not... or maybe he shouldn't have said anything at all? Ehh.
"Ah, excuse my lack of manners," he tried to chuckle, as his cheeks turned juuust a little bit pink. "I am Konrad Scherfig, one of the secretaries." Oooh, and Kyleigh was the new ministry scribe? "Welcome to the Ministry. I hope you're having a good time so far?" It was important for the new ones to feel well on their first days at work, right? It helped making everything more pleasant. Hehe.

Hearing Kim's talk of how one could never go wrong with Slytherins, Alexander beamed and reached over to pat the man on the side of the arm. At'ta boy, Kim! that pat seemed to say. One easy way to get on Alexander Greingoth's good side was to show Slytherin pride, and this man did that and more by having offspring in the house, as well.
"Ahh, I'm sure they'll do well," he said, speaking of Jonathan and Sierra on their NEWTs and OWLs. "They're Slytherins, after all. There's greatness in there." His daughter better do well on her OWLs, especially seeing as she was the daughter of the Minister. He and Hecate hadn't put her in every class offered just for her health, after all. Alexander nodded when the Kim man mentioned his son following in his footsteps. "Well, best to keep his ambition high."
"Yes, she has two," he answered, referring to his oldest daughter, Anna, and her two children. His grandchildren, although he still stood by the fact that he was far too young to have them. Looking around the room, he said, "I better get going now. I have a meeting with a foreign Minister soon. You have a good day, Kim."

Alexander caught the hesitation in the new Supervisor's voice. Would he rather wait until the grand opening? "Mr. Everard, I assume you take pride enough in your position to ensure that food court will open in a timely manner, yes? ...and I assume you understand that you were hired with the understanding you'd get the job done?" he asked, one eyebrows raised. Alexander wouldn't take to slacking on the job, especially from a supervisor.
With hesitation, he finally said, "I'll wait until the grand opening, which I hope will be sooner rather than later. I have every bit of confidence you're just the man to see it'd done, though." He offered him an assuring grin, then checking the time added, "I should get going. Meetings with foreign Ministers and the such. You have a good day, though."

Alexander felt one of his eyebrows raising ever so slightly as the woman carried on and on. She was a talker, that was for sure, but seeing as her job involved meeting and greeting, he guessed that was a good thing. "Well, you be sure to take some time for yourself, too," he said. Even he, as Minister, did that. Family came first, and that was just all there was to it. Looking around the break room, he added, "I don't think we'll be too slow for too long. What with all the newcomers."
Overhearing the Senior Undersecretary ask him to say the welcome message, Alexander nodded to the woman he'd been talking to, assuming she'd overheard, too, and would understand, then approached the Senior Undersecretary.

"Of course," he said, taking the place next to her.
"If I may have your attention, please," he said, using his authoritative tone. He wasn't yelling, just using a voice that would assure him everyone would hear and cease the chatting.
"Allow me to officially welcome you, as a new team, to level one of the Ministry of Magic. Looking around, I see we have a mixture of old faces as well as new. I hope that our returning employees do their best to welcome in the new, and in return, I hope the new employees can learn from the returning ones," he said. Continuing on, he said, "Level one is only as strong and as active as we, as a team, make it to be. The amount of effort we all put up will be what we receive in the long run. You are expected to give your very best, yet enjoy yourself at the same time. I look forward to working with you all and again, welcome to level one."
Ending his speech, he leaned toward the Senior Undersecretary and said, "Meeting with a foreign Minister." Then with a nod, he turned and left the break room.
OOC for everyone: I'll be going on a short leave starting this Tuesday, so I'm decloning Alexander now. I'll be back shortly, though!
"Oh, I had always been in the maintenance department since I began to work here, but they had recently split the department into sections so we could focus on specific tasks." Melanie nodded her head. "And your job sounds very interesting to. Doing tasks for the Minister himself is quite the stress on you guys." She wouldn't think how she could handle "Lard Borr" since her disgusting encounter with him cleaning his toe nail clippings. It gave her shivers from those memories. Shaking the thought out of her head, she focused back on her two co-workers. "Would you like me to grab a drink for you? What would you like?" She peered at the table that was set up filled with a variety of foods and drinks.
Just then, another new employee seemed to have headed to the break room. Yay! more new faces to get to know. Melanie's heart was racing to go and hug the young man, but she held herself back knowing that it would scare him silly. Instead, she walked over the him and took her hand out to greet him. "Hello there, welcome to the party for the new and old employees of level 1! I'm Melanie Caperelli and you must be new here?" She grabbed his hand and shook it with excitement.
Stan stood at the edge of the party, not sure if he should join in a conversation or something. Then a woman approached him out of nowhere and was shaking his hand.
"Well hello Melenie, ah, um-" He hoped it wasn't clear that he hadn't heard her last name. He shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Stan Paris." He smiled when she asked if he was new. "Did I look that new?" he asked jokingly. "I am with the Cleaning Department. You are?"
Then he paused to hear the Ministers talk. He said in a low voice to Melenie "He's pretty impressive."
Iridesca walked into the Break Room. She really needed a break from the office area. She needed some fresh air and some tea...yes...tea would be lovely. She glanced around the room and realized that she didn't recognize anyone. She pushed a stray hair behind her left ear and sat down in an empty seat at one of the tables. It wasn't too full in here but she didn't feel like interrupting anyone else's conversations....manners and all...she dipped the tea bag in the hot cup of water and tried not to eavesdrop...well not too much atleast...with a smile on her face.
Vicky moved toward the doors to the break room and cleared her throat softly before speaking,"If I could have everyone's attention please. I'm Victoria Daniels, the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Magic. I know this has been a wonderful start to the day for us all but it is time for us to head on to work. I had a wonderful time mingling and meeting you. I do hope to see you all around the office. Thank you for coming and having cupcakes. Have a lovely and productive day everyone." she said in an authoritative voice yet keeping her tone even and polite.
Smiling, she inclined her head to everyone before leaving the break room.
OOC: Hey everyone, it has been a lot of fun here but we have to come on down from cloud 9 and down get down to business. Also, please ensure to pay close attention to the Notice boards.Thank you.
