Wow! First day! It was unreal how nervous Jade was to be starting her very first job within the wizarding world let alone in the Ministry. The only thing that was helping her keep her cool was that her sister worked in the Ministry too which meant they'd be able to see each other on a daily basis after work. But for now, Jade was concentrating on making a good first impression. Hopefully what she was wearing would help with that. She'd spent hours getting herself ready, probably a little longer than she should have been. Eager to make an amazing first impression? Eager wasn't the correct word. But she didn't mind. As long as she didn't give a bad first impression she would be just fine.

She wandered into the break room looking around as she did so a little nervous as to who she would meet, who she would be working with and even more so whether or not she was in the correct place. If not, she was sure she would be directed in the right direction. At least, she sure hoped she would. She glanced around looking at the other employees within the room and though she really wanted to interact, she wasn't sure it was the best idea. But if she didn't, wouldn't that just give out bad vibes? Maybe she should just show them her dazzling smile, hide the nerves and act like she wasn't scared. Which, of course, she was petrified. She'd spent the entire previous night wandering whether people would like her or not. Time would tell.

They probably went to the same school and he was just a young little fry of a boy when she was there obviously because he didn't look a day over seventeen.

Walking over - and making sure her shoes didn't snap and send her vaulting into the table - causing even more of a mess she smiled over to Preston. "Hello" she smiled and grabbed a sandwich off of the table. "You know you can use magic to clean it - you don't have to do it by hand" she offered with a smile. "Don't worry you didn't do as dreadful of a thing as me - you see that thing sticking out of the ceiling over there?" She offered pointing to the protruding heel of a shoe "that used to be attached to my shoes" she added with a smile. "I'm Kyleigh Manning - the new ministry scribe" she smiled and then noticed the well-dressed-smiler.

"Hello" she offered a quick smile to the older man and put down her plate on the edge of the table quite precariously. Not thinking that if anyone were to do anything to the table it might as well launch itself onto someone - or something.

"I'm Kyleigh Manning - you can call me Kyle, Leigh...anything really - er what do you do here in the minister's office?" She asked smiling over to the older man. She didn't know if he was new like her or had been there before so well, she was being awfully nice. That and he could be scribe number two and she'd have to sit in a room with him taking notes on everything said, and she was going to write down everything - even when they told her to stop writing because she was a great scribe and would dictate whatever she was told.

"Hello - I must say that is an adorable sweater-thing" she pointed at her own shoulder indicating where she meant. Of course the sweater was on her shoulders and not wrapped in her hair like a turban. What was Kyle doing?

Oh just being her awkward little self. Where was Simon when she needed him?

Oh right - he was on level two probably getting the fourth degree about being oh so happy lately. Oh she hoped he was happy if he wasn't happy that wouldn't be good and why wouldn't he be happy when he was dating her? Right.

Swallowing his mouthful of sandwich in lightening speed, Rowan smiled and put the remainder of it on a plate. Guh, greeting time. "Hey there."
Umm...

Kyle or Leigh? Wasn't it a bit too soon for nicknames? Yes, he thought so. "Nice to meet you, Kyleigh. I'm Rowan. Rowan Nicholls." He offered his hand to the woman to shake. Might as well be professional on his first day and all! Oh, his position? What was it again... err... "Ministry Scribe." He said with a firm nod.

It was not certain whether he was happy with that place as of yet. "What about yourself? This is my first day, if you couldn't already tell." He laughed, but stopped himself quickly.

He had a good lid on his laugh, cos it sounded absolutely ridiculous sometimes.

And, oh Merlin... more women.

Rowan offered the brunette lady a smile and stepped forward to introduce himself. "Hellooo..." Why he said it like that, was completely unknown. "First day, too?" He could just tell.

First dayers should stick together, you know.

And someone else was now talking to her. She turned her head to look at the man now speaking with an eyebrow raised. Was it just her or did that 'hello' sound a little flirty? Maybe it was just her. Why would someone try flirting with someone who's name they didn't even know? They wouldn't! At least not that Jade knew of at least. "Hey there" she smiled. Was she smiling too much? No, she couldn't be, could she? Smiling just meant she was a polite, sweet and easy going person, right? But all of that was correct. Jade was polite, sweet and easy going. She'd make friends the first chance she got. First day? Yep! And she had the 'first day jitters'. "Yes! And I'm horribly nervous" she admitted with a nod. Best to be honest, right?

"I'm Jade" she smiled shaking the man who she now knew as Rowan's hand. "It's a pleasure meeting you"

Rose smiled when Kyle chuckled at her falling story. She felt young laughing at falling people. It seemed like such a foolish thing to laugh at. "You're welcome, And welcome to the Ministry!" Ah practice for welcoming every person that walks up to her desk. Minus, 'how may I help you?'

Rose was just noticing all the people walking in, and the food... "Ooohhh cupcakes!" She grabbed one and immediately began to lick the frosting off of it.

Melaniewalked into the break room feeling happy and jittery all together. She had gotten the mail that there would be a party here to welcome the new employees of level 1 and she couldn't wait to get to know more people. She hoped that her dress wasn't too flashy or eye catching, just simply a plain silk blue dress. It was the only one she had in her wardrobe this morning and quickly dashed out of the house. Standing near the doorway, she scanned the room to see if there were any familiar faces around. It didn't seem like it, but she hoped that she would make some new friends here.

Preston had just finished cleaning his mess up when a familiar woman appeared next to him. "Oh, hello." He greeted with a goofy smile. "I know." He said with a little sigh. "I'm still getting used to being able to do magic all the time now." He explained, "I worked with my Aunt in New York and I got used to cleaning my messes up by hand." He added on, maybe that would make more sense. Oh, and the whole, turning seventeen just a few months ago thing. That was still a bit weird too.

Preston followed to wear she was pointing, to see the object stuck in the ceiling. "Well, at least I won't have that problem." He laughed, "Or at least I hope I don't." He picked up his cupcake finally and turned to face her. "You know, you look pretty familiar to me." Preston commented.

Seeing another employee near the door, Preston couldn't help but wonder who she was and what her job was. He could tell from looking at her, that she too was a new employee and was nervous. Being the man that he was, Preston grabbed another cupcake from the table and headed over to the woman standing by the door.

"Hello there." He greeted. "I'm Preston." He introduced, it was then that he was going to give her his hand to shake when he realized that both hands were occupied with cupcakes, one of which was already half eaten. "I, uh, thought you might want something to eat." He offered as he held out the cupcake to her.

Laughing a little Victoria said, "I almost considered being a scribe, but decided against it." Her being a scribe wasn't exactly what she would like to do. Also she wasn't sure if you would need to work late hours.

"All Human Resources do is responds to assignments given by the Minister, Undersecretaries, or Human Resources Director and also work with any employees other department heads," she told Kyle. It will be sure fun to do this job. "Yeah that would help as well. For me I don't write that fast so I wouldn't be good," She agreed. Fast writing was important!

Victoria was over getting some food to eat, she was really hungry, maybe it was because she was nervous about starting today. When arriving at the table she was about to grab a cupcake nearby, just something little to settle her down for now, when the boy next to her knocked some sauce over. Looking up at him she smiled a little. Already having a napkin in hand she took it and started helping him clean up. He must be as clumsy as her.

Looking over at him from the corner of her eye she said, "Hello, I'm Victoria. Are you new here like me?" When she finished she chuckled a little.

Victoria looked around the break room seeing everyone who was walking around, she was going to be working with them anyways. When looking around she saw someone sending smiled at everyone. When he was near her, by the tables she said with a happy smile, "Hello," she was being to get a little tired of hellos, there were a lot of them today, "I'm Victoria Summit." She held out her hand towards him as a greeting.

Being new here so far was great. Victoria has meet a lot of new people she never meet before. She knew this job would be good!

While scanning the room a little she landed her eyes on a girl that walked in with a blue dress. Victoria liked it. She liked it so much she walked a little ways to the girl, with a smile on her face. "I really like your dress," she said. Sometimes Victoria had the need to go tell someone that no matter who it would be.

"I'm Victoria by the way, Victoria Summit," she said looked up at the girl, with a smile.

Preston turned to another employee, it was starting to get busy in here like it would get on a weekend in his aunt's clothing shop in New York. "Hello!" Preston greeted with a goofy grin. "Indeed I am." He said nodding his head. "First "big kid" job." He added with a shrug of his shoulders. It was his first "big kid" job in the wizarding world at least. "A pleasure to meet you Victoria. I'm Preston Turner." He introduced.

Its my first big job as well," Victoria told him. From working in shops and restaurants thing was her big first job, also outside of going to school. "Its nice to meet you as well Preston," she started. "What is your job going to be here at the Minister's office?" When finding out who did what on level 1 she was beginning to hope she will remember them! Well she will sooner or later, but she prefers sooner.

It was that time of the year again when they finally have new employees. Alexander remembered the day when he first worked here, it was one of the best decisions he had ever thought of. He woke up a little early than usual today and drank his coffee instead of buying one in a cafe. Before leaving though he still read the morning prophet and after noticing how time flew by, he immediately apparated to work.

It's definitely nice to see new faces already coming in and out of the office. Then upon reaching to his desk, he saw an invitation for a party that is held in the break room. Alexander smiled as he placed all his things into his desk and fixed himself before going to the break room... at least to look more presentable than his usual. He is after all greeting and meeting new employees today.

I must say its a pleasure to meet you then Rowan Nicholls...oh I didn't mean to sound that way it was a pleasure to meet you either way its just oh bother - I'm kind of flustered today don't rightfully do to well with crowds or new people and in crowds of new people I guess I just put my foot in my mouth all the time" she was blushing now because of all the awkwardness that had just jumped from her mouth. If there was a way to break the awkward - anyway she would take it and use it like a ruddy life jacket.

Taking a bite of her sandwich she just decided having something in her mouth so she couldn't spit out anymore word-vomit then, well that'd be better than any other possible awkward outcome right?

She was wrong.

The moment the bread hit her tongue someone he began to talk to her - now she knew exactly what he had felt when she had introduced herself food still filling her mouth she gave an awkward smile put her hand over her mouth and began to chew at record speed. Swallowing she smiled over to him. "Er yeah if you can't tell already I'm as nervous as ever - first day...first really important job." She smiled. "Earlier today I got that shoe into the ceiling I was so nervous I was walking too hard and the heel just went flying off like some sort of ceiling seeking missile."

Awkward girl, awkward.

Kyle looked up at Jade as she introduced herself and couldn't help but think that the name sounded vaguely familiar and she had an accent just like hers! She looked up at her and felt her tongue itching to speak her native language and with great trepidation it did.

"pardonnez-moi que vous parlez français?" She asked Jade knowing she'd know what she was saying if she were french - she sounded it. She had only asked if she spoke french for merlin's sake. "I was just asking because you look, well familiar" she admitted with a shrug of the shoulder.

When Jade said she was horribly nervous she couldn't help but feel the same exact way, nervous seemed to be the energy of the room. "I think we all are feeling quite a bit nervous ourselves" she smiled. "And you are welcome" she smiled knowing she'd understand right? She was only being polite as it were.

Kyle couldn't help but laugh - holding back so no more than two little squeaks would escape with the laugh. She had that problem the awkward high pitch laugh that would turn to squeaking and then to snorting and back to squeaking and then those squeaks after a long repetitive line would sometimes turn into hiccups. Oh she would be in quite a pickle if that happened.

"Oh thank you deary" she smiled - what was with her? She was being confident and talkative and when was this nervous coma going to hit her? She had to wonder. Probably the moment the minister of magic walked in.

Kyle looked up as Melaine walked in - looking at what she was wearing made her feel just a tad under dressed. She didn't mind though some people could pull of ravishing blue dresses she just didn't think that pertained to her. "Hello" she waved to Melaine standing next to the sandwich tray still - her plate still sitting on the edge like it were a teeter-totter in the making.

When she hear Preston speaking she just smiled - he seemed like a sweet kid really. Kid? He was only a few years younger than her - it must have been those big curls that made her think of him as a little first year - and then it hit her he looked familiar to her, very familiar.

"You look familiar to me as well" she admitted with a smile, "and its a good thing that won't happen to you - heels aren't comfortable." She smiled and noticed him following her gaze, "you should go introduce yourself" she whispered over to him.

And almost like magic he did bringing the girl a cupcake. That was sweet. Picking one up she took a bite out of it - wow. That was sweet.

Her attention was drawn back to Victoria as she was commenting on her job. "Well - yeah, I'm just waiting for something to go wrong like me having to follow the minister and accidentally knocking him over with my lack of well, grace." She chuckled, "And you probably are much better at writing than you think you are" she smiled over to her - what she wasn't one to let someone put themselves down and take it lightly.

Kyle had stepped back from the conversation for a moment and looked around as everyone was getting to know each other. She felt like she was in some sort of fish tank and it was feeding time - only she was the food. Taking a deep breath she seemed to gulp for air.

Air finally came when another person walked into the room. He looked nice and he was the latest addition to the room. When he said hello and welcome to level one it was clear he had been there longer than most and he was probably a higher up in the food chain of who leads who.

Taking a few steps over she smiled at the man who had walked in. He looked nice. It was a little more like feeding frenzy now with him eyeing all the new staff.

"Hello" she smiled over to Alexander as he walked in - he was a little closer to Jade at the time and she took a few steps closer to the two of them. "I'm Kyleigh Manning the new scribe" she smiled and turning her attention back to Jade she spoke once more "Pardon me but did you attend Beauxbatons Academy?" She asked.

Odd question for a first meeting.

To herself Victoria laughed a little, what a nightmare for something like that to happen. Depending on how it all went out, she wouldn't want to show her face around the Minister every again. "That wouldn't be a good thing to have happen," she said to Kyle. "I'm not so sure about that. From working so much in school my handwriting hasn't been that great either," she included. It didn't bother her too much, she didn't care much. If you can read it at all, thats what mattered.

Rowan walked up and into the room. Ugh, the joys of having to meet new people... He truly didn't want to do it, not without his fiancé by his side, he despised meeting new people...

David was still on a high when he got an owl from the Ministry that he got the position he wanted. He made sure everything, even himself were prepared for the first day. He found himself entering the break room where everyone seemed to assemble in the morning and at break time.

Gah. Too. Many. People.

He felt himself wanting to just run out the door and stay outside where he was most comfortable, but then that wasn’t proper. Besides, he didn’t know anybody yet and that he has to make friends, or at least acquaintances. To his delight, he found a table full of food. It seems the Ministry was generous enough to throw a welcome party for the noobs. He made his way toward the table and got himself a butterbeer.

GlugGlugGlug.

Stepping inside the break room, Konrad wondered what in the world was he thinking about when he decided to show up. Sure, the new employees deserved a 'welcome to the Ministry' party, but he hadn't exactly been in the mood for... anything at all. He wasn't even sure what he was supposed to wear, so he settled for a grey shirt with the sleeved neatly rolled up to his elbows, and a pair of dark jeans. Casual, but not too casual.

Looking around, he realized that he didn't really know anyone who was around there, whether new or old employee. Well, that meant only one thing. Cupcakes!

Rowan smiled nervously, "I think it is normal to feel nervous." HE certainly did, too. And he appeared to be a bit older than all of these employees. That was kind of embarrassing.

He instinctively scratched his head, his nervous thing.

"Nice to meet you, Jade."

What now? Could he get on with some work, please?

Oh, another greeting. Rowan was certainly planning an escape route, because he had never had so many people talking to him at once and it freaked him out.

"Hello, Victoria." He shook her extended hand with a smile, "I'm Rowan Nicholls. Brand new. First day." Yup. Nod, nod.


So, she was a scribe as well? This inwardly bothered him a bit, because what Rowan desired, was an independent job that was completely down to him for completing. "Oh, excellent. How many more scribes are there?" It had better be just the two of them. And now she was getting herself into a tizzy, and Rowan just stared at her, wide-eyed.

"Do you often speak so quickly?..."

He definitely needed her to repeat that in English.

Rowan laughed, one of his ridiculously annoying laughs, as she had too much food in her mouth to respond. "Yeah, I kind of guessed you were nervous. Don't worry, I am, too." But they could help each other out, ya know?! SCRIBES UNITED.

Muahahahaha...

"You're funny." He giggled at her shoe story. Strange, but funny.

Layla clicked into the breakroom, not smiling at first because well, it was not something she did right off the bat and without reason. She was at this welcome shindig to meet and greet though so she replaced the almost line that her mouth had formed to a slight smile.

She nodded at all the familiar workers and gave a curt nod to those who she figured were new. As liaison officer for their department, she knew she had to eventually know them all and well too, just to ensure everyone kept their level and the minister looking good.

Victoria came to work in a good mood and high energy as she would have a number of new workers today on Level one.

She went into the break room, stopped at the door, looked around and smiled. There was mingling and smiles everywhere. Proceeding into the break room, Vicky, turned and saw the media liaison, Layla. She nodded in her direction.

Soon enough, she saw the table with the food and....cupcakes. She headed over toward it snatch one to devour.

When Rowan asked if she often spoke so quickly she had to think and really she had no idea weather it was an entirely common thing or an only when really nervous thing. Her cheeks flamed even brighter as he laughed at her trying to speak with food in her mouth. Classy Manning classy.

"Oh yeah I'm a ministry scribe - I believe there's only the two of us" she answered his question about how many scribes there were.

When he said he was nervous as well it did help her to calm down just a tad. "Oh thank you - most of the time funny things happen around me and they aren't even planned" she chuckled it was true things just followed her like omens of bad luck. Maybe owning a black cat wasn't a good thing for this clumsy little sprite.

Kyleigh looked up as another woman walked into the room. She looked almost severe in her features but she was beautiful none the less. The kind of woman who if Kyleigh had met her when she was younger would have set her little timid knees to quaking. And still even now they did - but she didn't think anything bad would happen because of it.

She was wrong.

Losing her footing just a little bit she thrust her hand backward to find balance through the table. Her hand however hit her percariously placed sandwich and set its remains tumbling through the air.

The flush faced blond girl looked up when she heard someone else walking through the door. This woman looked nice, Kyle had to notice it was impossible to notice the radiating good mood that was flowing off of her in waves. When the woman neared the table Kyle turned to her and smiled. "Hello - those cupcakes are divine" she smiled. "I'm Kyleigh Manning by the way" she smiled happily.

Ahhh, the new scribe.

Alexander smiled at her. She looked young enough to be working here, which is a really good thing. Some people don't really work at this age you know. Alexander was just happy to see young, new and fresh people on the job. It was a good sign. "Nice to meet you Miss Manning" or does she prefer to be called Kyleigh instead? Either way, it's still nice to meet her around.

Oh great, there were more people coming in to join the party and this time a new face as well. Alexander hasn't really met him before and probably him too. This is a great way to start a conversation "Welcome to Level 1. I'm Alexander Kim" he said gesturing a hand to the young lad. "I'm one of the Minter's Advisors" he stated his job position. It was better to get know each other this way. "How about you?" he added, smiling.

Then another fine good-looking lad came in again but it seems the young ones were the ones not speaking the most. There's no need to be shy, all Level 1 employees are not that hard to approach, really. Alexander approached the young man on the buffet table and gave himself a drink as well. "Good day to you" good day indeed. "Join the party, welcome to Level 1" he said smiling at him. Yes, there's plenty of people to mingle with.

Oh, and he almost forgot...

"I'm Alexander Kim, one of the Minister's Advisors" he said, gesturing for a handshake with his free hand. "How about you?" name? Job description?

Ahhh, finally a very familiar face, even though Alexander has never been acquainted with this person. Well, at least he knows him because he has saw him from time to time especially during work hours. Plus, this man has been in the Ministry for quite long. Of course Alexander would definitely know who he is. "Mr. Scherfig, isn't it?" was his pronunciation correct too? Alexander looked at him, now that he thinks about it, his name has an Alexander too.

It was nice to meet a familiar face, "Alexander Kim" he smiled at him. "Nice to meet you" he added.


Speaking of familiar faces, another one has walked inside for the party. What was her name again? Layla Roxanne Dacosta... Alexander already took the liberty of getting to know all the names of the employees in Level 1. It would be rather embarrassing not to know the people he works with. He has been working as the Minister's Advisor for 2 years already.

"uhmm, Layla Roxanne Dacosta" he said, giving the lady a smile "Nice to finally meet you" Alexander has been acquainted to some but not to all. So this party is the time for him to finally get acquainted with them.

Senior Undersecretary, Victoria Daniels has finally arrived in the building. Alexander walked towards to him as he brought her some cold drink. She seems to be in a good mood too. Well, who doesn't? Their were so many new faces. "Good morning Senior Undersecretary" he said giving her a small nod and smile while offering her the drink on his other hand. "Everyone seems to be having fun" he added. Yes, just look at everyone. Most of them are already finding new friends. That's a good sign.

Oh, of course, he smiled at her "I'm Alexander Kim, one of the Minister's Advisors" they both haven't been acquainted yet so it was only formal to do so. No need for her introductions, Alexander already knows her.

Layla retunred the nod that the Senior Undersecretary gave in her direction and added a smile. Good woman, she loved her drive and she certainly admired the way she carried out her job. Her eyes followed her until she approach the table, then Layla's eyes returned to combing the room for new and old faces.

Her attention was quickly drawn to a young blonde who seemed to trip over nothing...O_O..Whaaa? That was certainly something one didn't see everyday. She did her best to not stare at the woman because she was sure that would further embarrass her.

And then then one of the minister's advisors approached her. It was a man whom she was working with for a while, a little over a year now since transferring to the department. She had passed him more than a few times but exchanging nothing more than a curt nod or so. She returned his smile and offered her hand to him to shake. "Layla works. It is a pleasure to officially meet you too."

Just as he was about to take a bite out of the second cupcake (and no, he won't allow himself to eat more of those tiny bits of heaven, because other employees probably wanted some as well), Konrad heard a slightly familiar voice behind him, and he instantly turned around to see who it was. Ah, Alexander Kim. He'd seen him around, since they worked in the same department, but they've never actually met.

"That's me." Although 'Mr Scherfig' made him feel awfully old. Older than he already was. "It's nice meeting you, too," he said with a smile, holding out his hand to shake Alexander's, glad that the cupcake was in his left hand. Heh. "Please call me Konrad. I'm not that fond of these formalities," he chuckled. Well, he'd use Sir or Mr or so on only if needed, but just between co-workers... it was alright not using those, wasn't it?

GlugGlug. “Hmm. This party needs some upbeat music. Y’know, to give it a little life…” he thought to himself as he put down his empty mug of Butterbeer. “A few lights, maybe?” Then a man approached him and introduced himself as Alexander Kim, one of the Minister’s Advisors.

He took the outstretched hand of Mr. Kim, and shook it. “A pleasure to meet you, sir.” He said in reply. “I’m David Madine, one of the new Magical Architects.” He added. “Well you sir, have an awesome job.” He said nodding as he got himself another Butterbeer. “What’s it like working for Mr. Greingoth?” he asked as he kept his other hand inside his trousers' pocket, and lifted the mug with his other hand to his lips. Working for the Minister must be tiring and stressful, but he was sure it was really rewarding.

"I'm one of the new magical carpenters." Preston shared with a smile. He was actually extremely excited for this position although like his brother had pointed out, there would be a much larger potential for Preston to accidentally mess things up because of his clumsiness. But Preston was braced for that, he couldn't control when his clumsy attacks happened, they just did. He was ready to fix anything that he messed up because of them though.

"What about you?" he questioned. Maybe he was going to be working alongside of her.

Preston laughed in response, "I'm sure they aren't." He said nodding his head. He had never really hear his Aunt Lauren complain about wearing her heels, but then again as a fashion designer she was probably used to wearing the painful contraptions on a daily basis. Preston couldn't help but wonder if her feet were just numbed all the time from wearing the shoes.

Cocking his head to the side, Preston thought back really hard to his days at Hogwarts. He knew he had seen her around, but he couldn't exactly put a finger on it.
