Junior Undersecretary's Office

The Junior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic has an office area found toward the back of the Minister of Magic's Office. If you need to meet with the Junior Undersecretary or the Minister of Magic, you must first check in at the front desks and wait to be called back by a member of the Administration team. If you need to meet with the Minister of Magic, you must first check in with Administration and then check in with the Undersecretary. Anyone bypassing the front desks or Undersecretaries risks having Security called and being escorted out the office.

The spacious office area contains a desks, two bookcases full of work-related literature lining the walls. There are two closed doors beside the side wall, and a brass nameplate on the right door indicates that this is the entrance to the Senior Undersecretary to Minister of Magic's Office. Outside of those specifics, the office area is beautifully decorated with portraits and paintings lining the walls and several potted plants positioned around the room.

Alexander opened the door to his new office and then stepped inside. Oddly enough, it was his first time ever being in the place, as he'd been offered the job and hired on a whim. In his mind, he took that thought back and then changed it to--it was his first time being in this office as Senior Undersecretary. He'd worked on level one years before, and then of course his ex-wife had once occupied the place. He wasn't too unfamiliar with it.

He frowned a little as he realized the place would need a small amount of decorating. He'd call for his assistants later on and have them add at least a plant or a portrait. For now, though, he was waiting on the Andrei man, and so he assumed the seat behind his desk and retrieved a file from a cabinet.

Ryuu followed the fellow into the...Undersecretaries office. Oh man.

"Forgive my ignorance, good sir...but I couldn't have possibly done anything wrong. I just got here," he grinned. He approached the desk the man sat at and waited patiently. He never sat unless invited to do so.

Alexander had been glancing through the file he'd pulled from the cabinet when the Andrei man came into the room. He hadn't knocked, Alexander noted, but he'd let it slide for now since he had invited the man in. Alexander's eyebrows rose upward. Done something wrong? Now what could have given the man that idea, hmm?

He tossed the file onto the desk and then sat up in his chair. "Of course not, Andrei," he replied, and then motioning to an area in front of his desk, he added, "Take a seat, please." His eyes flickered up to the area he'd motioned to, and upon noticing that there wasn't a chair actually there, he frowned and then summoned one from across the room. It came neatly to a stop in front of his desk.

"Thank you," Ryuu responded politely, taking a seat in the offered chair. As he sat, though, he glanced at the file that had been tossed down. It made him raise an eyebrow as he leaned back in the seat.

"Was there something wrong with my application?" That was his file this man was looking at. "I assure you...all information was accurate."

Alexander nodded in response to the appreciation, and then he sat back in his chair once again. Folding his hands together on the desk in front of him, he looked over at Andrei and said, "Something wrong with your application? Of course not. We'd have settled that before hiring you had that been the case."

"Nor do I doubt your information is anything less than accurate," he continued. He reached for the file and opened it, thumbing through the paperwork as he spoke. "Your application and your employment are both just fine, Mr. Andrei. I just needed to speak with your regarding some last minute legalities, that's all." He frowned as he didn't immediately see the form he was looking for.

It wasn't about his form? Ryuu raised an eyebrow, appearing to be very confused. "I don't understand. Last minute legalities? Of what sort?"

"Our records indicate that a registration on your part is in order," he answered. Figuring that the form had been misplaced and wasn't indeed in the file, Alexander spun around in his chair and placed the file back into the cabinet it'd come from. "There's a form you'll need to fill out, and I was hoping it'd be in your file, but I see that it isn't." He frowned at that, but then glanced back up at the man with a composed expression. "Level four is where you'll find the Werewolf Registry Unit."

A form? Ryuu opened his mouth to interject and ask what form could possibly be so important, when the gentleman mentioned the Werewolf Registry Unit.

"Ah," was the next word from Ryuu's mouth, while his gaze lowered down to the floor. He didn't remember disclosing that on the application. He suddenly stood up, smoothing out his clothes. His gaze still wouldn't meet that of the man's.

"Right. Okay. Is that all?"

Nolan had his bag strapped over his shoulder, which had been charmed to hold all the things he needed to decorate his new office. He wasn't about to bring all his books and stuff that he'd had in his office at Hogwarts--those could stay at him--but he DID have a quartz crystal ball and a few decks of tarot cards stored in there. What ELSE was he supposed to do during those boring lulls in activity during the day? Crossword puzzles? He didn't think so.

He opened the doors to his office, trying to picture the exact layout of all his photo frames, when he stopped short. Oh. There was the Senior Undersecretary. And someone else that he didn't know. Had he just interrupted a meeting?! EEP HOW EMBARRASSING.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I was just going to settle into my desk...should I come back later?" he asked, his face turning into a tomato as he spoke. What a greatttt first impression to make on Alexander. Him barging right into the office without even checking to see if he was busy because he was too busy mentally decorating his desk. Niceeeee Reynolds. Very nice.

Alexander gazed up at the man in disbelief. The man had just decided, on his own accord, that their meeting was over, and then stood from his chair and asked such a question as--Is that all? "It seems you've decided as much, yes?" he remarked. When the door opened, and Reynolds walked in, Alexander nodded once toward Ryuu. "Thank you, Mr. Andrei," he said, and as an after thought added, "Have a nice day."

"What do you think, Mr. Reynolds?" Alexander asked, answering a question with a question. "Do you think it'd be reasonable for you to step outside each and every time I have a guest?" If that was the case, the man may as well set up a pup tent in the hallways. He nodded once toward the man's desk. "I believe your desk is waiting for you."

Ryuu simply stood in his spot, torn between leaving and...,oddly, staying. His focus for broken for a second when another gentleman walked in, but went back to thinking.

He then sat back down. "I'm sorry," he apologized as he realized his actions may have been rash, folding his hands in his lap. "If I may ask...how did you find out? I was assured that that information would remain confidential back home."

Nolan was slightly taken aback, and had to stop himself from narrowing his eyes slightly at the senior undersecretary. Wasn't it OBVIOUS what he had meant? He KNEW he wasn't going to leave every time, he just wasn't sure if he should leave NOW cause they'd clearly started the conversation when he wasn't there so it could be very private...

Well whatever. Someone was snippy. He needed some jelly slugs or something to cheer him up!

"Of course not, I was simply wondering if this particular conversation was something you wanted to hold alone...no matter, though," he said with a polite smile. Kill them with kindness, that's what he'd always been taught! He'd just ignore the one...or ten...sarcastic comebacks his brain was currently thinking of.

He wandered over to his desk and opened his bag, quietly unpacking the picture frames he'd placed on top. He hoped they didn't think he was eavesdropping cause he totally wasn't...he reallly WAS concentrating that hard on where his engagement photo with Ginger was going to go on his desk.

He took decorating his office VERY seriously. Very seriously indeed.

Alexander had long since got back to looking through some random paperwork that had been placed on his desk even before he'd arrived at work. He could see the Andrei man out of the corner of his eye, yet his attention was primarily on the paperwork.

He was just about to ask the man if he needed assistance finding his way out when the man spoke up and apologized. With his eyebrows raised, Alexander glanced up from his paperwork. "Mr. Andrei, you are employed as an Adviser to the highest ranked governmental official in wizarding London," he reminded him. "You can be rest assured that we've completed thorough background checks on you as well as every employee you've seen in our offices today." He paused before adding, "I'm sure there's a pretty thick file lying around here somewhere with my name on it, as well."

As he sat back in his chair and folded his hands together just in front of him, Alexander glanced at Reynolds out of the corner of his eye. He however said nothing, but if the new Junior Undersecretary dared to ever ask Alexander to step out the office for one reason or another, he'd have plenty to say then.

Yeah.

Great.

Thick file.

This isn't about you, Mr. Man Behind the Desk!

"Would it be unreasonable for me to believe that this specific tidbit of information will not leave this room? Or, is it policy to inform the coworkers that they are in the vicinity of someone that could, possibly, eat them?" Ryuu managed a slight grin at that, though. He couldn't ALWAYS be serious about this. It would drive him psycho.

With his brown eyes still turned toward the Andrei man, Alexander put down his paperwork and swiveled his chair around to face the man. "Tell me, Mr. Andrei," he said. "Have you heard of any other werewolves, animagi, or the like employed on this level or anywhere else in the Ministry?" He paused for a few moments, letting his question linger in the air for a bit before continuing. "I rest assure you there are plenty of others." In other words, yes--your secret is safe. "I called you into the privacy of my office to discuss the matter, hmm?" Alexander studied the man for a few seconds, taking note of the grin on his face, and then...the Senior Undersecretary grinned, as well.

No, he wasn't a completely no-nonsense man.

Ok. Nolan couldn't help it. He eavesdropped JUST a bit. EAT them?! What on EARTH...as Nolan continued to unpack, he found himself listening to Alexander's response. Ahhh. Werewolves. That made more sense. Well, since Nolan didn't plan on spending copious amounts of overtime working into the wee hours of the night when that might ACTUALLY be a problem, he didn't see the fuss.

He kept his mouth shut, even though he was tempted to tell them that they didn't need to worry, he wouldn't utter a word to anyone either, but he'd already embarrassed himself earlier and he was too busy pretending to not hear as he unpacked. Besides, it was implied that he'd keep quiet, he was IN the room, yes? So he just kept right on working away.

Andrei thought about the question and then shrugged. "Well, that's not a fair question, Sir. I've only been in the country a short time. I haven't really had a chance to meet many or hear anything," he grinned.

"I'm sorry. You will have to forgive me...I don't believe I've heard your name..?"

"Alexander Greingoth," he said. Hmm. He'd thought he said his name, but then again, it was possible that in the hustle and bustle of the morning's activities, he'd forgotten to introduce himself to one or two of the new employees. Extending his hand for a shake, he added, "...and to answer your question in a more straightforward way, it is not our policy to share your status as a werewolf to the general population of employees here at the Ministry. They won't know unless you choose to tell them so."

"Mr. Reynolds," he said, glancing over at the Junior Undersecretary, "would you please ask Miss Medea Ward to come into the office?" It wasn't too much to ask Reynolds to stop his picture arranging for a split second to go and retrieve the Ward woman, no? No. He didn't think so.

Through the lobby and into his office she followed behind him by about 5 steps. Medea looked toward the main doors to the lobby for the possibility of the Minister arriving. But no such luck. Hopefully this meeting would be swift and she could be excused.

Part of her felt as though she was summoned to the principal’s office. On the other hand, maybe he would be informing her that she was an excellent employee and would be receiving a promotion. Or maybe that she was completely good looking and he was some kind of prince and he wanted to swish her off to a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. Ugh.life.sucks.right.now.

Showing no emotion the dark haired woman stopped when she was in front of what she assumed was his desk. There were chairs, but she was not asked to sit so she stood, hands intertwined in front of her. Silently she waited for him to start the meeting, or had it already started? Either way, she’d wait for him to speak and explain the topic of which this meeting was for.

Alexander said nothing as he moved from the work area and back into his office. As he walked in, he eyed the Reynolds man. He'd asked him to go and retrieve the Ward woman, yet the new Junior Undersecretary seemed a bit preoccupied with rearranging his picture frames. "Please don't bother yourself with doing any work," Alexander moodily grumbled, "I've retrieved the Ward woman myself." He finished that with a warning look. He didn't expect that to happen again.

He summoned a chair which came to a stop next to Andrei man. "That will be all, Mr. Andrei," he said, noticing the man was still lingering around. After all, Alexander had been the one to call the man into the office, not the other way around. "Unless there's something else I can do for you?" His eyebrows rose just a little, causing a questioning expression to spread across his face.

He adjusted his chair and then turned toward the Ward woman. "First off, congratulations on your new position as Internal Liaison Supervisor. I've got your first assignment ready for you," he began, pulling out a file and passing it over to her. "You'll be assisting us in hiring one department liaison from each level of the Ministry of Magic. You can take the next couple of weeks to meet with each department head separately and discuss with them what we're looking for and what sort of qualifications these liaisons need to have."

He leaned forward just a little and tapped the area below each liaison job title, pointing out how it detailed the qualifications. "Now that's what we're aiming for, although we do have a little leeway here and there if a department head has someone else in mind," he added. "...someone they think would do a better job." He leaned back in his chair again and folded his hands in front of him. He'd wait to continue just in case the woman had any questions or something else to say.

Medea loved it when people exercised their authority. Her brows rose upward and her lips pursed as she examined both men he sternly addressed. Cutting her eyes at each of them she judged examined them. Neither man had many qualities that she would consider to be outstanding. From what she could tell anyways.

Echoing Mr. Greingoth’s movements she sat and pulled her judgmental gaze from the other men. The woman never sat back in the chair, she didn’t want to appear sloppy or lazy. ”Thank you sir.” She nodded; this man was all business and no non-sense. He was certainly someone she could see herself working for, or with for a long time.

Leaning forward slightly she took the folder and flipped it open, gazing at it and then back to Mr. All Business. Greatness, her first assignment! She’d totally own this assignment. As she listened Medea realized the awesome nature of this assignment. She would be hand picking her very own minions. Mwahaha! The dark haired woman took notice of the qualifications. These people would have to be nearly as incredible and accomplished as she was. This would be an extremely difficult task.

Taking it all in she looked up once more, ”Sir, are the department heads expecting this?” She wanted to know if the men and women she’d be meeting with were expecting to lose an employee. Other than that she fully understood the assignment, and it would get her full attention until it was done.

"They are not," Alexander truthfully answered. "You, Miss Ward, will be the one to give them the message." It's what he'd hired her as Internal Liaison Supervisor for. He'd hoped she'd have the ability to meet with the department heads from time to time to discuss with them what was needed in the liaison field.

"He leaned forward and pointed to a part of the file he'd given her. "Now the job description does need updating, I see." Hmm. Looks like it hadn't been changed yet, and they'd made a few changes to the descriptions here recently. "The liaisons will not be leaving their own levels, but they'll be working as both liaison and whatever else it is they normally do on their own level. Please make sure this is clear when you speak with the department heads." The last thing he needed was for the department heads to get alarmed over the thought of their employees being permanently pulled from their departments and positions.

"If that's all, then we've all got a meeting to attend," he said, referring to the meeting he'd called that was meant to be taking place in the conference room shortly. "Reynolds, Andrei," he said, standing and walking toward the door. He stood from his desk and headed toward the door, exiting through it several seconds later.

She nodded as she moved her hair behind her ear. Not a problem, she can handle informing the Department Heads of the opportunity for their employees. Medea looked on as he made changes to the files, ”I’m sure they’ll be glad to hear they’re not losing the employee entirely.” Either way it wasn’t her problem; she expected the men and women under her to give her their complete attention at all times.

”Yes of course, I’ll get started on this immediately.” She took the folder with the job descriptions, stood and followed him out of the room as she was to attend the same meeting.

Jenna made her way to Senior Undersecretaries office and breathed in and out deeply.This was all sooo exciting,really the blonde was soo happy with her job.It was amazing.When the 23year old had gotten the message to come here she had expected the worst but what could she have done? Straightenign her dress and looking into her handmirror one last time she shook of all the worried and knocked on the door.

Now to wait for an answer,that would be the worst part.
