Oh. Right place, got it. A newbie to the Ministry? Man, he had remembered those days, over two years ago now but Legend still could remember stepping into the ministry thinking how he now official worked in the place. It was the exact day when he vowed to become a KNOWN Auror. "Oh." He looked around and shrugged. "If they don't weigh your wand who cares? Their fault. Their demotion." Said, man-boy training to protect people. "I can take you to level three if you want. Not out of my way really." Or maybe he could figure out how to weigh her wand if she REALLY wanted? Legend had no clue why he felt the need to be helpful when he was this late. |
Who cares? What kind of Ministry are they running here? Laura obeyed the rules. ALWAYS. "My letter of offer clearly stated that I must present my wand for weighing upon entrance into the Ministry." It would be just her luck that on her very first day she should get into trouble for not following the rules because this dolt told her it didn't matter. So not happening. "Your offer is most kind and I'll gladly take you up on it. AFTER I have my wand weighed." She would stand here all day if she had to. Lucky she was early. |
"Really? Well gee, that sure is interesting." No. No it wasn't. Why wait here all day if no one was here to weigh her wand. Was the woman actually scared that she would get in trouble for not having her wand weighed? Lose points or something? Wasn't she mature enough to realize that school days were long gone? Even Legend knew that. "Listen Miss...." Whatever you name was. Your letter said she had to present the wand but it had not said to who. Legend smiled. "I can weigh your wand for you and bam, we'll both be off!" Legend Chosen YATI extraordinaire to the help! |
Laura stared at him for a moment and then let out a small sound of exasperation as she held out her wand to him. "Well why didn't you say that before?" Instead of wasting her time. That's half an hour of her life she'll never get back. She clasped her hands in front of her and raised her eyebrows. Well don't just stand there kid. Go. Weigh wand. And hurry up. |
It wasn't as though Legend had ever weighed a wand before, but it saw it happen all the time. You just placed the wand on the thing and then it weighed and you got a small slip and you were done! In theory at least. Taking the wand from the woman, Legend leaned over the small desk to where he saw the scale. He placed the wand on it and nothing happened. Hm. Taking a glance at the woman he looked back at the scale and gave it a flick. Suddenly a small slip of paper came out of one end of the machine. Legend grabbed the paper and the wand and passed it back to the woman. "All done. I didn't happen to get your name Miss." |
Did he know what he was doing? Laura wasn't going to end up with a wand that was broken, was she? When he glanced back at her, she actually sucked in a breath, if he did anything to her wand she would...well she wouldn't be able to do anything without her wand. She sighed in relief when he handed it back to her and she gave him a small smile. "It's Laura." she said and hesitantly holding out her hand. "Laura Beaumont. And your name?" |
It was actually his first time here! He had made it! He was accepted at the Ministry and the first step towards his dream job was complete! Jory could not have been more pleased. But he knew there was a lot more to be done. Jory grinned at the witch there as he passed her. He didn't need her help. He decided he would find things out on his own. Or at least try to. He marveled at the huge Golden Gates as he passed through them on his was to the Atrium. This was going to be an exciting experience! |

Like how many seconds it took her to make Joao irritated with her on their first day of working together. She walked along behind him, quietly, wondering what was in his briefcase. Aspen at work. |
Quote:
"Good morning, Aspen," he said with a warm smile. He was calm. He was simply going to act as if she never hexed him. He remembered it again that she wasn't quite happy with his working there and it pained him once more. He did his best to not let it show. Was she going to hex him again? |
Quote:
Aspen's eyes trailed UPPPP and DOOWWWN the Minister's new personal assistant. She was careful to not let her attention linger too long on his briefcase. Even if she'd have a battle of morals on whether or not she'd actually go THROUGH what was in it later, Aspen Odessa wasn't going to be able to rest until she took his briefcase. "Good morning, Joao." She wasn't all smiles and preoccupation like him though. He'd told her not to worry, so she wasn't going to. Or not let him know if she was. "Do you want me to get you a YATI escort to your floor?" |
Quote:
"No, thank you. I think I can manage by myself." He would have liked HER to escort him, but she didn't even smile out of respect to his being there. He wasn't going to compel her to stick to him. If anything, he was going to try to avoid her at work as much as he could. ...nah. She certainly didn't hex him to make him sick and take a few days off before starting the job. She wasn't THAT evil or... mentally disturbed. Yeah. "Shall we?" He indicated to the atrium behind him. He didn't know about her, but he certainly had an office to be at punctually. |
Quote:
Aspen had MEANT her though... her, the YATI. Merlin she hated being a YATI. How much longer til graduation? At Joao's shall we, Aspen did finally smile at him. "You want off-duty Aspen to walk you in." Why was that so pleasing? She shouldn't be smiling so happily at him. Aspen took her badge out of her pocket and handed it to him. Off-duty. "I can show you some good hiding places later, if you get a break from all your personal assisting." |

João didn't know why or how he had become so dependant on them, but he was relaxed and truly calm upon seeing her smile. And the smile was a happy one, as if she was pleased for that idea. "Yes," he said with a grin of his own. "Please." Hiding places? He knew their importance as well as she did, and he would make time to see those. He stuffed her badge into his trousers' pocket and offered his LEFT hand to her. Two could play this game. |
Quote:
There he was.... Game on, indeed! Aspen's smile turned positively wicked when he took her left hand, her wand hand, handicapping her from hexing him again. Smart boy. She was glad he was playing. And that he wasn't... just all nervous ninny. Aspen made a quiet vow to pick her badge out of his pocket before reaching his level. "Do you have idea what the Minister will have you doing today?" |
For Ro and Sarah. :3 Why was she doing this again? Alysson had been asking herself this over and over again on the way here. Yes, January seemed like a nice enough person so USUALLY she wouldn't have minded showing her around. Had it not been for the fact that WILLIAM had simply invited her to tag along to what was supposed to be THEIR tour through the Ministry. Not that she would say anything. Of course not. Again, January seemed like a nice enough person. Alysson was waiting INSIDE the gates, seeing as she'd come to work early and had already been downstairs to check a few files. And now she was back here. Actually, she wasn't entirely sure where the other two would come from which was why her gaze flicked back and forth between the corridor through which she had come and the entrance. |

"Hello again," she said with a smile, standing beside her. She glanced around. "No Will yet?" Apparently not. She'd have to get after him if he was late. |
"I'M HERE! I'M HEREEEE!" William shouted as he came jogging into the Atrium, running a little late as usual. His mostly-tied necktie hung askew from his shirt, which was only half tucked-in to his pants. But he was HERE! On timeish! "Hiiiiiiii," he breathed as he jogged to a stop beside Alysson. He flashed her a charming crooked smile and one to January as well. And then, because he probably should, he finished tucking in his shirt. WOOO! Ready! |
Oh. And there was January. "Hey." Alysson turned her head to offer the woman a smile. Because it really wasn't HER fault. At her next words, Aly looked at her for a moment longer before allowing her eyes to scan their surroundings once more. She was about to shrug and tell her no when the man in question DID arrive. Who looked really excited for this. "So we can start then? Unless you invited anyone else...?" Nope, not one hint of bitterness there. No. Okay, maybe a liiiiittle. Alysson smiled at him then though and briefly glanced at January before gesturing towards something to their right. "The most important part of the Ministry for some-" Yes, you, Willy. "-is probably the Food Court over there." They were NOT going to go there now, however. |
Well, that answered her question. January watched William arrive to the scene looking like he had just barely gotten dressed thirty seconds ago. And hadn't quite finished. She smiled back at him and laughed quietly to herself. "Nice of you to join us." January thought she had detected a note of... unpleasantness when Alysson suggested that William invited anyone else. But naaahh, she probably just made it up. Anyway, the food court. Looked nice. "Is the food decent?" she wondered out loud. The Ministry in Italy didn't even have a food court when she was there, so at least this was convenient for the workers. |

Anyway. He straightened up and stood next to January, still grinning some. Nice of him to join them indeed! "Nice of YOU to join US," he murmured back to her from the side of his mouth. Didn't want to be too loud and make Tour!Guide!Aly mad! Shhhhhhhshhhhhhshhhhhhhh. He followed Alysson's gesturing toward the food court. "Does it matter if the food is good or not?" Food was food, and was energy, and obviously William didn't have enough of THAT. Heh. |
Excuse me, William, shallow?! xD Wait..............of course she should have known that they would want to know more about the food court. William probably wanted to go there right now and never leave. With a small sigh Alysson first looked at January. "It's alright." It wasn't the best food in the world but it wasn't bad either. Meaning, it WAS okay to go there for lunch once in a while. "Are you hungry?" This was more directed at William, though she was looking back and forth between both him and January. She supposed they COULD go see the food court. Plus, she still wasn't sure if they would want to see every single department or just the interesting parts of the Ministry outside the departments. |
January's lips twitched into a smile at William's little side-mouth comment there and nudged him in the arm with her elbow. Funny boy. So, the food was alright. "Good to know." And yes whether the food was good or not was important to her. She wasn't gonna eat nasty food. But obviously, William was a boy and would eat anything. Was she hungry? "I'm not really," she said, but she figured Alysson was mostly talking to William, so she looked at him and waited for a response. |
*whistles* Eh, the food was just alright? "I'm sure it's edible," William felt a need to reassure both of them, while at the same time craning his neck slightly to get a peek of the place. Was he hungry? Was that a rhetorical question? He started chuckling before he realized what he was doing, and hastily stopped. "I mean, I could always go for a bite... but if you two aren't..." he looked at them both, and neither of them looked particularly hungry... "then we should probably look at the more important things in the Ministry." He gave their tour guide a firm, professional nod, and shoved his hands in the pockets of his suit. Oh well, he could always visit the Food Court later, like at tea time. Or second breakfast time. Mhm! |
Alysson tried to keep her face blank but couldn't quite refrain from smiling slightly when William started to chuckle. OF COURSE he was hungry. Her gaze stayed on only him for a moment longer before she shook her head slightly and included January as well again. "Alright. No food then. For now." They could always come back later. But William had reminded her of why they were here again. Which brought on her next question. "Well, if we go downstairs from here-" She gestured towards the general direction of the lower level lifts. "-there's the Department of Mysteries and another floor down are the Courtrooms." Pause. "You don't really want to go there." Unless either of them REALLY wanted to see. Though, there wasn't anything going on down there right now so it would be quite boring. "So I suggest we go up?" She looked at both of them expectantly, waiting for some kind of reaction from them. Yes? Alysson still wasn't entirely sure WHAT exactly they wanted to see. |
January glanced at William. He was such a boy when it came to food, wasn't he? She laughed lightly to herself and shook her head. Ah, the courtrooms below. The historic courtrooms "Let's go up," she agreed with a nod, waiting for Alysson to take the lead. She was the guide, after all. And just for sake of conversation..., "How long have you worked here?" she asked, peeking around William to address the other woman. |
