Evander came as soon as Izzy's patronus reached him. He cursed under his breath as he practically ran up to the Atrium. With everything going on, everything finally in place to take the cult down, as well as all the usual MLE related problems like murders in Knockturn Alley, missing Diagon Alley shopkeepers and other strange disappearances, Van hadn't slept in days.
He didn't draw his wand as he approached and in fact he raised his voice, intending to be heard by his own employees and obeyed.
"Wands away." He glanced around at them. They were just doing their jobs. "They are not the enemy, MLE." Van nudged through the crowd and stepped into the fountain himself, offering one hand in supplication to Gina Latorta.
"Will you give me just a moment of your time, Gina? I have to ask you something of the utmost importance." He spoke gravely and his expression was sincere. He needed the woman's help, her cooperation, or everything would be for nothing. The safety of the people was at stake and Evander was concerned that those who were striking didn't know how very at risk they were. The cult was not simply some mundane organisation that had political power and liked flowers and trees and all that rubbish. No. They were murderers. They were tyrants. People that got in their way died or disappeared with alarming regularity. Van didn't want to see Gina one of those people.
Through all this he ignored Recard entirely.

"Just encircle the protesters for now, please guys," Gabriel said, directing his words to all who had spoken to him. All except Damien - he reserved a special grunting growl for his friend. "I just want to smash their heads together and try and get it through to them. Do you think that's legal?" he asked, turning his eyes in the Auror's direction.
When Damien mentioned Van, Gabe knew he was right. The boss would ultimately have the last word on what to do with them all. He turned his eyes on Gina. He'd tried to be reasonable with her, but it certainly didn't seem to be working. And that darn man and his shouting was not helping. Gabe was almost wishing that Lights would take up the challenge and deck him.
And when Recard showed up it was the final straw. They would deal with him in a minute, or maybe Damien would do it all by himself - that'd be fun to see. But right now, Gabriel was putting his wand to his throat to enhance his voice.
"ENOUGH!" He turned around and looked at all the protesters, a calm expression on his features. "If you wish to protest in a calm and peaceful manner inside the Ministry, then you will do so behind this cordon!" A flourish of wand and a large area was fenced off with tape and hoardings. "Anyone daring to leave it will be deemed to be committing an offence and there are plenty of MLE employees here who will arrest you and put you in holding. For your own good."
As much as it pained him to to threaten people who were trying to do good, he had to for now. "I appreciate what you are all trying to do," that was said with a shooting glance towards Recard, "but my job is to ensure the safety of EVERYONE inside this building - and I will not allow a riot to start."
Removing his wand, Gabriel walked over to Recard, and stood shoulder to shoulder with Damien. "You don't need to have your wand out, Recard. The MLE have that covered. Despite what you may believe, we're capable of doing a job without 'help'" quote marks in the air? Check. "from the Transportation Head." And if you don't Damien will hex your face off. Not that that would be a bad thing. Probably an improvement.

Then big mouth, the one he thought he had gotten rid of for good, showed up and began to smart off to him. "Damien, you're back? Merlin I need warnings for this sort of thing, I thought there had been some more hot air in the Ministry today." he said eyeing the man who was trying to tell him to put his wand away. "I am a Ministry official and I do believe I rank higher than yourself. I demand respect and I will put my wand away seeing as your Aurors seem to have things under control for once, thanks to Gaberiel here. But I am NOT leaving until things are solved and these Rioters are repremanded."
He then turned icily to Gabriel. "You listen here sir. What sort of protection are you setting up for those who are being traitors to their own government. They complain about how badly they are treated here, well they had their choice in picking their allegiances and you all in MLE know this all too well, do you need reminding?" he said his finger dangerously close to poking the guy in the chest. "Now I am not going to just stand by while the Ministry's so claimed 'finest' allow these rebels to protest our Minister Lord Borr and those loyal to him for their own ignorant reasons. Order them away this instance and if they don't leave I suggest arrests should be in order!" he said triumphantly. It is moments like these that he wished Department Heads had the right to incarcerate people themselves. He will lobby for that next time he sees his Lordship.

Wands.... away? Sonny? Really? WANDS AWAY?
Wesley growled but listened to Van, who was pretty much the only person he would listen to right now. He lowered his wand to his side, not tucking it into its holster just yet though.
He could have really used a second wand just then, because then could have stunned both Recard and LaTorta at the same time and the whole fiasco would be done with. Grunt. If only.
Wes crossed his arms menacingly and regaled himself to watching the whole scene unfold, wondering what sort of plan Van had to end this mess....

Oh this one had some spunk! Damien smiled at her and nodded his head in her direction. Heh. It was official: Damien liked this one.
Turning to the next MLE employee he raised a brow and smirked. "I think she was well within her rights to tell that guy to shove off, actually."
Turning back to Lights she said, "Good job, kid."

Whoops. he thought as he waved his wand and changed himself into his blue maintenance robes. "Lights?"
Lights whirled around at the sound of a familiar voice. "Ethan?" She spotted him and ran over. "Ethan, I thought I told you to stay with the kids! Where are they, who's looking after them?" She really wanted to have the peace of mind that her children were okay with her husband right now. She didn't need the extra worry. "I don't want you to get hurt," she whispered. "We've got it."
Hawk tooh his hand off his wand as Mr. Bole came in. He watched him talk to Gina, and hoped that Gena would see sense. And hoping even more that that other Department Head(Recard was it?), didn't continue.
He was relieved however, that they hadn't had to use wands. Sooner things calmed down, the better. Not that he didn't agree 100% with what the protestors wanted. Byrr was a arrogant tyrant, if there were elections, he never would have won. He was arrogant and mean-spirited towards everyone. Only Cultists and radical nature lovers would have voted for him. And Hawk was very sure that Byrr was just a puppet of the Cult.
But still...protesting would get you nowhere. The Cult controlled the Ministry and the news(or at least the Quibbler, judging by that issue they had a year ago). If Byrr was impeached, the judges would no doubt be Cultists, and he would be set free of charges.
Esteban looked up at Gina and wanted to cry, his heart was really breaking. He did not want to have to look into their eyes knowing that they had sort of turned on them. No it was not personal. It had nothing to do with Gina, or anyone else in his Department. This was strickly about him. And he hoped that Gina would be able to see that some day. Or maybe not.
"Gina please...you have to understand." Esteban tried and then saw Gavin from his Department as well. Oh boy, not good, he was for sure going to have to transfer Departments now....oh boy. Esteban couldn't decided what he even wanted to do anymore. No...don't be like that. You made your decision.
" I remember helping you when you first came into the International C-Oparation SEpt. " J.J. Starr told Esteban. " I really thought you were a great guy but I was compleatly wrong about you" Joe Jon Montcenaggio explained to Esteban. " How could you stab your boss in the back who wants rights for her workers and the rest of the workers":J.J. Starr asked Esteban. " TRAITOR"
he called out to Esteban. " ON STRIKE" SHUT IT DOWN" he called out loudly.

"We're reasonable people, Gina." Evander answered, calmly and quietly, like he was trying to talk someone down in a hostage situation. She was worked up, he knew that, but he also wanted her to see that they weren't the problem. That MLE were very much on the same side.
"You know we want them gone too, Gina." He lowered his voice. "You must know..." Because she'd seen some of it first hand, how the cultists, how Borr, how D'Isigny and how Armen had targeted him. Threatening his fiancee and her son, docking his pay, forcing his department to retake their apparition licenses and blocking them from doing their jobs at every turn. Yes. MLE wanted them gone perhaps more than anyone.
"I need your help. This. What you're doing, its necessary. Its a ... necessary distraction." He intentionally pitched his voice lower so that Recard wouldn't hear. Van would deal with that man soon. "We have them now. We're ready to take them. I'd say more if I could." He glanced around and then back at Gina.
"You're a smart woman. And your people are loyal to you, as mine are to me and to the Ministry itself." He was serious. "And you say you don't want a riot but worse will happen. Oh Gina, I've tried so hard to keep them from hurting anyone. What can I do? I'm just one man. Together though... all of us together, we can get rid of the Cult for good, and nobody else needs to get hurt. Please. Help us." If she continued, who knew what the cult would do in response? And his people would lose the element of surprise...
He held his hand out again.
"Let me help you out of the fountain. That picket line, out there, needs to stay strong. Nobody in and nobody out. Can you do that?" He searched her face anxiously, "We can't win if we're divided. Stand with us. Please."

Esteban sighed, she was right. Gina was so right, Esteban was so confused, he didn't know what to do or think or say. He had turned on Gina, and he had lost her trust. He deserved whatever he got from now on. His parents may even be disappointed in him.
He looked at Gina, as a man, with tears half in his eyes. "I'm sorry Gina, forgive me." He added, it was so strange to be having this conversation in the middle of a riot, well almost a riot. He hoped that Gina had heard him though, and that she would forgive him. He took a step away from the Department head that he had followed down here. Maybe he could plead that he was put under the imperious cruse. He hoped that Gina could find it in her heart...
Due to standing right near Gina, Gavin heard almost everything that was said, but kept his face neutral. YES! he thought to himself silently, They had the law enforcement on their team now as well! His eyes flickering around to the rest of the people in the room, he wondered how that was going to change their attitudes. Would they follow their department head, or continue to fight them?
His eyes went to Gina, what was her decision going to be?
Evander was here. Oh thank Merlin's scraggly, tangled, flee-ridden beard. Things were starting to look up.
...But the man looked dead serious. Given the situation, Sabel figured that was appropriate. He had to hand it to the Aurors, to their composure and calmness amidst a potentially volatile situation. And Evander seemed to know just how to calm things down to a negotiable level.
It was a lot of lowered voices and private words, but he supposed the best negotiations were private conversations where judgement and expectations were put on hold. It was much harder to be hostile towards someone willing to talk, than someone that insisted on yelling and shouting.
Slowly, Sabel made his way to stand by Damien and Gabriel; not so much as to get in their way, but simply to be there, ready to receive any orders that may be forwarded.

Emily stood there... frowning, her wand slipping back into its holster.
Stupid, idiotic people.. and by that she didn't only mean Recard, though he was not an exception to the thought.
She had been relatively calm, and quiet throughout this whole procession, quite frankly she knew that there was nothing SHE could do, or should do, and this was only confirmed by Van's arrival.
But now what? How do you stop the crazies?
Side stepping a few of the loonies, Emily made her way over to the rest of the MLE group thinking it was best to stick together... so that way if they got the all clear to start hexing (which she was not opposed to at this point) then she could be one of the first to act. But that wasn't going to happen. She knew that...

"Let me help you out of the fountain. That picket line, out there, needs to stay strong. Nobody in and nobody out. Can you do that?" He searched her face anxiously, "We can't win if we're divided. Stand with us. Please."
"You will take over if I step down?" She said feeling tired "Will you make sure he no longer reigns over us?"

She looked at the man and sighed. She hated hurting him.

His eyes went to Gina, what was her decision going to be?
"Gavin? Will you and the others follow Evander? Please?" She asked. "Just make sure no one gets hurt... I... I think I need to go... go home."

Esteban looked at Gina. Go home? Was she giving up? He never expected her to give up, under any circumstances. "Gina?" He questions her? He didn't know what to think no, his own thougths and feelings were really confused and then for Gina to change her mind.
Esteban felt like his head was spinning. "Is everything okay?" He asked, he actually held his hand out for her, to help her out of the water.
"You will take over if I step down?" She said feeling tired "Will you make sure he no longer reigns over us?"

Wait...Step down? she couldn't, wouldn't! His eyes searched her face as he turned to face her completely. She meant just step down from here, and let Evander take over with the protest, right?
When she turned to him, he nodded "Of course ma'am." he responded glancing over at the man, named Evander. He just hoped, that the man was serious in what he had said. "I will." He meant that and more then just following, by making sure no one was hurt AND that Gina's wishes were followed on this.
"Do you need assistance getting home?" he asked quietly. She didn't look well, and he was afraid for her safety as much as her health.

Well. This was going perfectly well. Isobel was sure that there was even more protesters here now. Wonderful day in the ministry. At least there were some more MLErs around now. So at least they would be able to hopefully control the protesters if anything did happen. Although Maybe Van should be down here....seeing as he was the head of department after all. She glanced around, before sending her patronus of up to Level 2, with the one intent of finding Evander.
But....oh. Great. Wonderful. Isobel's day had just gotten so much better. It was Armen Recard. Oh dearie me. Isobel watched him, as he talked...or rather attempted to order Gabe, and Damien around. Oh dear. Wait! He seriously was ordering them to arrest these people? Oh dear. "Why don't you leave the arresting to the department that is trained to do that, and go and check some portkeys Recard?"
Armen had been fuming since he arrived and the mouthing off of his ex-girlfriend was not what he needed at the moment. He turned to glare at her and her idiotic comment about his department. "Well I wouldn't be forced to come down here if you 'Aurors' could at least control Ministry workers, and not spoil the troublemakers!" he said waving his arm at Gina and the strikers frantically.

"You think I didn't do my job?" and that knife began to twist. "I never thought I'd say this Armen, but I would prefer you never spoke to me again."
"Oh, I understand." She said bitterly. "You're a father now. You need the money from work to support your family. But believe me Estaban, when your child grows up thinking he should be honored to clean someone's toenail clippings, THEN you will understand."
"Thank you Evander, for making them see reason." She was getting tired and her poor bones were hurting. "You have a moment of my time." She said staying where she was. "Go on."

"THIS. IS. NOT. RIGHT!" Armen shouted through frantic breaths. It looked as if Recard's head was ready to explode. There was no way Van was going to just smooth this whole situation over, they were criminals and were going against the Minstery and the Minister himself. They were the traitors!
"Evander! You've gone too far!" he shouted, not really caring if he interupted his conversation with Gina. He thought he would at least take on some sort of pride in his roots with the Cult, the who 'his fiance was part of them' and all, instead of being a poser. He couldn't hear what they were talking about but it obviously was bad news. "This is all wrong!" he said running a hand through his haird madly and then stomping his foot angrily, almost childlike.
"Oh yeah?" Lights turned a light shade of rose pink. "You won't fight me because I'm a woman? Let me tell you I can beat you any day when I'm not wearing new boots!" Sapphira was so late. She was finishing up with that last woman who took so long just to recite her name and her wand details, and by then all hell have brokeN loose. MLE people were all over the place, either holding back people or just joining in. She better be in the holding back group.
She strode down to Lights--just in time to see her kiss. Awkward. With an inner flinch, she shrugged and went further. When they're done, she came back and whispered.
"So, what are we supposed to do now?"
[...]
Gabriel kept his face calm, even if on the inside he wanted to lurch forward and strangle the man stood in front of him. Looking down at the finger that was nearly poking him, Gabe glanced back up and locked eyes with idiot addressing him. "Free speech," he stated simply, leaning his face in. "Expressing opinions does not a traitor make. And I don't need YOU to remind me of anything, Recard." Gabriel made sure his voice was slow and quite quiet. This wasn't a conversation for everyone to overhear.
Putting his wand back in his holster, Gabriel folded his arms across his chest and appraised the puffed up little upstart. He really did think himself so important. "You can suggest all you like, but nothing is being done until Evander has spoken with Gina."
Who he had just spotted arriving out the corner of his eye.

Through all this he ignored Recard entirely.
Turning his head away from Recard and over towards Van, Gabe nodded and patted his holster to signal his already was away. Looking around at his own security staff he motioned for them to do as requested.
He couldn't hear what was being said between his boss and the lady in the fountain, but she seemed to be agreeing with whatever he wanted. A slight smirk crossed his features when Armen started having a childish paddy - that was replaced by a look of concern when the older woman said about going home. Gabe had told her the cold water wouldn't do her any good. Deciding it was best to stay where he was, in case he was needed to deal with Recard, he watched Van and ....Gavin, was it? help Gina.
Lights sighed. "Ethan, I'm doing my job. I'm fine. Things seem to be calming down here anyway. I think I have more reason to worry here." Ethan sighed. "But hun, if it escalates again, that means that you could get hurt as well. I don't want that. I especially don't want that if I'm not here to avenge it, whatever it be. Even if you only get a bruise or a scratch. I know you're a feisty one, for lack of a better word," he smiled and winked at Lights, "But I don't want you alone. I think it'd be better for the kids, should anything happen, to know that we were together. I'm here because you're doing your job, and I don't want that to turn into me having to do mine." Because Ethan was a maintenance wizard: he cleaned up the messes. And his wife was one of those things that Ethan did not want becoming a mess all over the room. And as far as he knew, it only took one wave of a wand to do that.

Ha. Really? Isobel rolled her eyes, vaguely aware that Evander had come down. No wands? Well she could see the benefit of that. Isobel shoved her wand back into her holster whilst still watching Armen. Aurors were supposed to control ministry workers now? She wasn't a security guard. "Well maybe they wouldn't need controlling if the minister was any good." Because she knew Armen knew she didn't like Borr. Smiling at Armen, she turned slightly, so that she was now watching Evander, and Gina, instead of just annoying Armen...

Hawk Ebony breathed in relief. It truly seemed to have calmed down, at least for the moment. Of course he was too far to have heard what his boss had said to Gina, but it seemed to have had the desired affect.
