Daniiiii João decided to skip lunch today and 'discover' the ministry building. Sure he knew which department was where, but he had never had the time to pay attention to details. Today, he had packed an apple from home--don't judge him if he looked like a girl on a diet--and was eating that as he slowly circled the fountain and eyed it critically. It wasn't one of those fountains that demanded money, right? |

What drew his attention from the fountain itself was his employee...circling it.... "Hoping to discover gold etched into the cracks?" He asked by way of greeting as he approached. It was a good idea to be on decent terms with the people who worked for you, even if you didn't turn out friends. This was a good move toward being more social too, provided it didn't blow up in his face. Gavin stopped short of the pacing man and stuck his hands casually into his pockets. "No lunch?" |
Quote:
"One never knows," he said and lowered the apple with the intention of eating it later as it would be rude now. "I decided to skip it to examine the Ministry more carefully. Have you had your lunch, sir?" |

Looking into the fountain itself he shook his head. "Didn't know this thing doubled as a wishing well. What a waste." The waste he was referring to was the galleons, sickles and kuts at the bottom. Wishes were for the lazy, those unwilling to work for what they wanted. "I see....found anything interesting?" How far had he gone discovering? Gavin shook his head at the question. "Not yet. I was on my way to the Food Court to see if they had anything good. Saw you watching the statue." And a casual shrug. He wasn't in any rush to grab lunch. At the moment he was only peckish. |

The Brazilian shook his head. "I had just begun with this statue." And that translated into 'I don't think it is interesting enough.' THAT, though, that was interesting. "How is the food there?" |
Quote:
And it didn't seem he'd gotten very far. Just the statue. "At the risk of receiving a formal complaint I'd suggest you take a walk around Level 9. You won't get very far but it's intriguing nonetheless." His old level. If he ever found the time he would stop by, check the Everlocked Room. Hmm? The food? "I wouldn't know. I always come up with another reason to avoid eating there." Which he completely blamed Emily for. Just had to go remind him of all the buffet food touching. "I've spoken with someone's who's tried it. He insists it's decent." So...couldn't be that bad. |

He shared the sigh and glance at the fountain. He had completely different ideas about these 'wishes' and he let it show on his face, but he merely said "I guess so." Wishing was stupid, unless they took an action to realise the wish themselves. He was curious about the suggestion of Mr. Isaacs, and nodded in the end. "Department of Mysteries, right? I'll make sure to take a more thorough look there." Mysteries did peak his curiosity. He wanted to see it now. Maybe Aspen would accompany him. Or maybe he should go there alone. Avoid? Any particular reason? João wanted to ask, but pressing him more would be rude of him. Instead, he nodded politely. 'Decent' wasn't 'good' or 'marvellous', so he was sure he wouldn't be impressed with the food at all. "I should check it myself too," he muttered to himself, then looked at Mr. Isaacs again. "How long have you been working here, sir?" he asked, hoping he wasn't wasting his time. |
Quote:
"That's the one." He confirmed. For someone who wasn't completely acquainted with the Ministry Mr. Neves seemed like he'd picked up a thing or two. "It's a labrynth of hallways and charms though if you don't know what you're doing. I'd suggest befriending one and seeing if they'll give you a general look around." As unlikely as that was. There was a reason those on that level were referred to as Unspeakables. "That's not to say you should be bothering anyone on the job." He nodded. Yes, it was best he check it out for himself. As for how long he'd worked there, Gavin took a pause. How long had he been here? It wasn't all that long he knew that much. "I think this will be my fourth year if I'm remembering correctly." Couldn't have been any longer than that, not yet anyway. "Why do you ask?" Checking up on his qualifications? Hmmmm? |
Quote:
Food court. Blegh. "I was wondering if you could advise me what to do here," he said swiftly. He was more interested in how long it would take HIM to rise the steps of power, and he wouldn't hide that. Wasn't everyone interested in that anyway? |
Quote:
He raised a curious eyebrow at the young man. He understood the question...to an extent but had to be sure it was actually what was being asked. "In terms of?" He couldn't exactly give advice until he knew what he was advising about. Funny thing advice was, but there you had it. |
Quote:
Hehe. "Well... in general. How to be a good employee and work efficiently." And pleasing the Minister and him. Those kind of things. |
Quote:
"The most I think I can say is, be ready." He paused, running that over in his head again just to be sure it made as much sense as it did in his head. "If there's something that needs to be done, be ready to be the one to do it, regardless of whether or not an incentive is offered. Big Heads and Supervisors tend to notice things like that." Gavin did and depending on how it was gone about, he could appreciate it. "Just......no excessive behaviour. That freaks people out--freaks me. Probably freaks the Minister out too." The eagerness to work, it wasn't bad but when it was an excessive eagerness, well then...it posed a problem. |
Text Cut: Gavin João waited patiently. Mr. Isaacs had already explained what he expected from his employees, sort of, but The Brazilian needed a more thorough answer. He already knew those stuff that was mentioned in the first meeting. His patience was rewarded well though. Taking a second to let it sink in, he nodded in the end. "Thank you, sir." He appreciated such advices. He didn't 'just' ask for it. Well, how many minutes had it been? "I shouldn't keep you from heading to lunch, sir," he said politely. He wouldn't mind talking more, but he bet the man had more important things to do. |
Quote:
And at the mention of lunch he was reminded that he was headed to the Food Court before the fountain and Mr. Neves had caught his attention. "Right, yes, have a good rest of the day Mr. Neves, do let me know what you think of the food court if you actually decide to give it a try." He gave the young man a firm nod then continued on his way. Time was a limited asset. |
