Entering the hall, Gidyun looked around him, feeling completely out of place but keeping his head high and hoping for the best for the evening. His first real job here in the British ministry. How was he to know who anyone was, he didn't think he'd recognize anyone. It'd been years since he'd been in London, and never actually lived here either. He'd considered not making an appearance but didn't think that'd be a good idea so here he was.

Taking a deep breath, Roxanne stepped into the hall for the first time as a department head. Sure, she had been one for quite a few months now, but she had been made one after the last orientation. So yeah, it was her first one since becoming a department head. And to be honest, she really didn't want to be here. But her job required it, so here she was. Well, as long as she didn't have to see certain people, she should be okay. Plus, she still hadn't quite gotten the chance to congratulate Aron on his promotion. Not to mention her curiosity about the International Cooperation head and the new Minister of Magic. Maybe some interesting things could happen at this little shindig after all.

Like that. Who was that? Was he the new IC Department Head or just a regular, run of the mill new employee? And why was she just standing here, wondering, when she could and should be asking?
Approaching the stranger, Roxanne stuck her hand out. "Hello, my name's Roxanne Carter. I'm the Head of the Environmental Department here." And suddenly glad that she'd left Ronan with the sitter. Imagine how hard it would be to walk around introducing herself with a baby on her arm. "Are you the new International Coop. Head?" Because, you know, he had that air of authority about him.

Rusty HAD made some effort and dressed for the event and then... then his daughter had vomited on him. Twice. So essentially he'd said screw it and gone a little more casual. But that was fine, at least to him, since he was far more comfortable dressed down, and hell he had a collar at least, and most of his buttons were done up. He'd reluctantly left Lolly with his sister-in-law and now he was juuust arriving to this orientation thing.
Because yeah, he was awesome and had got the job he'd aimed for obviously. Rustin went inside and dropped his coat at the coat check before going to check out the swag bags. Maybe something good in there, maybe something Lola would like? He went over and grabbed one and opened it, rummaging through and eyeing the stuff on the tables. He eyed the pin things with one brow up. Kinda... shoddy. Well, he'd skip those. He scooped up at least one of everything else though, figuring Lola would like looking through and all that.
Hmmm he didn't want to hang onto it the whole time though. Rusty got his wand out and shrunk the bag down small enough to slip into his pocket. Then he reholstered his wand and went on his way.

Pressing a hand to her hair to check that her ponytail was still in place, Elinor heaved a quiet sigh as she stepped into the Entrance Hall. She had been to one too many of these Orientations, but still put on a smile. It wasn't as though she didn't care to meet new people. After all her time at the Ministry, however, there were other things she looked forward to ahead of Orientations.
Pressed for a choise between formal and casual, Elinor had settled on a black-and-white ensemble. Well. Mostly black, apart from the white blouse that showed underneath the half-buttoned black blazer. She instinctively rubbed her hand over the lap of her black pants to smooth out any nonexistant wrinkles, and checked her boots for scuff marks with a glance at her feet. First impressions, although often wrong, were nevertheless important.
She paused and considered taking one of the grab-bags, but decided against it for the moment, preferring to keep her hands free.

Didn't she miss he work, why sure she did. Though Victoria did enjoy the holidays especially that she had spent them mostly with Konrad. And her family but being with Konrad was the unique thing. And though her desk and Konrad's were next to each other it wasn't the same because at work it was different. But still good. Dressing up for the orientation, Victoria wondered if Konrad was going to make it. Was she talking about him a lot, naaaah.
Pong...pong....pong..
Her heels clattering against the floor, the blond entered the hall with a smile on her face clutching her purse. She always dressed up for Orientations, because those were when you met new people so first impressions matter a lot. Looking around her as she got to the center of the hall, she took a look around taking the people's faces around her. They all received smiles.
Spotting the table a couple of feet away, the secretary walked over to it and examined what was on it. She had lots of those stuffs having attended many orientations but she still grabbed a pin that had Minister's Office on it and fastened it to her jacket. All good.

Another orientation! Fun!
Yes, Cora actually sort of enjoyed these things. She liked to meet new people - especially if they were new Accidents and Catastrophes employees. Not that she had anything against those who worked in the other departments, but A&C ones were the people she'd see most, you know? So she liked to meet them and see if she would enjoy having to see them every day. Most of them were pretty great, fortunately, but sometimes there were those she didn't like as much. It just happened. But HOPEFULLY that wouldn't yet.
The other things she liked about these events was the chance to dress up. Not really dress up dress up, but still, more than she would on a normal work day. She actually really enjoyed dressing up, and sometimes she wished she had a reason to more. But every now and then was fine too, so she wasn't complaining.
Beaming widely at everyone as she entered, she looked over at the table with bags and goodies. Hmm. Did she want one? Maybe she would grab one later. She didn't really feel like carrying it around right now.

Simon had to admit he was anxious to get back to work doing what he loved to do. The break for the holidays had been good and he had enjoyed the time with his family but it had been starting to drag the last couple of days. At least for him. He figured he'd just have to settle on the orientation the ministry higher-ups had planned for now even if he felt like an old hat at these things each year. It was better than nothing after all. Hopefully this one would have a lot less excitement then the year before...no dealing with zombie workers to keep everyone one their toes.
Stepping into the entrance hall, the YATI...no...the auror looked around to take in what was around. Simon was dressed simply, in one of the usual suits because it was a work event after all. It seemed few people had arrived and the only familiar face was one Roxanne Carter. Though she was talking with someone else so he stuck to himself for now. Plenty of time to meet new people as the day wore on.

Aron made his way finally to the Ministry shindig feeling more stressed than he should be. He almost wished that could blame it on work related matters and stepping into his new role as Department Head, but that was so far from the truth. Work was actually a nice break. Seren was SO pregnant. SO pregnant. The mood swings, craving, sore feet, sore back, everything was stressing him out. Of course, he tried not to show this to his wife. Always a smile and keeping a stress free and pleasant atmosphere at home. Still didn't prevent there being some wear on his face. It would all be worth it, so he was told.
Rolling the sleeves of his sweater and shirt up to his elbows, Aron adjusted his badge and began to do this whole rubbing elbows bit.
"Roxanne, nice to see you again," he winked towards the woman who was already in conversation with someone else. New Department Head? That was what Roxanne has said anyway. "Hello, Aron Ashburry-Hawthorne, Magical Accidents and Catastrophes Department Head," he said to the man as he extended a hand for a hand shake.
Long name. Long department name. His introduction just turned into more of a tongue twister.
Moving through the small crowded, he spotted a familiar face from their application and approached the man. "Mr. Killick, Aron Ashburry-Hawthorne. Pleasure to meet you in person."
Oh, and look there. There was Miss Don't-Touch-Anything. She got a small head inclination.

When Elinor met eyes briefly with Mr. Aaron-Ashbury Hawthorne Doughnut-Eater Touch-Everything, as she would always remember him by in her mind, the woman seemed to start before remembering to smile at him. She hesitated for a brief moment before crossing over to him.
"Mr. Hawthorne," she greeted him with a small nod of her head, keeping that smile there as best she could. She wasn't going to take up a lot fo his time. "I wanted to congratulate you on your new position."Aaaand... Elinor took in a breath, hesitant to finish what she had to say, but she had been thinking over it for a long time, and if she didn't say it now, she would only regret it later.
"I also wanted to--" She started, before rephrasing. "I never properly thanked you for all of the hard work you did during the..." -as a woman of science, she was loath to say 'zombie'- "The sickness, the, uh-- outbreak. I was very impressed," she nodded her head. "I know I always gave you a hard time," she admitted with a glance at the ground between them. As a grown woman, this was not something Elinor often felt the need to do. She looked back up at him, refreshing her smile.
"But it was a fine pleasure... having you around."

Ah, there he was! Looking a bit tired, but after having met his wife at the school fundraiser, she had a pretty good idea why. "Hey, Aron! Nice seeing you again too. And congrats on the promotion and the baby!" It wasn't really a surprise to Roxanne that he'd gotten promoted, though. But she did find it amusing that a good chunk of the most recent promotes have been from the MLE. Just a indication as to how well Wes doing with them. But still amusing.
Speaking of MLE, Elinor and Simon both got nods as she saw them. And was that an apology? For what? Eyebrows were raised.

Another orientation. Uh, she had been to two and they turned out....ahem..good. Julia walked past the little crowd of people trying to mingle. Oh guys, you wouldn't know what you'll get. Halfway she spotted a few people she knew.
"Hello Mr.Dept Head" she called to her fellow ex-coworker. Huh. Why do they always go away...and become dept. heads? "Roxanne, how are you?" she asked the woman. She gave her a smile. Last time they'd seen, it wasn't a good situation.
There was this other woman....she recognized. Hm? OH. "Oh hello..." she trailed. "Have I seen you...." They'd worked together for a brief time in the Lab on her first day in MLE. Yes, she remembered. And there was that other guy, rude one. HUH. "I'm Julia Smith, IUMO" Cause she didn't think she introduced herself last time, not that the woman would remember it. It was ages ago. Smile on.

Gabriela Schultz wrinkled her nose at the freebie gifts at the entrance to the orientation. That was the last thing she needed in her office - useless notepads and pencils that were just going to take up space. So she passed it up and instead headed to the gathering of people just beyond the table. She overheard a few people speaking to a man nearby, and she overheard the word "Department Head"...ahhh yes, she'd heard there were near hires, specifically in her old department. Well she HAD to go introduce herself, yes?

Click clack, click clack, Gabi's heels made a loud clicking noise as she walked up to the new Department Head. "Hello, you must be one of the new DH's around here," she said with a smirk as she held out her perfectly polished hand. "Gabriela Schultz, Department Head on Level Six, Magical Transportation," she informed him.
Because EVERYONE had to know who Gabi Schultz was. Duh.

Emily made her appearance, despite wanting to be anywhere but at the orientation. If she was going to be here, then she may as well get something out of it. The holidays had been... decent, but she was glad to be back.
With a brief nod and SMALL smile of acknowledgement to Aron and Roxanne, Emily grabbed herself one of the bag things and peered into it. Probably nothing of value to her, but she could always pawn it off onto someone else. Shrinking it and stuffing it into her pocket, Emily walked off. This was boring her already.

Orientation.
It wasn't really Aubrie's favorite thing. After all many people seemed to get dressed up and such and that wasn't really Aubrie's favorite thing, but she did decide to put on a dress rather than wear her normal more informal jeans and leather jacket that she wore at work most days. After all being a Hit Witch was more hands on and such. And that probably explained why her small clutch contained her extra wand. And her regular wand was slipped up her one long sleeve. It never hurts to be prepared.
Looking around for someone to converse with she saw Roxanne Carter and walked over to where she was at. "Roxanne," she said with a smile to the woman she had worked with multiple times when Roxanne was in MLE before she became a department head. "It's so nice to see you again. I haven't seen you since you left MLE." Aubrie had been busy and she was sure that Roxanne was busy as well. "How is being a department head treating you?" Aubrie was sure that Roxanne was doing well after all she had done great in MLE before she got the big promotion.
It was a really important question. Should she stroll in with her head held high and just introduce herself to the room? Or just shuffle awkwardly around the edges of the hall till someone came to her? Both sounded....unappetizing. So instead Persephone just sort of... walked in. Kinda like a walk that you'd use if you knew where you were going but you weren't in any particular hurry.
Her eyes went to the swag bag things. Free stuff was always good. Always. Especially for broke girls pathetically living with their younger sister. They really liked free stuff. Badges! Conversation starters. D'aaaw. How cute of you, Ministry of Magic people. She pinned the Accident and Catastrophes badge to her jacket so it wouldn't ruin her lovely dress.
Stationary.
Everyone loved stationary. But nooow what? What was she supposed to do? Just interrupt conversations and introduce herself. She wasn't rudemost of the time. So Sephy just casually leaned against the wall and routed through her #swag bag just to look like she wasn't just awkwardly standing by the wall. Which she was of course.

Oh look. Miss No-Touchy was coming over to speak to him. Not that Aron really minded. She was one of the more dedicated employees in his former department - not to mention one of the few that didn't throw herself at men. Aron respected her, even if she was a tad OCD about no touchy.
Oh wow. This was...not entirely what he had been expecting. "Oh, thank you. But really, the cure was found thanks to you and Derek." They had been the ones to really find the niche they had needed to create the cure. Aron, while also involved in lab work, had done more of the sample collecting and administering of the cure. "We did make a pretty good team though. It was a pleasure. I hope that we have the opportunity to work together again in the future."
Very possible, since his new department tended to clean up messes where the MLE was also involved.

"Thanks, Roxanne. You settling in in Environmental?" Was the woman any good at Herbology? Or had it been her that had mentioned having a garden at her place back when he had first joined? He couldn't recall at the moment. "Seren looks like she is going to pop any day now, but still has a bit to go." He couldn't wait to meet his son or daughter. Seren and him had decided to not find out the gender until the baby was born. He was secretly hoping for a son though.
And for the record, Roxanne, it had been Van who had hired Aron initially and then Wes had stepped in and continued to help mold him. Combined recognition was necessary. Both brilliant men.

It was the clicking heels that caught his attention first, and he turned his head to see another woman approaching him. Holy holly could he go no where without being swarmed by the ladies? Aha! Here was another face that he recognized. Doing all that criminal profiling and research had left Aron with a very good memory when it came to faces. "Miss Walters," he said as he stepped towards the woman. "Welcome to the Ministry." And more importantly the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, but that went without saying.

Isobel was running a little bit late to the orientation. Her twins, who had just recently turned two and were generally rather naughty had decided that they really did not want to go to daycare today. Even though she had a busy day, Izzy had ended up staying there for at least an hour to get them to settle down. It was like the boys knew that she had somewhere to be. Anyway. Isobel had eventually settled the boys down, meaning that she could finally get her way towards the orientation. She really hoped that this was not going to be a daily occurrence. If so she really would not be bringing the boys into the ministry day care. It was just too much trouble.
Flicking her blonde hair over her shoulder, she had decided to wear her hair down towards, she wandered towards the entrance to the hall. She had no idea if Wes was here yet, but she assumed so. She hadn't seen him since she had left home this morning.

Is it that time of the year again? New employees were hired and well they're given this orientation to get to know the important people and get acquainted with other employees. He woke up just a tad bit early and didn't realize that he arrived at the ministry on time. He is on time, right?
Stephen walked inside and found a table of goodies. Free stuff. He smiled as he took one of the bags. Taking a peak inside, his smile grew wider as he saw stationary and pens/pencils and of course the lovely Transportation pin. He took the bag as his eyes scouted for people he knows.................
........................ and he did. Stephen spotted their gorgeous department head acquainting with that guy in the Accident and Catastrophes, right??? Stephen wasn't sure though. He did give her a small smile.
Bradley entered the hall, the biggest smile on his face. He was still in total awe that he had even been hired by the Ministry. Let alone in basically his dream job. He loved kids and he loved helping people and he couldn't wait to start his new position as the Nursery Healer.
He looked around at all of the people. He honestly had no idea if he was overdressed or not. He figured the converse would balance things out. Brad felt it was safer to be overdressed than underdressed. He approached the table and grabbed a bag of goodies. Now where to go...

Genevieve Branxton huffed impatiently as someone stopped RIGHT THERE in the doorway. Wanted to make an entrance, did he? She was tempted to shove. She was tempted to shout, actually. But no, no this particular YATI was well-behaved and full of impulse control.
Instead, she politely inched past his elbow and smiled winningly. "They won't bring the party all the way over here to you. You have to enter the room fully first." She paused, completely aware that she was being a bit brusque even still. "I like your vest. Most men are afraid of coming off as cheesy if they try for a vest, but I think you've managed the look quite well."

Another former MLE-turned-department head made an appearance as Simon scanned the room, the auror acknowledging Aron's presence with a polite nod. He was aware of a few bits of news on the man and his familiar wife and he couldn't help wondering what how Professor Bentley was. However seeing as the plant expert seemed to be flooded with people to talk to, Simon figured he could always see about checking in later on in the orientation.
SPOILER!!: Emily

With a brief nod and SMALL smile of acknowledgement to Aron and Roxanne, Emily grabbed herself one of the bag things and peered into it. Probably nothing of value to her, but she could always pawn it off onto someone else. Shrinking it and stuffing it into her pocket, Emily walked off. This was boring her already.
There was boss-lady stepping inside the entrance hall and being her usual quiet self. If he took the moment to think, they were often quiet similar prefering to be the observer rather then mingling much. Simon sent another nod of acknowledgement her way before the head auror scooted out of the vicinity. It wasn't like he wouldn't see her tomorrow bright and early anyway.
SPOILER!!: Izzy

Isobel had eventually settled the boys down, meaning that she could finally get her way towards the orientation. She really hoped that this was not going to be a daily occurrence. If so she really would not be bringing the boys into the ministry day care. It was just too much trouble.
Flicking her blonde hair over her shoulder, she had decided to wear her hair down towards, she wandered towards the entrance to the hall. She had no idea if Wes was here yet, but she assumed so. She hadn't seen him since she had left home this morning.
Speaking of boss-ladies.
Simon spotted a certain former head auror-turned-department-head and boss' wife and decided to make his way over to say hello. He hadn't seen the woman in a while and one of their last encounters had been when she hadn't been herself. "Hello Mrs Ferguson..." he greeted with a polite nod, using the formal name half in mild jest and half out of respect. She was his first ministry boss after all.

Instead, she politely inched past his elbow and smiled winningly. "They won't bring the party all the way over here to you. You have to enter the room fully first." She paused, completely aware that she was being a bit brusque even still. "I like your vest. Was there food here?
Turning Izzy's way made the doorway visible to the auror once more. A doorway which held another familiar face...one of the returning YATI aka Genevieve. Why was it that most of the people he knew that had showed up so far were of the female persuasion, Simon couldn't help but wonder. Pushing the thought aside, he simply offered her a friendly smile as he stood with the mysteries head.

"Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. A department you know quite well if I am not mistaken."
See? He had done his homework.
Gabi grinned. Ah, so he HAD heard of her, which was good, it showed that she'd definitely left her mark on the level. Or the man was just really into reading old records and recognized her name as former Charms Developer. Either way, it was nice to know that her time on Level Three was remembered by someone at least.
She chuckled at the kiss on the back of her hand. Here's hoping Armen wouldn't see that! Even though it was just a polite gesture. "Well, very pleased to make your acquaintance. I hope everything goes well for you and there aren't many, well, catastrophes to deal with there," she said with a wink. At one point the level had been notorious for STARTING catastrophes rather than solving them, but thankfully that had passed before she got there.

As she spoke with the new department head, she noticed one of her own employees entering nearby. FINALLY someone from her department to make them look better! It was so dreadfully embarassing being the ONLY employee on her level here. But now Stephen was here! Lovely.
"Hello Stephen!" she called with a smile, waving at her employee. "Excited to meet the fresh new faces on our level?" she asked him. She'd been slaving over those applications all day but she was sure she had assembled a good team of newbies this go around. She couldn't wait to meet the promising new folk!

This... was a well appointed room. Albert had always thought so, and today, when it was full of people and tables and food and still was not dwarfed, he thought so again. It was a good spot for such a function, and he'd have to shake hands with the man or woman who had planned this event.
There was plenty of food too, which was one of those nice touches that was so often overlooked. Really, an event could be perfect but the food was inadequate, and it would forever be remembered as 'that time the Ministry served bad food'.
Merlin, what was he supposed to be doing? Ah, right, looking for Alexander. And maybe having a glass of punch. He was parched, and one did not go looking for the Minister for Magic with a dry mouth.
