Employee Meet and Greet
Off to one side of the orientation, an area has been set up for employees to meet and get to know each other. The purpose of this area is for both current and new employees to get acquainted before they begin working together. Not only can employees get to know their fellow workers on the level of the Ministry they work on, but they can also talk to employees from any other level. The department heads from each level are also present within this area for the employees to get to know. The area is split into two halves. The first half, an indoor area, is a simple area for the employees to mingle in. It is situated next to a set of French doors that lead out onto a small balcony area. Around the balcony, there are various forms of greenery. Potted flowers and trees add a creative and environmental factor to the area. Pretty vines trail up the rails that surround the balcony. So head over to this area and mingle with employees new and old. Break the ice and make some new friends. |
Looking sharp as ever in his suit, Charles Taylor strode into the room oozing self confidence. Yes, he knew who he was, and pretty soon, everyone else would too. His brown eyes swept the room and focused on the balcony area. He rolled his eyes at the whole set up and just looked around, judging people within seconds of seeing them. They'd get a second chance when he spoke to them, of course, but if they didn't impress within the first thirty seconds, it wasn't good for them. He re-adjusted the IMC badge on his jacket that he'd worn just to be a good sport and eyed a nearby plant. |

Making sure that she had a name tag on properly, she approached a gentleman and a pleasant looking woman, who looked familiar, and smiled at both of them. "Hi I hope that you don't mind me interrupting. My name's Melissa." as she stuck out her hand to shake both of theirs. |

SPOILER!!: Julia, Gavin, Elizabeth & Melissa Chirpy, yet he could sense she didn't really want to be here. Charles offered the woman a polite smile. "Hello, how're you today?" Politeness went a long way, no? His attention was caught by a weedy looking man who had smiled at him. Though he did a double take at the man's name. Was it his old age, or was the man's last name Pigreader? He merely stared at the man for a moment, processing that this man was his boss. A weedy pigreader for a boss. Oh, the joys! "Good morning. I'm Charles Taylor, American Ambassador. I believe you're my boss." He eyed the Yet another woman came up to him! My, my, he was popular today. "Hello Melissa, I'm Charles Taylor. How are you today?" Yes, politeness, he could do it. He shook her offered hand, returning her smile, even if it was somewhat forced. He watched the women interact with disinterest and looked back over at the plant, wondering if Pigreader and the plant were related. |
Text Cut: Elizabeth and Charlie "I believe so." he said with a grin and nod. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Looking up as Elizabeth came over. "Elizabeth! Wonderful to have you back! How have you been?" It was definitely good to finally have a full team of ambassadors again. And here the two new ones were infront of him. That worked out very well! That way they could meet each other as well. Now for Sophie and Kat, and he was sure since Elizabeth was around Jack would be soon too. Kat he hoped would be here soon, he'd left long before she normally would have. "Feel free to call me Gavin." he said to Charles, just so it was known from the start. "No need to be too formal on our level, we work more as a team rather then formalities." |
SPOILER!!: Gavin and Charles Elizabeth grimaced at being called Ms. "You may just call me Elizabeth, I hate 'Ms. Lupiun' especially since we are coworkers." She laughed, "I am the African Ambassador." She hadnt techinally eavesdropped since she just happened to overhear that part of the conversation with Gavin. "Though I didnt catch your name just your job..." She chuckled a little, and wondered if he would tell her his name. Elizabeth smiled at Gavin. "It is great to be back, Gavin... Um I have been good... I guess. How are you and Kat? I am so happy to be back. I hated my year off." She laughed, "I am also happy that I get stuck with a great boss." She twisted her ring, "I dont know when Jack will be here since I dropped off our two young ones and came straight here." She smiled at him. |

Even though Ella had been working in the Ministry for several months now, she almost felt like she was a new employee since she hadn't been there for the last employee placement. It was kind of exciting! She was looking forward to seeing her new employees and getting to know them better, as well as other new employees in other departments. After being there early to help with set-up, Ella made her way over to the meet and greet area. She noticed Gavin there and a few other employees, some she didn't recognize, too. Ella nodded at them and smiled politely before straightening out her blazer and making her way over to the balcony area. It was kind of chilly, but she liked the fresh air. |
Text Cut: Quotes - you know who you are! Oh, he MAY call her Elizabeth? "As you wish." He nodded to her before the corner of his lip twitched up into a sort of smile. "Nice to meet you." African Ambassador, surely that meant she was intelligent. Hmm, maybe he did like her. "I'm Charles Taylor." He offered his name to her politely once more. "And you too." Yeah, he wasn't going to call him Mr. Pigreader, nor Gavin. So he'd just avoid names for now. He eyed the interaction between both of the people and remained dispassionate. The over familiarity showed that they had worked together before. Oh, he had to call the man Gavin? He didn't like it, but he supposed he had to bend to the man's wishes. "I understand, Gavin." Don't approve though. He turned to other woman who hadn't addressed him before. "I am." He confirmed her question, but then raised his eyebrows. "You live in America, but work here?" One question was on his mind; Why? The fact that she was American had one mark down against her. He loved the American way, he just didn't like the Americans themselves. "This is my first day in this position, but if we're talking previous experience, too many years than I'd wish to reveal. And what about you? What's your name and job?" Yeah, he hadn't been paying attention, he'd been wondering about weedy boy. |
Elizabeth, Ella, Melissa and Charles - be back in a few hours ;-) Text Cut: Elizabeth, Ella, Melissa and Charles A small smile played at his lips as Elizabeth corrected Charles. Looking around them as the room started filling with more people he noticed Ella walk in and flashed a smile her way and waved. Looking back in Elizabeth's direction, hmm problems? He wondered but didn't say anything "It'll be good to have you back." he said with a smile. "We've been good. She should be here soon I believe. She was dropping her brother and sister off before coming." Turning to Charles "My wife Kat, is also an ambassador, she's ambassador for the magical countries." Smiling as Charles said he understood, Gavin nodded in return. His attention was drawn to words another woman had spoken. She lived in America? Odd, a bit of a commute he'd say. Or maybe she'd just moved from there? |
SPOILER!!: Distracted Charles Melissa tried to remember whether she had introduced herself. She was sure she did. 'Oh well no harm telling him again. Age does make people forget things faster.' Melissa thought to herself before introducing herself again. "My name's Melissa Potter. I'm with the MLE with the MMAO branch. I'm a Muggle Artefact Restoration Assistant." Melissa told him proudly. |
Anyone? :D An orientation was not Ella's exact idea of a good first day. She would much rather of jumped straight into her new department and get on with things. Being the unsociable type, and stuff. Though technically she didn't HAVE to be here, maybe she SHOULD make an effort, because being a moody cow never got her far in school... Feeling uncomfortable, as usual, Ella stuffed her hands into her pockets and dragged herself along to the meet and greet thing. OH GOSH - this was awful. ALMOST as awful as her job title. Love Specialist. How UN-Ella-like. Not to worry, it was a job, and something had to pay for her upcoming wedding. Oh yeah, she was planning on pushing the boat out to pay for this shabang! She came to a stop, hovering behind a small group of people and just picked at her nails, which she had actually painted for once. |
SPOILER!!: charles and Gavin "Pleasure meeting you, Charles." She smiled at him then at Gavin, "That is good and oh it would be really nice to catch up with both of you." Elizabeth laughed and kept twisting her ring unconsiously. She would have messed with her brown curls but they were in a tight bun like they usually were at work. |

He much preferred to be called Mr. Taylor, but apparently, 'formalities weren't a part of IMC' and this lady was more occupied with twisting her ring than being respectful to her elders. Whatever. His mouth set into a grim, hard line as soon as Gavin said his wife worked in the department. Disapproval was written in BIG RED MARKER all over this now! "I see, I'm sure you work well together." Maybe a little TOO well. Melissa Potter. Potter. That was a well known name, even these days. "Oh, congratulations! Is that an interesting job?" Probably not, tinkering with Muggle things was a waste of time. Charles had to sympathise, the poor child looked so proud of herself when all she did was put things back to the way Muggles intended them to be and while Muggles were particularly good at creating things, most things worked better with a bit of magic added. Noticing the hovering person, Charles turned to her. "Miss." He nodded politely, hoping to engage her in conversation since she looked lost, or just as disinterested as him. He liked her already. |
Victoria walked into the room and looked around. She was very nervous. She had just gotten moved into her apartment the day before and now she had her orientation. It was a world wind ride the last few months that brought her to where she was at this moment. Putting a smile on her face she walked into the room and headed to the pretty flowers and trees. Seeing that everyone was mingling and talking, Vic decided she could just hang off to the side, not wanting to interrupt and just wanting to take everything in for now. Everyone seemed smiling, that was a plus, maybe everyone would be nice. Taking a few deep breaths Vic tried to calm her nerves, why was she so nervous to meet knew people? She had done this for years, it shouldn't be any different. |
After she had made her way through the security check point Millie walked into the meet and greet area.. Hoping to see a familiar face... maybe... upon walking in she saw only a handful of people there .. One of them being elizabeth and several people from her department but she didnt want to talk to those girls from her department.. they were crazy.. crazy girls. no no no way she was talking to them. adjusting her Bracelet on her wrist she walked deeper into the room. deciding not to go into the cluster of people that have formed.. not yet anyway. hmm where was Rowan? |

Plastering on a smile, Mariel walked over to the small crowd of people. Most of them were engaged in conversation and she'd rather wait for a lull before jumping in. She merely hung back, taking in her surroundings when she noticed two women who appeared to be doing the same. Walking a little closer, she addressed them both. "Hello there.." she said somewhat awkwardly. "First day?" Of course she was just guessing.. this was for all employees, not just new ones, right? |
Ellis walked into the room and saw that many people were already there. She wasn't very shy and mingles very well and always puts a smile on everyones face. She looked around and saw many people already in conversations. 'Very rude to interrupt' she thought, so held back and would start mingling when more people would come. She was excited about the fact she got this job and even though she has worked at a few minor places and has done a 1 year course in law, this was her first proper job. As she looked around, she saw she was one of the youngest (21) and started to feel quite intimidated being surrounded by more experienced workers. |

We were actually investigating the artefacts that they brought in from Hogwarts. You know the ones that they suspect may have been hexed by that time stealer?" She told him excitedly. "But I haven't really laid my hands on them yet. I was watching the Lab Technicians work on them." |
