For the Specialty Area employees, a Conference Room has been set up. This is where the S.A. Department Head will hold department meetings and fun get-togethers.
This room may be used by others. Just ask!
OOC: This is an RP thread. If someone would like to use the room, simply ask the Department Head.

Abilene Schirmer had arrived to work early on the first day (for some)...and quickly locked herself away in her office to prepare. Now, just a few hours later, she was ready to tackle the task at hand...Getting to know her new employees. That was what this brunch was aimed for, of course. So, gathering up her files, she strode from the room......making her way towards the conference area.
Also, Abilene hoped they were bringing their appetites because she'd been doing kitchen!gymnastics all morning.
Grinning, she checked her watch, seeing that she had about ten minutes until people were meant to arrive. Feeling anxious, she went about getting out plates, silverware, glasses...and then checked heating charms...Making sure the cold drinks were chilled and the warm ones were hot. Finally, everything was ready.
Lastly...
Pulling a colorful poster from one of the folders, she duplicated it a few times and then laid it out at different places on the table...
Nervous excitement! There was definitely some of that...

They we're getting Brunch! which was perfectly fine for the twenty two year old cause she liked brunch, it as a perfect mix between the two meals, lovely really. touching her mother's pearls briefly outside of the door, for good measure naturally. though she really had nothing to worry about, SHE wasn't the new one here, clearly everyone else was, ahem.
She shook her blonde hair back behind her shoulders and entered the... empty room.. shouldn't people be five minutes early, therefore on time, you know and if you were on time, you were late, or did only she know that. "Goood morning." she almost sang out to her boos who almost seemed...
nervous?
no, Mrs. Schirmer was too good at her job to be nervous. calm down boss lady, it was alright..
Maria graciously walked into the conference, which was very nicely decorated. The first thing Maria soaked in from everything, was the food. Obviously.
"Good morning, how is everyone?" She politely smiled, never showing a hit of shyness or the fact that she was so nervous she wanted to leave. This was all part of her now new career, which she was going to love! She's done it before but when it came to being a new place, she sort of got some first day jitters. Not to mention she was a million miles away from the people she used to know and love.
Hopefully she wasn't too over or under dressed.
Now all there was to do was to wait for the rest of the employees to show up and get eating!
The sweet smell of maple syrup filled her nose as Zoe zipped into the room. She was incredibly excited to meet the other workers in her department. "It smells wonderful in here" she said to whom ever was listening. She made her way over to the area of the buffet that appeared to be for dishes brought by the employees and placed her mothers famous pumpkin cream muffins on the table.
Not knowing if she should start eating or not, Zoe decided to take a seat at a nearby table and wait for a few more people to show up.
Kade was in a great mood. He was at work, but he was going to brunch. Which meant food. Free food. And he never passed up free food. So, for that, he was feeling exceptionally friendly.
Stopping outside of the room, he fixed his shirt collar and ran a hand through his hair. And he was glad that he did because when he stepped into the room, he saw that it was occupied only by women.
"Morning, Ladies," he greeted with an easy smile. Continuing into the room, his eyes fell on his boss. "Ms. Schirmer." With that, he found a seat at the table... but didn't take it. Instead he just leaned forward against the chair and waited.
There were a GREAT many things wrong with socializing as a medium. It was clumsy and uncomfortable and could not be controlled with a joystick or ANYTHING. His Mum had always told him that socializing wasn't dangerous, but he was not convinced. The evidence was overwhelming- people, as a species, were temperamental. Like maybe, um, well, uh, he could say to someone hello and they could respond what's so good about it? It made him want to break out into hives. Could he panic NOW?!
Tugging on the end of his waistcoat, Ferris just looked at the door that he had been summoned to and began to sweat profusely. What if, what if, um, they wanted to talk to him? Would he be asked to talk back? Maybe he could go home. Call in sick. Tell his Mum to call his boss and say that he had come down with sickonosis or something to that affect.
But then he saw someone else enter and he squeaked. It was a man and no doubt he was going in the same room....because Ferris saw him enter. No going back now.
With shaky hands, he put his hand on the doorknob and opened the door with BUG EYES. People! SO MANY PEOPLE!

As she stood there awaiting everyone's arrival, Abilene mentally ran through a checklist of things. Had she remembered to bring napkins? Yes...they were carefully placed in the center parts of the table. Sugar and cream for tea? Oh, yes...both were placed right alongside the napkins...
...and then people were stepping into the room!
SPOILER!!: Athena!

oh look, there was food.
Athena! The older woman offered her a lovely smile. "Good morning to you, too, Miss Smith. How were your holidays?"...and she looked so smart today. Those pearls were lovely.
"Go ahead and help yourself." Nod. There was plenty of food to go around.

"Miss Scoff? You don't need to wait, dear. Go ahead and fix yourself something to drink and a plate." There was no need to wait. They only had two hours...

"Thank you!" It was a compliment and Abilene was taking it as such. She had personally cooked all this food...So, yes. It did smell good and it was wholly due to her own skill...Also, the new girl was laying out a dish of something...They looked to be muffins. "...and those look wonderful. I'm sure everyone will enjoy them." How very sweet and nice of the new employee...
"Your name's...Zoe Ladasha, yes?" She was still learning everyone...So, no offense was meant, of course. "Thank you for contributing." In fact...she went ahead and approached the plate of muffins, selecting one for herself.
SPOILER!!: Kaden!

Finally one of her Supervisors had stepped through the door. Mr. Fuller, in fact. It was so nice to see his face this morning. Ever the polite one, too. "Good morning to you, too, Mr. Fuller." She might have thrown out a wink for good measure. Abilene was confident she could do that...
Also...they had things to discuss later...but she knew that he knew that. Yes.

Yes, Ferris was frozen.
........"Hun, are you...okay?" Poor Ferris looked like he might pass out at any moment. Worrying her bottom lip for a moment, she quickly fixed him a glass of water and then approached, holding it out to him. "We're just having brunch." She spoke in a calm, soothing voice. "Come in and fix yourself something to eat...You work yourself too hard." This was why the younger man chose to work alone. Social interactions must have scared him more than even she'd realized...
Right.
"Everyone new and old. My name is Abilene Schirmer...and I take it by you all being here that you either A. received my owl...or B. you checked the Announcements board on your way in. Either way, welcome to the Specialty Area." Smiling at each of them in turn, she indicated the food. "As I've mentioned to others, do go on and make yourself a plate and something to drink...There's plenty for the others when they arrive."
Giving some eyes to her manila envelopes that were laid on the table next to where she stood, she smiled. There was much to do...and not much time to do it...

Gulp.
Hun. He supposed that hun was a clever nickname for the even LONGER pet name of honey, which his Mum called him. In his headspace, he supposed that Ms. Schirmer was trying to invoke a sense of calm by using childhood stimulus to calm his down, but the trouble was- he was frozen.
This had been an exceptionally awful idea. Perhaps, um, well, he could squeak out an apology and go home. Work on his work there. After all he had been perfecting a new wand holster that shot a wand out like a gun slinger in old West films-
No, he lost those designs to a very scary woman in the stairway. Meep. With that in mind, Ferris deduced that he was probably stuck here. A terrifying prospect. Maybe they would just ignore him. Yes, please?
Plucking up the courage of a small field mouse, he nodded frantically and scurried to a seat on the other end of the table away from social interaction and sat down. See? He was here and... BLINK. So many female human beings. Such a large margin for error.
With shaky hands, he reached out and poured himself some coffee. This would do. And he would listen and then maybe get out of here as quickly as possible.
"Thank you!" It was a compliment and Abilene was taking it as such. She had personally cooked all this food...So, yes. "Yes, yes. Zoe Ladasha." Glad to see her muffins were recognizable since it had been the first time she had made them, Zoe smiled brightly at her department head. "Thank you so much for the wonderful brunch" she said as she grabbed a plate and started making her selections. Her stomach was growling in a very unladylike way. "Shall I pour you a cup of tea?"
...and next was one of her new girls! Abilene gave the brunette a sweet smile, pleased that she also was tastefully dressed. Smiley Maria, smiled in return.
"Scott." Maria smiled at her boss, innocent mistake. First day jitters, this woman was bound to forget everyone's names so no worries boss!
Maria beamed and nodded.
"Oh thank you, very much. And it was a great pleasure meeting you." She nicely replied and went off to get something to eat.
Wow, Maria sure wasn't the only nervous today. At least there was food, it helped with the jitters and all.
Bradley cursed himself. He had a feeling he was running a little late, but he wasn't exactly sure. He had taken forever deciding what to wear, ending up between casual and dressy once more. Honestly, he was going to have to get better at this.
The smell of food reached him before he was near the door. He took a deep breath and pushed the door open. The room already had a few people. "Hope I'm not too late to get some grub. I'm Bradley Donovan by the way."

Leaving level 3 Natasha took the lift down to the specialty area to find Ms Schrimer and relay Aron message. Entering the level she figured that she'd try by the conference room first. Coming out of her own meeting some minutes ago she figured that a similar 'let's get to know each other' meeting was taking place on this level.
Stopping to adjust a loose lock of blond hair Natasha pressed down the door knob to the conference room and walked in. Looking around she called out "Excuse me, where can I find Ms Schrimer?"
As she stood there awaiting everyone's arrival, Abilene mentally ran through a checklist of things. Had she remembered to bring napkins? Yes...they were carefully placed in the center parts of the table. Sugar and cream for tea? Oh, yes...both were placed right alongside the napkins...

help herself.. yes maam! Athena went over to the table and made herself some coffee and took some pastry's! yum yumyum .. oh her holidays.. filled with books and experiments and sciencey stuff but she didn't need to know that.."it was calm and lovely, thank you for asking." not really. it was crazy and hectic and she still had stuff to finish! "and how was yours?" common curtsey to return the question right?
oh and other people were arriving.. MORNING EVERYONE!!

Abilene was watching everyone, pleased that they were enjoying the food and getting to know one another...Except for Ferris. Her heart went out to him as he was obviously uncomfortable with the whole idea of even being here. He was a brilliant boy...but just a touch crazy.
"Hectic...Rebecca insists on giving me a heart attack with her talks of going to Hogwarts..." With the state the school was in, her daughter would be attending Beauxbatons in the Fall...
Oh, and then they were getting a visitor. Lovely...
"I'm Abilene Schirmer." Her smile was warm and inviting as she addressed the younger woman. "Is there something I can help you with?"

Tasha was almost about to head for the door when first another employee directed her in the direction of Ms Schrimer who at the same time acknowledged her presence.
Proceeding forwards Tasha smitten by the older woman's warm and inviting smile she chirped happily in response even though the grim situation she had left was anything but happy. "Good day, I'm Natasha Warrington."
Her smile tightened slightly as she proceeded to deliver her message "I come with news from Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne, department head on level 3. An hour or so ago a large explosion went off and pretty much destroyed our toxicology lab. Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne is wondering if you could arrange a maintenance crew to come clean and restore the toxicology lab?”

Abilene was helping herself to another breakfast pastry, glancing between it and their visitor. She was listening!...She was also just hungry...So, it wasn't meant as a rude gesture. "Natasha, why don't you help yourself to brunch..." There was still plenty...and she was more than welcome...
Upon hearing the message she meant to deliver, though...Abilene's eyes widened considerably. An explosion?! How had they missed that? Looking to her new healers, the older woman worried her lip, her tone suddenly all business. "Is anyone hurt? Do you need someone to come and check everyone?" The questions had left Abilene's mouth before she put much thought behind them...
"Yes..." She cleared her throat. "...Athena. Help me pack some of this into boxes..." There was the intention of them all going and helping with cleanup...and she could feed the others while they were there. Had they had breakfast? Didn't sound like it...since they'd been dealing with an explosion. It bothered her that she hadn't heard..."We'll be right there, dear...but do help yourself to something before you head back."

Pack up the food? She was enjoying it. That's when she blinked and her mind replayed for her what she had just missed.... explosion!? Totally awesome! The young girls mind began to sprout with reasons as to why there could of been an explosion in the lab... did they have a bunch of crazies working in there? "yes of course." she said shaking her head and reached for the boxes the items came in and began place them back in their respective boxes carefully, efficiently and quickly... there was an explosion!!!

Brunch?
Tasha shook her head. "No thank you. I want to get back to level 3 in case something else happens." Ms Schrimer, was she related to Althea she wondered? Her attention focused on the department head again as she asked about injuries. "No, luckily nobody was injured in the explosion, but we all inhaled some possibly toxic fumes when we went in to investigate the damage and well Derek went in to shock I think. The lab is his baby you could say, nobody spends more time in there than he does."
Vividly remembering what Aron had said she mumbled. "Aron wanted a maintenance crew to come to our level next week not today."
Not moving she just stared in the direction of the food. Maybe she should get something to eat anyway?

Abilene's mouth twitched, this new piece of information leaving no room for discussion in her mind. "I'd like very much for those who've inhaled the 'possibly' toxic fumes to see our Healers." It was always better safe than sorry...but also, how very dangerous! Abilene was left to wonder why Healers hadn't been alerted in the first place. She knew that Aron, if she could mentally call him by his first name, was adamant about the safety and integrity of the labs.
"I'll send a memo to Mr. Ashburry-Hawthorne about Healers." No offense to Natasha, who seemed like a lovely girl, of course. Abilene just didn't trust 'word of mouth' messages...Also, she disapproved of a toxic clean being put off but that wasn't her call. Perhaps they'd blocked off the hazardous materials by magical means. Wonderful thing, magic. Everything was so much more convenient. "...and I insist that you eat something before you head back..."
Giving a look to Athena, who she trusted to keep an eye on things, the department head made her way to her office. That memo would be sent right away.

So she packed some of the items but not all and grabbed a pastry for herself before taking a set at the table, looks like they had to wait to be called on to go down there according to this Aron dude. he sounded odd, why not clean it up now, why let the place fill with chemicals for a week!? it was odd, very odd, but the girl wouldn't say anything, mainly cause no one knew of her science genius self, and she wanted to keep it that way.
Noting the look she got from her department head she assumed it was her job to move the meeting along.. or end it.. whatever.. heh, why not meet everyone.
"Do keep eating, we have the room for just a short while longer so might as well make the most of it. Hi, Im Athena Smith, I work down in the daycare center." cue awkward coffee sip. "might as well get to know one another hmm?" so come on on, someone take the all before she calls you out.
Bradley was about to grab some food when the other woman ran into the room. Oh. Wow. Well today was definitely going to be an eventful first day of work. He was waiting to be told to go somewhere to go help out. Then someone said to keep eating. Brad just smiled an grabbed a bagel. He needed some fuel if he was going to be helping out.
EEP. ANOTHER FEMALE HAD JUST ENTERED THE ROOM. A living and breathing female who wanted to, um, discuss things. He was going to faint and then maybe they would let him go home. Or worse still, gulp, they would take him and put him up with the healers, which was MORE people. His...........video games.........never asked him to ACTUALLY interact. And neither did his Mum, really. And he was perfectly okay with that. Socialization, as a form of communication, made him terribly sweaty and dizzy and kind of uncomfortable.
And then he had heard that there was an explosion in the lab. BUG EYES. No, no, no. THAT WAS A LAB. Important discovery things happened there and people needed to not tamper with inventors personal spaces. Especially his, if they could help it....please.
A-all of, um, well, you see, them would be helping out? Why? He was fragile and weak and would be of no help to ANYONE. Meep. Could he stay? Actually, MAY he stay behind because that was polite and his Mum was always on him about being polite...to people...when he socialized. On the rare occasion.
Hiding in his corner chair, he rose his hand and was about to ask if he could stay behind when he realized...THAT MEANT HE WOULD HAVE TO TALK. Oh, no. No, no, no. Nevermind. He would just...hide. Yes, yes, very good. Hide.
