Ehm. An animagus.
Yeah, Adler was an animagus, he ever transformed became an eagle someday at security office. He remembered that after he graduated from Hogwarts, he had registered himself.
ooc: I've PMed Anna Banana to take my animagus permission, but I don't know how to register in IC (same question as Jezabel Black )

Isobel would have to control that urge to hex him. It wasn't too professional. Hopefully this little chat with Wesley would help, and then she could go get her YATI's working. She took a seat in the conference room, and waited for Wes to join her.

She took a seat in the conference room, and waited for Wes to join her. Judging from Isobel's relative silence, Wes was guessing that her morning wasn't going too well. That was a shame, since he had somewhat gotten over his YATI problem and was back in a happy working mindset... but anyway, he wanted to get down to business.
Wes sat down across from Izzy and offered her another rare smile. "Cheer up, love, I've got a great proposition for you." He slid his parchment, the one he had almost forgotten in the office, across the desk toward her and tapped his quill on the table. "So, as you can see from that, I've been working on that training thing we had talked about doing with IUMO. I think we should get it started sooner rather than later, and.... the whole department should get in on it."
And their fearless leader Van. Because Van was a pretty terrifying interrogator.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean He was smiling again. That made Isobel a feel a bit better. Wesley never smiled, so getting two from him in such a short space of time. "You should smile more..." He really should do. But she didn't say much more about the subject. "Rough morning." That was all she was offering about her silence for now. She'd let him know more details at home. When there wasn't that much of a chance of people over hearing.
She took the parchment from him, and read it. Mmm. It was a good idea. She smiled, grabbing his quill off him, before writing a few notes on it. "Good idea." They were. Really good. She mused for a moment over his next thoughts. Getting the whole department involved was a good idea. It would help get everyone up to the same standard. Which would be very useful. "The whole department would be good, get everyone working at the same level." Dropping the quill back onto the table, she looked up at him.
"Not gonna kill my YATI's though are you..." She grinned at him, pointing at one area of his writing on the parchement.

He nodded slowly at her cryptic answer, figuring that he would get it out from her eventually, probably when they went home in the evening.
Letting Isobel have his quill, Wesley tilted his chair back and scratched at his cheek thoughtfully. "Thanks, but I can't take all the credit. And while I DO want everyone to participate, I can't really figure out HOW they should all participate..." Obviously the division leaders were going to lead this training, but what about their members?
"See I was thinking we could split the whole MLE up into a few teams, with maybe four people, each from a different division, per team. Then they could have some time at each station briefly and figure out where they needed the most work or whatever."
Or... "Or maybe we could have the teams compete against each other, sort of in an office-like Magical Law Enforcement Olympics." Like the Muggles. Heh.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean Oh. That was nice. Isobel smiled at him. Getting him to smile was probably something to be proud of really. "I'm glad I do..." Because well not making her boyfriend smile wouldn't be a very good thing. She thought her answer was probably a bit confusing, but she was glad he didn't push it. Good thing he knew that she would tell him eventually. Of course she would, Wesley was the one person she trusted most in the world, she didn't keep things from him.
But now wasn't the time for that. They were discussing something else. Hmm. How they would all participate was a problem. They were a big department after all. But if they all worked on it, it was sure to work out. "Mmm...I like that idea." She nodded, scribbling it down onto the bottom of his parchment. "It'd force people to get to know each other better, which would be good." If she was honest she didn't really know many people from the other side of the offices.
An office olympics? Isobel laughed at that, but still grinned at him. "I like that idea a lot..." They were all very competitive after all.

He did wonder if it had something to do with work though....
"Good, I agree." He rested his arms on the table and brought his hands together loosely. "So do you think we should call in the other division heads, then? Get their input on their employees, see who we should put together in teams, figure out who's leading which station, that sort of thing."
He smiled again, quite proud of his work on this. "Well thanks. No, I won't kill your YATIs," this time, "but I could definitely see them getting into the Olympics." Heh. Silly Gryffindors like himself.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean Yes. Isobel was glad when Wesley moved on from the topic of good mornings. They could talk abou t it later, when they weren't at work. And anyway, they had a nice idea to finish discussing now. A very good idea.
Hmm. The other division heads? That would be a good idea. "Yup." She nodded, conjuring a few pieces of parchment, and writing down on it. She sent them off in those little funky flying memos, before looking back up at him. "Hopefully some of them can come now, then we can sort it everyhing out." It'd work fine.
"Better not Ferguson." Isobel smirked at him, resting her arms on the table. "Yeah I think they will too. Get rid of all that extra energy." And then maybe the office would be a bit quieter.

| So... We're training the 'poozers.' Good. They're awkwardness has only been inhibiting our cases. Well, my cases.
Benjamin Amsten's life has been in a very transitional period since the Order fell. First, Dacs left on some secret mission stuff, and so he's alone with her cousin, niece, thing. Then he had to rebuild his division... And now that a training type of thing is going on, things are... Normal. Ben very much likes normal.
He entered the conference room with a grin on his face. "Good day, fellow Justice League members," he said with a Hot chocolate in his hand. Ben was wearing a suit and tie, as always, and his fedora had been left on his desk. Now, let's get down to business. He sat. |

| hmm, not sure how I feel about being part of 'the Others' xD Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Once the cult had fallen, Dorian had been pulled between still wanting to locate D'Isigny and dealing with speaking to his new employees. It had honestly been a while since CMEC had had people other than himself who regularly decided to do work, although he didn't blame them. It had been a lot of paperwork after all, and even he'd done most of it at home when he'd been unable to sleep. The only thing that had broken up his routine had been that matchmaker thing, but even then he'd been thinking an awful lot more about work than anything else. Work kept him from thinking about Gwendolyn after all, since it had been around this time of the year, twelve years ago, when he'd found out about her death and had to duel his best friend. It was still something he occasionally struggled with, but it had gotten easier.
He'd stopped off for a proper triple espresso at the coffee shop across from the Ministry that morning, but made it into the office in time to drop his leather jacket over the back of his chair and catch the flying memo that was hovering over his desk. Hmm, he thought, making his way to the conference room, coffee cup still in hand. "Wes, Isobel... Ben," he greeted the few other divison heads who were already there with a nod, sipping from the cup as he headed for a seat at the table.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Although Caedwyn had made a point of meeting her employees and setting a new course forward with them, and although she had a good working relationship with Van... this was a whole different cup of nettle tea. These were her equals, yes, but most of them had been doing this whole supervision thing much longer than she had. Her stomach churned as she entered the conference room, clutching the memo from Montague in one hand.
Were they allowed to just summon each other like this?
"Hello, all." She nodded politely at each, although Ferguson and Amsten got a nose crinkle to indicate that she actually knew them. Chatted about inter-departmental cooperation and things. " I think someone is supposed to say 'fancy meeting you in a place like this' but I don't want to be so trite."

He looked over at Izzy and then nodded toward Dorian and Cade as they came in. "Fancy meeting the two of you in a place like this...." he echoed Cade with a tiny smile. "No, actually, I'm glad you both could make it. Ms. Howard, this is your brilliant idea, after all, so thanks again for allowing us all to expand upon it."
They could get started, really, if only Gabe was here... surely he'd want to help out with training people?

They'd be able to work out some things, and get this idea into motion. Isobel was actually looking kind of forward to it. It would be fun to get something going that involved the whole department. Muggle comic books? Izzy didn't know too much about comic books. "I like the one with that wolf guy in it...." But she name had really left her brain right now. She shot Wes a grin though. She was pretty sure he would get it. And maybe he would know the name of the comic too. Because that would be kind of useful. But back to business now, they hadn't wanted to have this little meeting to talk about muggle comic books. Although that could make a pretty good topic of discussion at a later date.
"Morning." She smiled at the three divison heads. They'd be able to get going and further discuss the idea. Mmm. Just waiting for Gabe though. "Is Gabe in today...?" She asked, glancing over at Wes. She hadn't seen the man this morning. Maybe he was on patrol or soemthing.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Oh, really? Mr. Ferguson, apparently, was just the slightest bit cheesy, which unexpectedly made him a lot more human. She gave him a crooked smile as she took a seat. "I merely suggested that my people were interested in cross-training. The rest of this idea took on a life of its own from there."
She wasn't capable of taking credit where it simply wasn't due, although it was kind of him to offer.
"It seems we're all here now."

He flicked his wand at his drawing of the basic training stations he thought they should have and enlarged it, then sent it floating toward the center of the oval of chairs so that everyone could see it.
"As Izzy might have mentioned in the memo, we're trying to organize a department-wide cross-training of sorts, where one person from each division would be placed on a team with other people not from their division. These teams would travel to and learn from various stations being led by each of us, the division heads. He shrugged a little and looked at the other leaders in the room for input. "We were also considering the idea of making this training something of a competition, like the Muggle Olympics...." More food for thought there.

| xD I did, Roro. In fact (*random*), I have the LOST encyclopedia. *giggles* Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Leaning back in his chair idly as the conversation turned to comic books, Dorian just nodded at the people who had come in after him. He wasn't about to contribute to that discussion anyhow, seeing as it wasn't Watchmen. So he stayed quiet, continuing to sip his espresso as he waited for that time.
His gray eyes shifted to the sketch as it floated above the center of the table, though, noting everything as Wes had mentioned it. It was a good idea, if not technically entirely creative. "There was a Ministry-wide event not that different than this years ago, shortly after I'd started working here. When Carlton was Minister," he said once things seemed to have been made open to contribution. Except for the fact that instead of the stations Wes was talking about, everything had been organized by level. "And that was a competition as well. Whoever got through all the levels first got a prize. It definitely gets people thinking about more than just what they were hired to do." He had his certificate in his desk somewhere, last he remembered. It reminded him that he was really part of the old guard, honestly. Most everyone in the department that had been around then had moved on by now.

More food for thought there. Wolverine? No, no, no. That's Marvel, not DC. Benjamin really wanted to blabber on about how that was a TOTALLY different universe, but he was at work and it was not even worth it. So, as the presentation began, Ben leaned back and watched- interested in the "plan."
Benjamin liked the idea of teaching all of their employees through "stations." But, that seemed very elementary. They should already know this stuff before we even hire them. Ah well. It's hard to find good geniuses these days. And when body language was mentioned, that peaked Ben's interest. Expert on the topic! Right here!
A competition? Oh boy, a competition! Ben leaned forward and smiled a bit, before adding to the conversation. "I like the idea, personally," he said to the group. "Might I suggest we add deduction to that list of ideas... Goes with body language, but it takes it that step further." Benjamin already knew everything he needed to know about the people in his room, but he took a quick glance around anyway... It fit. "Seems like it could be a lot of fun," Benjamin added in a friendly voice. Quote:

"But I'm not sure how a competition would work. Wouldn't encouraging them to work quickly in order to finish first mean they were more focused on winning than on learning? Is there a way to engender the spirit of competition without rushing them through the tasks?"

"Don't mind me." He grunted slightly as he eased into a seat. "Had an appointment with my healer." For obvious reasons, no? Overhearing the last of what Cade said, and catching the gist of it, Van suggested, shooting a sly look over at Wes (for reasons that would remain unshared), "Galleons, Caedwyn." Did that need elaboration? "First finished isn't always best rewarded."

Quote:

"Seems like it could be a lot of fun," Benjamin added in a friendly voice. So apparently this whole thing had been done before, eh? Wes waved a hand somewhat dismissively, not dismissing his coworkers' input entirely but signalling that the past was in the past. Congrats to Dorian and Ben for remembering that, though. Kudos.
"That was before my time in the MLES," he drawled. But. He did like their ideas. "Would you say the competition aspect of it was a draw? Did it motivate employees successfully?" He looked to Dorian mostly for that answer, since Benjamin was moving ahead with some ideas of his own.
Deduction. "Sure, we can add it." Wes flicked his wand out to the side and at the parchment of ideas, the word appearing at the bottom of the list of stations. "Is that something you'd want to do as an independent station, Ben, or.... does it fit in with CSI or Interrogation....?" Or one of the others?
He liked the feedback he was getting. So far, the others' response was positive. Quote:

What his boss did with his wife was his business and that was that. He wasn't one to judge.
"Galleons are an easy incentive, sure, along with the prospect of a nice certificate or plaque." Wes nodded at Cade and expanded on what Van had said. "But who said that finishing first meant an automatic win? We could evaluate them on a variety of things, such as teamwork, task completion, precision, and speed. A job well done is better than a job done fast." Or a job not done at all.

| Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean Oh? This had been done before? Interesting. Obviously because Isobel had been here, but it didn't mean that they couldn't do it again. It was only going to be for MLE after all, and very specific to the things they did. And she still knew that most of her YATI's needed some more training, getting their minds into gear. So she was very up for this. Very much so. It would also be good to get a little competition into the trainees, didn't want them to think she was going to go easy on them, because that was definetly not happening.
Iz offered Van a smile as he joined them. It seemed the boss was kind of thinking the same way she was, which was always good. "Maybe..." She thought outloud. "At each station they could be judged on how well they do the skill, and be given a score. Then whoever has the highest overall score could be the victor?" Sounded more logical than just the fastest winner. Because the personw who was the fasted, might not necessarily be the person who did the best job. Any thoughts on that?

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee Galleons? Really? Cade raised an ironic brow at Van. He was probably cynical enough in his world view that he knew the only way to motivate people was by buying them off, but Cade had the eternal optimism and idealism of a Hufflepuff. Paying people to be better or to grow in their job role achieved the short term, but it did little to engender that desire for self promotion in the long term. Still, he was the boss and probably right.
Even if her expression said otherwise.
"My point was more that I'd rather my employees focus on internalizing the lessons and taking something out of the activity rather than seeking an external prize, but if we're worried about participation or motivation, than I'm sure a competition will encourage many people to join in. What I think I'm hearing, then, is that we would prefer our stations to be activity-based rather than lectures from subject experts. We can't quantify who was best at listening to someone explain crime scene techniques, for example."

Hogwarts RPG Name: TBD Gryffindor Hogwarts RPG Name: Zara H. Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | **new timeline** DMLE meeting, everyone's invited, come meet & greet :) Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB The conference room has recently been cleaned and tidied up a bit, with chairs pushed in, cushions replaced or repaired, and the weather windows at the end of the room cleaned. On top of the clean table, at the end nearest the door sits a buffet of sorts, so that DMLE employees both old and new can bond over pastries, fresh fruit, and fresh, DECENT coffee/tea.
It just so happens that your department head has connections to a good former employee and excellent baker.
Help yourself to the delicious food and warm beverages as you wait for the meeting to start. There's plenty of food and drinks for all, and more than enough chairs for the entire department to sit comfortably. While you wait for your boss to show up, why not chat with somebody that you haven't met before? You may be working in closer proximity with the other divisions sooner than you'd think.
